I tried to buy lanyard here and they were completely out. Like, none whatsoever. They have an assortment of very basic crafts and useless tchotchkes. On the tchotchkes front, I'd rather go to Cost Plus World Market. If I were Michaels, I'd double down on arts and crafts. That's what drew me here in the first place. Instead, I left with a cheap decorative pumpkin I don't need and some candy corn. And a plan never to return. The cashier was nice and very much alive. This was going to be a three-star review, but then I saw their lead image, which is currently that beyond awful Halloween display. Who put that up? They do not stand behind merchandise quality. I purchased 3 zippers for garments and all 3 failed within a couple of months. The garments were worn fewer than 8 times each, and zippers should continue to work for the life of a garment. Zippers are not easy to put in (then take out and put in again) and I wanted at least to not have to pay for them, but they were not returnable. From now on I will purchase only YKK zippers and I will not shop at Michael's again. read more

Updating my review as I reflect on frustrations I've had with Michaels- we are living through a pandemic, more things to be frustrated with and more time to ruminate! I do yearn for simpler times when my phone number was tied into my "membership " and when I'd check out and input my phone number an appropriate discount would be applied. Now they've gone to a rewards system- the more you spend the greater your rewards. Now the onus is on you to bring a printout of said reward (maybe it's on my phone- I dunno) and let the cashier know to scan it. If you don't do that you blow the reward. Also, THE REWARDS EXPIRE - notice in the picture...it tells me it is expiring soon, it doesn't tell me when but it's soon. Wrong business practice, just wrong. read more

Terrible experience this afternoon with Steve in the custom framing department Almost PAINFUL dealing with Steve....like pulling teeth to get him to offer ANY type of guidance...We had CUB World Series memorabilia...LOTS of it....he could have cared less what we had...couldn't get any type of comparable pricing...wouldn't VOLUNTEER...if it wasn't for my husband I would have told him off..instead we paid $161.33 to frame a precious momentous piece...I had plenty more.. This place is a joke. I ordered online and went for curbside pickup WHICH THEY OFFER. I followed the prompts in my email prior to coming and pulled up in the designated spot outside the store. After notifying them that I was there, I WAITED 15 minutes with NO ONE COMING OUT. I finally had to go inside and hunt an employee down to find out where my order was. Such a complete WASTE OF MY TIME. Why do they offer curbside pickup if no one comes out to bring the order???????? I will NEVER expect much of this pathetic store. Every now and then I need to go and pick up the DIY supplies for things for my classroom. As we all know, there are times when you need to get your hands on it to see if it will work or it is what you want. This Michaels is the closest to my house. There plenty of parking the people are helpful and kind the store is clean. Sounds all great, right? Here's the kicker, the lines are always so long. While I am NOT a fan of the 'burbs, man-o-man do I covet their shopping! You see, all I got near me to supply my creative urges is freakin' JoAnn Fabrics. Don't get me wrong...I'm glad to have that for the occasional crafty supply. But JoAnn is TOTALLY one of those places that tries to be too many things and ends up sucking at all of them. Stick 'em in a relatively small, high-rent urban location and you get the trifecta of crappy retail selection. I had previously thought that if I were gonna venture out to the 'burbs for inexpensive crafty fair that Hobby Lobby was my place. Fuck Hobby Lobby. If it's remotely possible for a craft supply store to have class, Michael's has it: a great selection of high-quality stuff at fair-to-low prices. On the other hand, this place is hideously dangerous...kinda like IKEA where everything is SO CHEAP that you don't think twice about throwing "it" into your cart and, before you know it, you're in the checkout line, cart full having nickel-and-dimed yourself to death. I have to tell you, this place knows everything you need to know about pulling it all together for the holidays. Whether in-home decorating or party planning, you can bet they have it. And the holiday stuff is always so insanely well organized. I've been planning a really big community event - my annual holiday house gathering, and I have to say they have everything a gal could want. This time of year they launch their holiday product line full price, and then when the sales hit the sales really hit! For the holidays, this is also great place to get your paper products for custom card-making. I come here anytime I need bulk notecards and envelopes. They have so many different package options to choose from, that it can make it a big challenging to choose - because I want them all. As far as decorations, you'll find anything and everything you need from faux trees, wreaths, ornaments, and their amazing selection of any kind of foam sticker you can imagine (50% off). Tip: Wait for the 50% off sale, because it's worth it. The wrapping paper, although the selection is nothing like you'll find at Target, is always 50% off. I needed some frame work done to a couple of canvases I ordered as well as a thinner type of art that I painted myself. I was looking on-line at different options and someone had told me that Michaels does framing for a great price. They sure do!! The canvases I brought in were 8x10 and .5 inches think, so for those, I just picked out frames that were ready to go. I decided to have one done there, and another frame I took home to do it myself. My only complaint is the sales person who was very helpful, rang up a different frame than I needed, so I needed to make a couple extra trips, but that's not a big deal. The cost to get the canvas put in by the staff was an extra $3, which is a great deal! You leave your info with them, they say it usually takes 1-3 business days depends on how busy they are, and they call you when it's ready. For $3, it is definitely worth it because they do a very clean and professional job and both times, my canvas was ready the very next day. The thinner painting I brought in took longer (around 2 weeks) because I picked out a custom frame. There are so many options to choose from, but the one I picked couldn't have been more perfect and it looks amazing. It did cost more, but that's a given. They have great prices and they always have coupons laying on the counter for frames or after you make a purchase. There is an entire two or three isles devoted to all types of cute frames as well as all kinds of posters and metal prints - good for gifts. for anyone on your list. I've only been to this Michaels for frame work, but the customer service has been great each time, and in the past month, I may have been there a good 4-5 times. My only complaint is that after 6 pm, there is only one person at the counter, so it does take some time before anyone gets to me, especially since it's not just a quick ring up at the register. I will def be back here for any frame work in the future... and probably sooner than later because I have a 16x20 waiting to be brought in. I recommend anyone who needs any kind of work done to check this place out first because it seems to a cheaper and better option than most other places i looked at. read more

