VERY long experience cut short, as it is the customer service I want to report on. After 6 hours of sitting in the dealership, with my 2 year old son, as I was very serious about leasing a 2015 RAV4 for a certain price, but it ended up I had to purchase the RAV4 $100 more/month than I wanted to, I was forced to go home to get a check to complete the transaction, and on the way I began thinking about the deal, and came to the decision that I was not purchasing this car, it was not a good decision for me and my family, so I didn't go back that night to complete the transaction. The next afternoon, I text my salesperson, Jeremy Marlow, and this is the text messages that he sent me, with my responses. "Hey Jeremy, I'm sorry man I'm not purchasing the vehicle. I'm not in a place right now, financially, that I feel it's a good decision to do so. I came in go get my refund, and not Hadie, but the guy who I think was working on the deal yesterday and I came in and talked to him and got everything squared away, although when I told him it was a done deal and I was able to get in a CRV for my price point, with no money down and .25% interest because I have a relationship with Honda, there were just things you guys couldn't give to me, he really became a jerk. Which I wasn't too thrilled on, because you're an awesome guy and when I'm in a place to buy my next vehicle, and have real money to put down, I want to come back and work with you. But I don't want to be treated the way he did. But again, I'm sorry it didn't work out. But it was not because of you, you did perfect by me. It was on my side of things." - Me "Really?!?! Well thanks for not wasting my time. I turned three other car deals because I was working to help you. Well the reason he was upset is the same reason that I am really bummed. After we lose our whole day trying to get you where you want then you just bail on us after you said that if we can get to a certain price point you would take the car. The only reason everyone worked as hard as they did for you because I told him you were a single father with one source of income. It's just like spit in someone's face. You would be upset too if someone promised something and then didn't come through with it." - Jeremy "Alright never mind. I was trying to explain it to you, I'm not there buying a vehicle I wanted to lease it. It turned into something I didn't want, it changed every time we spoke, and I'll be sure to let everyone know how all of you truly treat customers. I didn't want to spend 6 hours of my day with my son in a dealership. Truth is, my co-signer made one call and got me into a CRV at my price point in 20 minutes over the phone. I walked in this morning signed the papers and left. Instantly gave me everything I wanted. So I no longer feel bad about yesterday. I really liked you, and expected you to say don't worry about it cause I told you I want to come back. Never coming back now this is ridiculous. I'm the customer, if I don't feel good about it I'm not going to do it. You all should have never let me leave the dealership, after you all told me I could drive off the lot that night with my car. So I don't feel any remorse. Have a Happy Holiday, again sorry it didn't work out." - Me "Please do tell everyone how I treated you and your family. I've treated you and your family with the upmost respect I've been 100% honest with you and have not done one thing that was dishonest, shady or unethical in anyway. And yes as a person I have the right to feel betrayed by you. I did everything within my power to help you your son and your family I got you and your son food, drinks, and toys. I even babysat him so you could fully understand the deal." - Jeremy "No at the dealership you didn't. That's what I was saying, you were amazing and honest, and I was telling my girlfriend about how awesome and great you were. But you lost it with your professionalism just now. In my work, I've had clients back out last minute. What you don't do, is blow up on them the way you did. It's unprofessional, rude and out of line. We do not have to continue this conversation because you are just putting yourself in a much dimmer light with what you're saying" - Me I will never, ever go to Dolan Toyota. I will never recommend family, friends, or a stranger to go there, because they pride themselves on customer service, and that is nowhere near customer service. Also - I received a pocket dial from someone at Dolan Toyota, speaking badly about customers, and giving each other tips on how to handle customers who get "too emotional", and it sounded like to me, to just lie to the customers about how certain people have good pull to get you the best deal. Just a horrible place, with not good people. I will be reporting this directly to Dolan Toyota, and maybe Toyota as a whole so they know what kind of people they have representing their brand. read more

