New Chinese restaurant, food is good, service is great! Friendly staff. My favorite was the shrimp chow mein , also with the Thai tea boba!

The place is very clean and service was really quick. I just got the eggrolls though as I just wanted to check the new place out. It was a bit pricy though for only 2 eggrolls but the filling tasted great

This was my first visit. The staff are very friendly and attentive everyone who entered including those stopping by to browse the interior. The interior is clean with a nice layout. There are maybe 10 tables, and therefore I imagine seating can be more difficult on a busy night or lunch rush though I ate here on a Wednesday afternoon with no wait. Takeout is offered here. I ordered the small Pork Chow Mein. The dish was very favorable. The small is large enough for 2 or 3 adults. I will come back to try another dish.

After some search on Yelp, we decided to try Eastern Dinasty on Convoy Street. Upon arrival, we knew the restaurant was legit when we saw shiny and beautifully roasted ducks dangling in a display box. Inside, it had a casual décor, with seating for 60 guests. The courteous waitress guided us to our table and brought the menu and water right away. For this visit, we ordered the following dishes: West Lake Minced Beef Soup: The portion was large enough for 6 people. The lightly starched broth was nicely seasoned with hint of white pepper. In the soup, there were bits of minced beef, chopped green onion, and stirred egg whites. The simplistic soup was warm, velvety, and pleasantly flavored. 3 Item BBQ Combo (House Special Chicken, Roasted Duck, and Pork Belly): The house special chicken was nicely steamed, lightly seasoned, and with beautiful gelatinous skin. The roasted duck pieces were plump, with crispy skin and succulent meat. The pork belly had crispy thick skin, and tender meat with nice rendered fat without being overly greasy. Walnut Shrimp: The portion was quite generous for the price. The lightly battered shrimps had a nice firm texture and were covered with mayonnaise and sprinkled with sweetened and crispy walnuts. What a beautiful blend of taste and aroma. Left the restaurant heart-warmed and extremely satisfied. Highly recommended.

Budget friendly but disappointed since we got here after 6pm on a weekday. Good things: All u can drink soda cans by the buffet section. All you can eat ice cream but when we were there there were maybe 3-4 flavors that were almost empty and they didn't change the ice cream tubs out. Like I read from other reviewers food can be cold. Salt n pepper wings were not refilled and cold. I had to put my food on the warm white rice to try to heat it. Pork belly n pork bbq was decent but lukewarm. There is a cold section that had salad and cold dishes. Noodles were good, warm, and my kid liked the thick noodles. U get one entree per person if u do all u can eat. Got the walnut shrimp, fried rice, tofu, and French beef. The shrimp was cooked or warm but the walnuts were cold? Not even heated up with the shrimp? Beef was tender and had some flavor. Would I come back here probably not or if I did, go here when it's busy so maybe the food would be warmer. Budget not bad just around $100 for 4 but I guess u pay for what u get. Probably better to go to one of those asian buffets on Miramar road. I hope they improve and get better food warmers. Service was decent, 2 waiters and friendly. I don't like giving out bad reviews. So just don't expect to be wowed maybe try the other Asian buffet down the street (sunny/sunrise?) or look at the buffet before getting seated so you know what to expect if u change your mind. Good luck!

We had a reservation as well and were seated right away. I am someone who looks at menus before I go places and I had my eye on something that was not on the menu anymore. Both dishes I felt were really yummy, not too salty, and good portions. If anything, I wish there would have been a little more ribeye because it was tasty. It can get pretty busy just got to put in some extra time in the neighborhood or streets for metered parking. Seating: Inside and outside seating. For inside, reservations are recommended. Room for about 50 people. Vibes: Welcome to North Park, a lot of eateries and bars to hop around. It's a pretty hip place with constant traffic. The spot itself is Retro Chinese-American aesthetic with a modern twist. Think red lighting, plants, and a playlist that keeps the energy up. It's one of those spots that feels trendy but still approachable--good for dates or catching up with friends. FOOD / DRINKS Mayo Walnut Shrimp (Recommend) This is one of their standout dishes--and for good reason. Crispy shrimp coated in that creamy, slightly sweet sauce with candied walnuts. It hits that crunchy + rich + sweet combo really well and is easily one of the safer bets on the menu. Green Beans (Recommend) Simple but solid. Good balance to the heavier shrimp--fresh, slightly savory/umami making it a nice side to round things out. Ginger Lemonade (Recommend) A refreshing sip with a nice bite of ginger. SERVICE Friendly and efficient, especially considering how busy it gets. Food comes out fairly quick once you're seated. TL;DR OVERALL 4 stars. Steady prices, good food, and good choices. Fun spot with strong vibes and solid Chinese-American comfort food. It leans more elevated takeout-style than traditional, but that's kind of the appeal. I've been to pretty good Chinese spots but this is a nice experience if you're looking for nice aesthetics and good food. Beef noodle soup - excellent flavor overall, including a strong broth and a nice, soft texture to the noodles. Out of the countless Chinese restaurants I've visited for beef noodle soup, this makes its way into the top three. 5/5 Lamb skewers - wayyyyy too dry. This is certainly not their specialty, and asking for extra cumin to sprinkle on the lamb did not redeem the firmness. I struggled to slide the meat off the skewer and ended up just eating it while still on the stick. 1.5/5 Fish fillet - so good. Easy to eat texture-wise. Caution -- a bit saltier than it looks. The bell peppers in particular were seasoned spectacularly. 4.5/5 Dry fried green beans - a delicious option for vegetables to add to the table. Most people will enjoy this one in my opinion. A bit more crunch than I expected, which is not a bad thing. 4/5 Double cooked pork - I've never seen it cooked this way, and am not a fan. I'm used to a more oily version of this dish. It contained a bunch of dried and crunchy... yams? Potatoes? Overall, the dish was mainly crunch with no flavor, and contained a relatively small amount of pork. 1/5

It looked different back then, but apparently the owner is still the same! And what's crazy is that she hadn't seen my parents in decades but still recognized them and remembered what my mom's profession was. Just... wow. In any case, I digress. The food is solid and both tasty as well as plentiful. It's not going to earn any Michelin stars, but if you're hankering for that comfort food feeling, it'll hit the spot. Since rediscovering this place, we've been back multiple times and it's quickly becoming part of our regular rotation. And the ladies who work here are pleasant too; in that Chinese auntie kind of way. A little rough around the edges but you know they'll take care of you if you need it. The only things that I wish they'd improve is a little bit better lighting; it's a bit too dark, and some sound mitigation as it can get a bit loud if there's a particularly boisterous group present. But other than that, I'm glad we've become reacquainted.

That being said, I wasn't really fond of reliving food taste from childhood. Everything was salted too strong and the wrapping for the dumplings and for the Haw gao were all too thick. nothing felt fresh. They just felt hot. And I would say for a Saturday night the place was not packed at all, but let me tell you what was packed.....the parking lot. Parking is horrible in this place and people are double parked everywhere on Saturday night. OK so now onto the dishes, the beef chow fun, probably the top. The next was the turnip cake which was also very good. The other dim sum plates were not as great as I thought they would be because either the meat was not tenderized or the skin was too thick or the flavor it was just off. The sticky rice needed more flavor and there was no chicken options for the sticky rice. You just had also one big banana leaf for wrap. My kids didn't like the meat when it's too tough and you could tell the meat was pretty tough. Not sure if I'll return there are definitely other places that can provide better. Once again, we are still in a dim sum desert in San Diego.
