Haven't been in awhile, came for pick up and was pleasantly surprised how great the food was, the personal was polite and quick to get out to go order. The place looked over all clean and everyone pleased. We will be back!!

This place is always the absolute best. The lunch items are so cheap and they come with a spring roll and soup!! We come almost every single week. The service is always so quick and nice. The restaurant is clean and always welcoming!

We came in about 330 and it was nice and quiet and cool in here for the summer temperatures. We got sweet-and-sour chicken and egg drop soup. And white rice and it was all very good. They also had a really good oxidized brown tea that is fantastic. The service is immediate and the family is very sweet.

Pretty good Chinese food. Nice sit down accommodations. The Indonesian fried rice was delicious. Also the sweet and sour chicken and sesame seed balls with black beans paste was a treat.

I usually order Ubereats from here but finally had the time to stop in to eat in person last night. We came around 8pm (they close at 9:30) and we were the only table dining there. Restaurant was a moderate size and it was very quiet inside without music. My go to dish is the Indonesian fried rice! So good and flavorful. Tried the salt and pepper shrimp last night and they were delicious as well! You can't beat the prices for around $13-17 a dish, each was a big shareable portion. Service was quick and to the point. I would come back for another nice comforting meal and to try some of their other items.

Middle of the road Chinese food, fine for Santee. Clean restaurant, not so friendly waiters, but they were quick. Started out with hot and sour and egg flower soup. These soups were clearly sitting around for a long while. Lacking flavor. Salt & Pepper Wings- I actually loved these. Not overdone nor heavy breading. Good flavor and great crisp. Kung pow chicken- fresh with lots of zucchini. OK flavor. Combo Lo Mein- fresh, not a lot of meat. OK flavor. Overall its fine for Santee. The food lacked a lot of flavor but you could doctor it up. We will go back

Order off of door dash. The portions are pretty big for the price. Food was very tasty and was enough food for my family of 3. Spent around $40 for 3 items. Got the egg flower soup, chicken lo mein, and sesame chicken. There is an option to add $2 fried rice but the fried rice was plain just soy sauce and eggs no veggies. Good for takeout and something quick.

First time here and I have to say Thanks and a big SHOUT OUT to the folks in Santee on FB. Their recommendations were spot on. Paula and I were looking for a new Chinese Restaurant closer to home as some of our favs have closed down or gone down since Covid. Panda Country was amazing. From the moment we walked in, we could sense this was gonna be good as I watched another tables food being delivered with steam rising from the plates. The decor eloquent, the furniture neatly organized and the entire dining room just shouted high standards. The server was extremely attentive and took our orders for sake and beers immediately. Her timing was impeccable as she took an appetizer order and once they were delivered gave us some time to enjoy the cheese wontons and the egg rolls. Both were absolutely FRESH, HOT and delicious. We then ordered entrees, Sweet and Sour Pork, Chicken Lo Mein and the Szechuan Beef. All these dishes came out perfectly prepared, fresh and hot. I can't say enough good things about this little gem hidden away in Santee but if you have never been there, go. It will surely become your 'go to' Chinese restaurant. If you are wondering about the price tag, trust me you will not have sticker shock. The prices are better than most others in the county.

    Mongolian Beef Lunch Special
    Bob W.

We stopped here for a quick lunch today and got a couple of their lunch specials. Pork with garlic sauce and Mongolian beef. Honestly it was okay. The pork tastes like sweet and sour pork to me so it makes me wonder if I got the correct order. Kind of generic dishes that's been Americanized to appeal to those just wanting to have some Chinese food. The lunch specials included crispy noodles, soup, spring rolls, and the main dish. You get a lot of food for the money. The staff were very friendly and we received our lunch rather quickly. Might come back and try some of their specialty dishes next time.

We had the lunch specials of Orange chicken and shrimp chow mein and chicken chop suey. It was accompanied by white rice and egg rolls and egg flower soup. It's been almost 20 yrs since we were here last and the food is still delicious. The service was fast and courteous.

Ask the Community - Panda Country Restaurant

Is this the same panda county restaurant as the one that closed In clairemont? Did they have multiple locations?

Is the Salt & Pepper Shrimp very spicy? Is it really only seasoned with salt & regular pepper?