I had the misfortune of dealing with the service department at Toyota in Reno, and I must say it was an absolute nightmare. If I could, I would give them zero stars for their appalling incompetence and disrespectful behavior. My experience with Emily, one of their staff members, was particularly infuriating and left me feeling disrespected and mistreated. To begin with, I brought my vehicle to Toyota for a repair, hoping for a smooth and efficient process. However, what followed was a series of frustrating events that showed a complete lack of professionalism and disregard for customer service. First, my children were made to wait for an agonizing three hours, only to be informed by Emily that the required part was not even available. It was an utterly frustrating and time-wasting experience, leaving my children bored and restless. What made matters worse was Emily's attitude throughout the ordeal. Instead of taking responsibility for the situation and offering a sincere apology, she acted as if it were my fault, shifting the blame and showing a complete lack of empathy. Her disrespectful demeanor and dismissive tone were completely uncalled for and only added to the frustration and disappointment. As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, especially when dealing with an inconvenience caused by the incompetence of the service department. Emily's behavior was unacceptable and reflected a clear lack of professionalism and customer-oriented mindset. Toyota as a whole needs to reevaluate their customer service practices and provide proper training to their staff. No customer should be subjected to such disrespectful treatment, especially when they are already facing the consequences of Toyota's own failures. I urge potential customers to think twice before trusting Toyota with their vehicle repairs. Based on my experience, they not only fail in providing competent service but also have employees like Emily who lack basic customer service skills and treat customers with contempt. In conclusion, my experience with Toyota's service department was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. The incompetence displayed, coupled with Emily's disrespectful behavior, left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. Subsequently, I took my vehicle to Les Schwab for an unrelated brake pad and rotor replacement. To my dismay, the Les Schwab technicians discovered and presented me with a video showing the subpar and shoddy workmanship of Toyota's CV boot repair. It was a clear indication that Toyota's technicians had failed to perform the repair correctly. When I approached Toyota to address the issue, I was met with a begrudging admission of their mistake. They acknowledged that the service was indeed performed incorrectly. This level of incompetence is unacceptable from a reputed dealership like Toyota and raises serious concerns about their quality control and attention to detail. It is essential for Toyota to understand the gravity of their shortcomings. Customers trust them with their vehicles and expect competent repairs. In this case, the CV axle boot replacement was not only performed incorrectly but also resulted in additional costs and inconvenience when I had to seek proper repairs elsewhere. I strongly caution potential customers against entrusting their vehicles to Toyota's service department. Three strikes and you're out Dolan Toyota Scion in Reno, NV! My problems with this dealership began when I brought my 2010 Tundra in for an alignment and general servicing back in February. They performed the alignment, did the scheduled maintenance for 60,000 miles and inspected the vehicle. I was told when I picked up the truck that it had a small oil leak around the dipstick that wasn't a big deal and would be an inexpensive fix that could be done later. While driving home from the dealership my check engine light came on. I checked the codes and was given the code for a small evap leak of the emission system and thought that I'd bring it back to Dolan to get it checked out. I couldn't get back down to Reno until April and by that time the alignment had started to drift. I scheduled an appointment on 4/16/2016 for diagnostics on the CEL and alignment. I was told that the driver side subframe tab for setting the alignment had been damaged, the carbon canister for the emission system had gotten water in it and would need to be replaced and the previously diagnosed minor engine oil leak was actually a major leak and could compromise the life of the truck's V8 engine with potential catastrophic failure. They quoted me about $2,000 dollars for the work and said they would set me up with a rental car for a week. They told me that the truck's warrantee had expired and I would have to pay for the work. While driving home I made some phone calls to 2 Toyota mechanics I know and to the dealership where I bought the Tundra. It turns out that the emission system work is covered under warrantee and the diagnosis of the CEL had probably been made based upon codes only and it was likely that the carbon canister was not even the problem. I turned around and brought back the rental and asked Bryan Bough, the Toyota maintenance