Still, sometimes you just have to have pizza. We've been fans of Vocelli for many years. They have outlets all over Maryland, so you are always close to good pizza. 1. Their boneless chicken wings are good (not great) 2. The pizza was pronounced great 3. Their salads were great. 4. their new appetizer menu is really interesting. Spousal Unit and I were tired so decided to order in. She orders a sausage and peppers pizza from Vocelli's. We've ordered cheese pizzas from them before so I thought we knew what to expect. I was wrong. The good news: online ordering process was easy and delivery was quick. The bad news: the pizza was not up to snuff. Crust was good, but toppings were - well, "skimpy" doesn't begin to describe it. Tiny, tiny drops of sausage spread unevenly across the pie. A few razor-thin slices of red onions and green peppers tossed willy-nilly about. The taste was all dough, little sauce, minimal cheese, no toppings. I am a basic person when it comes to pizza and I will say this is one of my go to places for cheese pizza. I also really like their cannolis. That being said the one time I branched put into toppings of chicken and mushrooms and such my stomach did not feel great the next day and I could barely taste the chicken. My family and I recently moved near this location from Germantown and have given a few different pizza places a shot before trying Vocelli's. The one in Germantown is known for not being that great, so I wasn't expecting much. I ordered a custom Topping Calzone and the rest of the family ordered various entrees/pizza. I was shocked/blown away by how good it was. I wanted to write a review then, but other things took priority. Low and behold about a month later and tonight we ordered again... this time strictly pizzas, and the quality was fantastic. I do live close, but the pizza literally tasted like they were driving from my next door neighbor's house. Super fresh. I do see that this place is overall a 3 out of 5, and I'm sure if I order again and it sucks I will update this, but most of those reviews were over 6 months ago. So maybe it's under new management? We had the thin crust special, cheese pizza, and a pepperoni pizza. The tomato sauce was excellent and the toppings on the special, peppers, red onions, sausage and pepperoni were fresh. The thin crust was baked to perfection. The kids loved the mozzarella cheese pizza and the pepperoni pizza was terrific with plenty of pepperoni and delicious red sauce Andes perfect crust. We've been ordering from here for years and it's been hit and miss. I do have my disappointments with food on occasions but every meal we've ordered in the last 2 weeks and prior has been great. The one thing lacking is the amount of pepperonis on a pizza. It seems very little. But the subs have been fantastic and the salads are fresh. I can even swap ingredients and add a couple things to the subs very easily! It's been great to have these so quickly delivered and so fresh! Delivery is always faster than they say. Vocelli is my go-to pizza if I'm craving plain cheese pizza, specifically their Quattro Cheese pizza. I don't remember what specific four cheeses they use but I love the blend, though it's not a white pizza since they use tomato sauce. I haven't tried their other pies because I'm one of those people that sticks with what they like! Anyway, the 2 or 3 times I've ordered delivery they have been on time. So last night, Super Bowl Sunday, I decided to order from here because they're the closest pizza place and I figured we'd have a long wait time so I wasn't surprised we were quoted 45-60 minutes. You can imagine how happy I was when the driver showed up in 30 minutes with my tasty pizza and wings. I'm not a wing lover per say but I ordered the Hot Buffalo wings for the bf. I wasn't expecting much from wings from a pizza chain but they were pretty good and were actually spicy! They cost $6.99 but I think there were 10 in the order. I agree with the other reviewer that they're not the cheapest pizza but they have online coupons on the website. I had been a repeat customer here for years. Never again. Didn't receive my order and was charged for it, refused a refund. I live in a condo and they did not read the ticket saying my door was in the back. My phone was broken at the time and could not contact them to let them know I didn't get my order. Called once I activated my new phone to explain the situation to Raul who basically told me he could do nothing because it had been several days, even though I explained I did not have a phone. Stated driver was lost and tried calling me. My phone had never rang, as I explained this they told me would call driver still 7pm and no pizza. I attempt to call again it was busy so driver comes and tell him to go away as I didn't want cold pizza. Called the store as kids wanted pizza asking for compensation to keep cold pizza said they would send us fresh pizza but who has another hour for pizza. We are very disappointed in our last pizza order, which was a delivery. Their pizza has always been delicious, unique and fresh tasting. Something has changed. The pizza we received was hot(ish) but tasted warmed over as if it had been pre-made and heated up in the oven. My boyfriend and I decided to try Vocelli because we wanted to order a salad, and our regular pizza delivery place does not have salads. We should have skipped the salad and skipped Vocelli altogether. The large salad was a sufficient portion for two, but the cost ($7) was outrageous for the salad we received. For $7, I would expect actual mixed greens (as advertised on their website)--not iceberg lettuce with one green mixed in. Also, the majority of the salad was olives and lettuce. There were very few other ingredients. It certainly was not worth the cost. The pizza was also overpriced compared to pizza from other restaurants we enjoy. We shared a large with artichokes, spinach, olives, and red onions. The price was close to $20 and--like the salad--the majority of the toppings we received were olives. The cheese tasted waxy, the crust was chewy, and the sauce was skimpy. It reminded me of the frozen pizzas you can purchase for school fundraisers. We've had better pizza from the freezer section of the grocery store. We will not be ordering from Vocelli again. Their food was overall inferior and not nearly worth the price. read more

