I don't know how seriously they take reviews, but it's pretty frustrating when they close before their posted hours. We came from downtown for an appointment my son had at an office nearby. I arrived at 2:55 PM, and the place was already closed. I could see the employees standing by the register. I even touched the door and waited a bit, hoping they might have time to let me in, but I'm guessing they had already cleaned the espresso machine and the chairs were up on the tables. Who knows when they actually closed. To the employees who may be reading this review: you're part of a chain. People know your business and often plan their schedules around stopping by. If you're supposed to close at 3:00 PM, then lock the door at 3:05 PM. Nothing bad will happen, I promise. (I usually leave a 50% tip, but who cares...) I'm giving two stars only because the coffee is good. The service, not so much. Even when I arrive during business hours, the staff often look like they don't really want to be there. read more

Made my return here for the first time in a long time, and am still a fan! Popped in for some breakfast & caffeine while I got some work done. Welcoming, cozy place with a rotating door of customers! Especially parents and their kiddos before dropping them at school across the street. Overall great community vibes. I ordered their 'healthy breakfast sandwich' with sausage, along with an almond milk latte. I definitely like their coffee. Sandwich was good too, and certainly filling. I didn't have much room left for the pile of brekkie potatoes that comes on the side, but theyre tasty. It hit the spot. Overall worth the stop-in! read more

I had 90 minutes to kill before a date across the street. The weather was cooling rapidly, so I decided to have a seat and sip a coffee before the event. I ordered a Maple Pancake Latte. It took a few minutes to come out, but the wait was worth it. I suppose for folks in a hurry, there's always Dunkin. I loved that it wasn't overly sweet, and while lattes aren't typically espresso forward, the coffee notes weren't completely lost. The prices weren't the cheapest around, but in-line with a coffee shop like this. The place is on the smaller side, with three small tables, one large table, and ample countertop seating. Thus, while Dollop is not mind-blowing or a destination, it gets the job done well as a local coffee shop to grab a cup, do some work, or even meet someone. read more

I've been going to this location for 5 years. At this point I can no longer support this business. The coffee has always been bad, the staff is typically very rude, and I've always been nothing but friendly to them. The only reason I kept coming back was because they stock Beacon donuts. I've gone three times in a row an hour after they open and they don't have any. Also as far as cafes go, the inside is not a welcoming environment. I've given this place more than enough grace, but after five years I can no longer support this business. read more

I'm still a huge fan of Dollop! I came by yesterday because I wanted to enjoy the gorgeous weather. Dollop has a nice little patio along Paulina that I absolutely love. It gets a good amount of sun, but there are some shadier options available if that's what you prefer. It's also dog friendly, so expect to see some cute pups if you camp out here to get some work done! My favorite beverage is still the iced snickerdoodle latte. It's the perfect creamy coffee beverage I look for. Over the past few months, I've tried a few other drinks from the menu and I can truly say I've enjoyed every one! The consistency between each visit really appreciated, especially when it can sometimes be lacking at larger coffee chains. My only gripe really are the hours (8am -2pm). I like to go to coffeeshops in the afternoon to break up my days a little bit since I usually take meetings in the am. Unfortunately with the hours it can be difficult, but I make it work because the coffee is so dang good! read more

Came up this way to take my roommates (Otto and Bocce) to Montrose Dog Beach on an overcast Saturday morning. There are quite a few coffee shops in the area, but I am familiar with the Dollop brand and felt like I knew what I was walking in to. My experience was true to brand - snobby baristas. Efficient, but snobby. They seemed in a big hurry to get me out of there...spoiler alert, I was the only person in the store aside from the 2 people who worked there. Coffee was okay - it was a great temperature; I could drink it right away. But no branded cup. So, please tell me that I paid 8.00 for a dirty chai on the Northside and now I can't even take a picture of it? Pastries were full of chocolate or vegan. I have been coming to this dollop location for a while and have found it to be a perfectly lovely neighborhood coffee spot. Great pastries and excellent drink specials plus just an absolutely kind and attentive staff. I love that there's a patio and even a pick-up window for folks with dogs grabbing coffee on the go. But for how great the outside space is, the inside often feels sterile, crowded, and unwelcoming. There are a couple small tables which are fine, but the very uncomfortable hard plastic chairs plus the constant blasting air conditioning makes it impossible to sit here for more than an hour or so. The bar on the wall has a wavy shape to it which looks cool but makes it really awkward to sit at, especially if you are trying to work on a laptop. This brings me to my biggest issue: it is IMPOSSIBLE to get any work done at this location. It is just too small for the amount of people generally here and everyone ends up yelling over one another. I think this is partially the fault of the giant "community table" which makes up the bulk of the shop. 99% of the time it is occupied with an exhausted parent loudly fighting with a toddler over a donut. I'm at a loss as to why this place has become a haven for kids screaming, running, and even RIDING SCOOTERS around the cafe. Sometimes there are multiple strollers blocking the, again, VERY small space. Between the noise and the claustrophobic feeling, it becomes unbearable. It is not fair to ask the baristas to run a cafe in a space that has essentially become a playground, so my caution is to simply STAY AWAY if you are trying to read, concentrate, or have a quiet conversation. But for grabbing anything to-go from the excellent staff, I highly recommend. read more

Love this diner! They always busy and yet my service is never delayed. Coffee cup is full and my standard order is the 2x2x2 and the food is delicious in my opinion. Everyone is friendly even when customers aren't the most kind in return. Had to wait a bit one time for a take out order and the host offered me a donut as an apology. I have been back so many times to this very special place and I am greeted always in a positive light. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I am very happy to have Dollop in the neighborhood and missed having a coffee shop on that corner for the past year. I have waited to review until I have gone a few times, and each time has been great. So far I have tried both coffee and donuts, both which have been fantastic . In addition, they have a number of breakfast and lunch items that also look quite tasty. Service has been friendly and efficient every time I have gone and even when they are making specialty drinks, they do so in a timely fashion. I live just down the street from Dollop. I was absolutely thrilled when they opened to have a coffee shop that close. I'm here at least once a week. Their coffee is great- a medium cafe au lait is enough to get me through Sundays when I work from home. Their lattes are always perfect- even their specials like the pumpkin pie lattes and snickerdoodle lattes are great (not too sweet). The space is bright and airy with nice exposed brick walls, huge windows, and plenty of seating and of course wifi. They did a great job renovating the space. It feels so clean and cozy. I personally like to either sit in the window for some people watching or right up at the bar to watch them make drinks. I've had their croissants and donuts, both good. The only food I've ordered is their egg sandwich because it just hits the spot every time and is so good. Highly recommend- very nice people, the coffee is good and so is the food. read more

Bad coffee slow service no atmosphere. There really is nothing these guys get right, except maybe Beacon Donuts. The selection is not good, the coffee is not good, the atmosphere is generic with two dirty industrial refrigeration units in the dining area! We miss the lovely personal coffee shop that was here before that felt just like home! Based on this I don't understand how Dollop has expanded. we had an excellent experience here this morning, 7/5. our food is delicious and the service was beyond superb for the circumstances. 4 stars because the person working was alone, on a day where corporate america is off work and other restaurants are closed. this management team needs to treat their workers better and support them so that they don't have to be stressed beyond belief by their workload. this person was so kind and through it all was good to us. they explained the situation and apologized even though they absolutely did not have to. great service overall. read more
