While there were other repair recommendations absolutely no pressure on getting these done. We especially liked the video recap on what was done and actual pictures of the concerns noted. Time was an issue for us so we didn't do the rest of the repairs but they are valid. We would consider returning for service of our Mazda. read more

I recently was in a traumatic car accident that left the only car available to my wife and I totaled. We only had a rental car available through insurance for a short time, so we quickly had to figure out what we were going to do vehicle-wise with an extremely limited budget due to the unexpected nature of our situation. We came to this Mazda location to see if they could help us. When we arrived, we were left to just sort of wander around aimlessly for about 20 minutes before any employees approached us. Eventually we were approached by an individual named Jesus who I believe is a salesperson. He asked what we were looking for and we explained our situation to him, at which point he went to grab some keys so we could test drive a vehicle. We waited outside in the sun for about 15 minutes before Jesus returned with the with the keys to a vehicle that he then informed us had no gas, then left to go get the keys to a different vehicle. After about another 15 minutes Jesus returned with the keys and sent us on our way on a test drive. The vehicle was very nice but also was quite low on fuel so we were slightly concerned. After a short test drive, we returned, and Jesus finally took us inside. He then wandered around for about 10 minutes informing us that he couldn't find his laptop. He eventually found it and asked us what sort of deal we were looking for. With our situation being a unique one, we didn't want to play any negotiation games, so we told him outright exactly what we could put down and the absolute maximum monthly payment we could handle. He nodded and smiled at this and said he would go and run it by his manager. After about 15 minutes, Jesus returned with his manager who I believe was named Alex. Alex showed us a breakdown of the lease they could offer us. Essentially, if we put down the money that we had available, our payment would be over double what we could afford, or we could put down over four times the amount we had available for a down payment and get the monthly payment we were looking for. Despairing at this point, we told Alex that this was way above our budget, but we appreciated him taking the time. He then decided for some reason to rub salt in the wound saying "yeah that's just not what a car payment looks like these days. That's a phone payment or an internet payment." The monthly payment we were looking for was around $300 which to me sounds like quite the "internet payment," but maybe I'm mistaken. I'm not sure why Alex found it necessary to denigrate us for being in a compromised financial position, but it left us feeling quite hopeless and insulted. I would highly discourage anybody who is hoping to be treated with dignity and respect from shopping for a vehicle at this dealership. On a positive note, we drove to the Subaru dealership afterwards and were treated wonderfully. They got us in a brand-new vehicle with exactly the deal we were looking for, so there was a happy ending. read more

We purchased a brand-new Kia Carnival and added the ResistAll protection package. Within 48 hours of taking delivery, we noticed significant spotting, discoloration, and fading-like marks on multiple exterior plastic trim pieces, along with visible streaking/discoloration on the rear bumper trim. We immediately brought the vehicle back to the dealership. We were told the issue would be corrected and later received a call that the vehicle was ready for pickup. When we arrived that evening, the condition had not been corrected, so we left the vehicle with the dealership again. The following day, we received another call stating the repairs were complete. Once again, the issue was still present. The dealership ultimately kept our brand-new vehicle for nearly six weeks attempting to address the problem. After finally getting the vehicle back, the trim and bumper issues still had not been resolved. What was most frustrating was the inconsistent explanations. We were told that ResistAll had not been applied to the exterior plastic trim, yet the dealership attempted multiple repairs to remove or correct the condition. We were also told the streaking on the rear bumper was simply "how they are." The attached photos show a vehicle that was purchased new from the lot. We were patient throughout the process, gave the dealership multiple opportunities to correct the issue, and were without our new vehicle for an extended period of time. After nearly a month and a half in their possession, we expected either a successful repair or a meaningful resolution. Unfortunately, neither occurred. Do NOT buy a used vehicle from Dolan, do NOT purchase the $4k warranty, as they do not service said warranty... I've driven my used vehicle less than 2k miles since purchase. I have no A/C, no service record, and no recourse! I now have to pay out of pocket, after having A/C charged, somewhere else to have my car serviced. This review is for their service department. I've been bringing my Mazda CX-9 here for regularly scheduled maintenance for around three years now or so, and they've really dropped the ball the last few times. The first issue was that about a year ago, I got my car back and they did something totally weird to the driver's side armrest. It had three major indentations in it, like they rested something very heavy on it. I should have called them immediately, but I was leaving for vacation and by the time I got back, I just let it slide. But the arm rest remains lumpy and uncomfortable. My fault though for not calling em' on it as soon as I saw the damage. The second time, however, was just last week and boo on them again. Did the comprehensive service where they inspect everything and perform what needs to be done. The work costs a ton, they're very expensive but I like my car and trusted them. Anyway, two weeks after the service, the red engine coolant light comes on. I call Mazda, they say don't drive it, have the car towed in immediately and they can have it repaired in five weeks, as that's their next opening. That's obviously not going to work, so I search the web. Turns out, there really wasn't an issue, save for the fact that the engine coolant reservoir was completely empty! I ran down to AutoZone, bought a $10 bottle of coolant and refilled it. It's not leaking, there's no crack. They simply forgot to check the coolant and let it run out. Well, damn...that's what I'm paying you guys big bucks (like at least $280 per service, often much more) to do. And you fail at this one simple task and still have the nerve to say my car can't be addressed for another month and a half?!? No f'ing way. Off to find another shop here in town that actually cares for their customers. read more

