This is my first time eating at the Pho Royal Restaurant in Lemon Grove. I placed my order by Tri my server. I ordered the Bun Royal Dish. This dish includes Rice Vermicelli Noodles, Grilled Shrimp, Grilled Pork, Grilled Chicken and Scrambled Eggs. I also received one fried Egg roll that is filled with diced carrots and chicken. Everything I ate was very healthy and delicious! The price is $20.00 with a side order of white rice is $3.00 and a spicy sauce with vinegar is served on the side. My drink is one can of Sprite Soft Drink price is $3.00. My total cost is $27.73. I also paid a $5.00 tip to Tri because he gave me excellent customer service. Tri was very attentive to me and my good friend Michelle today for our lunch meal. Tri kept checking on us at least 5 times and asked if we needed extra napkins or we would like to order a fruit flavored beverage. Tri told me that Pho Royal Restaurant has been in business for 10 years at that location. I was disappointed be it I have dined here before but today I came in for an order and pickup. I ordered the beef spring rolls 4pc and a Thai tea. I was so ready for this meal and was super disappointed that the rolls only had romaine rolled lettuce, small noodles, a slice cucumber and beef wrapped, no basil no mint, carrots.... The menu says shredded veggies inside. It was not worth the 18.09 that I paid for with a Thai tea with Bobba. The Bobba was over cooked and slimy. This is probably one of my favorite places to have pho & aVietnamese sandwich (banh mi) The filet mignon pho and oxtail pho is so delicious, i love their broth! I Yelp for pictures and reviews. Rarely do I post, this place was a " settle because it's close by " type of situation. And after yelping and seeing 3 stars I already judged it. And seeing how dead it was, added harshly to that " I don't want anything " attitude. But I was hungry.. we ordered 1 bowl to share and I milk tea boba for my daughter who already ate, I never put any sauce in my soup, always on the side to dip. They did not have the Sriracha my friend wanted.. but since they insist on eating here; we did not use any. After splitting the bowl, I took the first bite and looked at my friend and to see if they had the same reaction.. the type of noodle used makes the meal so much more enjoyable. It's hard to explain. From now on I will be looking for these type of noodles. And now the broth! It was rich in flavor, but light. Not heavy on salt or super concentrated tasting.. this was balanced. I was a little skeptical about this place just because of the 3stars on Yelp, but I'm SO glad I didn't let it deter me! This is not the kind of place you come for the customer service BUT you sure do keep coming back for the food! The Food Delicious! We got the Spring Rolls as an appetizer & they were so fresh and delicious! Our main course was Oxtail pho and what can I say about the broth which everyone one knows makes or breaks the dish... it was rich, flavorful & robust. They also are connected with a Tea shop & I just had to order a Vietnamese Coffee, it was to die for! Perfect coffee to sweetness ratio, will be going back asap!!! Pho royal gets the job done when craving a quick fix of pho. It's one of the few pho places in the area and they also are connected to a boba shop so that's a plus. The service is slow but considering there is usually 1-2 servers for the small establishment, I'll cut them some slack. I usually place to-go orders with them and have no issues. read more

I've been coming here for a few years now whenever I'm craving Pho. It's nothing fancy or anything but has never disappointed! The menu is easy to follow, and toward the back there's a whole page for vegetarians! Usually I order Vegetarian Pho with tofu & broccoli, and the vegetarian egg rolls. Water under tables, debris and trash scattered around the floor and the one bathroom was not very sanitary, reminded me of a gas station restroom halfway to Arizona... Awful pick up order, I've only ever left a few yelp reviews but I have to leave one so others can think twice !!! My husband went in for a pick up order and asked for chicken steamed spring rolls, they gave us shrimp & some kind of mystery meat mixed together either thin steak or pork??? (I have a food allergy to seafood) so had to be thrown out. We also ordered a rare steak pho to go & the box of noodles came cold with raw steak/blood through the entire box, I understand this is the usual packaging for pick ups but the amount of blood seeping into the cold noodles seeped to the bottom of the box, disgusting. The noodles being cold made the hot broth room temp at best, we tried to re heat but just ended up with soggy noodles & chewy steak. Save your money & make the drive to a nicer restaurant with better ratings, we should have driven the extra 10 minutes to pho ca dao!!! I was a bit put off by the lower rating of this place, but I stopped by when I was in the area - and I'm so glad I did! So here's the skinny. The base here runs sweet. On its own, I wouldn't be a fan. However, sweeter bases are designed to balance out fish sauce. Unfortunately, most western palates don't like the aroma of fish sauce (but you're missing out, I'm telling you!) Most traditional pho recipes therefore have the fish sauce eliminated for the default pho base here in the States. So after trying the base here, I requested fish sauce. They had different options. I got traditional. Once I added that in, the balance of the pho base was delicious. It tied everything together. It works well as you add sriracha too. Servers were friendly, and the orders came quickly. They have made a nice effort to add some character to the place, and the result is that it feels cute and unpretentious. I I have to say I am liking this new Vietnamese eatery located in Lemon Grove. I stopped in for an early dinner and was in the mood for some bún. After surveying the menu, I found a great looking dish, the Bún Royal which included grilled shrimp, chicken, beef, and pork served with one Vietnamese egg roll served over cold vermicelli, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mint, cilantro, and some crushed peanuts for $8.95. Simply because I love them, I ordered three additional Vietnamese egg rolls for $3.95. The bún came with a generous amount of protein. The chicken was the most plentiful and was very good. It was very tender and came with some great seasoning a very good rub as well. The pork too was tender and juicy with a good char and rub on its exterior. The beef which was the least amount, had a great char and color. It was not as tender as the chicken and pork, but it tasted great. The shrimp were good, but were a little over cooked which gave them a chewy texture and not that nice succulent pop that a perfectly cooked shrimp provides. The rest of the ingredients of the bún were great. They did a great job with the thin vermicelli rice noodle which was perfectly prepared. The noodles had great separation, were light, and were clean and fresh. The mint and lettuce were fresh too, and the peanuts as usual, are always a great addition. All I had to add was a little soy and fish sauce, and I was ready to roll with this meal. The three egg rolls were quite good. They were vegetable rolls and prominently tender tender tasty mushrooms, carrots, and some glass noodles. The rolls were very crispy and had a nice golden brown color. These were nice to eat with a little fish sauce and sriracha. All in all, a very great bowl of bún served with friendly and timely service. read more
