Terrible experience. Our first visit from Salem was great, but this visit was ridiculous. Our server (Mary) took forever -- we asked for more time when we arrived, and nearly 20 minutes later she finally returned (by then my husband had finished his beer). After ordering, an hour passed before she spoke to another table about our burger; then 30 minutes later she told us they were out of it. My brother-in-law asked for a regular burger instead, yet two other tables who arrived after us got their food while we waited. It took almost two hours for our meals to arrive, and they were delivered by a different server. Mary never checked on us again and didn't bring our bill -- my husband had to ask for it at the bar. I walked in to pick up a DoorDash order and the girl looked at me and said oh my God I can't do this right now and walked off. I understand doordash may be annoying and it may give you extra work if you can't handle it don't offer the service period I work in customer service and if I ever said that to a customer I would be instantly fired. read more

I'm gonna let you all in on a little secret: When I go to a bar, I don't like to wait. And I don't like to be ignored. And at North Third, I got both. First, when I walked in, it took forever to even get anyone to jump behind the empty bar. Then when he showed up, the bartender just didn't seem to grasp my order. Then it took an extra 15 minutes of waiting while I plopped down and read my very enlightening book, "Seven Things You Can't Say About China" by Senator Tom Cotton. No, it's not about the Chinese people, who are Stellar. It's about the CCP. Hopefully, Yelp isn't owned by them, so this review stands. Anyway, I digress. After waiting for an eternity, on a Tuesday night at 6 pm with limited patrons I might add, I just gave up and felt the overwhelming need to depart said establishment. I literally could have walked across the street to another place, drank a beverage slowly and returned to ask where my flight was. But being the writer that I am and not wanting to support this place at all, I decided to leave. But I just couldn't go without saying my farewell (again, to an empty bar). So, I grabbed a to-go box, scribbled, "Scrap the Cider flight, too long" on the bottom, and walked out into glorious, liberating sunshine, which, by the way, ain't all that common in March in Oregon. And then I went somewhere else and gave them my money for a better beverage than this place could have given me, had they ever completed my order. First, this is a nice place with good food, reasonable pricing. Now, the things management should fix: 1. Wait time over an hour for food. Delivered four of five meals after an hour and delivered the fifth meal 15 minutes after everyone else received their meals. 2. Bartender from the bar area was the waitress for our table in the restaurant on a Saturday night. Ya, didn't see her much. I'm sure she was slammed. 2. Entertainer in the bar was excessively loud, making it very difficult to hear conversation in the restaurant seating area. He was talented. Just way too loud. Overall, the team there seemed very slow, not checking in with customers giving updates, refilling drinks timely, etc. Thought it may be an off night. My mother in law lives close to Stayton we took her to lunch . The decor was so unique and fun lots of tv's and a digital jukebox I know it has been named couple different names my mother in le Said she had been in there when it was named , Star Light Room it had been awhile ;) now it's modern and new, Our waitress Bonnie was amazing and a a wonderful example of how customer service should be .The food my mother and I got the North Third Dip Sandwich House-roasted ribeye sliced thin with grilled onions, and provolone, au jus on a toasted hoagie and did not disappoint meat was tender cheese melted perfectly and the au jus sauce was spot on the hand cut fries paired great and I'm a dip girl and they all were tasty . My husband got the candy blue burger he said was really good . My daughter got the lunch special happy burger for $10 she said it was good and what a deal for the price . Great variety of beers , we will definitely come back . Go support this really cool small town brewery/sports bar. read more

We love this place. The atmosphere is great. The servers are awesome. The food is consistently good. The only drawback is it can be a little slow but that is because the food comes out hot and fresh, you may not want to go if you're in a hurry. The other issue is it can be cold so bundle up. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but the wait times were beyond frustrating. We waited an incredibly long time for our food--far longer than what should be reasonable. What made it worse was the lack of communication from the staff. No updates, no apologies, no compensation--just a long, drawn-out wait while other tables that arrived after us somehow got their orders first. When the food finally arrived, it wasn't even worth the wait. It was cold, which made the whole experience even more disappointing. I never complain about food. Also, had to flag down the waiter for drinks and they went missing for a hour. I understand that restaurants get busy, but good service includes keeping customers informed. The place was not even busy. I wonder if the owner knows what is going on here. Unless they improve their efficiency and customer service, I can't see myself coming back or recommending it to anyone. read more