I am able to have updates, pay on line and good honest communication regarding my repairs, invoices and all other things needed to keep my car in good shape. Trudy was really helpful in getting me all I needed since my car required an overnight stay. I have never really had a bad experience with either Trudy or Steve. read more

Bought a car this weekend from Dolan Mazda in Reno! Outstanding service and didn't take all day like some dealers. We had the best salesmen Parker and Kai!! They did everything to make the purchase quite painless and fun. Also Benjamin in finance was great as well. All in all a wonderful experience. Parker even brought to my work a pair of Disney Ray Bans I had left in my trade in. Honest and a joy to work with him! We will do business with them again. We love our new car!! Mazda sold us a Lemon. We bought a new 2024 Mazda CX-90 around a year ago. It has a bunch of recalls. We took it in and they said they fixed it. 1 month later and check engine light is back on. They can't look at it and scheduled us 1 month out. I was going to trade it in but found out in 1 year it has lost over 33% of its value. I am now upside down on my loan that I pay $850 per month on. I was about to call Mazda service department to tell the service manager what a horrible experience I had getting my "under warranty" oil change, tire rotation and fluids checked. After reading these reviews, I see it would be useless and the best I can do is warn others about buying from Dolan Mazda. I was told the oil change would take 2 hours (1:00-3:00pm). At the 2 hour mark, Aaron comes over to tell me the mechanic hurt his hand and he just found out about it now!! They are trying to get another person in to finish the job. REALLY? Like, there's only one mechanic working? There were no other customers the whole time!! The place was pretty empty. So Aaron tells me that it's going to be around another hour. What can I do? Do I even have a choice?! After an hour (4:00pm now) Aaron comes back to let me know it SHOULD be ready soon. I tell him I have to be somewhere at 5:00pm and it takes 30 minutes to get there. I wasn't expecting to be there all day. When it was finally ready. I think Aaron knew that I wasn't happy. So when he told me my Mazda was looking really good. That set me off. Why wouldn't it be in good shape? I have had it for one year and it's only got 5k miles on it!! Please don't patronize me!! He thanks me and starts to leave without giving me my keys! And then I had to come back inside to get something to wipe the BLACK FINGER smudges off both front seats of the WHITE leather! I get inside to find the seat position was still way back and the radio was on (I had it off on purpose). Dolan Mazda is the worse service I have ever received. I would not have bought this car if I knew what I was going to have to deal with. And I see addressing this with their service manager, if there is one, would get me nowhere. Our buying experience was 5 stars, however service is a pain- probably the worst I've experienced. Every time I go in for just an oil change, the price goes up significantly and while they quote "inflation," I understand a reasonable increase not double. My last advisor was Steve and he had been difficult to deal with. This time, I had Aaron, so I had hoped I wouldn't get an outrageous invoice. I was wrong- my estimated invoice was almost $200. When I questioned why my last oil change came out to a little over $100, he said prices went up. Then I showed him a coupon for $79.95 and all of a sudden, he was able to make that price happen and thanked me for bringing the coupon in. Such fishy business. We've had several other brand cars (Toyota, Subaru, and Lexus) and always have them serviced at the dealership but have never dealt with such a scam. read more