Salted Pepper 🌶. If you love fried wings, green beans, and/or fish with garlic, red peppers🌶, and scallions, you will love anything that is Salt & Pepper/Salted Pepper. They use this 🌶 not this pepper. 😉

They have everything from hot sandwiches and cold sandwiches to salads, wraps, and even breakfast items. You can order at the counter or on the kiosk. I ordered on the kiosk. Simple and quick. They were a little skimpy on the aioli, so the sandwich was kind of dry, but it was still good. I also got a side of fries, and those shoestring fries were nice and crispy. We were seated along the wall which had booth seating, which I prefer. For drinks I ordered a Thai tea no boba and the hubs a coke. We order the following items for dinner: Appetizers - - Crispy egg rolls - with pork (4 pieces) - served with veggies and fish sauce, these were tasty. - Salt pepper chicken wings - (8 pieces) they were a tad over fried but flavor was good. - Spring rolls - (2 pieces) with pork and shrimp, we ordered these Togo. Hubs enjoyed these for a late evening snack. Entrees - - Combination fried rice - chicken, shrimp and cha siu (Chinese bbq pork) I liked the flavoring of the fried rice - it was not bland, but I did mix in a tiny bit of hoisin sauce. - Pho rare steak - overloaded with green onions and cilantro. We always order pho but I really wasn't feeling it that evening, so it was all the hubs. If you love tons of green onions and cilantro, get it! The broth had a really strong flavoring of the cilantro. Overall dinner was fairly good. Seemed like there were regular customers that visited often. Staff were super nice and friendly. Parking lot was not packed at all. If in the area, I'd visit again. 2026: 7

How was the food? Absolutely disgusting! We had Pho and Ramen and I couldn't taste anything over the over salted "water", I wouldn't dare call it broth. Customer service: Other than what was already mentioned, it was the worst experience. There were four tops being serviced, yet they were in such a rush. I don't think we had finished our drink order before they started to walk away. When they came to check on us after everything was delivered to the table, I made by extreme displeasure known. We received empty apologies, no effort to "make it right" after eating less than half because I couldn't stomach it anymore. We decided to leave, so they brought the bill. I guess when you express you will NEVER come back to their establishment, there isn't much incentive to "make it right". We begrudgingly paid nearly $40 PLUS their 3% service fee for credit card transactions. As I told the staff, and who we believe to be the owner, we will never come back to this place and I would encourage others to do the same. At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice. So, to start, my wife will occasionally get treated rather well at the restraunt; she was even given a few freebies while she was pregnant with our twins, so I usually thought rather well of this place, but every time I go, the treatment is different (maybe because I am not a tiny little Asian woman, who knows) but anyways, I go there tonight and I order roughly 120$ in food, and that's where things go south. First they charge me 1.50 for asking for my rice noodles without curry (my wife dislikes curry), which I am used to, but I think might offend them. From there, there is some confusion about my order. They almost forget one of my sides in the proccess, and forgot I ordered fried wontons, but again, that is NOT why I am leaving this review. I am leaving this review because of what happened in all this... So, to begin, I ordered off the menu because I wanted my food fresh, but still, they grabbed all our sides and two of my entrees right out of the to go bar; which would be fine EXCEPT the food on the menu is more expensive because it is FRESH, and not soggy or soft from sitting in a metal tray for like an hour and a half! The next thing that happens is while trying to find out about my wantons they: GO THROUGH MY FOOD. They literally touched all my fried items with ungloved hands while I am sitting there at the waiting table with them; trying to figure out their mistake like I was trying to steal food from them. The kicker being that they forgot to charge the wontons! So instead of being like: 'sorry about the inconvenience', they straight up go: 'oh hey, let us charge you for those after we touched all your food'. Needless to say, I was a bit aghast by all this, but what was worse than the service is the fact that the cook purposefully gave my wife bland unseasoned noodles because I asked for then with 'no curry' as if paying an extra 1.50 wasn't enough, they had to also be like: 'screw your taste buds for not liking our spices!' I mean, none of this was necessary, and it all felt pretty gross and rude by the end as I just took my food and left. All that said, my wife was pretty disappointed to hear about this and thinks we may need to find a new chinese place which really sucks. Yeah... but giving me old food, messing up my order, not preparing my food right (even after they charged extra for it), and touching my food makes me realize it's probably for the best. But hey, at least they remembered to charge me fried wontons, customer always comes last, you know?
