Omg such great food and a great place to have dinner with friends. On Saturday, highly suggest making a reservation. When we got in the place was packed! The noise was not too loud though. Also, due to the amount of people, it was a bit of a 'slow' dining experience. Not a complaint just a note. We all got different dishes and all were delicious. I will say the seasonal dish I got, beef bourguignon, was more steak in bourguignon sauce. It was still amazing, but not the soft cooked for hours steak I'm used to. The Karat cake was sooo rich but to die for. My only "issue" is seeing if something is vegan or gluten-free as the markers are black on a DARK green (photo added) but you could always ask if there is any concerns. Loved it all. read more

I had work lunch here several years ago and it was very good. Decided to give it a try on my own as take out. What a great dinner choice! The Mushroom Ravioli was cooked perfectly. The pasta had good chew to it and an excellent balance of filling to pasta. One could easily eat a whole ravioli disc in one bite, but they are also big enough to cut into two bites each. I can't tell you what mushrooms, herbs or other ingredients were in the filling but it was good and the pieces of mushroom added additional chew without being rubbery to the bite. Sadly the sauce had broken but the flavor was excellent. Just the right amount of blue cheese crumbles to add nice pungent tangy notes. The small hazelnut pieces added a nice crunchy texture to offset the creamy soft bites of ravioli and sauce. Truly a delicious plate of food. Though the portion in the to-go pan looks small, it is in fact quite generous. I put all of it on my plate for the photo but only ate half and have enough left for lunch tomorrow. The CB Cake (crème brûlée) is a lot of sweet decadence. I was unable to identify any actual flavor to the slice other than to say it was sweet. I've had champagne but never champagne cake. The color is what I consider "champagne" but the taste was not. The cake itself is very light and moist. But not sweet or flavorful. The crème brûlée filling between cake layers is a cool, thick custard (kind of like flan) but again didn't really find any stand out flavor, not even vanilla. The cream cheese frosting was just as any classic cream cheese frosting, sweet and creamy. The "burnt sugar glaze/drizzle is plentiful and very very sweet! Three bites of cake and filling was plenty to taste and I have it in the fridge waiting for future tastes and nibbles. Not saying this CB Cake's a bad choice by any means just a very sweet one! Overall, a fantastic dinner and I highly recommend giving the MUSHROOM RAVIOLI a try! read more

I visited Amadeus over eight years ago for lunch. Good it see it still in business after all that time. The restaurant industry is brutal. This time was a dinner visit: - Salmon: three at our table of four ordered this. Very well prepared dish. - Cod: On the daily, not the regular, menu. Similarly well prepared. My wife had this, just as good as the salmon dish. - Lemon Mousse: I'm not a dessert person but the table insisted we get something. Delicious. Decadent. The restaurant was mostly empty but for some reason they couldn't seat us for an extended period of time, the hostess had no idea how to handle the situation. Kinda weird and rude and unreal. Food was good but smallish portions. Dessert was supposed to be a crème brûlée but it was made with sour cream, like a Swedish cream. It was NOT crème brûlée but you'd think that the chef would warn you about that? Disappointed. All the dishes were $36 and up but the two we had were good and fair. Brisket was very good but the beef stroganoff lacked a strong flavor and the beef came in 3 hunks instead slices like traditional stroganoff. The interior design was plain and uninteresting. Came here from out of town. You definitely need reservations. Even the bar is reservations only. They have a nice starter of fresh hummus and chips. Very light and flavorful. Next we had the Vravas potatoes- smashed yukon gold with a touch of spice - excellent. My husband had the Korean short ribs with couscous. So very good with a lot of flavor. The menu matched that ambience. There was nothing pretentious but every bite was really great. I had the cod, crispy coating with moist juicy fish on the inside. And the Couscous was amazing. Husband had the classic, a generous portion of steak medallions with oh so creamy mashed potatoes. They were happy to open the bottle of wine we brought, a $15 corking fee is very reasonable. The food varied. We both had the half portion Caesar Salad, which was awful. Don't know what they put it in to give it such an off-putting taste. I got the Amadeus burger and I asked for med to med well - with a little pink - it was charred - way overdone . I wanted to send back but didn't see our waitress - she didn't come by to see how everything was . When she finally game around and I said it was not good she had no solutions . My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary at Amadeus. The food was fantastic! The atmosphere was fancy but not pretentious. There was no rush to get us out of the restaurant after we finished eating. Our dinner was fantastic and we saved room for dessert. The chocolate cake was amazing! Love this place! I don't make it to Salem frequently, but do look forward to dining here when in town. The ambiance and the artwork set the mood and the service is friendly. We started with the street corn and they also brought a complimentary hummus & chips. For the mains I had the Chicken Schnitzel which was cooked perfectly. We had the Mezcal Gnocchi which had some nice smokiness to it, the Amadeus Burger and Spanakopita. Everyone enjoyed their meals but we made sure to leave room for dessert. They have an extensive dessert menu (photo attached) due to their on-site bakery so it was hard to choose. The Namaste Cake was excellent and the perfect ending to the meal. read more

