I I have to say I am liking this new Vietnamese eatery located in Lemon Grove. I stopped in for an early dinner and was in the mood for some bún. After surveying the menu, I found a great looking dish, the Bún Royal which included grilled shrimp, chicken, beef, and pork served with one Vietnamese egg roll served over cold vermicelli, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mint, cilantro, and some crushed peanuts for $8.95. Simply because I love them, I ordered three additional Vietnamese egg rolls for $3.95. The bún came with a generous amount of protein. The chicken was the most plentiful and was very good. It was very tender and came with some great seasoning a very good rub as well. The pork too was tender and juicy with a good char and rub on its exterior. The beef which was the least amount, had a great char and color. It was not as tender as the chicken and pork, but it tasted great. The shrimp were good, but were a little over cooked which gave them a chewy texture and not that nice succulent pop that a perfectly cooked shrimp provides. The rest of the ingredients of the bún were great. They did a great job with the thin vermicelli rice noodle which was perfectly prepared. The noodles had great separation, were light, and were clean and fresh. The mint and lettuce were fresh too, and the peanuts as usual, are always a great addition. All I had to add was a little soy and fish sauce, and I was ready to roll with this meal. The three egg rolls were quite good. They were vegetable rolls and prominently tender tender tasty mushrooms, carrots, and some glass noodles. The rolls were very crispy and had a nice golden brown color. These were nice to eat with a little fish sauce and sriracha. All in all, a very great bowl of bún served with friendly and timely service. read more

No, I I can't recommend this place because I never even got my order. I placed an order today around 440 and at 515 it was canceled. Had I not checked that status of my order I would've been waiting for food that was never going to arrive. Honestly the bad reviews here are so dumb. This place is sooooo good. I've been twice now, and both time were great. I grew up eating pho at least once a week and this place has super flavorful and robust broth. The meat was high quality and melted in my mouth. This is easily one of my new favorite pho spots. The service was kind, quick, and helpful. The decor is super cute and the dishes they use are authentic and cool! The whole experience was great overall. Today is my wife's birthday and she wanted Vietnamese stew, and our kids were here and wanted pad Thai, so we got 2 orders of the stew , 2 pad thais and one Vietnamese pork sandwich. Everything was horrible, the stew was pho with flavorless beef added, the pad Thai was worse, and the sandwich was terrible as well. The only thing that was right was the Thai tea she got. Needless to say they lost multiple long time customers tonight, also when she called in for pickup she was told they only do delivery now , we are 5 minutes away but had to use a delivery service WTH is that about!!! This is the worst Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to in 48 states. There is cabbage in the Pad Thai, it's clumped together and is way too dry. They charge $1 extra on all items and don't tell you. They also don't give you a receipt. read more

Well this place is nothing like any Vietnamese pho place I have ever come across. They have a very interesting dishes that I weren't mind returning to. I was surprised they have steam dumplings. A tad dry for taste, yet it has little water in them. Not a completely bombed that dish. Then I ordered a beef tongue noodle soup. Like I said this place is very different from other pho place I has come across. The beef tongue, were cuts up in any small pieces. Nor they have any knife at the table where you can helped yourself to cuts it down a bit. It's tasty. Then my order of fried wing arrived at last. Again, when they arrived they have hots sauce pour on it. I think they might have poured on it, because the first two ordered of mine. They see me putting hot chili on my dishes. So sad. I am a regular customer here and I enjoy the food, but today was different. I looked at my lettuce to put on my veggi roll and I saw every piece of lettuce had black and green bugs on it. One of the green bugs even landed on my finger somehow. We did not have to pay for the veggie rolls since we did not eat any, yet we still had to pay for the rest of our meal. Came into this location as I was in the area. I ordered the chicken pho and the 3 fried egg rolls for "dine in". If Customer Service is not your top priority then this place is good. I was met at the door by someone who clearly demonstrated "non-verbally " that he was not interested in being there. I felt rushed, and once I received my food he was non existent. I had to sip my water slow as the worker never came back until I was ready to pay. The food was good, but the treatment I received made me feel a way. This is a very average, barely 3 star restaurant. The menu is kinda all over the place...it has vietnamese, some