Diamond Palace is still quite good overall - updating to encourage anyone/everyone to order the live whole lobster (ours was a 4 lb-er). Next time I would order it with the noodles to soak up all of that delicious shellfish flavor.

Being from Orange County, my expectations for Dim Sum are high. I typically go to Jasmine or Emerald whenever I'm wanting Dim Sum, but decided to give this place a try after seeing it on Yelp and I am glad I did! Met the owner and he was confident that his food was better than the other places mentioned AND much easier to find parking as the lot is huge. They push the carts around as traditional dim sum should be, the food comes out hot, and my party and I were happy. If you don't see the item you want on the cart, you can always make a request and they'll notify the kitchen to have it prepared. The restaurant was spacious and the atmosphere was chill. The food was very good and well priced. I think I found my go to spot in the San Diego area! They serve dim sum ALL DAY from open to close, even though this is usually a breakfast/brunch type of thing. Highly recommend you check them out!

My friends and I went on a day trip to San Diego. Being from San Gabriel where there are an abundant of dim sum restaurants, Diamond Place is truly a diamond in a rough. The dim sum dishes were absolutely delicious and well presented. Usually, I feel like there's a balance between how good the service is vs the taste of the food. Diamond Place definitely has both. Dim Sum doesn't taste mushy from being over steamed. The staff were very attentive - making sure we had the sauces we needed, making sure our tea pots weren't empty and making sure we had a great experience. I was truly amazed. We particularly felt the shu mai were exceptional. The combination of savory shrimp and pork in a dumpling had a great bite. My friends and I agree, one of the top dim sum restaurants in the nation! We've booked marked it for our next trip.

Looking for a good dim sum place? This is one of my top places for a dim sum lunch. Unlike the places that are available in convoy, this hidden gem has lots of parking and great prices. You can order from the dim sum trays or the menu available. I always love coming here with my family cause it's easy and the staff here is very nice. It's great for our families and groups. My recommendations? Shrimp shumai Sticky rice Any of the dumplings Sesame balls Barbecue pork bun

I've been coming here for dim sum for years and never realized that dim sum was also available for dinner, as well as the dinner menu. For this visit, we ordered a variety of dim sum, and some dinner entrées. We had a nice spread that included bbq pork buns, xiao long bao, shrimp rice rolls, beef rice rolls, bbq pork rice rolls, shrimp & chives dumplings, minced beef soup, sautéed pea sprouts, salt & pepper crispy tofu, Singapore rice noodles, and a few other dishes. It was a good amount of food for a party of 8 and we had a lot of leftovers.

I've never heard of this Chinese restaurant until my visiting relatives from Boston came down and recommended this place for dim sum and roast duck. My other relatives who also live in San Diego like me didn't know about here either as it's located very far southeast. We were all very excited to give this place a try! It's located in the same lot as Northgate Gonzalez Market a little east of City Heights (not sure what this area is called...) on 54th St. There is a huge parking lot with ample stalls that won't ever be an issue. The restaurant is HUGE. It's a Chinese and dim sum restaurant that provides catering and banquets for big parties. The dim sum selection wasn't that big, but the restaurant provided quality food. My relatives ordered a bunch of dim sum including pork shumai, chicken feet, shrimp & beef rice rolls, spare ribs, etc. They also ordered some vegetables and roast duck from their Chinese food menu. According to my visiting relatives, this was one of the few good restaurants that had really good dim sum and especially a really good roast duck. They didn't have any good ones back in Boston and came to this restaurant quite often to order their duck. Coming from Hawaii, I grew up with delicious roast duck and wanted to compare the ones here to there. And I got to say, it was pretty good! It was crispier and had really good comparable flavor, something I really missed when I left Hawaii. The only con about the roast duck was the lack of meat. But still great texture and flavor! I came another time with my boyfriend, brother, and his fiancée. We ordered only from the dim sum menu unlike the previous time I came with my relatives. Again, the dim sum was delicious! Great quality and plump items. Yum! The only two small items were honestly the egg tart and the beef rice roll which were both meh in my opinion. The beef rice roll barely had any beef which looked sad. Comparing this visit's beef rice rolls to my previous visit, the quality of it went down in my opinion. But my brother's fiancée liked it. The only downside was the prices of the dim sum which I feel is normal in today's economy and in San Diego. The prices range from $6.69 to $10.99 depending on the type of item you choose. Majority of the items we got were either $8.29 or $9.39 each. But thankfully, the quality and how big each individual item was, such as a single shumai, were great. That made the food worth the price! Our server in our most recent visit was soooo funny. He was chatty and very easy to talk to. Loved making jokes and honestly brought the energy. His coworker also did the same with another table too. Great way to pass time on a slow weekday. A favorite within my family. I definitely will be back to take my mom to try this spot as there's not many places in San Diego with "good" dim sum quality and quantity.

