Came here with my husband for breakfast while our car was being serviced at Toyota. Husband got P4 rare steak and flank he added oxtail as well. The broth is flavorful and the oxtail was so good and tender! I got the C6 shaken beef rice plate, the meat was so flavorful and sooooo tender! For coffee we had the salted cream iced coffee and the coconut milk iced coffee. Both hubby and I agreed the coconut milk coffee was the best! The place is clean and has so much seating and space for large family gatherings or reservations. We plan on making this a regular spot. read more

We've been here twice now, and I'm honestly surprised by how much I like this place. It's quickly becoming my go-to pho spot compared to others in the Lemon Grove area. The pho broth was flavorful and satisfying, and the com thit nuong was also had flavor good. Everything we've tried so far has been well-seasoned and enjoyable. My main criticism is that the pho could use more meat, and the overall portion size feels a little small for the price. Some of the specialty pho bowls are noticeably more expensive, and I'm not convinced the upgrade is worth the extra cost. That said, the food quality and flavors keep bringing me back. We came here a couple of times during our trip to San Diego and it is a nice and solid pho spot. We ordered banh mi, spring roll, a rice plate, and boba during our visits. The best thing I had was the chicken rice plate. It is marinated with so much flavor and was very tender. The tofu spring rolls were just okay but was missing more varied types of veggies. The banh min had crispy and fresh bread but they put a wet sauce on the bread making it more soggy than I would have liked. I also was not a fan of the sauce either. The avocado smoothie with boba was very big and the boba was good, but they used frozen avocado so it was a little different than we were used to. read more

We got: -Garlic butter chicken wings ($11.75)- I prefer garlic butter over fish sauce so these were tasty. Crispy and garlicky. The 7 wings were big and the price was unbeatable. -Shaken beef steak ($16.50) - this came with regular rice, I would prefer fried rice or broken rice. The seasoning for the beef was not notable. It was decent but tasted more soy sauce flavor than any other spices. -Pho Real Super Bowl ($25.50) - this came with all the bells and whistles. Included ox tail, beef, tripe, flank, tendon, beef balls, brisket. Got this with thin noodles. -Pho filet mignon ($16.50) - the filet was thin, ordered this with thick noodles. The dishes were all decent. The broth was a bit salty for me. Either salt or msg that triggered my reaction later when I get dry mouth and dying of thirst. I wouldn't get the pho again due to my sensitivity but the wings were my favorite and the rice dish is like a home cooked meal. They've been here for 6months now according to one of the waiters. The spot is huge, looks like you can a Vietnamese wedding on here! There's a stage so I'm sure they get down. The oxtail bowl (4/5) was the better pick, with a large, meaty portion and the same rich broth. The Vietnamese coffee was bold, smooth, and just the right amount of sweet. They offered cooked or uncooked noodles and we always opt for uncoooked so we can make them fresh at home . 5. Also appreciate the fresh herbs/veggies . CONS -- 1. The uncooked noodles in my meatball pho were cut so when it came time to boil them it all turned into short noodle pieces and were really unpleasant to eat . Not sure if they thought this order was for a child lol, but I like my noodles uncut please . 2. The broth wasn't as flavorful as other pho shops in SD --it seemed too watered down and lacked depth . We held our employee of the year luncheon here. As we walked in, it was a large room with lively music and retro decor. I ordered P1, rare steak on the side and extra meat balls. Very nice decor inside with plenty of seating, so large parties are more than welcome. You can tell a lot of thought went into the details and artwork, which gives this spot a unique, elevated feel. The pricing reflects that lol, items run a bit higher than your typical local shop. That said, when you factor in the larger menu, wide variety of bowls, huge drink selection, and even TVs for catching football, the extra +$2-$3 per bowl (vs other pho shops) feels worth it for the overall atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly, and it clearly feels like a family owned spot where everyone genuinely wants you to have a great experience. I ordered the short rib bowl. While the beef wasn't quite fall off the bone tender (Phởnominal down south still holds that crown), the broth itself was rich and decadent. The oxtail option was excellent, they give you a massive chunk of oxtail, and I'd personally choose it over the short rib. The combo bowl is also a solid move if you want variety, you really can't go wrong with the classics. I also tried the Vietnamese iced coffee. It's more of a premade espresso style drip mixed with condensed milk and half and half rather than a traditional phin brew. For real... this is a fairly new Vietnamese restaurant that replaced a taqueria in a Lemon Grove strip mall. There was plenty of parking in the plaza lot. The spacious interior was refurbished to reflect the South Asian culture. Only a few groups of customers were dining when I showed up for a weekend lunch. The menu booklet contained six laminated pages. From a quick scan of the prices, they looked slightly more expensive than places in central SD. From the dozen varieties of rice vermicelli noodles (bun), I selected the Grilled Shrimp and Pork version. The bowl contents besides the two proteins were lettuce, cucumber, mint, pickled carrot, daikon, scallion, bean sprouts, and roasted peanuts. A cup of fish sauce was provided on the side to pour into the vessel for more flavor. There were only three small shrimp included while the pieces of pork didn't have grilled char marks on them like I have experienced elsewhere. The service was good, and the staff kept the tables clean by frequently bussing the empty dishes and glasses. However, based on the price and quality of the food I ordered, I couldn't give more than three stars for my lunch at Pho Real. read more