I live in Las Vegas NV. We normally have our 2024 Mazda serviced in Las Vegas with wonderful results. My daughter attends UNR and I thought it would be a good precaution to have the car serviced before driving home for the summer. I called to make an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. The first red flag was the service scheduler could not give me a price, he said "he didn't know". I was assured Steve or Erin from service would call me to discuss service and prices. I booked the appointment and waited for their call. Of course they never called me... My daughter took the car in on our scheduled day and met with a very unpleasant Steve. He told her $202.00 for an oil change and tire rotation. My daughter is sharp and knew this was excessive and out of line. In Las Vegas this same service is $99.00! She called me on speaker phone and I asked Steve if he knew why the price was so high there. He basically said he didn't care or know. Needless to say my daughter took her car and we will service in Las Vegas. I will not take our Mazda to this dealership for any reason. They do not return calls, they are rude in person, and they are incredibly expensive for basic service. read more

I will start out by mentioning that I did not buy my 2018 Mazda 3 from Dolan but rather from a dealership in Sacramento (see my previous review for details on my buying experience). I have been underwhelmed with the service department when it comes to my Mazda 3. I reached out via telephone once to inquire about my rear window defroster seemingly not working properly. After being told I'd have to come in for a diagnostic before I could receive a quote, I Googled that the "problem" with my rear defroster was not actually a problem. It was my radio antennae! After that disappointing experience I refrained from returning for a couple years, but I brought in my car for a replacement car seat cover. A seam was torn, and it was covered under my warrantee. I had an alright experience with Steve as he communicated clearly throughout the waiting game of submitting for approval on the warrantee repair to corporate Mazda and of waiting for the part to arrive in a very backlogged supply chain. Flash forward to my next oil change--I figured I'd give the dealership another go. Pretty disappointing experience. The communication that I'd experienced with Steve previously must not be a standard across the department. I had to read the service quote myself and interpret all of the line items (good thing I had my husband to help me interpret some of the abbreviations). Ultimately, the check up was about $400 for an oil change and tire rotation and inspections. I was fine paying such a high price thinking that my car would be handled by the "Mazda experts" so to speak. However, less than 24 hours later one of my tires had lost a substantial amount of pressure. Upon my own inspection, the valve stem had a leak somewhere and was audibly leaking air at the slightest touch. I called the service department and left a voicemail after hours, then called again mid-morning on their next business day since I hadn't heard back. The person I spoke with didn't really seem to care much and simply restated that my car had received an oil change, tire rotation, and key fob battery. No offer to get my vehicle in to inspect the tire or anything. Honestly, not the worst experience possible, but at that price point I really expect to feel a little bit more customer care from the service department. I won't be returning unless I have warrantee or recall work to be completed. read more