associate I was working with, about the warrantee. He wouldn't answer me - instead he had someone get my truck. When I asked for the final estimate of costs for the work to be done, he flat out refused to give it to me. So the following week I get a call from the maintenance manager, who had heard about my situation, asking me to give them a second chance. He told me that if I returned he would make things right by taking care of the engine oil leak under the warrantee and fix my alignment. In the meantime I had cleared the codes for the check engine light and bought a new gas cap. After 100 miles and a dozen or so starts the CEL had not turned back on. I return to Dolan and am told that the emission system is fine. They agree to repair the seals causing the oil leak. BUT the alignment problem would involve replacing the subframe, requiring a body shop and cost of $4,100. I am told by Bryan Bough that the damage could only have been done by a mechanic applying too much force while adjusting the alignment. I ask about the alignment work done at Dolan Toyota 2 months ago back in February. I had been to no other shop and nobody had touched my truck between when I had the alignment work done in February and when I returned on 4/16. He denies the damage had been done there and recommends that I make a fraudulent insurance claim so the work can be paid for by my insurance company. I then make calls to the service manager who refuses to talk to me or return my messages. I make a formal complaint to Toyota USA who does nothing but forward my complaint to the dealership. I cannot believe that Toyota USA would not do more about my situation. SHAME ON YOU TOYOTA! This Tundra is the 4th Toyota that I have owned. I've spent over $100,000 on Toyota purchases in my lifetime. Toyota makes a quality product, but I will never purchase another Toyota! As to Dolan Toyota, I just hope anyone who reads this review to decide whether to make a purchase or have servicing work done here to know who and what they are dealing with. I recently had an overwhelmingly positive experience buying a new 4Runner from Dolan Toyota in Reno. First, some background: I had been looking for a certain set of features on the car. I wanted a specific color combination with no 3rd-row seat and no running boards. In northern CA (where I live), this particular build seemed to be hard to find. Each dealer I spoke with in my area gave me a different story. Some said they couldn't get it, others said they would have to build it custom. A few wanted me to cave and spend a couple extra thousand dollars on a similar car with features I didn't want or need. Enter Dolan Toyota: I gave this dealership a call and asked to see if they had the car I was looking for in stock. Turns out, they did. Next, I needed to figure out how to pick it up. Since I live four hours away from Reno and work all week, this easily could have turned into a logistical nightmare. Instead, the folks at Dolan worked with me and accommodated me to a level I would have never expected from a car dealership. I think that this story deserves telling. If you don't want to read a long review and are just interested in buying a new car, look no further and call Dolan. If you want to understand why I recommend them so highly, read on. Before purchasing the vehicle, I was driving a 2-week loaner my employer had set up to ease my transition into the area. Initially, my plan had been to drive that car to Reno after work, pick up the 4Runner, and drive the new car back to CA. I soon realized that this would be an incredible hassle. More importantly, I wasn't sure I would make it from CA to Reno in time for the dealership to still be open. I gave Zac from Dolan a call to explain my predicament. We brainstormed over the phone for a bit. I wanted to buy the car. They wanted to sell the car. The only issue was how to get me to the dealership after work. Zac spent some of his day off helping me figure this situation out. We brainstormed several plans: One plan involved giving me some wiggle room on their closing time in order to accommodate afternoon traffic from CA. Another involved some folks from Dolan meeting me in between CA and Reno with the vehicle and the paperwork in order to make the drive possible. The plan we arrived at involved a quick flight to Reno in the early evening before driving the car home. I was amazed that Zac offered to pick me up from the Reno airport after my flight. I was even more amazed that when it came time to sign the financial documents, the folks at Dolan had discounted the cost of my flight from the vehicle. When I got to the Dolan dealership, I couldn't have asked for a friendlier and smoother experience. There was no nonsense here. Zac showed me the vehicle and pointed out a few lesser known features that he liked about it. Next, Danny helped me with the financial documents. After the paperwork was done, Zac introduced me to Allison who spent some time teaching me the inner workings of the vehicle. All three treated me like a person and not just