    Egg rolls

It's a quiet little corner shop. Or maybe it's when we went. The plaza is usually busy, but there's parking right across the stop sign. It's a seat yourself type of joint. The lady gave us menus as we sat down. We were really craving pho. So I got the special and my baby got meat only. The broth is really flavorful! My picky eater was impressed too. Maybe just needs a little more meat if it's just steak only. Egg rolls were good too, nothing too exciting to rave about. Service was just okay. Not sure if she was giving us space. Or she was busy doing something in back. I was waiting to pay for a bit longer than needed. What I didn't like was the pho came out at the same time as the egg rolls, so we didn't even get a chance to munch on them before our entree so we didn't even finish it. Overall, they're authentic tasting and flavorful.

Not going to lie I almost don't want to write this review to gate keep a bit longer so my spot isn't burnt out but you know what?! This restaurant deserves their flowers and all the business they can get especially being a newfound establishment. I found this spot while on my Yelp binge and wanting to try a new pho place. I'm VERY skeptical when it comes to trying new pho spots since I've had that weren't too amazing. I come from Pho Hoa, Ca Dao, and a lot of other big chain restaurants so I know a thing or 2. Anyway I'm so glad I ventured out and tried this place! It was so good I went back the next day again and low key I think this might be my new pho spot. Their house special pho is so inexpensive and the portion size was well worth it basically getting a huge steal! $14 for the huge metal bowl that keeps your broth warm! You cannot beat or find that price anywhere else for the portion and type of pho! The broth was actually pretty good too I tried it before remixing my bowl. Their rare steak on the side they give you is more than any other place. The deal breaker for me was having chili oil on the table so you don't have to ask for it! If you know, then other places don't keep that out. They also have the veggies options we like to request at pho shops as well which were the pickled vinaigrette sliced white onions and the nuoc beo which is green onion in oil. We had the beef rib pho too and the ribs were tender and delicious! We also tried their butter chicken wings which came in 4 pieces for about $7. It was salty but in a good way where it could be enjoyed with steamed rice. We liked it. They have an extensive menu with over 100 items I really want to try a few other items but I can't seem to steer clear of ordering pho when I'm there. Plenty of parking and the owners/customer service are no frills but it looks like just a husband/wife team and they work quickly to bring everything out and remember all your requests. This place needs all the business they can get their food speaks for itself!

I didn't have pho today, but I did recently visit this new Vietnamese eatery in the Campus Plaza Shopping Center of Rolando near SDSU. It replaced a short-lived crab boil shop that faced stiff competition from a larger chain on the same block. I was the sole customer on a weekend evening so I could pick my choice of seating from the roughly 40 spots in the dining room. Pho sounded good on a chilly winter night, however I went with some of my go to items. I started with the Shrimp Spring Rolls which came as a pair and peanut dipping sauce. The rice paper wrapping was still warm from being freshly rolled by the kitchen. The pieces of shrimp were of good size, and the sauce had chopped peanuts sprinkled on top. I also ordered the BBQ Pork with Rice Vermicelli & Veggies (Bún Thịt Nướng). The entree came in a large bowl with a cup of fish sauce on the side. The pork was grilled small pieces and not like char siu at all. The veggies were usually juilienned, but the cut was different here as they were more coarse. Some folks did trickle in as I was finishing my meal which was a good sign. The service from the cashier/waitress was acceptable, and the food came out of the kitchen relatively quickly. I gave my dinner at Pho Today a four star rating.

I stopped in Pho Today for an early dinner. I ordered Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio or Grilled Pork and Spring Rolls with vermicelli Noodles for $13.95 plus tax. The bùn was good and they offered a lot of noodles and a decent amount of pork. The pork was tender but is was missing that smokiness from the grill. The vermicelli came hot, which was odd because it's normally served cold or at room temp. I think they forgot to run it under cold water after they boiled it. The spring rolls ground pork and veggies were very good, but the spring rolls themselves needed a more brown golden color. They looked under fried, but the filling inside was cooked properly. The veggies that came with the meal were fresh and crisp but the meal was missing those traditional crushed peanuts. The table chile paste and the fish sauce were both very good. I was a huge fan of the chili paste. The service was friendly enough. It was a little cold when I first arrived but then it warmed up and got friendlier towards the end. There's plenty of parking.

    Rare steak & meatball Pho!

New Pho restaurant in the Rolando area. They have lots of different Vietnamese dishes as well. I tried the Pho with rare steak and meatballs and it was really good. The broth, noodles, and meat are really good quality. Veggies were all fresh. Great service from the owners. Very nice and clean inside. Definitely will be coming back to try the other dishes soon.

Beef noodle soup - excellent flavor overall, including a strong broth and a nice, soft texture to the noodles. Out of the countless Chinese restaurants I've visited for beef noodle soup, this makes its way into the top three. 5/5 Lamb skewers - wayyyyy too dry. This is certainly not their specialty, and asking for extra cumin to sprinkle on the lamb did not redeem the firmness. I struggled to slide the meat off the skewer and ended up just eating it while still on the stick. 1.5/5 Fish fillet - so good. Easy to eat texture-wise. Caution -- a bit saltier than it looks. The bell peppers in particular were seasoned spectacularly. 4.5/5 Dry fried green beans - a delicious option for vegetables to add to the table. Most people will enjoy this one in my opinion. A bit more crunch than I expected, which is not a bad thing. 4/5 Double cooked pork - I've never seen it cooked this way, and am not a fan. I'm used to a more oily version of this dish. It contained a bunch of dried and crunchy... yams? Potatoes? Overall, the dish was mainly crunch with no flavor, and contained a relatively small amount of pork. 1/5

Parking can get pretty competitive here so come early. Seating: Inside seating for maybe about 25 people, 5 small groups or so. Vibes: North Park is known for its lively food and entertainment scene, but this spot leans more on the calm and cozy side--which is a nice change of pace. If you're looking for something more relaxed, this is your spot. I enjoyed the subtle Japanese-inspired playlist in the background--it added to the overall ambiance without being distracting. The artwork gives the space a warm touch, especially the Bruce Lee painting. It feels like one of those places you can come back to regularly when you want something comforting and reliable. Definitely more comfort-focused than trendy, and that's part of the appeal. FOOD / DRINKS Spicy Miso Noodle Soup (Recommend) This was a solid bowl. You're getting a spicy miso broth with slow-cooked pork belly, bok choy, carrots, and noodles (ramen or udon)--so it hits that comforting, savory lane right away. The broth has a nice kick without being overwhelming, and the pork belly adds that richness to balance everything out. It's one of those bowls that feels hearty, warm, and satisfying--especially if you're craving something with depth and a little spice. SERVICE Friendly and efficient. Food comes out pretty quickly, which is always a plus when you're hungry. TL;DR OVERALL 4 stars. Good food, reasonable prices, rich selection, and a pleasant experience. It seems to be a favorite for locals as there was a steady flow here. If you're in need of some good broth, this is your spot. At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice.