I tried their lunch special - a Club sub which comes with a soda. Delivery was within 30 minutes and the ingredients were fresh. The sub was tasty but it did not taste like a Club. Their menu shows that they put melted mozzarella on basically every sub which seems to be their way of making everything Italian. But the mozzarella overpowers all the other ingredients. I would have much preferred American or Swiss (or both) like traditional clubs. The next time (if there is a next time), I think I'll try a Stromboli or a pizza instead. read more

I used to LOVE this chain's Neopolitan (lg., thin crust) cheese steak pizza when I lived in Germantown, but trying the same here was a total disaster. There was no 'steak' to be found, and it is supposed to have a garlic white sauce, which instead they used the garlic butter dipping sauce stuff, just poured it on until it was SWIMMING in fake butter grease that soaked through the cardboard box in 5 minutes, just disgusting. And the cheese was not good quality, didn't melt right, not smooth, it was congealed gunky stuff. And it cost $20! I ate 1 piece and then actually gave the whole thing away to a family I met in the laundromat. Also tried the garlic 'rolls', they tasted OK but were NOT 'rolls', the size was just garlic KNOTS, and they were a dollar each, what a rip-off. Maybe the strombolis are decent, I don't know (but kinda doubt it), but I'm never going to find out, not worth going back to try again. Horrible experience. read more

Ordered Vocelli for the first time for my son's birthday party and I loved it. The pies were a huge hit with friends and family; some of them new of their reputation from their locations in Northern VA. I have to say they are the best of the delivery pizza joints. Great toppings (crust was awesome); my son always, always leaves the crust off every pizza but finished the crust on the gourmet pie. They have an extensive menu with salads and paninis which we will have to try later. Caveat to all the pizza afficianados, they are still a delivery company and Vocelli doesn't compare to Il Forno or even the brick oven pizzas of Danielle's but all in all pretty tasty! read more

Today the ol lady and I had Vocelli pizza. Because it was our first time we only ordered a cheese pizza. I feel if someone can't make a decent cheese pizza then they're not worth ordering from again. A young man named Jimmy took our order. He wad quite friendly. I like that in a food service employee. He also made our pizza. Did not take long at all. After it was finished we took it home to eat It was magnificent! Just the right amount of cheese and sauce and their crust has a locely buttery taste. So good! I will definitely tell more people to eat from this fine establishment While we waited we did notice the prices were a wee bit high. We ordered pizza from Vocelli's based on a flyer we received in the mail and the fact we'd seen people up the street order from them. To say it was a disappointment would be an understatement. The pizza cost $22 (before the tip for the driver) for a three topping, thin crust pizza (the same size/topping combo from Pizza Hut costs us $14 and it is 2" in diameter wider). And when they say "thin crust," they really mean it. With extra cheese on it, the pizza was still less than 1/4" thick, less than half as thick as pizza we get from other places. The pizza was very bland, too. Anyway, I won't be ordering any more pizza from this place. The price was nowhere near worth it for what we got. If you're considering them....don't. read more

Tonight at 5:39pm I called up Vocelli's of Frederick, MD via an 800# from an advertisement and ordered pizza. I have a coupon that states quite clearly that I could get 2 piccolo pizzas for $9.99 delivered. I added one more piccolo at $4.99 which they said they'd bring for free delivery because they were already coming out here. The total.. $17 and some change. I questioned that as being more expensive than it should be and was told there's a $1.50 delivery fee. I asked about removing the extra pizza and was told there's still a delivery fee... there's always a delivery fee. FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE BAD AT MATH, let me reiterate that $9.99 plus $1.50 is $11.49 delivered. $11.49 is NOT equal to $9.99. So I got the pizza ordered after filing a complaint with your customer service. They stated that the pizza would be here in "30 to 40 minutes" so I waited... and waited... and waited. IT TOOK MORE THAN AN HOUR AND TEN MINUTES for the idiots at your store to make THREE PICCOLO PIZZAS. I'm not talking about any special toppings.. I'm talking about THREE CHEESE PIZZAS. I mean, holy cow, I can make 3 cheese pizzas cooked and driven from there to here in 30 MINUTES and I only make my own pizza once every couple weeks. I even called up your number again during that time to inquire about what was taking so long and ask about cancelling. I was told that the pizza was "on it's way" so I didn't cancel and decided to wait longer. It doesn't take 30 minutes to drive to my house from a site only 5 miles away. I've driven the route many times and it only takes 8 minutes. Your employees must have lied to me in order to keep me from cancelling the order. So thanks a lot Vocelli's. I had planned to have a picnic out with my family in a park but by the time the pizza arrived it was getting dark, the pizza looked unappetizing, and the family picnic was ruined because your businesscan't be counted on for something as simple as CHEESE PIZZAS. NOT Worth the buck! This Vocelli's can't say the others is horrible with laying on the toppings. I ordered and paid for triple cheese and literally got one layer of cheese. I must admit they are really quick delivering... really. Their prices are not worth it. I paid $50 for 2 large pizza's w/triple cheese and cheese sticks. Vocelli Pizza serves up a really yummy pie indeed. I (we) usually hit them up on their three topping pizza at full menu price and get the second one for free carry out special. I order the regular crust with cheese w/ triple pepperoni. Vocelli uses small pepperoni that bakes up to a nice crispy texture; giving it a unique flavor. Vocelli does not use the cheap greasy pepperoni. Definitely a worthy pie that's close to home. read more
