I was extremely uncomfortable when I entered the store and the older lady who works at the store started following me around the store. Every turn I made she was there, FOLLOWING me. At first I thought it was my imagination but even my husband made a comment and said let's get out of here. Seriously. What the hell is wrong with people? I can only assume she is the owner as she was older with short hair and not very friendly and asked me if I need anything when I entered. It really made me upset that I can't walk around in a paper store and can't enjoy looking around. I would steer clear of this store! read more

I can always find something new and different in this store! I often go to look for a card or gift and end up with a few extra items I am excited about. My grandchildren love the stickers and fun drawing/craft items I've given them from this store. This store was the first place I saw emoji stickers a few years ago. Their cards are clever and funny. And as expected, their paper is second to none. I often go in just to browse and get ideas for later. The sales staff asks if I need anything, and then leaves me alone when I say I am just looking. I love it! They are there to help if I need it... but understand my need to browse uninterrupted. It's a great place to get lost in creativeness! read more

I have been going to Paper Source for a long time and had previously taken a class there and learned how to make covers for photo books using the nice collection of Papers available. Generally, I find Paper Source to be high priced and my purchases gravitate to the specialty papers for when I make my photo books and sometimes their holiday wrapping paper. Not at all a fan of their way overpriced trinkets. I receive, about daily, all kinds of specials (and trinket promotions) many are hard to understand. Twice I went to the Paper Source Store in Highland Park when they had a 50% off on holiday gift wrap paper rolls to find they were out of stock and per there unfriendly policies and staff they would not apply a discount to individual holiday gift wrap sheets that they did happen to have in stock. Also, they were offering a 10% discount for curbside pick-up., but the unfriendly lady said that since I was in the store I could not receive the discount. I used to go to Michael's for certain craft items and they almost always had some goofy coupon and the sales lady would point to some fine print and tell me the discount does not apply to my purchase. I tend to see a theme for businesses like Michaels and Paper Source that run promotions to bring you into a store, but than have a policy and or poor representative that for some reason you usually can not receive the discount, either because the promotion, was confusing, the product was out of stock, or the representative was poor, with Paper Source, all of the above apply. I tend to go to Amazon, or Hobby Lobby for most craft items as the prices are reasonable, discounts are understandable, sales people try to assist you (at Hobby Lobby), and return policies are fair. I used to absolutely love this place. It has so many novel gift-y things, great for people into scrapbooking and crafts. But, it has failed me twice this summer. The first time I can hardly blame it... I was looking for graduation-themed wrapping paper in mid-June, and nobody on the North Shore, from Target to the Container Store to Stationery Station to, well, Paper Source, had it. The best thing, though, was Paper Source's suggestion: "You could just buy some paper... and some stamps... and make it yourself!" Please, now. The second time, my search was less specific. I needed invitations for a tea party. Anything vaguely tea-themed would work. I went into the store, and they even had coffee-themed invitations, as well as lots of pretty colored/patterned ones... But nothing tea-themed. Their suggestion: "You could just buy some paper... and some stamps... and make it yourself!" They are definitely a source of paper. And stamps! But most things... you'll apparently have to buy some of the former... and some of the latter... and make it yourself! read more

I'm a former employee and just simply wanted to respond to Allison M. Even after 7 years it still absolutely confuses me...that a person is complaining that she came into a paper craft store and when she didn't find what she wanted was provided a solution to create it in her exact specifications. Again you came into a paper CRAFTS store and are complaining that you'd have to (heaven forbid) make something on your own. Boo boo if your time is that valuable..call ahead I would have saved you a trip. The store was like 750 square feet at best so no...we don't have a Magic stock room in the back with thousands of extra papers. Sometimes you have to just "do it yourself ". read more

I was welcomed by this wonderful woman who immediately greeted me and we began a conversation about life. I am grateful for Highland Parks hospitality and how gracious and friendly everyone was. I liked this store because it was beautiful and they had a lot of fun things to look at. I struck up a wonderful conversation with the manager of the store and enjoyed how much she took care of me and her kind, bubbly spirit. The store had some great pieces of paper that I walked away with. I would buy it all if I could. Great place to see. Thank you Amy for adding to my story this weekend. Great place to buy cards for birthdays, holidays, and events. I prefer places like this to chains such as Papyrus because I can generally find better, more personalized cards for much cheaper. The staff has always been friendly to me and I can usually find what I need right away. read more

I do not know why people gave paper source such negative reviews. I love paper source. They have a wonderful selection of stationary to choose from and fun crafts and gifts. Every time I write thank you notes or cards for special occasions, I always get compliments on the stationary that I selected from paper source. In addition to stationary they also have fun note pads that are very amusing. my personal favorites is a note pad with a list of reasons on "Why I must have sex with you" and another note pad with a list of "things you should do to keep me happy". The only thing about this store which I can now see maybe y some people gave it bad reviews is the pricing. I will admit their stationary is not cheap. However, if you need go quality stationary to write various cards for various occasions this is the place to go. read more

First of all to anyone who doesn't "get it" Paper Source is a DIY store... so when you go in there and can't find the exact product you're looking for of course they're going to suggest ways to do it with their products. I find their staff extremely helpful and creative this is the BEST store to go to if you don't mind rolling up your sleeves and actually putting some work into what you are doing. My only complaint is that their invitation department is a bit wishy washy on their prices and often time fall short of what they promise. I think the people of Highland Park expect too much this is NOT a store where you get people to do things for you and unfortunately a lot of the richy rich house wives want the cute DIY look but don't actually want to do anything themselves :/ read more

Unfriendly policies and staff. Went in there for some paper and was given 2 different colors. Went back to exchange within the hour and the salesperson who helped me was there and wouldn't exchange it without the receipt even though she remembered me and the sale. She then blamed me for choosing the wrong paper. And you wonder why people prefer Amazon? I won't be returning except to return what I didn't use. read more

Be careful what you buy!! I'm not sure if this is the case for ALL Paper Source locations, but I've worked several retail jobs and I know there are ways to provide better customer service than this. The manager (Colleen) won't give you credit or allow an exchange if you're honest and tell her that you used 1 sheet from a pack of paper to do a test print; HOWEVER if you "forget" to mention this, apparently you'd have no problems returning it. I bought a pack of cover paper for DIY wedding invitations and was told these papers were made to be printed on a laser printer. There were no other warnings or information on how or where to print these, and I was reassured I could bring them back if for some reason it didn't work out. In short, I was misinformed and the results were terrible.. it was too thick and didn't feed correctly so it printed crooked, and the paper came out with deep indentations. When I explained this to the manager (Colleen), she replied that she sends her customers to a specific print shop for this type of paper. And that "well, it did end up printing on the paper", so she wouldn't offer an exchange or credit. Considering that there were no warnings or signs with this information in the store area or labeled on the packs, I assumed she would allow an exchange just once.. but no. Oh well, they lost an honest customer over 1 piece of paper.. read more
