Stopped into Gilgamesh Brewing while traveling for work and completely forgot it was St. Patrick's Day. Walked in expecting a normal dinner, immediately realized we had made a tactical error in the best way possible. The place was packed, loud, and had that kind of energy you can't really fake. Solid 10/10 on vibes if you're in the mood for it (and even if you're not, you adjust quickly). Despite being clearly short staffed, the service was impressively good. Not "everything is perfectly on time" good, but "everyone is working hard, communicating, and actually cares" good. They were very upfront and apologetic about the delays, which honestly went a long way. Food came out a bit slower than usual (again, not surprising given the circumstances), but overall I'd put it at a strong 8/10. Nothing overhyped, just well-executed and worth ordering again. I had the classic lager and it was meh. This is very subjective I realize but I'd rate it a 4 or 5/10. All things considered, it could have easily been a frustrating experience walking in on one of the busiest nights of the year, but it wasn't. Credit to the staff for keeping things running and keeping the tone positive. I'd come back, ideally on a slightly less festive evening, but also kind of glad I saw it at full capacity. read more

Stopped here to grab a bite to eat. We weren't greeted by the first employee who saw us walk in. As a good friend of a local grill and bar here in California that was already a red flag. We were finally greeted and seated by our waiter. He was the star of the place. Super attentive, polite, professional, and patient. The ambiance here is cool. There's indoor seating and outdoor seating. The decor was nice and the place felt clean. No complaints there. The issue was the food. We ordered the hot honey wings, the grilled chicken Cobb, the gilga-burger, the guacamole bacon burger, and the campus burger. None hit the mark. When you walk into a brewery that looks this great, you kind of expect more from the food. The wings didn't have flavor. The burgers had the taste of old grease. It left us all disappointed. Overall, the ambiance was great and our waiter was awesome, but the food left a lot to be desired. read more

Food was good, service was ok (had walk inside to get the check), and then the "card charge". Yes, they charged us for using a debit card. Not a lot mind you, but neither my wife or I saw any kind of signage or were told by the waitress that there would be a charge. It's unfortunate to see a once thriving pub slowly dying, but charging folks for using a card at an eatery?? Not sure that's the move that will keep the doors open, or even help pay to fix the one door so it shuts itself. read more

We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer, after a few bites in, we noticed something odd.. a fly was cooked into the fried pickle.. we had already ordered our pizzas. On my way home from work last night I had my wife call in an order for dinner, so I could pick it up when I got to town. She called the restaurant and was immediately put on hold... where she stayed for over 15 minutes before the call dropped. I attempted to call myself while she was still holding and it kept going straight to voicemail (which was full). I got to town and went into the restaurant asking if something happened to their phones. The hostess grabbed the phone and realized it was still off the hook. That was more than 30 minutes since we originally tried calling in. I ordered my food and waited another 20 minutes for it to be ready. I dont know anything about their call volume or call in orders, but that was about 35-40 minutes worth of business lost because of 1 employee's negligence and it wasted my time as well having to wait for the food to be prepared. Not my first time eating here, but it will definitely be my last. read more

Pizza was ok, but too much crust for our liking. We sat in the back (kind of outside) and they had live music. We were seated by the stage, and had to move because it was too loud to talk. Great atmosphere with live music the day we ate lunch. The patio is pet friendly and fun for Daisy as she walked though inside to get to back patio. Helpful staff and answer all questions. The BBQ sandwich had a lot of flavor and the summer hazy beers are ideal for the season. read more

