Better off hiring professional movers. I requested a Dolly + 2 helpers to move a couch and table out of my apartment. They showed up before my time frame which was great (we had chatted the night before), but it quickly went downhill. These guys struggled for over an hour to attempt to get a couch OUT of my apartment, then finally claimed they couldn't do it. Clearly the couch made it into my apartment, so I was pretty disappointed that they gave up. I suggested a few tips / different angles, but they claimed it was impossible without removing the legs, when again this wasn't necessary to get the couch into my apartment. Luckily they never confirmed the request with Dolly, otherwise I would've been charged a $29 fee for their time, even though there was damage to my door frame from them attempting to remove the couch! Customer support was no help either, the lady had the nerve to ask me if I could call the old movers that got the couch into the apartment to give these Dolly helpers some guidance.... I would give Dolly another shot for something else, but definitely not a move that requires some basic geometry to get furniture through a door. read more

Do not trust Dolly with your move!!! As anyone who has moved knows, it is such a stressful day and obviously very time-sensitive, as there are many moving parts (i.e. reserving elevator times at your old apartment and new apartment). Dolly will make your day exponentially worse and more stressful than it already is. Last year, my boyfriend requested 2 helpers for an entire apartment move. Literally an hour before the scheduled time, the Dolly cancelled. He spent hours on the phone with customer service, and had to call 6 separate times until they finally sent someone. But they could only find 1 helper so he had to do the entire move with the helper. They did not refund him. Instead they give him credit to use Dolly! WOW GREAT IDEA! Do an awful job and then ask a disgruntled customer to use you again? Well we are all about giving second chances so why not? One year later and we decide to give Dolly the benefit of the doubt and just say it was an unlucky situation. We are moving from a 2-bedroom apartment and have a lot of stuff - all of which was listed on Dolly. The day before, they switch out our Dolly from a full-sized truck to someone with a pick-up truck. We had expected our move to be done in 1 trip. The pick-up truck would take probably 3-4 trips to get done. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? We scrambled to find a new moving company because we just sensed another disaster and did not want to have to endure such an awful move again. Of course we are charged for the cancellation even though it was 23 hours in advance and was due to them changing what they were giving us. YOU ARE LITERALLY THE WORST DOLLY! I booked a Dolly to move three pieces of furniture for me three weeks in advance of my move out date. About a week later, my Dolly helper canceled so the app reassigned a new helper to my move. I was very enthusiastic about this service because I had heard great things but then my Dolly was cancelled less than 12 hours before my scheduled move. Dolly was unable to find me another helper, which forced my hand into paying 5X the cost of the Dolly to hire movers last minute. I didn't receive any apology or explanation, but was left defenseless after relying on this service. Would not book again. Not reliable. read more

Beware and pay for better service. I just used Dolly to unload truck after long drive. I ordered 2 loaders. During the week approaching I kept getting updates on changes to duo working. Not thinking anything of it, when arriving to my new location the lead loader informed me the other loader was running behind about 30 mins. So 1 of 2 arrived and he said clock is beginning or you can cancel and pay the fee. Finding out each loader was independent contractor on the contract. He didn't know the other guy. I had a lose / lose situation for a paying customer. The other helper never showed. I unloaded my truck and loader that showed was adequate but not a true mover. Dolly customer service is the WORST. Update: Dolly got back to me, apologize for the confusion and took accountability. I am still not sure I will use Dolly again but i might give them a shot for something easy but have no time (keep in mind, these movers likely have no experience or proper tooling to lift heavy items, they seem to struggle a lot compare to when real movers were moving our home last year) Such a bad first experience. We have a table, sideboard and 6 chairs to move, and was given a quote. Movers came (1 of them was 30mins later) and told us the sideboard is a hutch (it is a buffet) and wanted 50% more of the quoted price, so be it, I want to get home. They thought the sideboard was a headboard, not my fault dolly misrepresented a sideboard. I had to haul the chairs myself in my vehicle to avoid 2nd trip cause the truck won't fit all. I unloaded all the chairs myself, no big deal. For this 30mins move I ended up paying almost the same to a bigger mover for 2hrs to move a small apartment with a 16' truck . I will probably not going to use dolly again to avoid unnecessary surprises with quotes, chances of meeting movers with no experience and proper tools, or they get hurt while moving and suing me since they are not insured by Dolly (or might not have any insurance) read more

