New location! It's clean, organized, and the aisles are spaced nicely (not cramped). Lots of parking and right next to Planet Fitness.

I continue to be so in love with this store. If you're into shops that will have you looking in…read moreevery single corner wanting every single thing, then this is your stop. Tonight I finished my holiday shopping for my niece and picked up a couple of beautiful gifts. The kids section contains high-quality merchandise. My hubby was literally double-parked outside, and I thought I could just run in and out, but no way. I wanted to buy the entire collection! From adorable natural cotton baby clothes to books, to stuffed animals, to toys, you will not leave empty-handed. They have something for every budget, and I think the prices are spot on for the quality. I truly admit to being completely obsessed with an adorable owl stuffed animal. Sooooo cute! Now, the best part about this store? Well, aside from the well-curated merchandise, is the owner. She's a total sweetheart and helped me pick out the perfect gift. She also gift-wrapped it in a super cute burlap bag with my choice of tissue color and a tie. Thank you...thank you. I'm so happy to see that this store is around. I need to stop in more often. Of course, not just for baby gifts, because they have grown-up goodies and cards too. Run, don't walk to this store. You won't be disappointed. Plus, it's super cute inside.

Baa, Baa Black Sheep. Have you any gifts?…read moreYes, sir, yes, sir One store full; One for a housewarming, And one to celebrate a birthday, And one for the little boy Who lives down the lane. --- Sorry, couldn't help myself. You know you have little ones at home when you pass by a new store and can't get a nursery rhyme out of your head. Yes, there's a new store in Glencoe...whoo hoo! I haven't done much shopping in town since Shirise closed their doors earlier this year (RIP), but it's fabulous to have a store where you can quickly pop in for a housewarming gift or just a little something for visiting a new baby. In the few weeks BlackSheep has been open I've stopped in twice to purchase: a) a lovely candle for the host of dinner during the jewish holidays b) a lovey for a new baby visit (the "real" gift wasn't ready quite yet) And of course I can't forget the few times my pre-schooler has dragged me in there for "just a few pieces of candy." Based on the fabulous candy display they have set up I have a feeling we'll be spending lots of time (and $) at BlackSheep. Welcome to the hood BlackSheep!

The employee never even acknowledged me. She went to find the item for the other person. Fine. I get waiting my turn. The employee then proceeded to ring up the customer and then went ahead and did the rest of her purchases, about 20-25 items all non jewelry. Then the woman paid her $250 bill with $20 credits. Not once did the employee apologize or acknowledge that I was waiting while she did a sale for mainly non jewelry. The manager came over and grabbed a key but never acknowledged me. Came back about 5-10 minutes later as I still stood waiting. Asked how to help then told me I would have to wait. At this point is was clear I was frustrated after waiting over 20 minutes. The first apology I got but it was only kind of half hearted and at this point it was 25 minutes too late. I have no trouble waiting my turn. But I was there before that sale even started. That employee should've said I'm sorry, but given that there's other people waiting, (myself and someone else behind me) I'm going to have to ask you to make the rest of your purchase at the front of the store. There are so many other TJ Maxx that are so much better than this one anyways. I'd save your time on this one.

To begin with, I'm not a Lego person. I can appreciate it, but it's not my thing. My husband,…read morehowever, is. We don't have kids, but in the de Taylor household, I have to watch where I step, because there may be a Lego underfoot. Accordingly, my husband asked if we could stop by Brick Loot on the way home from Beyond the Cheddar Curtain, and I'm a team player. It's a pretty adorable store. The owner's dad** said that he has three main things that the store does. First, there's a monthly loot box for subscribers. Secondly, they sell lighting kits for legos. Finally, they sell legos themselves. It's not a huge shop, so it's not an alternative for going to the lego store. However, they have a lot of clever kits that I think the owner or the owner's dad put together, as well as the light kits and various spare parts. It's definitely a neat place to go for a lego enthusiast. The only thing I'd suggest is getting a "partner's chair" for when a partner comes along for the ride. However, I imagine that would also inspire inattentive parents to sit down and let their kids run wild, so perhaps that's not a good idea after all! ** The owner's dad was very clear that his 12 year old son was the owner and brain behind the operation, which I find pretty adorable too.
