Nice staff, food was below average. They were short staffed but food just wasn't that good.

Gilgamesh Brewing - Independence

Stopped into Gilgamesh Brewing while traveling for work and completely forgot it was St. Patrick's…read moreDay. Walked in expecting a normal dinner, immediately realized we had made a tactical error in the best way possible. The place was packed, loud, and had that kind of energy you can't really fake. Solid 10/10 on vibes if you're in the mood for it (and even if you're not, you adjust quickly). Despite being clearly short staffed, the service was impressively good. Not "everything is perfectly on time" good, but "everyone is working hard, communicating, and actually cares" good. They were very upfront and apologetic about the delays, which honestly went a long way. Food came out a bit slower than usual (again, not surprising given the circumstances), but overall I'd put it at a strong 8/10. Nothing overhyped, just well-executed and worth ordering again. I had the classic lager and it was meh. This is very subjective I realize but I'd rate it a 4 or 5/10. All things considered, it could have easily been a frustrating experience walking in on one of the busiest nights of the year, but it wasn't. Credit to the staff for keeping things running and keeping the tone positive. I'd come back, ideally on a slightly less festive evening, but also kind of glad I saw it at full capacity.

I sent an email and the baker responded that they used the recipe from Betty Crocker's The Cooky Book - which was exactly what my Mom used. Their pastries are superb, and not too sweet. Flaky croissants, Danish's with ripe local fruit, cinnamon rolls with and without raisins (I'm team raisin). Their quiche is delicious - some have a potato crust. Their sandwiches are generous and every soup I've tried is absolutely more-ish. The staff is friendly, kind, and involved in their community. They have a fund, kept up by them and other downtown businesses, that assures the UPS driver never pays for his lunch (I love this so much.). Since Nov. 1, they're offering 1/2 sandwich + soup lunch free to those who receive SNAP benefits. (Anyone can donate $$ to keep that going) Stop by and support this awesome local business!

This is my go-to when I need lunch for a staff meeting, baked goods for a special event, and/or just a yummy snack. Here's what we've had AND highly recommend: Chocolate cupcakes Lemon cupcakes ANY deli sandwich on their made-fresh-daily focaccia bread. (you're welcome) Scones (All flavors, but my favorites are the hazelnut chocolate chip & the maple & the lemon flavors) Hubby loves all the danishes (esp. the berry ones) This place is a little gem in town that shouldn't be missed. Enjoy!

It's not like they're stacking these dishes in the bathroom or near tables to be used for dining. The vibe here is super pleasant. I love the airport theme with model planes hung about the dining area. There isn't a whole lot of seating, so it gets packed fast, even on a weekday like when I went with my family. There is plenty of parking, though, so no worries about that. The service is fantastic. They have friendly personalities and are attentive. You could tell they got to know their regulars. The food was delicious and plentiful. There were so many options to choose from that I was afraid I'd regret my selection. Having sampled around my table, I can say with confidence that probably everything here tastes great. The hash browns were crisp, and the omelets were cooked perfectly. Definitely worth the prices!

There are maybe ten tables inside, and all have a great view of airplanes right outside the window. There is outdoor seating, as well, but since we were there in the winter time, they were not in use. Service was very good. The staff was quick and attentive. We were there for brunch. My wife picked the Banana Foster Pancakes, and I ordered Peach Crisp Stuffed French Toast. The plates arrived, and both looked delicious. They both came with eggs and choice of meat (bacon, ham, or sausage). The banana foster pancakes were very good. Then, we tasted the peach french toast. OMG! They were amazing! I know what I'm ordering next time we go here. They were so good that we asked the staff to make sure they weren't just a seasonal special.
