My partner and I decided to have dinner at Domek during our over-nighter in Eugene. We arrived around 18:00 without a reservation, but Sarah (co-owner and maître d') gave us spots at the bar and introduced the restaurant and Chef Andrew's (co-owner and hubby) menu to us. The farmer's cheese and pickled veggies appetiser was a delicious and creamy start to our dining experience. We had drinks and also shared the beef pierogi...YUM! I hope the restaurant is successful and enjoyed by the community. I highly recommend you stop by Domek.

This new bistro is sure to surprise you with stunningly delicious Eastern European food, kind and classic service, and a gorgeous indoor space. After our experience, we will be back! Definitely for date nights and celebrations, Domek was where my husband and I decided to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary dinner. We ordered two begin plates, two entrées, a main, and dessert, with a few drinks in between. Food: 1) The two must-haves: Croquettes and Lángos! The balance of flavors and textures on these two dishes were surprising, delightful, and intense. These were my personal favorites of the entire night. Seriously, order this. 2) Fresh and delicious: Spring pea tartine and shrimp toast. The tartine was a pea and mint celebration, and was almost like a large salad with the crunchy fresh peas on top. The shrimp toast paired very buttery brioche against bright small shrimp, and balanced together nicely. 3) Main: Chicken paprikas. We were recommended this as their most popular dish twice, so we went for it - very yummy, the chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and fresh with crispy seasoned skin - a feat! All in all a well-executed chicken dish. I think next time we'll try a different main, for our tastes! 4) Dessert: Forgetting the name, it was a stacked dessert with sheets of puff pastry, a vanilla-bay pastry crème, walnut sauce, and a bay syrup. SO GOOD! My husband paired this with a sip of Royal Tokaji and he was in absolute heaven. Wine: We wished there were just a few more options on the by-the-glass menu! But my husband settled on a glass he enjoyed after trying out a splash of two of the others on the white wine list. However, our server handled all our preferences well and we had no complaints. We hope to see more Eastern European options to add to the theme! We are very glad they are adding Tokaji. Service: Incredibly kind, outgoing, and warm service. We were very much happy with the way this bistro was being handled. It felt hospitable and classy. I think this is a major selling point for Domek, and they should keep it up, given how important this aspect is for keeping customers coming back to any establishment.

From the moment we entered this Eastern European fine restaurant we had a great time. The hostess and wait staff were so welcoming we felt right at home from the start. There were three in our party and we tried just about everything on the intriguing menu. Hard to decide what our favorites were, all were marvelous. Pirogies and dumplings were the best ever. The chef certainly knows how to take things up a notch. Desserts were also award winning special attractions. The atmosphere is bright and very attractively comfortable, much better than the darker layout of former residents at the intimate building. This is a true gem. A great culinary addition to Eugene.

Lamb pelmeni - A white bowl contains several dumplings submerged in broth, topped with a poached egg, microgreens, and herbs. The dish is presented on a wooden table, highlighting a simple yet elegant presentation of Eastern European-inspired cuisine.

Eugene has many restaurants with minimal waitstaff, no host, QR code ordering so it was a breath of fresh air to come to Domek and be greeted by a host, have water served immediately and then be greeted by a waiter with an in-depth knowledge of the menu that checked on us frequently. I loved the service. It made the prices, which are expensive more tolerable. Every bite of food was delicious. Every bit of food I saw the tables around me eating looked delicious. Sometimes I go to a restaurant and want to taste everything in the menu, this is one of those places. I am looking forward to returning. It was easy to get a reservation for 5 PM on the weekend, when we left the place was packed. My favorite bite of the night was the shrimp toast. This is a do not miss dish. My cocktail was perfectly balanced Overall, a very nice addition to the Eugene dining scene!!

Delicious food with gourmet twists and beautiful presentation. Lots of vegetarian options that went way beyond the typical veggie or pasta plate. Excellent service.

I followed another couple in and overheard another table expressing the regret that they had not spent more time so they could eat here again... not too bad for overheard customers reviews. The table behind me ordered a crab and crusted halibut with a side of linguine that you can order it with Alfredo, marinara, or sausage sauce. Next time. I was here for the breakfast special which includes fluffy pancakes, bacon and eggs and fresh fruit...but on another day I would need to try the brisket Benedict. Chef Mari, the Bulgarian name sake of the kitchen, smokes the brisket in house. Breakfast is served all day; they are only closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. I decided to order a virgin Loaded Bloody Mary (they also have a Bloody Maria which is tequila). Sarah the server was the bartender and knew what she was doing. Bloody Virgin Mary came with steaming hot shrimp and just made bacon. Holy mother of God. Spiced with solid, well-deserved tangy kick...to off set the heat. Absolutely beautiful. The pancakes were incredible and lavishly covered with a rich blueberry compote that was thankfully not too sweet. The bacon was thick but not too thick and just salty in just the best way. Very excited about coming back for the other dishes that I saw being served. That's a good sign. Then Mari came out from the kitchen to say hello to some of us. Wonderful.

Unlike most places that make the dish look like a lot by packing it on a small plate, this one had a massive plate and piled it high. Even the kid's meal was the size of an adult portion! My pad Thai was supposed to be a level 4 spice, but it wasn't spicy at all, and it was a bit on the sweeter side -- not overwhelming, but sweeter than I expected. I also tried the house special fried rice, which was gigantic but sadly lacked flavor. I really didn't enjoy it. The chicken tenders were crispy but a little dry. However, the flourless chocolate cake was amazing! I'd never had it before, but it was so rich and delicious. Highly recommend that dessert! I'm giving 4 stars mainly because of the huge portion sizes. The food overall would probably be closer to 3 stars for me, but the portions definitely stood out. As for the ambiance, it wasn't the prettiest place, definitely an old-school vibe, but it was huge and clean, so no complaints there. Service was just your standard, nothing extraordinary.

The yakisoba noodles were drenched in sauce and didn't taste right, little flavor other than just sauce overload. Also had a pasta dish with chicken that was overcooked and dry. So I'll probably go back for a couple things, but just a little disappointed in some of the food.
