Tried this establishment for my birthday dinner with my family. The service was really good. We were greeted and seated quickly. We were given hummus and chips. The hummus was really good. I would have liked to try it with a warm pita perhaps, not sure about the pairing with chips. We ordered garlic bread for an appetizer. Great portion for 4 people to share. It came with a killer marinara. Both the bread and marinara were obviously made in house. That marinara is without a doubt the best marinara I've ever had. I ordered the chicken Marsala with double veg, no potato and the fancy salad. The fancy salad was brilliant, very good. The Chicken Marsala was cooked perfectly, but lacking something. I've had better, but it was still good. The Brussels sprouts were typical Brussels sprouts, nothing fancy, they were cooked and seasoned well, I enjoyed them. I tried a bite of the pizza my kids got and it was exceptionally good. And a bite of my husbands skirt steak was very well seasoned and cooked well. Good food and good prices. read more

Came here for dinner with the wife and a friend that was in town. The place is kinda gastro pubish but very nice. The staff was super sweet. The food was really yummy. We wanted try some of the deserts but do to short staff I am sure our server was not able to return to us before it was time for us to go as we had other plans. Two lasagna orders were undercooked; the asparagus on multiple plates was over charred but under cooked; the chicken in the chicken satay was dry. Went on a Tuesday for HH. Ordered the taco of the week, said it was to have chimichurri, it did not. I also ordered their version of a Paloma... not great. Not balanced at all, overly tart with no grapefruit flavor. Disappointed. Service was okay. Silverware wasn't polished, 2/3 of us had to ask for new silverware. Side plates were dirty. Amadeus is at least in the top 3 best places to dine in the Salem area. You might not guess it when walking in or looking at their menu but when you TASTE what's on the menu you'll be sold. They do a great job with their flavors, seasoning, and execution of dishes. For example the chicken schnitzel with a lemon caper sauce. Sounds relatively simple but depending on crust, texture, and sauce skills could be a basic dish or could be amazing. Theirs..... amazing. read more

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and it was a good time. We had the Mediterranean plate as an appetizer, I had beef medallions and my wife had pasta. For dessert we had a lemon cheesecake, and a chocolate dish. All were very good and they were aiming for trendy upscale cuisine in downtown Salem. Our waitress was outstanding any the atmosphere generally hit the mark. We have already decided to come back and try the pork chops. Today I attended a family dinner at this restaurant. I came in after my party(22 people) and at no point was asked if I'd like anything to drink. 26 minutes after I sat down I asked my waiter for a drink. A couple minute's later we got our appetizers. 15 minutes later a delicious looking drink was set in front of me. I noticed what looked like an eyelash in the drink; I went to pull it out and it just kept going... a 10inch black hair came out of my drink! I asked my server Dyllan if I could have another drink due to the hair but not before I pressed some bright green artichoke dip to the underneath the of stem my glass. 10 minutes later a "new drink" that Dyllan said he made himself was placed in front of me. Oddly enough my "new" glass had some bright green artichoke dip in the same spot I had placed it on my old glass. So if the glass is the same we can assume the drink is the same. Do I even ask for a new drink at this point or do I just tell him I no longer want the drink? How to I handle this situation where my waiter isn't made to be embarrassed but also get a drink that is sanitized? He comes back with our entrees and here is our conversation " may I please have a new drink because this is the same glass. I marked the glass before it left the table" " oh well I had given it to the bartender to make a new one but I'll get you another glass" Dyllan leaves while the old drink is left on the table At this point I'm very confused because Dyllan just told me he made me a new drink but when confronted someone else made the drink? The lack of honesty and integrity is incredible especially when you are forced to pay gratuity... A third drink is placed on the table (really a second drink) and it is delicious but it didn't taste like it had any alcohol in it unfortunately. After we pay the manger Bobby was approached about this situation and all she said was " I'll talk to him about that" I have never taken the time to write a yelp review because usually if I have an issue the staff is eager to correct it and make me a satisfied. The food is OMG good. Nice ambience. Next comes a good selection of drinks. But the food is what takes it over the top. We had painted hills brisket with polenta - even Texans can't match it. What a great find on our trip to Salem! The combination of flavors in the food and the ambience of the restaurant was exactly what we were looking for after a day of Pinot drinking in the valley. The good: The food was amazing!! The Bruschetta Pizza had a great blend of flavors from the garlicky Asiago cheese to the diced pancetta to the balsamic drizzled on top. We also really liked the Tagliatelle Ragu -- nothing too crazy in terms of the flavor profile but really solid pasta and sauce. There's happy hour available on some appetizers and a range of cocktails after 8pm even on Saturday! We loved the vibe of the restaurant. It's a very open layout (which is something I notice more after Covid) and there are huge and eclectic paintings around the room. The high ceilings also help with keeping the noise level from other tables at a minimum. The not so good: We called in for a reservation day of and were able to get one for 8pm. Unfortunately when we got to the restaurant, our table wasn't ready so we ended up waiting almost an hour to get seated. We then put in our cocktail orders and waited another 20 min before we got them. And then our food was even more delayed. I think they're still trying to iron out some service kinks as a result of the Covid shutdown since they seemed understaffed, so hopefully things will improve soon. read more

