The staff are beyond friendly, there is usually a spot to sit (minus sometimes on weekends if you come later in the morning/early afternoon), and my drinks are always made perfectly. I was very hungry when I popped in here with friends and glad I was because they had a large variety of food and drinks including am vegetarian and vegan options. I was immediately greeted by a wonderfully friendly staff member. They were so kind when I want sure what to order. I ended up with a hibiscus lemonade and the garden goddess sandwich. It was very fresh and very good. I was able to order sweet potato chips to go with it, which are my favorite. It was very crowded but we were able to find a seat. Colectivo Coffee Andersonville is such a vibe! It has easily become my favorite place to work from when I want a change of scenery. The inside is massive, it has two sides with ample tables. They have tables of various sizes so they can accommodate solo people or parties of four. Colectivo is my favorite place to grab a breakfast sandwich even if I don't opt to dine-in. They also have a lot of tasty baked goods. I'm a fan of the cookies but you honestly cannot go wrong with any decision. The baked goods are slightly above what I normally would pay but they are consistent and delicious. I've had majority of the everyday cookies (I believe they also offer seasonal treats). This is a very popular location so I suggest getting there early if you want a table near a plug. Sometimes if you want a table in general. They get a lot of foot traffic but the staff turns the line over quickly so you never have to wait too long. The interior of this Colectivo blends beautifully into the older building it inhabits. The exposed brick and plants give it a warming atmosphere which was needed at the time of the visit. It has plenty of comfortable seating with outlets which is prime for studying or getting work done. As well as free wifi. Even though it was cold outside, I decided to try the Cold Brew Oat-chata, which I definitely recommend. You could taste the horchata influence which blended well with the cold brew. I will say they had multiple staff members, but only one was making drinks and there was a big line of people who were waiting for their beverages. I love Colectivo and was excited to try this location, it's really adorable and cozy inside. It happened to be a gorgeous day when I visited so the garage doors were opened and the place was packed! Despite that, the friendly staff was able to take my order quickly. I went with the iced pistachio matcha latte which was sooo yummy. The pistachio flavor complimented the matcha so nicely -- it was nutty, slightly sweet, and deliciously creamy. Since it was lunchtime, I also ordered the turkey club which was bomb. I love a good turkey sandwich and this is just that. The sandwich has smoked turkey, bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and pesto mayo piled high on sourdough. So yummy! Cashier was pretty aggressive in the way he went about explaining no dogs in the shop, when my friend accidentally carried their dog into the shop not seeing the sign on the other entrance that we did not even go through (no sign was posted on the entrance we actually did go through.) We gave no fuss about it and they was apologetic but he was still trying to hammer in after he already told them, "just so you know because we have customers complaining about the cleanliness." Like chill, they were on their way out. He also got our order completely messed up. He rang up two spicy maple lattes but we only ordered one. The other drink was actually a smoked vanilla latte. I even told him the size of my drink before saying the name and he still asked me what size I wanted. Clearly he wasn't listening. We ordered 4 drinks and didn't even ring up the 4th drink. We came out with 3, and the barista asked us if we had all our drinks, which was appreciated because she could have easily gone on to make drinks and ignore us. Thankfully, she was very kind and she was able to fix our order. Drinks themselves were fine. The spicy maple latte had a hint of spice on the bottom, but I didn't taste much maple. The honey cardamom latte was pretty good, and it has a nice cardamom flavor. Both drinks were not too sweet. I'd definitely order the cardamom latte again! read more

Stopped by after getting my nails done because I needed something to eat. I ended up getting an avocado toast with an egg and a pistachio matcha. The matcha was honestly one of the best I've had in a while, the pistachio flavor was lovely. I also did enjoy my avocado toast, but I've honestly had better. Most of the seating is outside, which confuses me as a native Chicagoian considering how the winters are cold. This means that during the winter months, it seems to be grab and go which is a shame since the seating inside is very minimal. Nonetheless, the outdoor seating did add charm to the place as a whole. The cashier was very helpful and helped me navigate the decently sized menu. I will stop by to try some more drinks and perhaps another food item the next time I am near Lincoln Park. read more

