I asked to speak with a manager, but there wasn't one available--only the teenagers closing the restaurant. No one I saw was wearing a hair net. Excellent authentic Chicago Italian Beef sandwiches and deep-dish pizza!…read more We skipped eating before driving west from Baltimore to Frederick (Jun 2026) for the sole purpose of getting authentic Chicago Italian Beef sandwiches from Rosati's! It's a dense crispy Italian roll filled with tender long-simmered traditionally-seasoned lightly spicy thin-sliced lean beef. Never microwaved, because that would have a tragic impact on the texture of the beef. It's served with your choice of softly sautéed sweet green peppers, or giardiniera spicy pickled vegetables mix. We went with the sweet peppers which really complemented the savory flavors of the beef. And the sandwich has anywhere from a splash of savory au-jus to a full-soak. We got the juice on the side for dipping bite by bite. Rosati's kindly gave us two little cups, enough to make the sandwich fully "wet". We have it that way when we can handle a super-messy sandwich, but today, dipping was the wise move. They have great authentic Chicago-style deep-dish and "tavern-style" thin crust pizza here too. Today our heart was set on the Italian beef! This Rosati's is takeout, along the west side of a strip-mall just off the highway. It's easy to find, with plenty of parking. The owner has been there every time we've gone, which is a sure way to uphold quality, and they do!

I ordered takeout, but I will say that I did not realize in advance that the place would be basically a pure takeout with only a single table (albeit one that was well-attended during my visit). I've been to several of the big players in Chicago. The pizza here smells right, the sauce has the tang you'd expect. The crust didn't quite hold up for me, making for a messy pizza and not the most impressive flavor. Ordering a spinach pizza was a good decision as the spinach was abundant. A salad was robust in size, though they did not have my first choice dressing. A tiramisu made a nice divergence on a later date. They made two mistakes with my order, giving me a garlic bread with cheese that I'd ordered without, and not giving me a side of sweet peppers that I'd ordered. These weren't huge enough to make we want to drive back there to get corrective action on. Overall, I got the deep dish pizza I came for, and if I really had a hankering I could see ending up here again, but there are certainly areas for improvement.

I was wrong. The good news: online ordering process was easy and delivery was quick. The bad news: the pizza was not up to snuff. Crust was good, but toppings were - well, "skimpy" doesn't begin to describe it. Tiny, tiny drops of sausage spread unevenly across the pie. A few razor-thin slices of red onions and green peppers tossed willy-nilly about. The taste was all dough, little sauce, minimal cheese, no toppings. I've eaten (and made - yay Domino's!) many a pizza in my life, and this was far from the best. Very, very far. I really hate leaving less-than-great reviews but this pizza, this time was a long way from what I expected.

When I was growing up, I always loved Pizza Hut deep dish pizza or pan pizza. Nowadays, that flavor or type of pizza is non existent. Coming here and trying the deep dish really brought back memories. This is by far not real deep dish pizza. It is really pan pizza. It's not filled with sauce or toppings like a Chicago deep dish. What I liked was the texture and fluffiness of the crust as you bite into a slice. It satisfied what I was craving at the time and they did it well. This location is in the corner of a strip and the parking there is quite tight. I recommend parking a bit farther and walking a bit to avoid the hassle. The store is quite small so there is about 3 people's worth of space for social distancing. They do not take American Express. I learned that the hard way. Not the best pizza and they do not try to be. Only try them out for speed and bargain pizza. Or, in my case, if they offer something you crave.

The person at the counter who took our order was friendly, but after that, the service felt very dry and unclear. Once our pizza was ready, my name was called and the pizza was left on the counter in the pan. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take it myself or if it would be brought over. When I grabbed it, I also had to ask for plates because nothing was offered. Throughout the visit, there was very little guidance or customer interaction. When I went up to ask for a box, there was no acknowledgment at first -- just a quick question about size and that was it. No one checked in or asked how anything was. It also seemed like other customers were just as confused -- someone next to us didn't know what to do with their pan either and was told to leave it on top of the trash. The pizza itself was good and came out quickly, which is why I'd still order takeout again. But as far as dining in, I probably wouldn't do that again.

They almost made our list of places to go back to, but in the end, there are better places in the Frederick area for pizza. So, they get a 3, almost nearly good enough, but missed it by that much. However, our last few visits have been somewhat underwhelming, and during a recent visit we had a particularly disappointing experience with a white pizza. The pizza was hot and had just come out of the oven when I picked it up. I live only about five minutes away, yet by the time I got home, I noticed oil leaking onto my leather car seat. When I opened the box, it appeared as though olive oil had been poured over the entire pizza. The crust was completely saturated, the box itself was soaked through, and the top of the pizza was just as greasy as the bottom. The pizza was an oily mess and, frankly, inedible. At $24, it was a frustrating waste of money. We ate only some of the crust and ended up throwing the rest away. After posting my review, a reply was posted and asked to reach out so the situation could be addressed. I did, and the response was prompt. Shortly afterward, the store called me and explained that the pizza sauce had been prepared incorrectly with too much oil, and they acknowledged that the issue was their fault. They refunded the cost of the pizza and handled the matter professionally. I appreciate the quick response and willingness to make things right. Because of that, I'm happy to say I'm once again a satisfied customer and look forward to future visits.

Each one included a sandwich platter (Italian, ham, and turkey), a half‑tray of salad (I chose Greek and Caesar), two extra‑large pizzas (veggie, Margherita, meat, and Supreme), and a deluxe dessert tray with cheesecake, cannoli, brownies, and cookies. The food arrived right at 11:30 as promised. The manager even let me borrow the insulated pizza bags to keep everything warm until our lunch started, as long as I returned them afterward, which I really appreciated. Overall, the food was good and my colleagues enjoyed it. My only critique is the serving sizes. The Office Hero package is advertised to serve 20-30 people, but while we had plenty of sandwiches and desserts left over, we ran out of salads and pizzas. I think those portions could be increased to better match the rest of the package. Pricing felt affordable and reasonable compared to similar catering options. I would definitely order from them again.
