I've eaten at The Pink House several times. One of the best BLT's I've had in a long time. The Prime Rib sandwich is always a good choice, as is the Curried Chicken Salad. They are a wee bit more expensive than some other restaurants in town, but the consistently good food and excellent service are worth it. read more

We stopped by for breakfast before wine tasting in the area. This is such a cute and quirky location. We opted to sit inside, which at first was a bit awkward as the small room was completely silent. It was hard to have a conversation without feeling like you were disturbing the other diners. After the room filled up and more people started talking, the silence was lifted. We both had the breakfast meat and veggie scramble. The food arrived quickly and was freshly prepared. The breakfast potatoes were so good. They were crispy and well seasoned. The scramble was loaded with fresh zucchini and other veggies plus it had a good portion of sausage scrambled in. I enjoyed the fresh pico de gallo that our server offered. The frittata was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful, the potatoes were crisp with a smokey? seasoning, and the biscuit.. oh, the biscuit! Huge, moist, crumbly, and frankly I'm obsessed. Coffee is decent and constant. Today I wasn't as hungry (I couldn't finish it yesterday) so I got some eggs, bacon, potatoes, and a biscuit again (duh). First of all, all of the portions are ginormous- I couldn't finish this one again. She told me the biscuits were in the oven and it'd be ten minutes and I said, ten minutes for a fresh out of the oven biscuit? There's no question I'm waiting. The eggs were well made, I added the fresh pico on top. The bacon was that perfect crisp to soft ratio I love. And well, you heard my obsession with the biscuit. I could go on, but I'll spare y'all. We drove over 50 miles for a birthday celebration. Had a reservation. They lost the reservation-I know it happens, but the hostess was very rude and didn't care. She tried to blame it on us, then said she wouldn't serve us! Can't tell you about the food-we didn't get to eat, but the "pink house" was very run down and dilapidated. Roof full of debris and moss, the pink paint was almost faded to white. The grounds needed attention. The lot next door, next to the patio, looked like something in a third world country. The building was half finished and left (years, maybe decades ago), weeds everywhere, chain link fence dangerous and falling down. All on an ugly back alley with a road full of holes and bushes needing trimming. This is the patio entrance-the only way to get in with a wheelchair! We are not going back-definitely not worth the drive. And the people were not nice. read more

This cafe is a MUST EAT AT if you're ever in Independence, OR. A pink house with indoor and outdoor seating for guests, serves breakfast lunch and dinner. It took me so long to order because everything sounded amazing. As a vegetarian i find it hard to find places that serve vegetarian/vegan options without having to make substitutions, but this place has something for everyone! The deluxe veggie scramble was delicious & the iced mocha i got with it was the best mocha i've had in a while. Didn't get a photo of dinner as it smelled so good, no time for photos. I had veggie lasagna and my partner had spinach raviolis. Both were so good. Came with soup or salad. Adorable restaurant in an adorable town! This house has been standing since the late 1800s though not in the same place!!! Pretty solid bones to be able to travel off of a foundation that is not that far from where it is now. This house got pretty lucky with this last owner because he does great work renovating houses such as this one. He puts lots of love into historical places. We walked in and had a choice of tables between upstairs and downstairs. We ventured upstairs just to have a look and decided on downstairs as we had a window there right by the front porch. The menu is chockfull of sandwiches, and soups and just comfort food choices. We split the reuben and it's a good thing because it was quite large. We were offered dessert and it all looked divine but we were so full by then. The atmosphere is charming and idyllic as you would expect by a house like this one. Only giving it 2 stars because I used to love this place. Came from out of town just for the pink house cafe. This experience was terrible and sad compared to what I'm used to. Bad service and bugs and flies everywhere. I killed at least 2 bugs at our table. I ordered the chicken sandwich which I have ordered in the past and loved. There was hardly any chicken on it and the cranberries were not fresh whatsoever and covered in curry. I took one bite and that's it, our waitress never came back to check on us after delivering food. So I sat there with my sandwich waiting for her to come back, she never did and by the time she did - everyone had finished eating and I didn't want to make others wait. I told her that I didn't like the sandwich and she still charged us for it! I've worked at 5 star restaurants and cannot imagine charging someone for food they didn't like or eat. All in all, this place is great. Not being from this part of Oregon it seems most of the valley food factories are simply, just food. Pink House was more than that. I do not know much about the owners but I can speak for the quality and selection of the food prepared for our table. To be perfectly honest when we checked in for our reservation I/we were a bit taken back by it appearing things were rather unorganized ... which they were but that is kind of the vibe here. Joined friends here for our monthly lunch gathering. As it was a beautiful late morning we opted to sit in the outside dining area. The seating was quite comfortable and all tables were umbrellaed (new word) so it was not unbearably hot. Depending on where you sat at the table, though, the view was not that desirable. (There is a large, abandoned, partially constructed building on one side and a gravel driveway and neighbor's side yard as possible vies). It was a Saturday and we were at that awkward time between breakfast and lunch so they gave us both menus...that is they don't really have a lunch menu rather breakfast and dinner, but the dinner menu had a number of sandwiches, a couple of burgers, a good selection of salads and a few pasta based entrees. Three of us opted for lunch and one for breakfast. Everything looked amazing. Two people had the spinach and artichoke parmesan pasta, the breakfast was a crab meat scramble and I had the chicken paprikash. I will say that my entree was very good, but it wasn't really paprikas (at least not like any I have ever had.) First it was served over a bed of cheese tortellini,and it had none of the customary Hungarian spices. It did, however, remind me a lot of a dish my mom when I was growing up so they get bonus points for raising the nostalgia level. The blue cheese on the salad was also very good. While I didn't try any of the other dishes, they were all received with positive reviews by those who were enjoying them, and the crab scramble looked to be a packed with real dungeness crab meat. The restaurant is located off the main street in Independence, OR. and is in an adorable pink house. The house itself is wonderfully old, the decor inside though is awful. The hostess was not friendly, just pointed us in the direction of our table, the waiters were friendly enough, didn't really check back once the food was served, and then there was a random woman floating around, maybe the manager? She was dressed in shorts and tennis shoes with a visor on, she was too casually dressed, it was strange. The food on the other hand was really good. We had the Garden burger, Pink house burger and the Greek chicken salad, all of which was very good. Meat flavorful, garden burger had sautéed veggies on it! Super good! The JoJo potatoes were YUM! THE BLACKBERRY COBBLER WAS DISGUSTING though!! And we will eat any dessert and we each took a bite and left it! Horrible. Tasted like burnt prunes!! And the ice cream was old. Worst dessert ever!