Brought our son and his GF to Amadeus for dinner as we've generally had a pretty good experience there in the past. Overall the food was pretty good, but something to keep in mind when choosing this restaurant is that the entire menu is very dairy heavy, which was a problem for my son who can't have dairy. He ordered the Loco Moco which was listed as "Eight ounce American Kobe beef patty, served over steamed rice with an over easy egg and slivered green onions". When his meal came, the rice was covered in a heavy mushroom cream sauce. Some other items didn't have dairy in the main dish, but came with dairy filled sides, like mashed potatoes or parmesan risotto. We all had a good dinner (I switched with him and gave him my pork chop after scraping the dairy filled sauce off of it), but it's maybe not a good choice for dairy free diners. Also, the menu on their website doesn't match the one you go to from the Yelp link. read more

We have been going to Amadeus for years and years. The Happy Hour is the best in town, but the regular menu is some of the best food we've ever had. Favorites include The Fancy salad with grilled shrimp, the Beef Stroganoff, Le Mac, The Classic...the list goes on. read more

I love love love this restaurant! I'll admit I had one not so great customer service instance there a few years ago but none since then. Not only has he service been great but the food is superb! And if you like hummus, look non further. Their hummus is da'bomb!!! I buy it in tubs because it's very reasonably priced and it keeps for a few months isn't the fridge (maybe longer). This was our 2nd visit to Amadeus, and once again, it did not disappoint. Our server was friendly and efficient. She had great suggestions on the food and made sure we were always taken care of but not to hover. Drinks were great. They have a spicy peach mule that is so good. Have eaten here many times with my wife and almost every time was an experience to cherish and remember. Best food you can get in Salem hands down. Service can vary from server to server at times but honestly I'm here for the food, not to talk the ear off an overworked waiter. The one middling experience we had was when they were apparently catering a party at the same time as our visit? Food was just okay then but the good vastly outweighs the bad in my opinion. My tip to get consistently top notch food is to avoid booking Fridays or Saturdays, or if you can't try to come in earlier so as to avoid their busiest hours :) My wife's favorite is the artichoke and truffle dip and mine was the cod with jalapeno corn chowder, the menu cycles out a lot, but I hope to see my beloved cod again one day read more

I've been to Amadeus several times over the past couple of years; It has never ceased to satisfy me and the friends/family who come with me. The food here is amazing (in my opinion) and they can cater to me (who is vegan) and gluten-free customers. (Some) Vegan options include their free chips/hummus, the Brussel sprouts appetizer (with blue cheese sauce on the side) , the veggie burger, the fries, and some of the cakes that are made in the bakery behind the restaurant. The bakery is called Sweet Spot, and they have their own menu. They can also tell you which desserts are vegan/gluten free, and there is always at least one option. This place is on the higher end side, meaning it is more pricey. When this place is busy, it is not the quietest, but it is comfortable. The servers! Every time I've gone here, the servers have always been so nice. When I came here more often, I met one in particular last year who remembered me when I came! A Gouda one. Diana's Salmon. Old fashion. Dirty martini. Quick service upon entry. For drinks, I got the old fashion which was solid but did not come with a cubed ice, which is ok I guess. The lady got a extra dirty martini and got a dirty martini. For food, I got the a Gouda one burger and the lady got Diana's salmon. For some reason I drew a blank when our server asked how I wanted the burger cooked. I meant to say medium rare, but medium came out. When I realized what I said, it was too late lol so I rolled with it. It arrived pink and juicy either way although I think it would've been much better medium rare. The lady's salmon was good. She had a minor complaint about it but I forgot... Maybe it was a tad bit over cooked? Nonetheless, she still enjoyed it. Oh, her second round of a extra dirty martini arrived as an extra dirty martini. I'm still not a fan of the cocktail, but she enjoyed it so that's all that matters. Service was standard. Perfect food with much of it grown locally. The bar has a great and unique selection of drinks. It is perfect from hors d'oeuvres to dessert and port. Plan for $100 per person for a full dinner with drinks, wine and dessert. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service is attentive. I made a reservation for a table. I chose the wrong date for the reservation which is my fault. However, I came up to the host and asked about my reservation. They then told me I made the reservation for another date in a condescending way. They then left me to go to their tablet and do hosting duties. They never attempted to help me, or apologize for the inconvenience (of which I created, I know), but their manner towards the situation was displeasing. Maybe they could've attempted to reach a solution, but no effort was made on their part. I have never eaten here. I guess I never will. read more