a customer that they wanted money from. The drive home went smoothly and I got a text the next morning from Zac asking if I had made it home safely. If you live in the Reno area, I imagine you are already familiar with the high caliber of service you will find at Dolan. If you don't, but live in a 400-mile radius, you should still know about them. My husband and I were looking to buy a new truck and were really looking at the 2016 Tacoma's. I had called the day before to schedule the appointment for 12:30 and to our surprise unlike many other dealers that we have dealt with in the past, there was actually someone there waiting for us when we arrived. The gentleman that drew the short straw and ended up with us was Brian Bowley , Let me just say that Brian was Amazing! He didn't pressure us in anyway, he then proceeded to show us many of the Tacoma's (couldn't make up our mind) Then showed us a 2016 Tundra and all I can say is bye bye Tacoma and HELLO Tundra! that was it, we were sold...It was love at first sight! Because we were taking sooo long to make up our mind Brian had another appointment scheduled so he introduced us to Zac Barrett. So now it was up to Zac to patiently wait for us to make up our mind as to what color and so on. Poor Zac, lol he really took one for the team dealing with us as we had changed our minds on color, seats etc,...many times. However Zac was the most amazing car salesman that we has ever dealt with and that is saying a lot! Zac made sure by time we left Toyota dealership with were 100% satisfied. Zac made sure that the whole process was as smooth and painless as possible. In fact everyone that we had encountered that day was amazing. I also want to give a thumbs up to Jeremy Parkes the finance manager that did the financing and got us the amazing interest rate. Not only did he gt us the amazing interest rate but he also explained everything in detail and made sure we understood everything before we signed without pressuring us to buy more stuff like most finance guys do. Now I know this is long winded but I have just one more thing to add.,,, The day that we had purchased the truck we had a few extras added to it, running boards being one of them. We came back the following week, which was 3/20/16 to have them installed and to our amazement Zac came over several times to sit and talk with us while we waited. He made sure we had plenty to drink and great conversation. Both my husband and I were in total shock! Typically once you purchase the vehicle, that's it..their job is done and never hear from them again. I am giving Dolan Toyota one start as there is no option for zero stars. I purchased a brand new 4Runner from Dolan less than a year ago... With that being said, I am sure that you can imagine my surprise when the passenger side window started making a clunking noise a few days ago. I said, "oh well" and dropped my sweet charcoal grey gremlin off at Dolan for a little weekend warranty work. While there, I asked them to take a look at the front right fender flair that appeared to be lifting from the fender. Just a few short hours later I received a call from my service manager. He informed me that a component related to the window had come loose, and that they had fixed it at no charge. They also informed me that a clip had broken from the fender flair, which would cost roughly 200.00 plus the cost to paint the part. I was annoyed, but didn't necessarily blame Dolan for the issue. They also informed me that the right rear shock was leaking, but that it wasn't "bad enough" to warranty out. I informed the gentleman that I had a 1,200 mile road trip planned just a few days later, but much to my surprise, he said there was nothing he could do. Oh well. I picked up my 4Runner and off I went. Manifest Destiny... I pointed my car west and headed for the hills. Everything was going great until I stopped for gas about two hours outside of Reno, NV. My significant other tried to open the passenger side door.... nothing. "Weird. The door must be locked." I thought to myself. Unlocked it and tried again, nothing. The technician didn't put my door back together correctly... I don't know if you have ever driven 1,200 miles with a door that didn't function... It's not fun. But shit happens right?! We arrived in LA later that day. It was a beautiful sunny day, about 90 degrees if I remember correctly. I figured, since it's so nice, we should roll down the windows and have a little fresh air..... CLUNK, is what came out. So not only did the technician not put the door back together right, he didn't fix the window either. Ok, great. Later that day we were driving down the 405 when we started to hear this loud squeal. We pulled over to find that right rear shock that Dolan refused to replace was making a horrendous noise. Shocker, right?! Overall, Dolan Toyota met my expectations, which was as low as low could get. I think that Dolan Toyota is most likely the worse dealership you could purchase a vehicle from. I've giving myself some time to really think of my