Three years living in Reno, I always need a nap after getting work done at Dolan. They're exhausting, even before you get in the door to have your vehicle worked on. Let me preface with some of the previous visits before concluding with this week's quasi-entertaining final straw. - basic service is expensive, and their prices aren't listed anywhere. That alone should tell you something. No upfront costs. - per the dealer cliché, they are always trying to upsell. I change my own air filters, but when I last brought my vehicle in, they suggested I get my filters changed. I literally did that the day before, so either they didn't even bother to look at them before making their recommendation, or they looked and hoped that I wouldn't know the difference. Probably a standing order in their office: always recommend to change air filters!!! Would you like fries with that?? - communication is horrible, the latest example is seen below. - you never see them do the actual work, so 0% transparency. They said I needed a belt replaced, which I agreed to, but I asked to see the old one so I could understand why. They said sure. But then, that mechanic had gone home for the day, what a coincidence, so they couldn't find my belt to show. How about that. - I decline the free car wash because it always comes back with dirt and soap streaks all over the back. Sometimes free costs you more time than it's worth, but it tells you a little more about their attention to detail. - contrast this and more with the Vegas Mazda dealer where I bought my CX5, where I have always been happy with their service, and who 3yrs later still call and email me with updates on my vehicle's needs and offers for service. So it's not MAZDA...it's this Dolan service department, which I see gets other negative reviews on the regular. Finally, here is this week's final straw: I was calling to make a reservation for routine service (oil change, tire rotation, etc.). I contact Reception, because in any other business in existence, Reception is where you make appointments. Instead, reception transfers me to their Service Department. Service answers. "Oh, you need our Scheduling Department." Good lord. They transfer me to "Scheduling." It rings and rings. Finally someone answers, the third person I've been in contact with since beginning this stupid game of tag. How do they answer? "Hello?" the most bored semi-Roz from MonstersInc voice ever. No name, no department ID. So I respond in kind, "yes? hello?" Whoever it is gives an odd chuckle, like they're in on some game that I'm not aware I'm playing, and they ask, "what number are you calling from?" I give up. I tell them I've been kicked around 3 different times while trying to make a routine oil change appointment, and it concluded with this unprofessional chuckle, no identification or greeting, and a bizarre question; exasperated, I'll take my business elsewhere. I suspect they don't know how their phones work and so the person answering assumed I was a coworker calling from another department. Perhaps the Department of Departments under Departments? Anyway, that's that. I went elsewhere for my oil change and tire rotation. Saved a lot of money and hassle in the process. I'm sure I'll have to go back to the dealer at some point for some thing, but hopefully it won't be anytime soon. Do better, Dolan. read more

Recently serviced my vehicle and had an appraisal done to assess the resale value, Dolan gave me a number that is a 50% depreciation on my car after 1 year of ownership, I do have high mileage and didn't think too much of the appraisal, until taking it to other dealers and was offered 7-9k more for my car. Dolan Mazda has maintained my 2020 Mazda 3 since I bought it used. I have been very happy with their service until yesterday when I called in to get an appointment to have my regular oil change. I was informed that the first appointment that was available for an oil change was in October! That's a 6 week wait, which is just ridiculous. This begs the question, how could I possibly buy my next Mazda at this dealership if they will not be available to maintain the car after purchase. This is a warning for anyone that's thinking of buying the *new* 2021 red Mazda3 sedan that's up for sale now. 1) When I scheduled a virtual seeing, the salesman was missing the keys. He said the truck that brought the cars didn't have the keys for this one. But later it was revealed the car was sold to someone before and the loan fell through, thus the car was repossessed. 2) This leads me to believe the car was repossessed with a towing truck(as it's missing keys) instead of the more favorable story I heard about the car being brought back to the dealership by the person that tried to buy it. It's your call to believe which story. 3) This car can be considered *used* despite the salesman repeating the word 'new'. It reportedly has ~2500 miles on it unlike advertised online(41 miles) and Carfax already shows 1 owner. It's only *new* by the definition of not being registered(allegedly) and being the current model year. They tried to sell me the car for slightly above its MSRP including the cheap add ons and doc fee. So there wasn't much of a discount either after all these things were revealed. I was at first told that the car doesn't have Carfax since it's new, but I noticed 8 records after copying the VIN from the Dolan Mazda website to Carfax. I don't have the confidence to go check out the car. Do it at your own risk. read more

A VW Tiguan had popped up at this location so we made an appointment 24 hours in advance to test drive the car and when we got there the next day we were informed the car had been sold that morning. Common, we made an APPOINTMENT to test drive this car!!! Just call/email to tell us it's no longer on the lot! And since it was the only Tiguan it wasn't like there was another one sitting around for us to drive. Because we had an appointment, I expect there to be effective communication to take place if the product in which the appointment is for is no longer available! In addition, confirmation email didn't specify to go to the Kia side so we were standing in the Mazda lobby trying to make eye contact with any adult while associates walked past us and didn't acknowledge us (awkward!) We thought, well ok let's try the Kia building and you guessed it, THIS is where reception is located (who knew?! Not us since that detail was left out). Facility was clean so gave some stars for that. read more