Great place for a date night! I had a lavender lime drop--I was a little skeptical because I feel like usually lavender is paired with lemon, but it was delicious! I don't like drinks that are too sweet and the tartness is the line balanced out the sweetness well. We had a baked raspberry Brie appetizer, can't go wrong with Brie! I had the brisket on polenta for my main course and my husband had the butternut squash ravioli, both dishes were excellent! We got tiramisu to go for dessert and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the generous espresso powder on top which really gave it a nice rich espresso flavor. Our waitress was really sweet too! So glad we finally got to try this place out! read more

I'm trying not to sound rude while being honest. This place is lackluster. It's is a great cheap date spot if you and your date have never traveled farther than Sublimity. The food is ok. The service is friendly. The theme is upscale bistro/trattoria (from what I gather), but it is neither. This is hands down the best restaurant we have here in Salem. I had no idea this was even here, but I am so glad we finally checked it out! The only reason I am giving four stars is because we made a reservation for 7 pm, and when we got there we were told there were four reservations ahead of us and it would be about a half hour wait. I thought that was odd, and I noticed a few of the other parties waiting said they did not have reservations and were told the same amount of wait time. It very much felt like there was no point in making the reservation as all patrons would be seated in the order they arrived. We almost left (but I'm glad we didn't). Eventually we sat at the bar to have a drink while we waited, and the super friendly bar tender talked us into just having dinner there. Turned out to be a great decision! We started with an old fashion and some kind of lavender drink concoction, both of which were absolutely delightful. Wonderfully made drinks! The Austrian bar tender was so friendly and clearly had lots of experience. She knew exactly what she was doing the whole time and was the calmest person working that night. For dinner I had the classic, which was beef tenderloins in a wine sauce, and my partner had the saucy chicken, which was a chicken breast in some kind of gravy with mashed potato's. Both were five star meals, absolutely bursting with flavor and plated so beautifully! We kept switching our plates to have some of the others food. We couldn't pick a favorite because they were both do delicious. The atmosphere was very upscale and classy (we were clearly under dressed in our flannels) and yet, we were treated like family. Even despite the reservation issue, it was a wonderful date night and I highly recommend this restaurant. 10/10. I will be back! read more

My wife and I had reservations and were promptly seated only to sit for 15 minutes with no service at all. Another server asked if anyone was helping us and we let her know she was the first to talk to us so she went and let the server assigned to our table know we were there. She basically refused to serve us without explanation. Stevie took our table because she felt bad for us and she was wonderful. It was our first time there so I don't know why our server completely ignored us and refused to serve us. Our 10th Anniversary was saved by Stevie. My spouse and I, along with another couple have been meeting up in Salem at Amadeus for lots of years now. We have always had consistently great service, exquisite meals (we know our favorites). Some comments I've read reference price, which I can understand... My first meal there was early in my career when my income was a bit more fixed - we came to Amadeus almost by accident. When we left, my spouse said, "I don't mind splurging for a delicious meal and good service, and this was excellent!" High praise from him, and I agree. I am certain that not everyone has the same type of experience when they go to a new place, or they walk into a place that wasn't their first choice with cynicism. Sometimes it's better to stay open-minded, assume positive intent, allow others to enjoy their meal, and you could find the gem that we did! read more