Uggg! Been here several times over the last 2 years. Typically, good service and food.....however visits from October and now last night requires a review.....especially last night. Our party of 4 walked in at 630pm to a mostly full restaurants......host said 45 minute wait for food getting out of the kitchen. We loved our first experience here! Service was great, our server was attentive and just overall nice! The restaurant was comfortable to catch up with our family. Food was amazing, we had the prime rib special and as a personal chef I couldn't have asked for a better home cooked meal! Everything had such great flavor! Ended the meal with a slice of the red velvet cake which was amazing (they said they get it from the Lovin' Oven just down the road). Bar none you will not find better fish and chips unless your on a boat out of Depot Bay. The fish, very fresh tasting, the batter, crispy and does not overpower the fish. Fries are a most welcome addition as they compliment the fish. Cole slaw is smooth and creamy. All in all , you will not a better meal for fish and chips the area. Love the oysters snd shrimp as well but have a hard time getting past the fish. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to be touristing in Stayton and find this clean brewpub type restaurant with a full beer list (32 on tap) and excellent choice in food. This is a "MUST" when dining in Stayton. We had the special which was macaroni and cheese with a piece of meatloaf on the top with a couple pieces of grilled bread! We went for dinner here last Thursday and I was just so un impressed. I got a Reuben which was covered in fat. I have never ever had a Rueben so fatty that cut of meat should always be lean. I would have never made a review as I have never before but I was just flabbergasted. I took one bite and sent it back which is also something I do not do. I was extremely kind and just handed them my food and told them I could not eat it. My appetite was gone after that so I didn't want anything else so I figured as normal restaurant etiquette they would just comp my meal. As to my surprise the meal was still on my check. I had asked our server if she just forgot to take it off and she said they don't normally take things off of checks????? What?!!!! I have been a server for 8 years and if someone does not like the meal we provided them we immediately comp their meal. At the end of the day every restaurant should be wanting customers to come back and as I said I totally would have if they would have just comped my $18 meal that I sent back and literally left still hungry. Now I will not be back. Our server was very fun and nice at first but very forgetful and did not check on us once after someone dropped our food off. read more

This place is amazing! We went in on Sunday late afternoon about 5 pm. They were very busy we met up with family members all of a sudden we had 8 adults and one 6 year old. Well we waited for over an hour but it was an easy wait great atmosphere and polite service. All of sudden I saw a waitress that came in and told us she was called to work because they were very busy she was very nice. She lined up four tables side ways to give us one large table the food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend waitress name is Jessie. Will definitely be going back. Wow, I've eaten here before and had their beef slider before. Tonight I ordered what was supposed to be a ground steak slider and fries. The slider was actually chunks of meat on a soggy bun. There were more cooked onions than meat. Fries were undercooked. Very disappointing. I mentioned it to the waitress and all she said was she doesn't cook. I'm writing this review after coming the past 3 times and being disappointed every time. I'll start with the positive. The server was super sweet and she made great drinks! Now the ugly. The appetizer alone took over an hour and it was only scotch eggs. Then our food came. They gave me a salad instead of fries. They gave my friend fries instead of a salad. That's not even as bad as my poor husband who got a completely different meal then what he ordered. When he said that wasn't right, they said they were out of sausage and nobody let the waitress know. ‍ Luckily they comped that meal but it wasn't good, the chicken was over cooked and the flavor was terrible! Needless to say, after 3 times of bad food we won't be back! It's too bad because it's such a cool spot in town and we love the atmosphere but just can't tolerate it any more! read more

I think the food is pretty good. I believe the reason the food is a little on the slow side is due to it all being made from scratch (as stated on their menu) and maybe because its a pretty new place. They have to find their groove just like anywhere else does. I do think the prices are a little high, but still good food, beer, and friendly service. I appreciate the fact that someone took the time to bring something of quality to the little town of Stayton that we have needed for a while, has a good beer selection, and better than average food selection. Third time trying this restaurant, hoping that things would improve in a post-covid world but sadly they haven't even a little bit. Service was lackluster; we seated ourselves and were not provided menus until we were seated for several minutes. The server never offered water and didn't take our drink order until she took our food order for several more minutes. The restaurant was not busy, there was one other family sat and one table that was just drinking. We ordered for three people and waited a whole hour for food. The server never offered to bring our appetizers or onion rings out first. The food that was delivered was a mix of mediocre. One plate with a slider and Mac and cheese had sat under the light for so long that the Mac and cheese dried on the top and the slider bun was tough and dry. Upon offering our feedback on the wait time and the quality of the food to the server she remarked that her service was good and the food was not her fault. In fact she shared with us that the cook on shift that evening (Nathan) was horrible to work with and had frequent outbursts, was constantly overwhelmed and that we would be better off coming when a different cook was on shift. She did not offer to comp any of our food. We all left feeling really bad about wanting to support a local business but committing to never visiting this restaurant again because it just sucked. Our family is traveling from Portland to Bend. We stopped here for lunch. Our burgers were great. I loved the garlic aioli sauce. The fries were also amazing. Fans of five guys will be pleased. We also had the macaroni and cheese. The portion was generous and the cheese was perfectly mild. The space is very modern and clean. We enjoyed looking at the mural in the bar room. In addition, the service was great. Both the waitress and the bartender were friendly and efficient. Our waitress kept our drinks filled and the bartender was very helpful in drink selection. If you're looking for a great lunch stop then look no further. This place deserves a much higher rating than what it currently has here on Yelp. Editing to add: I'm noticing that most of the bad reviews are about rude/inefficient service and long waits for the food. We had the opposite experience. Don't let those old reviews keep you away. It is wonderful to have a restaurant/bar so close to home. We enjoy our Saturday night drink and the occasional dinner from here.