thai, and some chinese mixed in somehow. The restaurant has a nice appearance inside, but the tables were not the cleanest. Staff is okay, and so was the service. It got crowded after I ordered, so that was the reason for the slack. I got pho with chicken broth, with tofu. For a large, it was a good size for the price. The broth itself was just okay, it did not have the best flavor, however, there was also an oil added which gave it a flavor that I cannot identify (it was not sesame oil). They're definitely not in Del Mar LOL. Anyways, I came here because my buddy swore this restaurant has the best pho. After coming here, this place is one of the restaurants I first think of when I am craving Vietnamese food. The reason why is because not only is the food good, but I like that they have a wide selection of Vietnamese food outside of pho. A lot of the dishes they have are hard to find in San Diego like asparagus crab soup, bean thread chicken soup, chicken cabbage salad, fried tilapia, and royal catfish. They even have Chinese food on the menu. Here are some of the dishes I have tried so far. Will update when I try new ones. Pho I get mine with rare steak, brisket, tripe, and sometimes tendon. The broth is tasty to where I don't even want to add extra sauces in it and they give you a good amount of meat. Fried Oyster I like getting this as my appetizer. It tastes so good dipped in whatever orange spicy sauce they have. Shaking Beef Highly recommend this one! Great dish and this place prepares it well. Tasty, flavorful, tender, and fulfilling. I get mine with fried rice instead of white rice and it tastes even better. Spicy Lemon Grass Beef Soup I don't think this restaurant makes the best Spicy Lemon Grass Beef Soup and it doesn't taste bad, but I wouldn't order it again. Beef Stew They all seem to taste the same to me in every Vietnamese restaurant that offers it lol and no complaints here. I like the beef stew soup they have and I like getting my beef stew with noodles instead of the french bread. Avocado Smoothie So glad they have boba and their avocado smoothie is yummy! Can't go wrong with avocado smoothies but excited to try new ones. As for the service, I haven't had an issue. All the staff are friendly and accommodating. It doesn't take long for them to bring out the food, there's alway plenty of parking spots, and they are very generous with their lime lol unlike most restaurants. read more

I ordered the bbq beef plate, popcorn chicken & seafood pho. Out of the three ,the pho was the only thing good. For the amount of money I paid the bbq beef plate cost you'd expect a decent amount of meat instead you get about 3 maybe 4 oz of meat for a plate that cost 13.99 on top of that it was bland. The best benefit of having a Vietnamese grandmother is you get all the authentic delicious foods. So Vietnamese places I'm always skeptical but I'm willing to try. I know everyone makes their dishes different and not all of them are the same. We ordered the fried Lumpia and for the 3 pieces they are very tiny. We originally were trying to look for a Vietnamese sandwich (bahn mi) which to my surprise they do not make. I had the crispy noodles with vegetables and chicken Honestly it was very bland and the noodles made my throat itchy (never did that before) My sister had the beef noodle with vegetables, she also didn't enjoy her meal and didn't eat it all. First time here and its a good spot for Pho. I think its the only Pho spot in Lemon Grove. It was a rainy gloomy day and I was craving pho. I ordered some egg rolls and they came out fast. Flavor was ok but it seemed a bit dry and not as hot as some eggrolls. Maybe it was not fresh. Saw they had oxtail Pho, I had to try it. I love oxtail. It came out very quick too. They had 4 pieces of oxtail. The oxtail pho was very good. So much flavor with the pho and oxtail. One of the best oxtail dishes I had in a while. I like this place. I can see myself coming back for some of their other dishes. Its a small place, but noticed they had a closed off area if it gets busy. The female employee was very nice and was quick to give me water refills. Plenty of parking at this location. Only minus was the egg rolls. Most Pho locations have some of the best egg rolls. I was skeptical as always, after seeing 3 star rating at this place, to try this place out. When I walked in during lunch time only one table was occupied. Server seats me at the dirty table, and I had to wait for him to wipe it, where the table Macy to it was clean looking at least. Menu was poorly constructed, with very poor Pho choices (that was the only reason I went in-to eat some Pho) and kind of overpriced. I don't know why this place has only 1 $ sign when it should be 2 $$. I asked the guy what is good here, he replied "Everything is good here". That put all kinds of alarm bells for me. In the end I ordered beef stew as it looked most promising Total disappointment. Way over salted and needed about two more hours of simmering. Meat wasn't tenders. Little carrot pieces that were in there (not even close to their picture in menu) were still tough. I highly suggest staying away