I got the chicken like everyone says to try and first thing I was expecting the chicken to be super hot by touch, but when I touched it, it was like warm. So I took a bite out of it and was expecting crunchy sounds and but instead just a soft texture chicken skin, feels like they reheated in the microwave very sad. The Pho was ABSOLUTELY delicious!! Very feeling as always and not to salty at all! My daughter enjoyed the egg rolls and the seafood shrimp pho. I had the seafood shrimp pho as well, and my lady had the brisket pho well done and she said it was good. Unfortunately it stops there. For a Saturday night, first rain in San Diego in a while it was not busy at all which I thought was going to make for more tentative service. That was not the case, the order was taken very fast which was promising. Food came out shortly after. But the service came to a complete stop when the food came (the job was done for them) we were never asked how the food was, we have to ask to have our waters refilled 2x and when it came time to pay we sat at the table with completely empty bowl for a 10-15 minutes so finally I asked for it. The decoration and ambience of this place was very well put together. The floors didn't look as clean as I'd like to see in such a nice place. Side note: the table next to us went to the bathroom and they completely cleaned off the table of food they were still hoping to come back too. The manager attempted to make it right and make the food again but didn't bring out all of the order. I really wanted to like this place! Just tried this pho place which took over the old Bollweevil spot (which later became El Cilantro). The remodel is nice and the restaurant looks bright and clean. They are still working on their liquor license. We ordered pho and tried the eggroll and spring roll combo. The soup was good. The Chicken Rice Plate tasted more like orange chicken then your usual chicken rice plate. The location is pretty new and super spacious. They have TVs around to watch sports. Super close to home so we had to try it. I could eat pho everyday so have been really excited for this place to open. Inside it looks great. They have really put some thought into the design and I can see it being a popular spot to book a party/event. The staff (maybe owner) who served us was kind and thoughtful with our rambunctious 5 year old. The pho was delicious, just a little too sweet for me, the wings were flavorful down to the meat, which makes me happy. The large space has been totally transformed with well placed lighting, themed decorations, and floral touches that make it feel welcoming. Service was prompt and our food came out fast. Prices are in line with other pho places, and portions are generous. The regular-sized bowl was plenty filling. I ordered the P9 with rare beef and well-done brisket. This was my first time trying brisket in pho, and while the flavor was good, the texture wasn't for me. I'll stick with rare beef next time. I got the combo pho with brisket, tendons, and tripes. The portions was perfect, I even had just a couple of slices of briskets left but overall I was able to finished everything even the noodles which I'm pretty surprised about since I'm normally a small portions person. It's been a struggle trying to find a really good bowl of Pho in San Diego. I can honestly say that search is now over, as Pho Real delivered on every level. The ambiance was really nice, and the menu has many options besides Pho. Still, I'd highly recommend ordering that when coming here. The highlight for me was the broth, they clearly know what they're doing as it didn't need a single adjustment in my opinion. 1. The pho soup was too salty. 2. The well done steak was too chewy compared to other Pho places. Usually, well done steak is very soft. 3. This restaurant has no attention to detail. I ordered 3 items on Door Dash, they only gave the Door Dasher 2 items. I had my refund from Door Dash for the missing food, but I rather had the food than the refund. Yes, the Door Dasher was at fault, too, for not checking the orders. However, the receipt this restaurant attached to the pick up bag only showing 2 items, so can't blame the Door Dasher completely. Im glad the 3rd noodle/order was missing though because the 2 pho orders were not good, so most likely the noodle is not good either. 4. The bag with veggies was cheap compared to other Pho places. Very little basils, probably enough for 1 bowl of Pho only. Not sure why they cheap out on this. I would not eat here again. I am an expert at Vietnamese Pho and normally only eat Pho in Little Saigon in Orange County. From the outside I could tell I wanted to give it a try. The dining area is quite large, well lit, clean with a tv showing a football game. The people were extremely friendly and we had fun interacting with them all. Big plus for me, I love happy people. I ordered the tried and true menu selection that all Vietnamese restaurants have, the #1 bowl of phõ. It was a medium and it was still large enough for me to share with my wife. We also had their version of fried wontons and fried pork rolls. All were delicious and had an interesting twist in flavor that was deliciously pleasing. You can taste the freshness in all of the food. Clean eating and flavor, mm mm! I also ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee, it was so much more delicious than the chain coffee shop that shall remain nameless.