Not a bad shop. I woke up this morning before 6 (gross, stop it) and sleep continued to be elusive even though I was tired. Why?? Only too late did I remember I have a few sleep apps on my phone, but by that point going to sleep would have made me even more tired upon waking so I thought, caffeine may help. (Hopefully more than it would the average Joe--pun intended--since I don't really get much caffeine elsewhere!) Enter Colectivo. Since I woke so early I had the idea maybe I'd get going pretty early (spoiler alert: didn't) and most of the coffee shops around me (that is, almost all of them) open at 7 or later. So I thought I'd try Colectivo, because they open bright and early at 6:30. They are located on the southeast corner of Clark & Rascher in Andersonville (across Rascher from Philadelphia Church). I am not a coffee drinker; yuck. It's a bummer most places have such a limited non-coffee menu, but oh well, at least I can almost always find something. My go-to is usually a chai latte, unless there is something else that piques my interest. Today I chose Colectivo's chocolate chai, which is a spicy version with cocoa. (I also noticed no one has tried/reviewed this drink, so that also solidified my choice.) It wasn't bad, and I'm not sorry I got it. The chocolate was definitely noticeable but not overpowering, and it didn't unbearably sweeten the drink (overall the drink wasn't as sweet as a plain chai latte you might find at many coffee shops, including one that starts with an S and ends with a buck). I really liked the addition of a spicy element. I was actually a little skeptical of it and almost played it safe with a plain chai; I've had some drinks that added a bit of cayenne and it was unpleasant. This was just spicy to add some heat, and a subtle flavor that at most enhanced the other flavors; it didn't taste like pepper in your drink. Well done. I'm not sure I'd get it again, mostly because I prefer the plain chai flavor without the chocolate taste. Now a plain chai flavor with a spice of the other one could be interesting.... Anyway, next time I'd like to try a plain chai latte since that's what I know. Parking is probably kinda iffy, even early in the day, since Rascher is fully residential. Colectivo has an app you can use to order your drink, and it also currently allows for curbside pickup. The app asks for the make and color of your car, so it was a little weird that the woman came to me with some sort of iced thing... had it not been iced, I might have thought it was my drink. I'm not sure the point of asking for that information if they aren't going to pay attention to it. But the person who brought me my drink was friendly and perky, which helped me begrudgingly wake up all the more! Also, when I placed my order, the app said it didn't go through but since I'd used Apple Pay I got a notification from my wallet; I had to call to make sure they received the order, since I didn't want to get charged twice and had no use for two drinks (they had received it, so weird app glitch?). The inside looks rather small, but cute, and I'd like to stop inside sometime. Outside they had multiple tables set up for people to enjoy their morning pick me up. I hope curbside pick-up remains an option even post-pandemic. If so, this would make it a prime choice for me on days when I'm looking for something to wake me up (or just something warm to drink), because parking in and around my neighborhood can be iffy at the best of times. read more

We love Colectivo and especially love this location! We always have a great, consistent experience going here. Great coffee, attentive and welcoming customer service, and the food (pastries and sandwiches) are always a hit with us. Their breakfast pesto sandwich and chocolate chip cookies are a personal favorite. Their iced coffee is perfectly brewed every time we go there. Heads up: if you're not ordering a drink that's typically ready to go (hot or iced coffee, for example), expect to wait a bit longer than usual for your drink to be done. This might be obvious, but I've noticed a few times where I decided to order a specialty drink instead of my usual iced coffee order and the wait can be a bit long compared to other coffeehouses I've been to, especially during their busy times. But hey, you can't rush a great drink. When I remember to plan ahead, I download the app and order about 10-15 mins ahead to avoid a longer wait in person! A quick ambiance note too: this isn't the best place to have an intimate convo with a friend or park here for a good work or study session for a few hours unless you have headphones. I came here with some friends visiting Chicago for the first time (and actually the US for the first time). It was their first day arriving to the US and we were looking for a place we could walk to for a simple breakfast or lunch. On a Tuesday around noon, this place was surpassingly poppin'. Basically almost all the outdoor seating and almost all the indoor seating was occupied and there was a constant line. This in my mind was a good sign. I'm glad we came here for the vibes and we were actually able to score an outdoor table which was perfect given the nice 70s weather. I ordered a veggie breakfast burrito and must say that the thing was tiny! I'm pretty sure I ate the whole thing in about 4 normal bites. It was okay tasting, but note to self... I need to get something else next time. My friends did like what they ordered though which was great. I'll be back again to try something else! read more