Dolly canceled my move the morning of with zero notification on the app, email, or call. If I had not opened the app to message the helper a few hours before my intended move, I would have been waiting all day for no one to show up. I emailed, and messaged, and no one from Dolly answered me. This company really screwed us over and turned what would have otherwise been a smooth 2-hour move turned into a 6.5-hour ordeal of moving in our own car. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

What went bad: 1. The movers do not care at all for your stuff. They will drag your mattress on the streets, turn and twist sofa and furniture like there is no tomorrow. 2. The movers do not care for your walls. I have around 10 dents on the walls after they moved the stuff. 3. The movers are in-experienced. The movers had lot of difficulties moving my stuff out of the house. I called different movers and they seemless moved the things through the same doors. 4. The movers broke lot of things. 5. Their customer service cannot get worse. I had insurance on most of my things that movers moved, still I had to follow up with them for 2 months to get paid for the claims. 6. Please listen to the reviewers! This was literally the worst experience EVER. Cancelled last minute. I can't think of anything worse, in an already stressful time. Cancelled exactly when they were supposed to show up. What are you supposed to do? If you can't trust movers that you hire through a company, who the hell can you trust. Moving is ALWAYS a time sensitive situation. Before you book this company, think of what you are going to do when they cancel on you! It's impossible to find a truck or helpers last minute. So this was at 10:30 am, then they reschedule someone for 4:00pm. We had to be out by then! Mind you, this is a well planned ahead of time move (besides the Dolly part was not well planned obviously). If you are buying a house or renting an apartment, moves are usually always the same day from old to new place. DO NOT TRUST THEM! So I had to cancel the 4:00 since we started to cram everything in our one SUV and car, and leave our well loved couch on the curb, because we had to be out before then. Who knows if they would of cancelled on us again. Dolly had the absolute audacity to take $80 for a cancellation fee. They cancelled on us and then took a cancellation fee. If they think they are keeping that they are OUT OF THEIR MINDS! Dolly also set up a call before the move, and I specifically asked them...what happens if someone cancels. They said we live in such a large market there is surely someone who will fill in! They also said they work "hard" to find a replacement! All they do is keep your posting up. Customer Service is IMPOSSIBLE and did not answer throughout this whole situation by the way. No one answered the proper phone line. I will absolutely be using Dolly again. The only hiccup we had was because it was raining, which couldn't have been helped, obviously. That said, the driver wrapped the couch he was delivering to me in plastic so the rain wouldn't damage it - which I didn't expect him to do. He was extremely kind, efficient, and courteous. He and his partner managed to get a gigantic sleeper couch up some narrow stairs... something I could have NEVER done on my own. I would have happily paid twice what Dolly charged me. I used Dolly to return furniture to the store that wouldn't fit into my car. It was easy to set up in the App. I was able to arrange it for the same day just a few hours later. They were quick, efficient and friendly. They were also very reasonably priced. I figured that it wasn't much more than renting a large van plus Dolly had someone do the heavy lifting. Trying to work with Dolly.com was an utterly terrible experience. If I could give zero stars I would, because that equates to the level of service and professionalism that I received from them - zero! If you wish a full explanation, please see below. This involve an attempted small move in the Chicago area. I booked at Dolly.com well in advance providing all of the requested info. The work was to be moving a large bathroom vanity from one place in a home to another. I completed the request by entering an acceptable 6-hour window; i.e., 8 AM until 2 PM on a