I usually don't leave poor reviews, but our experience was too bad to play the polite card. It was supposed to be a fun birthday night for my wife- with her wanting Yeasty Beasty across town, but they were closed because of a staff party. We'd been wanting to try Gilgamesh since it opened, so it was a reasonable thought. But from the start it was a fiasco. This was a Tuesday night and it was uncrowded so we're we expecting a nice experience and fast(ish) service. We knew the prices to be high, having been at all the other Gilgamesh locations prior, but it was a special birthday night and my pesto loving daughter was excited the "McKenzie" pesto option matched her name. The hostess was absolutely apathetic toward our very existence, and we had to seat ourselves ... Expected from a college age adult I suppose?.... The waiter wasn't bad per say, but flighty for there only being two other tables besides us. We did the hummus, bread sticks, juices for the kids, the large McKenzie and a small cider. Food was about right for the amount of people there. The veggies were nothing spectacular, and the pita bread was dry almost to the point of being unappetizing. The breadstick marinara was just "off" and we all avoided it after the first taste. But it's a new place for us and maybe that's how the sauce is, right?.... While we waited for the pizza we had the kids use the restrooms. The men's was quirky and weird, but not fun. Sort of dirty and cheap for such a new location. My eight year old didn't want me to leave him alone. Lots of spiderwebs, standing water, strange bar bathroom vibes.... Some people are into that stuff. My eleven year old daughter refused to use the restroom after going there for three seconds and committed herself to just holding it until we got home. The pizza arrived relatively fast, despite LOTS of staff literally just standing around talking with each other. There was a single girl running the pizza station and maybe the kitchen. I felt a little sorry for her, and didn't blame her for what came next.... Not to be overly dramatic, but the pizza was inedible. Atl $32 dollar pizza we couldn't even chip away at. My wife thought it was fine, but neither my daughter nor myself got more than two bites into it. It was the worst pizza I've ever had. 1990's $1 frozen pizza, Pizza from Eastern Montana, scuzzy seafood theme Pizza from Coos Bay all became gourmet in comparison. I don't know what was wrong, because it looks ok-ish. The mozzarella looks like the fake stuff from the grade school cafeteria, but that wasn't it. It was the taste and smell. The only way I can describe it is to mix rancid olive oil with bilge water and very rotten fish. I think either the pizza stone serving tray was infused with something very very wrong, the kiln over shelf had something obscene burned into it or a strong food cross-contamination occurred. I also spat out my second bite. The first bite just had me confused. I can't think of a more unpleasant food flavor and I on occasion retry Japanese natto just for the experience. We would have liked to have let the staff know what happened. It's not like we wanted to be the bad guys. They should have been made aware something was very very off, but the entire front room was completely ignored by the entire staff. The couple on a date next to us were loudly grumbling about the service. The elderly couple nursing the beers adjacent talked about leaving without getting their food or paying their check. It was bad. But the waiter still had time to joke with colleagues and change his sweater. It had picked up a little since we arrived, but the pizzeria wasn't exactly packed. Maybe it was just an off-night? Maybe the managers will see this post and review staffing frequency? But the atmosphere seemed pretty engrained. Imagine the way the staff at Voodoo Donuts actively behave. Staff checked on us once the entire time, excluding dropping off items and us requesting the check. The one time they did stop by, it was in passing while serving our neighboring table. Getting that check and a refill on kid juices was just an obscene wait time. Our neighboring table never did get their food the time we were there, and they arrived not long after us. We didn't take home the pizza or leave a question or complaint regarding the food- again, who would have listened? My daughter was concerned the pizza was making her feel sick, so in hindsight we maybe should have looked into it more. But the entire experience left us drained and deflated. We ended up eating leftovers at home instead, and the night ended with homemade brownies rather than Gilgamesh desserts. But the price for one slice and not even four bites combined with the lackadaisical service means we'll gladly spend the money in Monmouth at Yeasty Beasties for a trusted and wholesome experience, and we'll be making these recommendations to others as well. Would have been literally the best burger I ever had if it wouldn't have been well done. Gourmet style burgers and excellent hand cut fries. We had a horrible experience. After waiting an hour and a half for our food, 3 of the entrees came out. My burger came out completely wrong so they took it back to fix it. They said my husband's chicken strips would be out soon. After another half hour, once everyone else finished their meals, we finally told them to cancel our order. I had the blackberry lemonade which was the perfect mix of sweetness and tartness. For food I had the McKenzie pizza on gluten free crust minus mushrooms. I loved the artichokes and olives on this dish. The pesto could have used a little more kick. My friend got the chicken Cobb salad which was huge. The chicken was grilled perfect but the bacon was a bit dry. All in all a great place to catch up and hang with friends over good food, great ambiance, and fantastic service. read more

My boyfriend and I have been here 4 times, and the first and last time we went the service was not good. The first time, we got sat and then were ignored by multiple servers who looked at us but kept walking away, that was for maybe half an hour. Then one of them walking up to us as we were leaving. This time, we got seated and the same thing happened but with different servers, we were ignored for 20 minutes and tables that got sat after us got their orders taken before us so we walked out. It was a hot day so we decided to dine in. They have a great back patio to sit out and there were a lot of people out there. This place is roomy with high ceilings and two stories. It's really a neat building. We were seated far apart from the rest of the patrons which I still like given the whole pandemic, etc. Everything is open in Oregon and masks are no longer required, exceptions medical facilities, etc. But given the last year I still like my space. They have quite a few beer selections on tap and a few wine selections from local wineries. We made our selections and order a pizza. It came out great and was huge we had enough left for a second meal the next day. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was very helpful and quick. During the end of our meal they seated people right next to us in this kind of shared booth. That was not so bad but the guy sat down next to me for several so close that I could not have gotten out had I wanted to and I was against the wall on the otherside. He finally moved over a bit but I was done. My mask came out and we left shortly after that. This is obviously not the restaurant's fault, however, people should be more circumspect given the times we are in. All in all a good time. We had a group of three and no one finished their food. Two out of three meals sat for at least 30 minutes or more before coming out. The fries were old and stale and my bun was dried out...almost as dry as the burger. I sent mine back and didn't want anything else. The those plate had decent fries but the burger was dry and lacked any flavor. The waitress was lazy and made up excuses for the food. When she asked us if we would like refills on our drinks she went to the corner and stretched, filled the ice bin, walked around and never brought our refills. I'm sure this place is great but tonight was not a good showing of what they could do. read more

We went for an early dinner on Valentine's Day and we're glad we did. Molly and the Berries were playing jazz and they were wonderful. Just what we didn't know we needed. We had the pretzel and cheese sauce as an appetizer, and it was yummy. He had the Cuban sandwich and I had the Chicken Cobb salad. Both were very tasty. And so was the chocolate cheese cake for dessert. Waitstaff was nice and friendly. I have wanted to love this place so bad, but I am finished. The food has been ok but not great. Not good enough to make up for the serves or should I say lack of serves. We wait to be seated almost every time we go in, even when there are lots of open tables. On our last and probably final time eating here we waited around ten minutes to be seated. No bad. But after being seated we wait 20min to talk to a server, we had to ask if we had a server. Then we ordered drinks and food at the same time because we didn't know when we would have another chance! In the end, the burger was ok and the pizza was fair. A server stated, "Yeah, we are over booked tonight," but the restaurant didn't look that busy. Overall poor experience. read more

Waited to be seated. A few employees walked past us without acknowledging us. Got our appetizer fast, which was good. Then waited forever for food. Waitress said "all the cooks took their break at the same time". She brought by salad, but said they were still cooking the chicken that was to go on my salad. While we waited for boxes and our bill, other servers walked right past us without asking if we needed anything as we were looking around for our server.
