Buddha's Delight - all veggies and delicious!
    Melissa S.

Ist time ordering take-out from Chef China note: they only take cash payments. There isn't really much seating inside the restaurant, so we chose to order take-out. We ordered the salt and pepper wings since they came highly recommend by other reviewers, as well as an order of Buddha's delight, and the lemon chicken. The wings had a light crunchy batter, seasoned nicely with garlic, salt and chile flakes. The wings were tender and moist on the inside - just delicious! Note that we had ordered the large order of wings which comes with 12 pieces, you can also order a regular size of 8. We scored the wings a 5 out of 5. The generous portion of Buddha's delight was chalked full of vegies and delicious! We scored it a 5 out of 5. The lemon chicken was small strips of battered & fried white meat chicken, which you will toss in the lemon sauce which comes in a separate container. This also was a very large portion. I thought the lemon sauce was delicious, however, I found the chicken to be tough, even after soaking it in the sauce I found it to be too chewy. I scored this a 3 out of 5. Our meal came with lots of white fluffy rice. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will be going back again to try other dishes. I will update after our next visit.

You know it's bad when you have to leave a bad review for a Chinese place. First off the food was really expensive for a Chinese take out place that you can't even sit inside of. I paid 43 dollars for only two entrées and wontons. The food looked and tasted terrible and what made it worse is how much I paid for it. When I opened my plate of lo mein there was a hair in it and the sweet and sour sauce had a fly in it. You only paid cash there and they gave me no receipt at all so something is fishy or they know their food is bad. Even after what we ate our stomachs are hurting now and paid way too much for some food we refuse to eat the rest off. Don't eat here if you like Chinese food it'll ruin it for you for a good while. Because now I'm upset that I'm still hungry but too disgusting to eat something else so take that information as you will. After this review I'm calling a health inspector to look into this place because I don't think other people should have to deal with this if they just want some Chinese. Honestly I would rather eat Panda Express over this slop ever again and I mean that so much!!

    Orange Chicken

    Orange Chicken Combo Plate

Affordable Chinese takeout only restaurant. The orange chicken combo plate was great, came with a huge portion of fried rice and an egg roll. The salt and pepper wings are a fan favorite here and I agree. They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and the cream cheese wontons was another great appetizer. Friendly staff and they are cash only but ordering on a mobile app will let you use credit cards.

The only thing I ordered from this place was the salt and pepper wing. Boy was it worth it! The wings were steaming hot, deliciously seasoned and so crispy! I always get my wings South of the 54, but needed to get something closer to El cajon. I was lucky to fall upon this place. There are wings just as good if not better than my usual spot. I'll definitely have to come back and try their other food!

Rice rice was amazing (no protein) and the salt and pepper wings was good too, the toppings were okay

Mushroom chicken, shrimp chow mein, and snack pack.

First time ordering from Chef China and it won't be our last!! We ordered mushroom chicken, shrimp chow mein, egg foo young with gravy, and the snack pack. Everything was delicious!! BONUS:: during the current sriracha shortage, we have yet to come across an actual bottle of Sriracha. Our order came with 3 packs!!!!

They're still not open as of 6/12! Does anyone know anything about them reopening?

I drove by and it looks like they are remodeling the outside of the building. A few stores look blocked off since that 711 is being built. So maybe they are closed while it's being done.

What's the deal with chef China? I've called for a week and no answer.

It's now 06/04/19 and they're still not open why ?

    Is this place still open?

It was as of last week

I was a bit hesitant to try this place because I love chinese food and lately its just been hit or miss. Also, sushi/chinese can sometimes be not what you expect. ANYWAY, let me go back to my experience with Ayumi. Small cozy restaurant that has about 8-10 tables. Its apparent they do a lot of take out. It's in a small plaza but there is plenty of parking. You're greeted warmly when going inside, and there's an A-Frame in the front that tells you the daily special. The pictures here on yelp and google helped a lot in making my food decisions. I love my orange chicken not too much breading, and an even sauce to nugget ratio. Some of the other chinese restaurants in the immediate area are wayyyy too saucy or too breaded. I chose the Sweet & Pungent chicken, bc that sounded good ... boy it did not disappoint. It came out on a bed of crispy noodles and steamed broccoli. The pieces were evenly sauced and sticky the way I love it ... so I can only imagine the orange chicken, sweet and sour, and whatever else is fried will be decent. Definitely coming back just for this. My bf had the kung pao trio, and it was probably the most decent I've had in a while. The prices are reasonable for the area for the sushi, the chinese food, and even the beverages (some places be gouging for beer), and I'm going to be trying this place out for the lunch specials which is always a good combo of entree, appetizer, and drink. 5 stars for the chinese food, Can't wait to try the sushi next time.

This was a quick drive from our house and got great reviews, so why not! The dining room is moderate sized, about 6-8 tables, plus a bar with 3-4 seats at the counter, so you may still have to wait a little bit if they are super busy, but we got there before the rush and got right in. The menu is very diverse, but don't let it scare you, they do both Chinese food and Sushi with some asian fusion dishes as well. We stuck with the sushi but I definitely want to come back and try the Chinese food. The sushi was legit, quality and fresh ingredients and great flavor combos. We had 3 orders of rolls, a sake, and I had a glass of chardonnay. The wine is VERY reasonable here, $5.99 a glass! Those are happy hour prices ALL day long.. It's not a fancy glass of chard, but it paired perfectly with the sushi. Service was good, fast at first, slowed down a bit when they got busy but we never had to wait too long! The rolls were delicious, we had the Las Vegas roll, which was crunchy fried deliciousness, the jalapeño was on the top so if you wanted it less spicy you just took it off. I didn't think it was too spicy even with the topping. We also had the citrus and gold dust roll. The citrus roll was definitely zesty and spicy, for those who like spice! The gold dust roll was PERFECT, it was my favorite. It had a little crunch inside of it and it wasn't too spicy. Definitely will be reordering that one. All in all 5 stars here for the price, very affordable and delicious sushi!

At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice.