Oh, Amadeus, you've changed. Once the quintessential choice for high-end dining in Salem, Amadeus was a splurge-worthy destination, albeit a bit pricey. However, as inflation has steadily risen, a pleasant surprise has been Amadeus's consistent pricing. What once felt steep at $25 for an entrée now seems almost reasonable, albeit still a touch on the high end. The space is, well, nice. "Comfortably understated", perhaps. Always clean, often seasonally-decorated. The dining room doesn't give you a "wow" moment at a first entry, but it never needed to. Now, the drinks are where it's at. Amadeus has an awesome cocktail menu, wonderfully combining seasonal takes on classics with new and creative drinks. A good beverage definitely adds something substantial to the whole experience. And now, the food. A full paragraph and I haven't mentioned it yet! Unfortunately, there's a reason for that. Amadeus's food quality has gone down even as its accessibility has climbed. The menu shows little innovation, and for how much of it stays the same at all times, the dishes are neither particularly memorable nor particularly well-prepared. Don't mistake me, a dinner at Amadeus is never offensive, it just sometimes fails to impress. However, there's no need to worry -- you can plan around this obstacle! In particular, I've found the kitchen at Amadeus can really struggle to keep up with a full dining room, and avoid coming here on holidays or summer weekends. A reasonable rule of thumb, I've found, is that if I can only get seated on a particular night by reservation, I probably don't want to make a reservation that night. Amadeus may not knock your socks off, but they are capable and present well. They have been, are, and will continue to be, high on my "date nights" list, and it's a good place for them. It's very possible to have a wonderful experience at Amadeus, and having good company just makes those wonderful experiences far more likely. read more

Intially we got a table in the back.IT was nice, but had a really bright light shining down on the table that took away from the romantic atmosphereand was bothering my wife's eyes with the brightness. Our wait person was nice enough to move us to a table along the wall that was much easier on the eyes. 1 - NOFFEE EXCEPT DECAF. Huh? Sorry, I don't do decaf. Negates the whole point of drinking coffee for me. 2 - The food was good, but for the price we paid($80) we were not offered any bread (an extra $10 if we wanted it, wow) and there were no sides of anything with what we ordered. My wife's order was swimming in sauce. I question the value of having to pay as much as we did for what we received. 3 - The dessert was good, but again, NO COFFEE. Our wait person was attentive and nice, so I have to give her credit for that. Based on the food value which was questionable and NO COFFEE, I really doubt we will come back. read more

Fabulous restaurant, you must try. The ambience is very comfortable and little bit higher end with lots of lovely artwork. Service is fantastic, very attentive. But the food is sooo delicious. I highly recommend the meatballs, which is really spaghetti & meatballs. First, I don't like spaghetti & red sauce but I loved this. The sauce had great depth of complex flavor. The noodles are thicker than regular spaghetti & cooked to perfection. And the meatballs themselves are moist, flavorful & tender. Such an outstanding plate of food. Hubby had the beef stroganoff which was excellent too. The beef used is only the highest quality and was just perfection. They have an extensive dessert menu. My only regret is that we couldn't try more. I went with the lemon bar which was huge and perfectly tart & lemony. I've been coming here for years now and the place always produces some of the best entrees and values in the Willamette valley. This is a revised review over the course of 5 years because the place is truly one of a kind. Somebody definitely knows what they are doing. Service is impeccable as well. The owner Diana cares about not only the community, but her staff because it really shows in the execution from start to finish. There are many price points on this menu to tantalize the most sophisticated taste buds, but still stay in a budget to where everyone can enjoy great food. I also love the idea of her Multicultural menu Under One Roof. From classic french, to Northern Italian and modern American dishes. Ordered the seasonal special of pork and beans. The meal was absolutely phenomenal. The cook on the pork was perfect and it was seasoned wonderfully. The beans broccolini and apple bacon topping all blended perfectly with the entire dish. Would absolutely visit again when in Salem. The staff wonderful and all were very happy to see our 4 month old daughter. The kitchen seemed to be a little behind so the meals came out I'm guessing a little later than the servers would have liked but they gave us some chips and hummus to help free of charge.
