Pho Today is a nice little Vietnamese cuisine in the college area. Located in a strip mall on the corner. This restaurant is a tiny gem. I ordered the pork banh and it was on point. Bread was crusty with a soft interior. The pork was savory and tender. I felt the carrots and daikon cut with a little extra flair was nice. Overall a great sandwich. The service was top notch and the interior was clean and comfy. I definitely have to return for the vermicelli pork dish.

It's a quiet little corner shop. Or maybe it's when we went. The plaza is usually busy, but there's parking right across the stop sign. It's a seat yourself type of joint. The lady gave us menus as we sat down. We were really craving pho. So I got the special and my baby got meat only. The broth is really flavorful! My picky eater was impressed too. Maybe just needs a little more meat if it's just steak only. Egg rolls were good too, nothing too exciting to rave about. Service was just okay. Not sure if she was giving us space. Or she was busy doing something in back. I was waiting to pay for a bit longer than needed. What I didn't like was the pho came out at the same time as the egg rolls, so we didn't even get a chance to munch on them before our entree so we didn't even finish it. Overall, they're authentic tasting and flavorful.

Not going to lie I almost don't want to write this review to gate keep a bit longer so my spot isn't burnt out but you know what?! This restaurant deserves their flowers and all the business they can get especially being a newfound establishment. I found this spot while on my Yelp binge and wanting to try a new pho place. I'm VERY skeptical when it comes to trying new pho spots since I've had that weren't too amazing. I come from Pho Hoa, Ca Dao, and a lot of other big chain restaurants so I know a thing or 2. Anyway I'm so glad I ventured out and tried this place! It was so good I went back the next day again and low key I think this might be my new pho spot. Their house special pho is so inexpensive and the portion size was well worth it basically getting a huge steal! $14 for the huge metal bowl that keeps your broth warm! You cannot beat or find that price anywhere else for the portion and type of pho! The broth was actually pretty good too I tried it before remixing my bowl. Their rare steak on the side they give you is more than any other place. The deal breaker for me was having chili oil on the table so you don't have to ask for it! If you know, then other places don't keep that out. They also have the veggies options we like to request at pho shops as well which were the pickled vinaigrette sliced white onions and the nuoc beo which is green onion in oil. We had the beef rib pho too and the ribs were tender and delicious! We also tried their butter chicken wings which came in 4 pieces for about $7. It was salty but in a good way where it could be enjoyed with steamed rice. We liked it. They have an extensive menu with over 100 items I really want to try a few other items but I can't seem to steer clear of ordering pho when I'm there. Plenty of parking and the owners/customer service are no frills but it looks like just a husband/wife team and they work quickly to bring everything out and remember all your requests. This place needs all the business they can get their food speaks for itself!

I didn't have pho today, but I did recently visit this new Vietnamese eatery in the Campus Plaza Shopping Center of Rolando near SDSU. It replaced a short-lived crab boil shop that faced stiff competition from a larger chain on the same block. I was the sole customer on a weekend evening so I could pick my choice of seating from the roughly 40 spots in the dining room. Pho sounded good on a chilly winter night, however I went with some of my go to items. I started with the Shrimp Spring Rolls which came as a pair and peanut dipping sauce. The rice paper wrapping was still warm from being freshly rolled by the kitchen. The pieces of shrimp were of good size, and the sauce had chopped peanuts sprinkled on top. I also ordered the BBQ Pork with Rice Vermicelli & Veggies (Bún Thịt Nướng). The entree came in a large bowl with a cup of fish sauce on the side. The pork was grilled small pieces and not like char siu at all. The veggies were usually juilienned, but the cut was different here as they were more coarse. Some folks did trickle in as I was finishing my meal which was a good sign. The service from the cashier/waitress was acceptable, and the food came out of the kitchen relatively quickly. I gave my dinner at Pho Today a four star rating.

I stopped in Pho Today for an early dinner. I ordered Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio or Grilled Pork and Spring Rolls with vermicelli Noodles for $13.95 plus tax. The bùn was good and they offered a lot of noodles and a decent amount of pork. The pork was tender but is was missing that smokiness from the grill. The vermicelli came hot, which was odd because it's normally served cold or at room temp. I think they forgot to run it under cold water after they boiled it. The spring rolls ground pork and veggies were very good, but the spring rolls themselves needed a more brown golden color. They looked under fried, but the filling inside was cooked properly. The veggies that came with the meal were fresh and crisp but the meal was missing those traditional crushed peanuts. The table chile paste and the fish sauce were both very good. I was a huge fan of the chili paste. The service was friendly enough. It was a little cold when I first arrived but then it warmed up and got friendlier towards the end. There's plenty of parking.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! It's walking distance from where I live and my friend and I come here all the time. It's such a cute little place always with the same workers. The pho is sooooo good every time and the portions are so big for the price! Love this place

Wow it was actually so good!!! honestly a hidden gem. The food was good, there was an abundant menu, the portion size was great, the staff was nice, it was nice & quiet, clean, & fair priced! Hard to find all this these days! I LOVED the blueberry smoothie, garlic wings, & pho!