Thursday. Three days before the planned service, I got a text saying basically "we got you". Then, the day before, I got a text saying "we are finding your help and will update". This was followed a few hours later by a request for the weight of the object t and pictures. I provided the info, thinking there was indeed progress. As evening wore on (i.e., less than 10 h before the start time), I still had heard nothing confirming the appointment nor a specification of the time for arrival. I texted back. Nothing. Early the next morning (i.e., an hour before the start time), I texted again asking for confirmation, a simple professional courtesy. Nothing. I waited. A few hours later, I tried the email help line. Nothing. Finally, at ca. 15 min to the end of the scheduled time, I called the number that had texted me earlier in the week. After a 30+ minute hold, an agent told me basically that they were not going to fulfill the order as they had not secured any Helpers. Mind you, I had to call in order to find this out. Thus, Dolly.com showed an utter lack of both professional service and professional courtesy. Not only did they not complete what they said/advertised they would do but they did not even have the decency to tell me that they wouldn't! I sat at home all day (not going to work) thinking that they were doing as they said they would when in reality they had done nothing! The agent had the effrontery to say that "well, we won't charge you for cancelling the order"! She then said alternately that they could reschedule for 2 - 5 that afternoon; but, she could not give me any assurance that it would actually occur because they did not have Helpers identified. So what good is that!!?? Then, she said they could do it on another day, perhaps. Really? So, I could miss another entire day of work only to risk having the same thing happen? I asked to speak to a manager, who called me back another 30 min later. She was politer and more conveyed a wish to help. But, in the end, she too was unable to identify any movers and so the job was left undone. Moreover, she failed to give me a promised call back aimed at figuring out what might be done next. In short, Dolly.com completely failed to deliver service (for what was a standard work order) and completely failed to show professional courtesy or reasonable solutions. A whole day of waiting, not to mention all of the earlier promises, texting, documentations, and phone calls, produced nothing save extreme frustration. The next morning (a Friday) I received a text from Dolly.com, which essentially said "sorry, would you give us another chance". I thought "OK", and set up new delivery options for that day or the next and proceeded to wait for service. Long story short, they completely failed again to identify anyone. And, again, I never received a promised call to discuss the matter. The next morning (now Saturday), I received the "sorry, would you give us another chance" message again. Against my better judgement, I called the number and talked to yet another agent. He guaranteed me that someone would be available if I waited until Tuesday of the next week. (This would be 6 days from the original plan.) Too my surprise, soon thereafter I got texts and messages online indicating that two Helpers were identified and scheduled for Tues at 1. Could it be that this would actually get done??? Early on Tuesday morning, texts from the lead Helper indicated that we are on track. Then, he wrote about 30 min before the scheduled time and said I cannot do the job. Dolly.com did not write or text me and so I was again forced to do the contacting. They admitted that the job had fallen through. Again! At this point, I was utterly exhausted and gave up. I most assuredly cannot recommendation Dolly.com. For more, it was more than a week of wasted effort and nothing was achieved but my extreme frustration! Their ineptitude may not only prevent you from getting that specific task completed but their failures may also compromise the other subsequent tasks that are dependent on the move occurring (e.g., plumbing work, second stage of a move). I see that some customers were satisfied; that's nice to hear. But, keep in mind that you might be the next "me" who is completely disappointed by Dolly.com. read more