You can't really complain about this one. Diamond palace is a great place for a group of basically a lot. Had a party of 15 and they sat us pretty quickly typical Chinese fair with dim sum. I feel like this is a good base of what you would expect for Chinese food. The waiters are funny and the food was quick.

Location has a lot of parking. Very clean inside and very good for large groups. They have carts that go around w food as well. Food was so good I kept forgetting to take pictures of it. Employees are super friendly and service was very fast. They had several types of tea which was great for a rainy day. I would highly recommend this place, and I'll definitely be coming back again!

Good variety of dimsum, understaffed and slow to seat people, pu'erh tea of poor quality Dishes we liked: -Beef tripe- tender and flavorful -Hargow- big juicy shrimps -Osmanthus jelly- fine -Meat wrapped in beancurd skin with gravy 鮮竹卷- fine Dishes that need improvement -Fried mochi dumpling with the meat in it 咸水角-dough too thick, making it heavy and slightly hard -long life noodles with crab meat- crab was previously frozen, maybe canned? We expected chunks of fresh crab, but it was more like finely minced of crab substance? -pu erh tea- first steep was super light. We waited for the leaves to rehydrate an open. Second steep was even lighter in color. We reflected it to the waiter and he said you can always bring your own tea leaves and they will not charge you for tea. Overall, this place has the most dimsum choices in San Diego and still features dimsum carts. Service: wait staff and cart ladies were friendly and helpful. They don't have enough staff to clean up the tables though, leading to long waits before being seated.

Great place for Dim Sum! This time we were on a seafood dim sum quest. The har gow, siu mai, rice noodles, eggplant were absolutely delicious. The shrimp and fish saute were served with a light and subtly flavored sauce with snow peas and carrots. Special mention to the wonderful chili oil. It's made with a large combination of ingredients and is very tasty. The servers are helpful and the place is large and airy.

Best dimsum in San Diego for sure (dim sum standards in SD are quite sad). I would come here if I don't want to drive an hr or two! Every other dim sum place in SD has seemed to have fallen off over the past decade but the food here still tastes fresh and they have all my favorite options! I love that during lunch hours they still have the carts although dim sum is able to be ordered all day I believe! I have had some of their non dim sum items and they measure up to the other local Canto-style cuisine. I like the service here but I can also speak Chinese so take that as you will :) They have a lot of tables and some giant ones if you're looking to bring a big group! I've been coming since they opened and quality control seems to be on point so I'll continue coming here in the future!

Delicious experience. We planned to visit another Asian inspired location that was closed. This was impromptu. The prices were more than reasonable. The food was fresh with A LOT of selection from veggies, to steamed buns, and shumai. The servers were prompt, welcoming, and even comedic. One server was singing songs to us, Christmas and disco, and they had take out bags to bring our left overs home. Lots of refills on the tea and water! I'd definitely return for the flavor and service even though it's not at all close to where I live.

Pan fried pork buns were crispy on the bottom with a soft and pillowy bread and juicy meat filling. We also got the combination fried rice which was beautifully golden eggy and full of meat & shrimp. The courteous waitress guided us to our table and brought the menu and water right away. For this visit, we ordered the following dishes: West Lake Minced Beef Soup: The portion was large enough for 6 people. The lightly starched broth was nicely seasoned with hint of white pepper. In the soup, there were bits of minced beef, chopped green onion, and stirred egg whites. The simplistic soup was warm, velvety, and pleasantly flavored. 3 Item BBQ Combo (House Special Chicken, Roasted Duck, and Pork Belly): The house special chicken was nicely steamed, lightly seasoned, and with beautiful gelatinous skin. The roasted duck pieces were plump, with crispy skin and succulent meat. The pork belly had crispy thick skin, and tender meat with nice rendered fat without being overly greasy. Walnut Shrimp: The portion was quite generous for the price. The lightly battered shrimps had a nice firm texture and were covered with mayonnaise and sprinkled with sweetened and crispy walnuts. What a beautiful blend of taste and aroma. Left the restaurant heart-warmed and extremely satisfied. Highly recommended.

As for the food, we mostly came for the Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings), but they were unfortunately a bit of a letdown. The meat filling wasn't very flavorful and the texture felt pretty rubbery. On the bright side, the Fried Rice was solid and hit the spot. We also tried the Kung Pao Chicken, but it felt more like the "old-school Chinatown" style I remember as a kid as it's very heavy on the sweet fried bean paste and a bit too sugary for my taste, rather than being authentic Chinese. Both dumplings we tried were really good. The reason I went from four to five stars when updating my review. Omg the LAMB ones are some of the best I've had in San Diego. Easily. The ambiance is.. well, nothing fancy, but comfortable. Basic, but clean. We had a booth, so it was comfy. Highly recommend the green tea matcha with boba, half sweet. The beef with broccoli was yummy- I like that they didn't overcook the broccoli. Could've been a bit more beef though. We loved the shrimp and pork dumplings. Don't recommend the sampler dumplings plate as much. I like that they have small/large options for the dumplings so you can sample different ones.
