Stopped in for lunch the other day and was seated by a very friendly server. Ordered the Choo Chee BBQ Chicken. It came out really fast and was piping hot and very tasty. The Jasmin rice was also very good and was perfectly cooked. Enjoyed the iced tea as well. Everything about my lunch was enjoyable. The only negative would be my entree had a couple of ingredients missing based on the menu description. Disappointing but the food was delicious nonetheless. The cook should pay closer attention. I was to meet my friend at Finest Thai. We thought it sounded like a nice restaurant. It was not. I never entered the restaurant because my friend had given up on being waited on and met me outside. The server ignored my friend, who was seated at his table for 12 minutes. When she was able to flag him down, he said he would be with her in a minute. The restaurant was not busy, but she waited. After a few more minutes of being ignored, she caught him again. This time the server seemed to give my friend his attention. Oops. Nope. The restaurant's phone rang, and the server stated that he had to get it. My friend gave him a couple of more minutes then gave up and left. Was service non-existent because my friend was a woman? Came w a thin dipping sauce. Almost no crab and no crab taste. 99% cream cheese, pretty flat shaped. Perfectly fried. My salt n pepper chicken wings were overcooked so the skin and chicken were tough. Not super flavorful. Came w a medium thick dipping sauce. I ordered a clear tom yum style soup w chicken. There was nothing else but mushrooms in the soup. No lime leaves, no green onions, no lemongrass, no veggies at all. There was a decent helping of chicken and the spice level was exactly what I ordered. Overall, I would only order the yellow curry and chicken again. It's a strip mall Thai place but don't judge Finest Thai only by its ordinary roots. The BBQ chicken was tender, juicy, and superb. The Larb was just as it should be with the right size lettuce cups to actually eat. Every bite was a flavor bomb and it was about $15 each including tip. A bargain. You can pay a lot more, but why. The service was good, a nice young lady took care of us. The food is a different story. Crab rangoons were OK, about the same as other restaurants Ive gotten them at, Yum Woon Sen was pretty good, lots of pork, 2 shrimp, but not tomatoes. The Som Tom was probably the worst I've ever had. More shredded carrot than green papaya, and I don't know how they made the marinade for it but it tasted like they put lemonade in it instead of lime, sugar, fish sauce and tamarind. It was really bad. Didn't even finish it. They did give a big portion of fairly good sticky rice though. the prick Nam pla was just bad, tasted like straight fish sauce with some peppers in it. Even though I live and work in Santee, I don't mind the short drive for food this good. The staff is always warm and welcoming, from the servers to the chefs--everyone greets you with a smile. The portions are generous, especially for the price, and the flavors are consistently spot-on. Their spice scale (1-10) is pretty accurate. Late night dinner! We hadn't been here in a minute. So we ordered take out through grub hub on the Yelp app. We had the spicy noodle with chicken level 4 and the cashew nut chicken level 4 with white rice. The servings were large tonight. They usually serve good portions but today I felt extra special. Kudos to the cook it was so flavorful and the spicy 4 level was on point. Cooked to perfection! We enjoyed every bite. Yesterday we got take out from a Thai restaurant we had not tried before, and it was disappointing. Today we went to Finest Thai, which we have not gone to for a few years. Finest Thai is about a mile away from the other place. I ordered the cashew nut with chicken from both places. I ordered the same dish today mainly so I could compare Finest Thai with that other place. Finest Thai really nailed the dish. It was colorful, fragrant and tasty, with plenty of bell peppers, carrots, celery, and of course cashews. The broth gave the rice a great flavor as well. I ordered a spice level of 5, and it was just right for me. If you like your food very spicy you might try 6 or 7. Finest Thai's shrimp fried rice and yellow curry were also tasty. Dropped in for a Thai tea and to try a few appetizers with my daughter. Our waitress, Khloee, immediately greeted us so we decided to dine in. We ordered spring rolls, crab wontons, and wings and were definitely not disappointed. With our food, we were give a few condiments which were a couple of hot sauces, possibly siracha and a chili paste, and a spiced vinegar... all were pretty tasty. The spring rolls were very fresh and came with its own peanut like condiment which was really good. Our wings were crispy and slightly sweet w/ what I think was cumin? It paired well with the sides of hot sauces on the table. The crab wonton was also crispy on the edges and enjoyable. The Thai tea with boba was very good. Although this was a quick snack we definitely plan to return to try the entrees. Service was quick and our waitress was very attentive and sweet while working the dining area, cashier and phones alone. We definitely ensured to tip her extra!! I sure hope the owners realize how hard it is to find workers like that these days. We definitely appreciate knowing that we have a quaint Thai spot locally. Which was soooooo dried out I could feel it actively constipating me as it went down my throat. The noodles were over cooked and dry to the point that they absorbed my saliva like a desperate sponge. Then there was the dirt...The gritty, crunchy, sandy dirt. I could not tell if it came from unwashed bean sprouts or scallion, or if it was from the fried tofu that was dropped on the floor and then served. Every bite was like eating a sandcastle. I've never been so dissatisfied by a Thai restaurant in my life. The cook on 4/20/22 at 9:20PM needs to be relieved of their duties, they have no business in a kitchen.