experience with Dolan. I have purchase 2 cars with them and until recently I have had the worst experience ever. I bought a 2020 Highlander in 2020 and according to them I bought the bumper to bumper coverage when I bought the car. My Highlander was making some noises so I called in and spoke to a representative who told my about the bumper to bumper coverage I had and that it would cover my appointment to get it check or fixed. I take it in and when I was checking In the agent told me about a $165 charge to get it check I told him no that is incorrect for I have the bumper to bumper coverage where he says let me check on that. He goes through he's device and says "yes I see that coverage" so he has me sign and I'm on my way. I left my car at 7:30am and at around 4 pm I get a call from one of there staff saying there is nothing wrong with my car and that I owe the fee since they didn't find anything wrong with it and can't get processed through the warranty. I explained the situation to him where he tells me that fee can't and won't be waived due to them checking my car. So I ask to speak with a manager. He tells me the manager isn't available at the moment but would call me. (I'm at work) so the manager calls me 5 minutes before the service department closes and of course I miss efe call. The manager sends me an email and leaves a vm telling me that I would have to pay the fee. By this time I'm so upset and over the whole situation I ask my husband to pick up my car. My husband shows up and they tell him they don't know where my vehicle is and they don't have the keys. (They gentlemen helping him was ver nice and for that I gave them2 stars) They call around and the manager calls me and tells me that the reason my keys are not there is because I haven't paid. It's says on the link he sent a me CASH ONLY! It was all crazy and absolutely ridiculous! Never once was apologized for all what happened and having to wait 1hr to find my car keys/ car and having to pay a fee I was never advised of but of their way of getting out of everything ,"but you signed for it." Just be careful and make sure to get a clear answer of what your paying before you sign. read more

I am writing to share my experience with Dolan Toyota, and unfortunately, it has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. In February 2025, I purchased a brand-new 2025 TRD Pro Tacoma. Within the first week, I noticed a strong vibration above 60 mph and brought it back immediately. Over the next 10 months, I returned multiple times for the same issue. Each visit resulted in a different guess, floor mats, then a tire replacement, but no real fix. I repeatedly requested an alignment and proper diagnosis, yet no one could even confirm if an alignment had been performed. I was consistently told "this is how the truck is supposed to perform," which made no sense for a $68,000 vehicle. I've owned performance vehicles, including a Nissan GTR, and none behaved like this. Meanwhile, loaner Tacomas I drove performed significantly better than my own truck. Another concern was transparency. My truck was often kept for about a week, but paperwork reflected only 1 to 2 days in service. This happened multiple times and raises serious concerns about record accuracy. Eventually, a service advisor pointed out abnormal tire wear and asked who did the alignment. Ironically, Dolan Toyota was the last to service it. Later, after a tire blowout, I replaced all four tires and had an alignment done at Les Schwab, where they immediately found the alignment was significantly off. This confirmed the issue had not been properly handled from the beginning. During my last visit, I dealt with ANDREW LOPEZ, who was extremely unprofessional. He denied missing my calls despite having my messages, refused a ride-along, and dismissed my concerns. Service Manager PETER ORLINSKI also provided inconsistent information and did not seem fully aware of my case. I also escalated this to Toyota corporate and requested a buyback under lemon law concerns, but was repeatedly told the truck is "operating as designed." After 10 months, the issue was never properly resolved. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and repeated dismissal of legitimate concerns is unacceptable. I cannot recommend Dolan Toyota and will not be returning. read more