I ordered my drink on the app and as I walked out I bumped my shoulder into the door frame and spilled it before taking a sip. I walked back to the counter and waited 5 minutes for the three employees to do everything else but take my order. When I finally got someone to acknowledge me, I said "I spilled my drink by the door right as I picked it up and would like another one." He served me another drink and charged me again. A good coffee shop would have offered me the drink for free, instead of having me pay for two drinks and only consuming one. This is the poor service you can expect here. Environment - located in a cute and welcoming neighborhood and the coffee shop feels the same. It's very clean and has a lot of plants throughout the shop which gives it a homey feel. Coffee - I got an iced oat milk honey latte and it was way too sweet. I couldn't taste the coffee at all. Felt like the baristas didn't know what they were doing. Food - I ordered a veggie pesto burrito and the portions were very small. The food also tasted like it was made in a microwave and left me feeling a little sick. The food and coffee are always solid, given that it's a chain, but I find that the vibes aren't as immaculate as the Evanston one bc of the lack of seating? It's always crowded and the seats are nearly all wood and not very comfy. Consistency to paraphrase Anthony Bourdain is the key to a successful restaurant ( see McDonalds). Colectivo succeeds. I had the Salmon on Multi Grain and it's the same as the one on 2530 N Clark. That goes for the service too. I've always felt they are trained to be nice even if they don't feel like it. As in any Colectivo this place looks nice, it's a loft style with its exposed brick and duct work, all in the same color wheel of beige to green. And, like all the best coffeehouses, customers are allowed to hang out and do their thing without getting the bum's rush. My friend Jen and I took advantage of the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere on a recent Monday afternoon when we sat for, literally, 3.5 hours and "caught up", as long-time female friends are wont to do. We were both newcomers to Colectivo. We came because our lunch plans with a mutual friend fell through, and we wanted to go somewhere inexpensive. We each had just a coffee of the day. I am vegan, so I don't sully the pure taste of my coffee with additives of any sort. I like good taste. The coffee of the day tasted good. No bitterness, very smooth. Jen went with a cream cheese brownie immediately, forgetting that I'm vegan and wouldn't help her eat it. She somehow managed to eat the whole thing with enthusiasm. Ha! I wonder if she planned that all along? After about half an hour, I went to the counter and ordered one of the vegan selections, a wrap described as edamame-hummus with avocado. I didn't detect any solid edamame beans, so I think that was part of the spread. This was absolutely delicious, and very filling. I would definitely order this again. In fact, I may keep the photo of it handy on my phone, to show people who say to me, "You're vegan? You mean all you eat is salad?" No, hardly. When you order food at the counter, you're given a number on a stand to display on your table. A server will bring your food to you. After the meal, you are expected to bus your own table. I can't speak to WiFi speed or wireless connectivity, because Jen and I were strictly interested in interpersonal connection. Our first experience at Colectivo was 100% positive. It's a good spot if you like novelty in your menu. There is sometimes a wait for the bathroom during peak times (they have only 2 toilets for the entire place - coffee is a diuretic). Customers need to be more respectful about saving the 4-top tables for parties larger than 1 person. read more

Man oh man! I am so thrilled to see this as a new addition to Clark Street! We have no shortage of fantastic coffee shops in this neighborhood, so Colectivo fits right in. I made my first order here a nitro cold brew which really livened my senses (this will wake you right up!). The place was pretty packed around 10am, and there was a good amount of white noise if you are concerned about that. For me personally, I love a little bit of white noise while working at a coffee shop. The interior is very nicely lit, a little moody, and perfect for gathering. On nice days, they'll open the windows, and the patio is available and looks pretty dog friendly if you want to bring your pooch. I'm looking forward to coming back soon and trying other things on the menu. It seems like this spot is going to become a Clark Street staple. Unlike some of the business that have been turning over recently, I get the sense Colectivo isn't going anywhere! read more