We also ordered the garlic green beans, but they came out so late that we were already completely full from the noodles, so we took them to go. Thank god we did, because they turned out to be pretty salty on their own and really needed to be paired with white rice at home. Overall, an amazing spot for authentic noodles! Something I didn't love though, you order and pay through the online menu. Considering you leave a tip I don't fully understand how it works when we did this whole process ourselves. I also noticed other tables getting plates and bowls which we had to ask for. Overall, I felt the servers weren't too friendly either and seemed to rush through our table despite them standing around not seeming too busy. The food was excellent though! The soup had a great spice to it and super flavorful. The beef and onion was so juicy and addictive, the green beans were good too and had a slight kick to them.

They updated their decor and like it much better with its refreshing white and green interior giving south-east Asian vibes. The menu has quite a lot of good offerings it was hard to decide but feel not matter what you order here it's going to be delicious and authentic. They did keep several items from The Nood Bar! :: ORDER :: RED GUAVA ICE TEA ($5.95) - Oh my goodness, so yummy and refreshing. I'd say the caffeine level is very light on this one and I am ok with that. After stuffing my face I took a nice nap for someone who is caffeine sensitive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GARLIC BUTTER NOODLES {$20.95) - Grilled lemongrass-marinated pork shoulder served over steamed soba noodles tossed with soy sauce, fried garlic, garlic oil, and butter alongside steamed botchy, finished with cilantro and a side of plum sauce. THIS WAS SO FLAVORFUL and yummy. I don't often eat garlic butter noodles so any garlic butter noodle is delicious to me. I did NOT see any fried garlic in my meal and felt it was only garlic oil that was present with the garlic profiles. The noodles were very garlic-y and butter-y. The pork shoulder was also perfectly marinated and dipping it in the plum sauce which was a mix of sweet and tangy paired well with the marination of the meat and butter-ness of the noods. It also came with ONE bakchoy sliced in half to appear as two. And I wish they some how incorporated the cilantro and carrots more into the dish instead of garnish to give some more herbal flavor. Even though, this dish was spot on. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Service was great! Did feel awkward when they handed me the machine to tap my card and leave a tip... they stood there watching you press the buttons. No being discreet picking up plates or looking away... just looking right at you. I know it's a thing with many restaurants now but it's awkward and don't feel like I have privacy. I will def be back! So many yummy dishes on the menu to try. Until the next slurp....

At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice. I know people who love this place so much that it is part of their regular rotation. Me being born and raised in San Diego without ever trying it almost felt like a crime. I finally decided it was time to pay a visit. We came with a party of five. The seating setup was a little different from what I expected. We ended up at a long picnic table style booth that we shared with another couple. It honestly was not an issue since there was still plenty of space. It was just a different concept for me. The servers were super friendly and bubbly. They moved fast too. Our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Char-grilled Beef, Eggroll & Cold Vermicelli Noodles, Fresh Spring Rolls, the famous Spicy Garlic Wings plus the Korean Beef Short Ribs. The Fresh Spring Rolls were good. They were filled with shrimp, thinly sliced pork, lettuce, vermicelli noodles, basil plus bean sprouts. The peanut plum hoisin sauce definitely carried them though. Add some of their chili sauce into it too. Delicious. Now for the Spicy Garlic Wings. I know everyone raves about these, but honestly, based on the ones we got, I feel like I would rather have Wingstop. They were really dry. I even asked a friend who has been here before if that was normal. Apparently they are usually not like that, so maybe we just caught them on a bad day or they spent a little too much time in the fryer. Either way, they had definitely lost a lot of their moisture. The flavor was there, but the dryness made it hard for them to really stand out to me. My favorite was easily the Korean Beef Short Ribs. They came out sizzling over caramelized onions with a generous amount of marinated meat. Great flavor. Great texture. Delicious. This was probably the one dish I would order again without thinking twice. The Char-grilled Beef, Eggroll & Cold Vermicelli Noodles were fine. The noodles were a little too bouncy and chewy for me. They almost tasted slightly underdone. The grilled beef had great flavor though. Once everything was mixed with the fish sauce, it came together much better.
