Tonight was a great night. We started with great cocktails and wine. Jessica recommended great wines and was delightful and attentive. I had the lemon pasta with chicken and my Caesar salad with chicken. Delicious. And for dessert I had the affogato with amaretto added. We sat outside with an incredible view as well. We've been here a couple times. Food is not bad. Service is excellent and the view is lovely. We did two different types of pasta and honestly, they looked and tasted about the same. For this eatery, it's the river front views and the outdoor patio seating that is a key selling point for hotel guests and friends to meet up for lunch or dinner. The menu here is pretty much standard American fare, that covers all the bases, to satisfy a broad range of clientele. On this late dinner occasion, my wife ordered the Top Sirloin entree, that came with salad greens and fingerling potatoes. Per her response, the Top Sirloin was nothing remarkable and the sides were very tasty. For me, I ordered the Halibut Fish & Chips. On first impressions, my Halibut Fish was drowning in a bed of Fries. The Halibut was very tasty and moist and I just wish there were more Halibut pieces to finish up almost half a plate of fries. In my honest opinion, the Territory restaurant has a built-in captured audience & clientele, from the hotel, as well as being one of the few higher end restaurant in the Independence/Monmouth area. As stated earlier, the river front views is the big draw, that will bring in customers. But I really think, for the portions being offered, at the current pricing point, the food quality needs to be kicked up a notch or two, to keep hotel guests happy or area residents coming back as frequent restaurant patrons and not just a one and done visit. read more

Excellent food, beverages, and service. No, they were all superlative. The outdoor seating area was enclosed by glass and heated by decorative open-flame propane heaters that kept us warm. I had the Cajun Mac n' cheese... almost as good as that which my girlfriend/partner makes. I sampled everyone else's entrees, and the food was excellent. The portions were generous, The adult beverages were also generous. And delicious. Independence needed an excellent restaurant and Territory deserves the title of the town's best. What happened to this place? It used to have great food, not anymore! It was early, before 5:00 but no one was there. The menu was scant and very hard to read. The lemon chicken breast had no flavor of lemon. The Bartender and bus boy/waiter were very helpful and friendly. Territory was a place we brought out of town friends, no more! Was very excited to try this place but unfortunately it was no were close to our expectations. The view and location was very promising but that was the best part of the place. Start with the appetizers.. the oysters rock were deep fried but cold. The caeser salad dressing tasted store bought right out of the bottle. We then ordered the NY steak.. well that was one of the worst steaks I have ever had at a restaurant. The quality was horrible and the cook on it was not medium rare. My wife's margarita was good at first but then the next one she ordered had some weird looking floaters in it. Sent it back to get remade but then it came back again with more floaters in it, and completely different than the first one. Service was not great.. took our plates, but then I had to track the waiter down to get the check. He was not attentive and didn't really check in on how our food was.. if he had, my wife and I would of sent it back. By far, would not recommend at all. Maybe they have a good burger but at a place charging the prices that they do, you would expect a a decent meal. You will not find that there. Don't waste your money. read more

We really liked this place. Well the food and drinks were good anyway. The Elderflower Old Fashioned was so good, we went again for another meal within a week. The first visit I had fish and chips, hubby had andouille mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was a good size serving, the fish and chips were three smallish pieces and lots of chips, too much to finish. Both were good and we will have them again. The next time, we both had the New York steak. Now those were really good. I had the bleu cheese butter, hubby had the bourbon butter. Served with in-season vegetables and potatoes. All cooked perfectly and delicious. We also shared a Caesar salad, which was good, not great, but good. We had dinner here last night and loved it! We had the Territory Burger which has a nice slab of brisket on it. Got bbq sauce on the side. Best burger I have had . So damn delicious. We also ordered the Rogue Burger which has a bleu cheese cream sauce. Honestly did not try it because I was so full from my half of the Territory Burger and delicious crispy fries! Food is ok. However, a$37 steak should be cooked properly.unfortunately it wasn't. Service or lack thereof was the real killer. There are so many better options nearby. I don't recommend the restaurant at all. The bartender was the final straw. I've never seen a bartender pour wine out of the bottle so poorly, nor make a mess and completely ignore that he did anything. Save yourself some grief. The cuisine is American pub for the most part. The ambiance, particularly in warmer months with an atrium and deck is open and inviting with views of the Willamette River. The quality is above average. The service depends. At less busy times , such as lunch the wait staff are pleasant and timing is reasonable. Our dinner took over forty-five minutes to arrive even with numerous inquiries to the staff. Once the order was taken our server vanished; the bar tender took over but we were never informed of this. This place surprised us, it's so great! ALL of our meals (party of five) were fantastic, as were the appetizers! Oysters Rock were a great fried take on oysters Rockefeller, complete with a spicy aioli. Brussels sprouts were terrific, too. The pork belly risotto was melt-in-your-mouth good, and the burgers were fantastic. Fries were perfect. Cajun mac n cheese was sooo tasty. Drinks were quick and yummy, and service was excellent. Inside seemed very cold and needs some plants or something to warm it up.Prices were high, and the biggest complaint we had was that they charged $4 for a very small portion , 4 small slices of a baguette , no butter ,and also when we requested some additional salad dressing for the large salad they charged an additional 75 cents!! Outrageous charges ! Very disappointing.I have never been charged for additional salad dressing! I wonder if we had requested extra Ketchup for our fries if they would have charged us for that too! First and foremost, it's all about location. A close second is the food. Both are extraordinary. Fish and chips was top notch. Crispy fish was seasoned well and cook properly. First time at the Territory. I grew up in Independence and have heard mixed reviews about this place. Finally decided to get it a try and glad I did. The food and service was good but their menu was limited. I ordered the triple pork burger which hit the spot and their fries were cooked to the perfect crisp. I bought these gift certificates last Christmas as part of Territory Restaurants holiday promotion. I've used similar certificates several times in the past 2+ years without any problems. However this past Sunday, the new manager at Territory declined to accept the certificate stating it was for the hotel only and not the restaurant. Yet at the time of purchase, as in years past, the restaurant was included and accepted them. If you have these, you might want to check and see if they will be accepted. So far, the manager has declined to return my calls inquiring about this. read more

They were all good, although all very sweet. Watermelon, blueberry, strawberry and peach. I would've preferred a lot less sugar and tart with more freshly squeezed juice, but they were tasty nonetheless Skillet cookie- Can you ever go wrong with a mini cast iron pan of chocolate chip cookie and ice cream on top? Very unsatisfactory service. Portions were too small for the quality/price ratio. Fish and chips came with one small piece of fish, "garlic aoli" was basically Mayo, burger was way too small for the bun, and flavor just wasn't there. I'd expect a lot more for such an expensive place. I anticipated this place opening for so long and am so let down. On top of everything, we KINDLY expressed our concern about portions, lack of products on the menu, missing items on the menu, and length of service, and they still didn't discount anything. Even after bringing the check and us specifically asking for some sort of discount (due to items not being on our orders, and only being told AFTER ordering) and they still didn't do it. This place needs some major help or a revamp of their menu and service if they want to succeed as a business. read more

We really try to like this place. We come every few months to see if it has improved, but this was the worst yet. The highlights of the evening: Slow service, absent server, wrong food order which delayed the already glacial pace of service, had to go get my own silverware and napkins, had to constantly get up to find staff. Fish and chips is a pretty small portion. Fish tacos were good, but 45 minutes is too long when you're hungry. As a bonus, the waitress actually tried to tell us what a good waitress she is.