The short version is that my wife and I hired Dolly to move a treadmill that was delivered in our garage attached to our basement up 2 flights of stairs to our bedroom. The helpers struggled on many levels and caused significant damage to our walls, hardwood floors, hand rails, and the treadmill itself. After almost 2 months of effort and over 20 emails with Dolly support the damage has still not been repaired. read more

I wanted to try this service for the first time to pick up amd deliver a small kitchen table set I purchased through Facebook marketplace. I was originally quoted $89 which was reasonable since I didn't have a pick up truck. I even sprung for 2 movers just so I didn't have to worry about a helper on the sellers end helping. Once they get there the say there were stairs to get to the 3rd floor and my piece literally tripled. Not doubled but tripled. The delivery ended up costing more thank the item itself. Ling story short with these types of hidden fees I would not recommend using this service. Not worth it AT ALL. read more

I knew there was an app for that. I needed furniture moved and I needed it to happen fast. I turned to my IPhone store and found the Dolly app. I quickly signed up and put in my information and the items I wanted and then a helper picked up the job. Hector picked up my job after confirming with me some details and time. A helper was matched to him so there would be two people moving. This happened within an hour of me posting my dolly. Hector and his helper did a great job. They helped me move three pieces of furniture from the Salvation Army back to my apartment. They were on-time. They did the job quickly. They were patient when I was waiting to pay for the furniture. They moved the item quickly into my apartment asking where I wanted each piece and insuring there was no damage to the furniture or my apartment. All this for less than $100 and less than an hour! My issue is not with my helper Brian, he was amazing and he did everything he could to aid my move in and make it as smooth as possible. My issue is with dolly because they double booked Brian to help other people move at the same time as me. Brian was forced to be over an hour late to load the truck (which was out of his control) and this cause a huge problem because I had a scheduled two hour move in time at my building. The whole situation caused me a great deal of stress and I had to do a lot more work and had to argue with my building attendant just to be able to move my things in. I will never be booking Dolly again due to their extreme disregard for their customers and their poor employees. 10/10 would never recommend Dolly's service but I would 10/10 recommend Brian. read more

We used Dolly for the first time over a holiday weekend to move a VERY heavy piece of furniture down three flights of stairs. The app was super easy to use and within 30 minutes someone was booked. Went off without a hitch. It wash hard to stomach paying $125 for someone to come remove furniture, ($100 for the removal, $25 tip since they were so awesome) but that's the going rate, and after seeing how much work it was, I felt like it was $125 well spent. My only concern about using Dolly in the future is the reviews where people have said they've been cancelled on at the last minute. We have an upcoming move and while I would love to use Dolly for the whole thing I'm worried about those last minute cancellations. What would I do if we were left having to do the whole move on our own? Hope the Dolly team can figure out that part of the app since it's a HUGE help! read more

So last Sunday we scheduled our apartment move with Strong Arm Movers. My boyfriend had called earlier in the week to schedule our move. He spoke with the owner, Frank, and came to an agreement that my boyfriend would help one mover since we only needed to move our furniture. The guy showed up and looked at our apartment, refused to help us move and walked out. As most of you know, you have to reserve your time slots at two different locations (your move out and move in). We had no idea what to do at this point but luckily had heard about Dolly. I downloaded the app and put in all the info about what we needed moved. You can choose how many movers you need. You can indicate what all you need moved and you can take photos to the mover a better idea of what will be needed for your move. We waited about 20 minutes and we were shown that Andres had picked up our Dolly. Andres arrived on time and was MORE than helpful! He knew all the tips and tricks to moving and had anything you could imagine you'd need; tarps, sheets to lay down, bungee cords and cables, tie downs, etc. He was efficient and extremely strategic when it came to packing up his trailer/van. He came in with a positive attitude and seriously changed our entire day around. I don't know what we would've done without this app. and Andres expertise! Saviors of the day! Thanks to Dolly I didn't have to bother any of my friends nor worry about getting them injured for helping me! I have been meaning to add a few pieces of furniture to my apartment but didn't want to hire a moving company since it definitely won't be worth the traveling fee and 2 - 3 hour minimum charge. Then I found out about this app and it was the greatest thing ever. The app is awesome looking and easy to use (it used to crash pretty often but has been much improved since the latest update). I really like how it provides an instant quote that is fixed, so I feel very well-informed about my orders. In contrast a lot of moving companies can quote you a low number to get you in the door but then in the end take much longer than you expect. I've had 2 Dolly jobs so far and both times the movers were right on time and very efficient. Everything was done quickly and affordably. If only I knew about this earlier... could have probably gotten most of my old stuff moved for about $200 rather than paying a full-on moving company $400. Live and learn. read more

The floor model had a bit of damage on it and they wanted to make sure yet his was ok with us. We already knew about the damage, but appreciated their concern and thoughtfulness. I had to arrange delivery of refrigerator from outlet store to 3rd floor apartment and pickup and removal of old refrigerator to another location. The movers did this all with the app communication meeting people I arranged in each location. Excellent job- highly recommend! read more