from this place. Not worth a try. Because this restaurant almost made me feed my two year old and 4 year old a big bug with wings; I did report this restaurant to the health department. After an investigator did a full exterior and interior inspection, they cited this restaurant for multiple food violations as well as structural violations. In other words they had them throw away a lot of their food and also stopped the expansion of their illegal Construction. I will never visit this place as long as I live and I feel sorry for those that will have to eat there in the future. Both were beef broth.....the chicken pho had what this place labels "beef broth" but both the pho and the broth tasted like seasoned water with brown coloring. We will NEVER go back. Both were awful. The food was subpar and service was TERRIBLE! I ordered water and a Thai tea. I had a question about their spring rolls and asked what come inside the special pork roll. The waiters response was pork. . Obviously, but what else. What's the contents? Carrots, lettuce, mint, what else is inside the roll? He replied with pork and then told me he'll give me more time? What are you talking about more time? I haven't even order my meal yet. He helps other people gets me my Thai tea and walks away. The tea is horrible it tasted water down and the boba tasted as if it were sitting inside the drink for awhile. Instead of chewy it was mushy and slimy. I order the spring rolls and Pho and ask for my water again. I get the spring rolls and ask for my water. My Pho comes out and again ask for my water. Another person walks by and I ask for my water. Half way into my meal and after the spring rolls I get my water. The Pho broth was ok, the noodle to meat portion was ridiculous. I ordered the flank, meatball and rare steak. I got 2 slices of steak, 1 meatball and 1 piece of flak. That was gone immediately. So disappointed. I finished my water and just stared them down for a refill for about 20 min. They would look at me straight in the eye and then turn around, intentionally not helping me. At this point I wanted to get up and leave. Forget the food and everything just leave. I finished and was still waited for my water. Finally the waiter came over and asked if I wanted the check. I asked for water and the check. I got my water and he walked away. Another 10 min passed and again I felt the only appropriate measure was to walk out. I asked about the check and he said for me to get up and go to the counter and pay, after he just handed out 3 tables their check and took their payment. I was furious, I stood my ground and sat there and said I'll pay after you give me my check. I was excited to see a Vietnamese restaurant open in Lemon Grove so I went to try it out but I think I'll stick to my Little Saigon staples in City Heights. The beef broth didn't have very much flavor in my opinion and the meat/noodles left me wishing I'd ordered the large. I think I'm just picky about my pho since working in Little Saigon I've developed a flavor profile for certain spots. My sister did enjoy her veggie broth and there were a decent amount of vegetables included. However, I found a bit of plastic in my soup when I was chewing and it was off-putting. This is our local Pho place. It's the place we go to get decent Pho. The Pho is always pretty good, no complaints there. The restaurant is usually pretty clean and the fountains in the restaurant are a nice serene touch. In the past, I have ordered from here and asked for extra bean sprouts upon coming in and I was told that I had enough in the bag and I never received more. That guy I no longer see in the restaurant, but he did stop me from asking, because I don't want to get my head chopped off. There is a new younger guy that works in there now and at a glance, he does not seem very nice, but he actually really is. He even calls me Tiff when I pick up my order, which is funny and personable all at the same time. Overall, this place is decent and most of my experiences have been pleasant. read more

YAY!! There's a NEW PHO' Restaurant closer to home! I dined-in Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. and was impressed by their menu choices. WOW! They have a large menu selection -- from Thai Food, Chinese, and Vietnamese...Not only do they serve Pho, but they also make Pad Thai, Crispy Noodles, Homemade Wontons, Boba Drinks; the list goes on. I got served by a young gentleman name, Kong. Outstanding customer service!! My very first dish here was the steamed chicken wonton. It was perfectly steamed and yummy! For my entree, I had the Spicy Noodle Soup with beef steak. This was DELICIOUS as well! If you like spicy, I'd recommend you trying this. I prefer it better than Pho'. The food is good but sometimes I'm displeased with the service. They aren't in any hurry to serve you and don't seem very happy when customers walk in. I don't like being judged when I come into the restaurant and order only to be asked, "have you had this before?" in a questioning tone and way that conveys that I'm don't know what I'm ordering or I'm not cultured enough to eat soup that contains tendons.
