    Iced Latte
    Anthony D.

I saw such great reviews and the place definitely lives up to its expectations in terms of atmosphere. It is relatively small in terms of seating with only a few true tables and the rest being high-tops along the wall and counter. The barista was nice and it has some really cool artwork as well. It is important to note that you do need to go down some steps to get in. For me, the coffee was just okay. I ordered an Iced Latte and was underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, it was decent coffee. I plan to stop by next time I'm in the area to try out some other options.

The coffee is so good! Came twice and tried an ice late and a a hot mocha. Both were so good. They also ave veggie meat options for breakfast sandwiches The inside is super cute with tons of art work. The prices were very reasonable, especially for how cute of a shop it is.

What a GEM! Drink Happy Thoughts is not only an amazing coffee shop, it brews positivity in every beverage. I love the message this place offers. It has plenty of space to catch up with friends, work, or sit and read. Also plus, it is black male owned! I visited with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. We were able to snag a spot by the window, chat, and people watch. It was pretty busy but most folks got their coffee to go or sat and enjoyed briefly. We ordered: Ice Spice Latte: Such a nice blend of cinnamon, spiced honey we ordered it hot thought it can be iced as well. Matcha Bliss: This was my menu highlight truly the best matcha I have ever had, smooth, creamy, not too chalky and the best part? Pistachio syrup. So so yummy, I dream of this matcha! Pumpkin Cold Brew: Perfect for the season, nice pumpkin flavor which was not too over powering. Nice and creamy and bold coffee flavor. We also ordered some bites, including a ham sandwich on an everything bagel as well as the chorizo empanada. Highly recommend the empanada or 6 of them lol Get to Drink Happy thoughts, make your stomach and mind happy!

we lovedddd it. this location is super cute and cozy too. I live close and will definitely be coming in to edit/work or just have a cute tea! My foodie friend said 9/10, and she's a big matcha/coffee girlie! H was also super so sweet and helpful!!

Checked out this pretty small but cozy coffee shop in Uptown on Montrose. Drink Happy Thoughts is a clever name. It more importantly has good coffee too. Good place for doing work or just chilling. There's also a few cookies and other pastries. A limited menu but it's big enough. It's about $6 for a latte. The last time here I got the Nutty Professor. Has a pretty good combination of nuttiness and sweetness to it. This is made with a double shot of espresso, and pistachio and rosemary syrups. It's about $3 for a cookie. These are pretty limited in options. Good place to get perked up in the morning or any time you can. It's located on Montrose east of Sheridan. The hours are kind of limited because they close early even on weekdays.

Apparently this place is busy on Saturday mornings but we were able to finds seats due to the St. Patrick's day weekend. I got an everything bagel with pesto, eggs, and some kind of meat (ham?). It came hot. Bagel was soft and almost chewy. The pesto elevated the dish. Definitely recommend!

Drinks were pretty good. I went in the later afternoon & the staff assured me that they'd ran out of a lot of items so be aware of that. I was also under the impression that they'd have much more food items such as various toasts but it was basically just bagels. My wife indulged in a latte which she liked, daughter got a hot chocolate with a freshly toasted strawberry marshmallow & I got the matcha. While i don't drink these types of drinks often I'm willing to say that there's some serious tlc going into these & if ever in the area do indulge

Talk about a gem of a café! Near the eastern end of Montrose before you reach Lake Shore Drive (nope, not saying its full government name), you're going to catch this quaint, lowkey coffee shop that holds a powerful menu full of incredible coffee, teas, and hand crafted espresso drinks. While they have a standard set of drink options, there is also an additional seasonal menu, giving you some fun items to choose from and get through the days. On top of that, there are also baked goods on display as well as a little food menu too. There's not too much seating available and there is usually only one batista on site, so when there's a line it can take some time to get your order. I can say though, the personal charm of Drink Happy Thoughts does its own work of bringing you back for more. It's a wonderful space to work, chill, and people watch, especially if you manage to get a seat at their only table right next to the window. The staff is very very friendly here. Always so warm, asking you how is your day, genuinely wanting to get to know you; it really lives up to their name by drinking and thinking happy thoughts. All coffee drinks are brewed with Happy Monday beans, and these beans are available for purchase, along with other accessories and apparel (I have been eyeing the beige sweats with the melting smiley face tbh). Cold brew person? They got it on the menu and they also sell them in bigger batches. The vibe here is pretty ideal for a café. The tunes they got playing on their TV tie the whole relaxed style in this space. It really makes the coffee taste all the more sweeter. Living near here is a huge plus, but even if this location is out of reach, they have a second location in Humboldt Park. Check them out, they'll be one of your favorite cafés in the city soon enough.

Loved this little coffee place. Simple and modern with a focus on crafting great tasting lattes. All the milk substitutions you'd want and sugar free syrup options too. There is some cute seating in this place but definitely a more take it to go vibe. No food options besides donuts but the people in front and back of us seemed content with their beautiful donuts with unique flavors ( I overheard someone order a tiramisu donut and another a lavender one - not exactly sure what that would taste like but it looked beautiful). Would return if in the neighborhood again - my latte was perfect!

I've wanted to check out this coffee shop for a long time and finally did. BLACK OWNED baby, (under new ownership) and happy! It's small seats in a booth 4, high tops another 4 and there's another section of high tops so I would say comfortably 20 people max at a time. Meter parking on the side. They are known for their honey bear latte, I saw some great cans of Kombucha as well and I'm sure they offer tea. Not to mention the walls are so cool!

Another coffee shop, amazing and it's cute. Yes it's open on a Monday too! It's vegan, vegetarian friendly as well. It's a small coffee shop, so you can miss it if your driving. When your coming into the shop, everyone one is super friendly. The drinks are really good. Can't complain at all. The bear drink is Delicious and cute.

Yum! Coffee delicious. Breakfast is a pre made bagel, but very good. I had the vegan egg and sausage, no cheese and it was tasty and warm.

I went around 6:30pm on a weekday and things were pretty quiet- although this seemed to be popular for takeout, the interior was very cute and there was ample room for seating. They have an extensive menu of delicious sandwiches on homemade bread, so it was hard to pick just one! I opted for the roast beef sandwich, and it could have definitely lasted for two moderately sized meals. It took a bit longer than expected to come out, but it was perfectly toasted and truly made to order. The unsung hero of the sandwich was the rosemary ciabatta bread, which added that subtle extra flavor that would remind you this is a speciality spot. The avocado and grilled onions with melty cheese made for a well rounded rich flavor. I do think the beef could have been a tiny bit fresher and think a more flavorful aioli would have upped the sandwich, but overall it was still tasty and satisfying. I would definitely return to try more of the sandwiches and recommend paying a visit! I

I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.