I tend to agree with Ali's review about framing services. I had a coupon for a picture that I wanted to get framed, but really didn't want anything too special or to pay all that much. Well, when it was all said and done, I felt as if I had paid for a full service framing store. They did do a decent job, but I really didn't get the discount I had hoped to get. Every so often I will come in here for holiday décor items, frames, and mounting hardware. The wait is longer than it should be at the registers - it seems like there is always some issue with pricing/coupons and even if they call extra sales associates to come to the front, nobody ever comes. There are also very few people on the floor and the ones who *are* working never make eye contact and act like they just don't care or want to be there. The last time I was there, one of the associates was re-stocking the faux floral arrangements and was oblivious that her cart was blocking the aisle, so everyone was squeezing by and saying "excuse me" while she just stood there with a blank look on her face. The management is incompetent as every time I have witnessed some sort of customer complaint (which is pretty much every time I am there), they spew the typical "sorry" with a roll of the eyes. There's barely anyone here that would be able to help you. They don't care to really assist you, as the workers are very unhelpful. Recently I had a bad experience with them including a framing incident. My family gave them a square 4x4 carpet to frame, and we told them to be careful because it was old and important to us. I love Michael's for the strange little project I might have going on, or random creative urges I get to make something... with the 40% it is a real steal! I can get lost in the aisles thinking of projects I could be doing or getting inspired.... often I end up spending lots of money and not actually making or doing whatever I intend to do though. Great place for ribbons around the holidays and odds and ends for various projects. As for their framing services, definitely don't do it without a coupon. I also felt a little pressured to decide, we wanted to price out a project, and the woman behind the counter was most definitely not pleased so instead of dealing with her attitude, we just got our project done there. I generally prefer other frame stores, so we probably won't go back. With the 55% off coupon, I think the pricing is comparable to other frame stores, however, full price I'd neever in a million years get my stuff framed there. i am a arts and crafts junkie and i love the things they have in this store however, when i bought a picture frame the corner of it that was covered by cardboard was damaged i didn't know until after i got home, when i went the next day i returned it no problem and switched it out with another one on the shelf but before i drive home i opened it to discover that one was also damaged i notified the manager and she said they might all be damaged and kept them on the shelf for another poor customer to have the same problem as i did. and the employee attitude in the store as a whole was horrible like they didnt wanna be there.. read more