If you call to make an appointment the person you're talking to has zero knowledge about pricing or how long the service will take. Both of these questions are what I consider to be normal questions when scheduling any service. I had a very poor experience yesterday, unfortunately. I test drove their 2016 Mazda 6 manual with the salesman, then spent a half hour afterwards in the manager's office, going over the CarFax and service records of the car. I clearly expressed interest in the car, asked the manager about the cabin noise to which he said their tech can look at it right after his lunch. I said that at most I might ask for consideration in the price for needing to fix the cabin noise and touch up some chips on the front. I expressed again that I am serious about the car, exchanged phone numbers with the salesman, asked to be contacted about it and that I might just want to have my mechanic look at it quick as well, all of which they both indicated that was fine. There was a brief mention that their Fernley store had called, but no other follow up had happened from that store. I did not hear anything right away, so I texted the salesman a couple hours later to check in and reemphasize our interest, and then called an hour later as well, but no return call. A half hour later, the salesman texted back that they could not a tech to look at it and that Fernley had picked it up as soon as I left. After further probing, he told me that Fernley had sold it but they have plenty of other cars, and this after telling him I had set up the appointment with my mechanic for the next morning. And even after replying to the salesman that I was disappointed by the experience, I got no further reply. Trust is a critical part of the customer relationship, and this was all too casually tossed aside in this experience. Had I known that Fernley was coming for it, I would likely have put money down to hold the car while ironing out the rest of the details. read more

DONT GO HERE. The girl on the phone first time was so rude. Not helpful what so ever. They are booked out till march and don't have cancellations apparently. Couldn't even help to get me in for a quick oil change. And on top of that was rude: I ended up taking my car to Roseville Mazda! Was a beautiful Hour and half drive and it was WORTH it! They set an appointment up with me and I called two days before. So more; attentive; and all around care about Mazda drivers. I bought my car for 40,000$ and I choose to take it to Mazda for a reason. I will never ever ever go to reno Mazda again and I'll tell all my fellow Mazda friends don't as well. Classic service department runaround to avoid doing under-warranty work. I love my '21 CX-5, and I wanted to love this little Reno dealer. The newest Mazdas are very thoughtfully designed, and offer an excellent build quality relative to their price. Mazda is building cars differently (and better) than many other makes -- and I really hoped that different, "bucking the trend" approach would translate to their service departments. Sadly, it does not. I took my 12k-mile car in for some small issues, things that really shouldn't need fixing at such low mileage but I was sure the service team would sympathize and take care of them as the car is still well under warranty. Not the case. The service department here will instead give their own interpretation of your warranty and find reasons why none of your issues are covered. Chip in the camera lens of your 1-year old car? They agree it should be covered, but HQ won't approve it. Constant interior squeak? Oh, those are only covered until 10k miles (conveniently not explained in warranty documentation). But we'll diagnose it for $150 if you'd like! When questioning these responses, I was met with explanation of how their mechanics are paid. As the customer, I don't care about how you run your business... I just bought a $40k car that already has issues and I want them fixed under the warranty that my salesman waxed poetic about. Even better was the mechanic's interpretation of my unstable driver's seat back. "It's supposed to be loose, so you don't snap a bolt." HUH?! So my seat is supposed to feel like a rocking chair? All in all, this service department seems incapable of understanding where the customer is coming from. They're uninterested in providing a good customer experience and are rather focused on dodging work. read more

