. They were served with ranch instead of tzatziki, which likely explains the dill above (gyro also had ranch + dill pickle which resembles tzatziki more closely with the dilliness)

Y E L P : Fork Forty Food Hall Restaurant & Food Review…read more Ventured to Fork Forty Food Hall for lunch yesterday for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. As food halls are all the craze, it was pretty cool to learn that Fork Forty is Salem's first food hall. It is a cozy food hall featuring six of Salem's best eateries in the historic Gray-Building - which I also learned is a building that has a long history of eateries that have occupied its spaces over the years. So, it's only natural that this food hall graced this historic building. What a unique legacy to be a part of. All that Google-worthy factoids aside, I must say, I really loved the industrial feel of the space. Loved the use of blacks and white - which allowed the food vendors signage to really stand out and pop against the darker field colors. Also, the food hall itself wasn't too busy - especially for lunchtime. So, that was great because the wait time for the food was minimal. The food hall was lively, clean and had ample seating. There is a water station with cups for patrons that want water only. There's also a bar within the food hall - so, if you wanted some libations with your eats, that was also an option. All in all, it's a great spot with various cuisines. There's enough to tickle your fancy pending what you have a taste for. Some of the cuisines range from Mexican, Asian, and Mediterranean cuisine to name a few. I opted for the Mexican vendor, Suzy's Taqueria, and I am so happy I went with them because they did not disappoint. The food was fresh and the price point was great!! Very affordable lunch prices. (**Visit Suzy's Taqueria page to see my review on their street tacos.**) Since this is a food hall, I didn't really interact with the staff as much. My order was placed at a kiosk - which had no wait time. Once my order was placed, the wait for the tacos to prepared was less than 10 minutes. The server brought them out to my table - which was my only interaction with the staff. So, that's about as much as I can speak on that. However, all interactions, though minimal, were very pleasant. For a first visit, I was pleased. I will definitely visit again before my departure from Salem to try out the bao spot or the pizzeria. Also, the history of it, is pretty cool!

Honestly it's a gem, they are a great family who we seen almost every week to get rice plates. I…read morewill be honest I read some things about the lamb and I sadly do agree that it is not the best. Their beef and chicken rice plates is always our go to never disappoint except for when they are low on rice to which she is happy to give you something extra. Their baklava is yummy and a great sweet treat, we always get helped quickly even when we come in during their prayer time they are still willing to help us. We have seen them host dinner and still kept the business open which just makes me happy cause it feels like family and community. The ambience inside is what you expect for a Mediterranean restaurant, I appreciate them displaying their heritage and culture.

PROS: The woman who runs it is super friendly. Definitely adds diversity to a limited food scene. CONS: Consistency and Quality Assurance Previous order (months ago) the meat was so dry it tasted like jerky, inedible and tossed the whole dish. Finally got the urge back to give it another chance today, ordering the lamb over hummus. The hummus has gone BAD. Tastes overly sour and has a strong fizzy sensation that you get when it has gone bad and fermented. Once again I will be tossing the entire dish. So sad!

Our first time here. And I'll preface my review by saying I'm not vegan, nor am I vegetarian. I'm…read morenot opposed to vegan or vegetarian (or we wouldn't have come here). I just traditionally like meat. That said, my wife and mother and I came to Venti's for dinner while in Salem. They each ordered the more traditional meat hamburgers and fries. I decided since it was a vegan-forward restaurant, I'd try a vegan dish. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you, so it's a little more like a diner than a "fine dining" restaurant. Our service was good, quick and friendly. The atmosphere is a bit cold, but not off-putting. I ordered the Red Curry Pasta with a Side Salad. Other reviewers seemed to be raving about the red curry, so I thought it was worth a try. I can see why they rave about it. It was excellent! And the side salad had a variety of ingredients, so it wasn't "just a side salad". I tried the avocado ranch dressing and it was fine. Not stellar, but good. The pasta had just the right amount of sauce and was very flavorful. Now to the meat. You might expect a vegan-forward restaurant to have meat dishes as kind of an afterthought. But both my wife and mother raved about their burgers. My wife got the Rooster Burger and mom got the traditional House Burger. With meat. And cheese. And fries. They LOVED the burgers. All of us want to go back next time we're in Salem and the biggest problem will be deciding what to order. Well done, Venti's!

Well, the vegan gods rained plant based blessings upon us by guiding (some might say .. delivering lol) us to Venti's Cafe & Beer Vault in the charming downtown area of Salem. Upon entering, I first took notice of the whimsical welcoming ambiance inside, sort of reminded me of Chickpea in Vancouver, BC. Also, I had to fight back a smirk when reading about the upcharge for anyone ordering meat based options, I mean it's about time eateries started being vegan by default and adding an upcharge "meat tax" lol instead of the typical vegan-tax we vegans all too often have to incur. It's no wonder the vegan gods delivered us :) to Venti .. given that everything they had to offer was truly divine, which I offer without hyperbole of any kind, just complete sincerity!! The Grilled Cheese consisted of a parmesan crusted sourdough bread with not one but *two* melted vegan cheeses (cheddar and smoked provolone), the Truffle Fries were bold and unapologetic in their truffle-y goodness, the Tomato Basil Soup was rich and loaded with flavor and last but certainly not least, the Vegan Red Curry Mac was really delicious and brought the punch. For the latter, the individual bites didn't feel hot in and of themselves but rather it was the accumulated effect that really left a lasting impression. I think the dish could maybe benefit from a side of vegan yogurt, to add a freshness and help balance the heat but that's not to imply this dish was lacking in any way, it was sooo good! As if that wasn't enough, they also offer a raw vegan cake dessert. Sadly, we didn't get the chance to try as we didn't take notice until after we had already ordered our food. Between the decadence of the food and joyful ambiance, coupled with a charming location in downtown Salem, this will definitely be a place for use to revisit many time over!