There are so many moving parts in the car buying process that, when dealing with a dealership, each one should be viewed in isolation. From the first, the salesmen Ryan Braun and Casey White, showed me all of the models in which I had interest. I explained I was just doing research, but they gave me as much attention as if I already had my check book out. I left without getting the typical "never let them leave the lot" pressure commonly found. I came back when I had decided to go with a Toyota. On returning, Casey and Ryan continued their excellent service, taking the time to look at an outright purchase of a 2012 or a lease of a 2013, taking me on multiple test drives and all without ever pressuring the sale. Even at the end of the experience, they made sure I was familiar with every aspect of the car. I would recommend anyone in the market for a Toyota ask for these gentlemen by name. After choosing a model, the process brought in Mark Miller, who was very accommodating as the sales manager. He ran the numbers on multiple scenarios, and presented me with myriad choices. I decided on the lease option, and Mark was very clear on explaining it. I may not have gotten the very best deal, but I feel comfortable with the lease payments. I was highly motivated to purchase from the Dolan family for all that they do for education in the area, working for a school that has greatly benefited from their generosity. After a deal was reached, I worked with Jeremy Parke, who was efficient and amiable. He answered my questions thoroughly. I was really impressed when, upon further consideration that evening, I regretted pre-paying for a mechanical work option. I went back to the dealer and the finance director, Richard Gardner, listened to my concerns and without hesitation accommodated my request when such was not required and which would not have happened in every dealership. Overall, I had already experienced the great customer service at their service center, but found an equal level of service from their sales team. My son and I recently visited Dolan Reno Toyota to help him purchase his first car. We had a positive experience with the salesperson, but unfortunately, that changed when we were transferred to the finance department. Despite having a pre-approved loan from his personal bank and a significant down payment prepared, the finance department heavily pressured us to use their financing options. While we appreciate their efforts, we had already secured a favorable rate with our bank. Further frustration arose when we discovered the dealership's limit on debit card transactions. Since our down payment exceeded that limit, we needed to wait for the bank to open on Monday to adjust the loan amount. The entire paperwork process took an unreasonable amount of time, and it felt like a tactic to pressure us into their financing. Despite declining their offers, we remained courteous and persistent in using our pre-approved loan. On Monday, when contacting the finance department to request additional paperwork, we encountered a particularly unhelpful individual named Steve Umpress. Despite our request to have the paperwork emailed for efficiency, Steve insisted my son come to the dealership in person. This unnecessary inconvenience cost my son valuable time. Even when my son arrived, Steve Umpress showed a complete lack of customer service. He refused a simple request to scan the paperwork for faster transmission to the bank, stating "'Just bring me the money and you can get the car.'" The entire experience left us feeling disrespected and frustrated. We understand dealerships aim to offer financing options, but this experience went beyond that. We were prepared to pay the full asking price for the car and had secured our own financing. I am sorry I have to be writing this because I don't really like to complain. I have been taking my truck there for service for just under 14 years now and been disappointed a time or two but nothing too major. Today is a totally different story. I had an appointment for an oil change and had received a recall for the spare tire holder so I asked them to take a look at it. He said that would take 15 minutes. In total my appointment he said would take an hour and a half. We waited patiently as it's comfortable in their waiting room. Two hours later we still hadn't heard from anyone so we went to ask. Found a nice service adviser and he looked it up.He said, "it looks like it is done but there are a few issues." What! It was just an oil change, so he took us to the guy that was supposed to call us. He says, "Didn't you get my email?" This is where it started getting weird because they don't have my email address. Then it was oh I was just about to call you. Then he says they have my car torn apart because the check engine light was on. (it's been on for going on 4 years now) so that's what I told him. Then he says you need a new windshield and windshield wipers etc.... I didn't really care because I already new all that and just wanted my oil changed. And he says that they haven't changed the oil yet. WHAT??? Oh that will be another 45 minutes. I was really upset by this point because this is the only place that I have been taking my truck for the last 14 years so all he had to do was look on his computer to see all of this but just kept saying that we have to check all this or else we can't let you drive out of here. He just kept telling lie after lie and excuses instead of just admitting that he messed up. I told him I did not authorize any of this so I didn't understand what was going on. I just want my truck back, I didn't even get my oil changed. I also live an hour away so THANKS FOR NOTHING! The one star is just because the one service guy took the time to help. read more