Somehow the navigation chip got removed, physically from my car. $400 to replace that part that their staff stole. Terrible customer service because they won't even attempt to make it right. We bought two Mazda's from Dolan Mazda and had a great experience! The sales and finance team are great! However, on the flip note, the SERVICE DEPARTMENT needs serious customer service training or employees that want to work with the public. The first 5K service was standard and nothing to brag about. Fast forward to the 10K service, we dropped off one of our Mazda's, and the reception/service girl has no customer service skills whatsoever! Wow! We have had our dealings with her previously, and gave her some slack (perhaps a bad day), but nothing has changed with her skills. My husband comes from 38 years of managing car dealerships and I have previous experience with customer service in the retail business and she NEVER made eye contact. She has no customer service skills whatsoever and honestly, should be in a filing room FILING by herself! The other service writer next to her, has no customer service skills either. My husband tried to have a conversation with him, yet he never looked up from his computer. I am sorry - but are we bothering you both with our business? This review on Dolan Mazda covers both sales department and subsequently the Service Department. We were in the market for a new SUV starting in November of 2019. I had narrowed my research down to a 2019 Mazda CX-5 Diesel. I went to Dolan, even though their ratings were bad as i figured it would make things simple if I could buy local. The first salesman wanted me to sign a commitment to buy the vehicle before he would even bring a vehicle in from another dealership for me to look at and drive. I left in disgust after telling him he was crazy. So I started shopping in Cali. Dolan dealership's first mistake. I believe in giving people a second chance so after getting certified sale prices from Roseville, Sacramento and Marin Mazda in San Fran I took the offers to Dolan's Sales manager, told him of my previous dealings with one of their salesman and he assured me he would beat the prices given in Cali. I was in contact with Dolan's sales manager via email, so I gave him Marin's final price. I got nothing back from him. I sent numerous more emails to him and attempted to reach him by phone. Nothing. What a pussy, if he couldn't beat the price, grow a set of balls and tell the customer so, and say we are still here to service your new car after your purchase when ready. Not done, but I still go to Dolan for the first service. In setting it up I told them repeatedly it's a diesel, please ensure you have the filters on hand. Nope, the did not have them on hand, had to reschedule. After reschedule I notice oil is spilled everywhere. Second service, same thing, I tell them the difficulty I had the first time. The car goes in and what do you know, no air filter. Dolan listed it on the paper work, but I left without the filter and they said they would order it. So when it does come in they want me to waste another day with them. I tell the to mail it to the address on file. Vanessa tells me the factory doesn't allow them to do that. Ok, for the sake of argument let's believe that's true. Does the factory know everything you mail out from your dealership? I as a leader would have said screw the factory, we have already jerked the customer around two times in a row, get the customer the part. Nope, instead I had to go and pick it up anyways. Oh yea, let's not forget that oil is spilled everywhere again, and also over filled. Now comes the third service. I would not blame anyone for calling me an idiot for going back. I tell them about the oil sensor and the idiot light that came on stating oil filled too high. Please check the oil sensor to see why it didn't come on to start with as the oil was physically checked and was indeed too high. I also tell them I want a alignment. Car was done quickly, but I would be embarrassed at its condition with oil spilled for a third time all over, alignment not done, oil sensor not checked and Vanessa's lies on why it wasn't done. Her obvious lie was that they couldn't check the sensor because the tech had already drained the oil. Yup, that was her response. I will never ever set foot on your property again. The say that three times a charm. Well over three times Dolan has been given the chance to right this sinking ship with me. No wonder why there are so many bad reviews. They are playing Reindeer Games at Dolan Mazda We were returning customers, looking to replace our 2014 Grand Touring CX-5 with the same model/features but new. We found 3 of them on their front lot, 2021 "new" or leftover, in the color we wanted. Monday, 3/7/22: test drove one, loved it, sat down to begin the purchase process but never got that far. (BTW we are pre-approved by our credit union for 36K and the car was listed at 35.4k) Salesman: "Unfortunately, those vehicles were transferred to our rental dept. last week and someone forgot to move them to the back". The concierge lady, Jamie, who we've only texted/spoken to stated that this action could NOT be reversed, they'd already changed the DMV registration. OK a mistake was made? Nope... So, Friday, 3/11/22, I'm checking online inventories here/CA and Dolan is still listing those same 3 red 2021 Grand Touring CX-5's as 3 of their 10 NEW cars in inventory, for sale. Come on down, schedule a test drive... Still haven't moved them to the back? I called the Dolan Group Admin Sales dept. Rep said they would take them off the website... um, right. Sorry, not sorry. I submitted a "question" to Ask Joe of 4 on Your Side, at KRNV 4 about where to report them for unethical business practices. Next stop: Better Business Bureau. read more
