As longtime Salem residents, my husband and I were thrilled when Adobe opened. We don't understand ANY negative reviews for a place whose attention to detail, in every way, is so extraordinary. The ingredients are so carefully sourced -- and you can taste it in every bite! The owner and staff are so welcoming, AND so accomodating. If something isn't right, they'll do everything they can to fix it. So, we suggest setting all personal negativity aside, including any unhappiness in ones own life or family or country (!), and not project it outward, and just enjoy the concerted efforts of a restaurant that so clearly wants things to be as good as they possibly can. We had a super dinner tonight with excellent salmon ceviche, camarones a la diabla, included Adobe Old Fashion, house margarita, Abecela Tempranillo Fiesta, and finally, an exquisite Tres Leche cake. Our waiter, Ivan, was extremely knowledgeable, describing the menu and very courteous. We will definitely come here for their Taco Tuesday or Brunch menus. Don't list menu items as GF, V, or VG if they are not those things! 1. Family dined at the restaurant 5/29/26 with a serious gluten allergy and dairy allergy. The menu lists numerous gluten-free items and vegan items. Allergies were clearly stated at the beginning of the dining experience. - Almost ordered the Lomo Saltado (labeled GF) and the menu states that it contains soy sauce (not tamari, a GF substitute). We asked if it was gluten free (as we know soy sauce is absolutely not gf) confirmed with the kitchen that it did in fact contain soy sauce and was not gluten free. - ordered a GF and Vegan cake, it was served with sweetened condensed milk. Once again confirmed by the server/kitchen. The condensed milk was supposed to be "decoration". - family communicated multiple times about listed and unlisted allergens--some of the menu items contained no icons about being gluten-free, and were in fact gluten-free (no cross contamination either) **IF YOU EAT HERE PLEASE BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR ABOUT YOUR ALLERGIES AND CHECK WITH THE KITCHEN. It is completely irresponsible to list items as allergen-free on a menu when they actually contain those ingredients. The same goes for vegan and vegetarian options. 2. The reason this review is not 0-1 stars is the server. She demonstrated a clear desire to learn about the menu items, communicate with the kitchen, and accommodate as necessary while maintaining a positive and professional attitude; this review is in no way a knock on her service skills. 3. Someone came out after the meal without introducing themselves or providing their position and simply asked how the food was. After some back and forth, they asked what the restaurant could do to provide a positive experience, and we thought it was fair for the fake-vegan dessert to be comped. The kitchen comped the two desserts that were ordered, which was very much appreciated. They also stated that the allergen issues would never happen again. Unfortunately the positives aspects of this dining experience were overshadowed by the complete lack of understanding when it came to common allergens. The restaurant location is one we frequented in the past, the redesigned layout is very nice. We had a late dinner on a Saturday and enjoyed the live DJ. Great experience! Hit this spot based on the regular menu for thanksgiving day, for a girls dinner. Surprise they had a holiday menu, and zero regrets on it! The turkey holiday tamale was an amazing creation to start the dinner, the steak for the main course was tender and flavorful and a lovely dessert was just the topper on the meal. The vibe was great, soft lighting, cozy feelings while with a very intimate group. The staff was kind and checked in several times so thank you for a great evening! Three of us met for dinner and the service was very leisurely paced, which we liked. Our server was engaging and checked in often, which we also liked. Rice was a little on the gelatinous side on two of our dinners and one found her chicken wasn't well seasoned. Other than that, the mocktails, steaks and desserts were great. Husband and I walked in on a whim for date night. Some of the strongest drinks I've had in Salem! The appetizer sampler was good - fresh house made guac is on point! Tacos were super yummy too. We split a tres leches cake for dessert, which I don't usually enjoy... but it was delicious!! So fresh! The service was a bit on the slower side, but it was a random Thursday night and we enjoyed not being rushed. It definitely felt okay to linger and talk which was lovely. The pre fix menu was a delicious spin on the traditional dishes - cornbread tamales, pear salad, steak and gnocchi mains, and chocolate torte and tres leches fur dessert. Really nice meal! The Papas con Carne was the winner on the table but honestly everything was craveablr! Loved the Pork Belly tacos and the salad was a really good value. We didn't get to try the regular drinks because my friend and I are pregnant, but the mocktails were delicious! They were easily able to make accommodations for one of party members who had some dietary restrictions which is definitely hard to find in Salem! It is definitely a restaurant you want to leave yourself some time to enjoy because it can take a little longer, but it was perfect for us because my girlfriends and I just wanted to visit! The tostones were a big hit, but was hoping for a mojo dip with them. Otherwise, the food was a bit bland, and I think I know why: some Salemites are scared of spice/seasoning and they're the squeaky wheels. I can tell by the menu descriptions that this chef wants to wow us, but this locale can sometimes favor the unbold. Dear, chef. Do not be swayed by the coupon clipping crowd. Real diners are here, and they will find you, and if they return it will not be for the decor or service. We want unapologetic fresh cuisine. If a dish is a Diablo, please make it melt my face. If Karen thinks it's too spicy, she should have to pay double, and possibly be publicly shamed. The menu is very vegan friendly and allergy conscious, and that is much appreciated.
