My 40th is my first 1-star review: I started out having a good relationship with the service dept at this dealership (although the sales dept never wanted to deal with me on internet pricing, so I went elsewhere - twice - to purchase a new Mazda; their loss). A while back I had a transmission problem, so I took it to the service dept. After over 2 months of me chasing down the service rep (he wouldn't call me until I left 2 or 3 voicemails), he finally called to let me know they were not going to cover a repair under warranty. For 2 months they had delay upon delay and during this time my car was sitting outside in their service lot (at home it is garaged all the time). When I finally got the news, I retrieved my car from them and had the work done elsewhere. In March, the Mazda dealership had a booth at the Motorsports Expo at the Convention Center. A friend of mine has a picture of their car in the 2010 RX-8 brochure. I went to the booth, but couldn't find that specific brochure, so I asked a booth rep - who told me that Mazda discontinued the car. (Incorrect.) Today, I received a letter from the dealership. I scanned a copy which I am posting as a photo. It's kind of funny, but it's not -- it's a form letter stating that I should contact them if I was considering another vehicle. We found 3 of them on their front lot, 2021 "new" or leftover, in the color we wanted. Monday, 3/7/22: test drove one, loved it, sat down to begin the purchase process but never got that far. (BTW we are pre-approved by our credit union for 36K and the car was listed at 35.4k) Salesman: "Unfortunately, those vehicles were transferred to our rental dept. last week and someone forgot to move them to the back". The concierge lady, Jamie, who we've only texted/spoken to stated that this action could NOT be reversed, they'd already changed the DMV registration. OK a mistake was made? Nope... So, Friday, 3/11/22, I'm checking online inventories here/CA and Dolan is still listing those same 3 red 2021 Grand Touring CX-5's as 3 of their 10 NEW cars in inventory, for sale. Come on down, schedule a test drive... Still haven't moved them to the back? I called the Dolan Group Admin Sales dept. Rep said they would take them off the website... um, right. Sorry, not sorry. I had gone to one of their dealerships to upgrade to a car or SUV which i very much needed we looked at their online ads made appointment to see the car in the morning and when we got there for a half an hour no one could find the car we wanted to look at then another salesman came out and said it was sold an hour before they closed that night . Well we went to other dealerships and were told the exact same thing 3 dollan dealerships and 3 cars sold the same night i was to go see in the morning. The third dealership was pressure wanted us to make unbelievable down and $400.00 car payment . All of which i said no . We however ended up getting a Ford escape for 188.00 a month which made us happy very happy next year i plan on trading my car in and get a SUV from the same dealership where i got the Escape . I wouldn't trust their service department. I brought my CX9 here while under warranty to standard servicing and every time they attempted to charge for something "not covered." My favorite was each time trying to tell me I needed a $300+ key fob battery replacement (buy the battery on Amazon for $10-15 and YouTube how to do it yourself). I was also told twice that my brakes needed replacing after which I took the car across the street to Les Schwab for a brake inspection and told the opposite. read more

So I took my car in for it's 1st service and was hoping for a better experience, but actually was worse! They couldn't find my extended service contract, which was not imputed correctly through no fault of theirs, however, it was also through no fault of my own. I had a copy of my contract and bill of sale so I had my PROOF of payment, the issue was an internal MAZDA issue therefore shouldn't be my problem...instead they insisted I pay for the service even though i had proof i had already paid, they had proof it was an internal glitch and I was the one required to resolve the issue between Mazda Roseville, Mazda Dolan, Mazda Contracts, and Mazda Corp. Well, Dolan got their $100 come hell or high water, customer service be damned! Can't sell cars if the only place to service them treats customers this way. Modern cars require the use of good dealerships. Gone are the days when a car could be totally maintained by the owner or a local shop. Sadly, as Dolan is now the only Mazda dealer in Northern Nevada, I can no longer warrant purchasing a Mazda car. I've bought two, new Mazdas over the years, always the very top of the line models, and paid cash. Alas, no more. Ignoring the rude and unhelpful sales staff, I have been utterly dismayed by the lack of competent repair service. They were "unable to duplicate" an air conditioning problem when I already had the instruments hooked up, and one could see it malfunctioning. Recently, they quoted me "a little over $700" to change the six spark plugs in my car. Yesterday, I did the job myself in about an hour. Including the plugs and an intake manifold gasket set, total cost was less than $100, plus whatever is the value of my time. $500 for an hour of shop time seems a bit dear to me. I could go on, but even the service writer shook his head and frowned when I asked if they'd gotten any better technicians since the air conditioning fiasco? He said they're just a bunch of young kids that don't know much, and can only do what the trouble codes tell them to do. Mazda makes a new car. I wish I could buy a new one, but that's just a bad plan in Northern Nevada. Update.... I see someone from a Dolan made the obligatory response below. I had a meeting with the service manager about the AC problem. No help. "Can't duplicate" when the car was exhibiting the problem while we talked. I've received two boiler-plate letters from one of the Dolan owners stating "let me know if I can help". I responded with a personal letter twice. No response. Service manager mis-posted a reservation. Chewed me out for his mistake. Floor salesman couldn't spare the time to help me find info on a new car. Told me I should just go online. Later, in another attempt to buy a new car, sales manager quoted me full sticker on a 2017 Mazda 6 Grand Touring, and offered me $1,500 trade in on my car. It was December 2018 so the 2017 was already two years out of current model year, and my car was a 2009 6 Grand Touring S with 70k miles. I was so offended I just asked for my keys back and left. Sales manager kept shouting "make me an offer! Make me an offer!" I won't do business with anyone who treats me like I'm stupid. read more

An amazing experience is all I have to say. They have their slogan of "when you're here you're family" for a reason and Kyle Lemberes definitely delivered on that! Coming in I had done some homework and really likes the CX-5. I let Kyle know this and the first thing he did was make sure I could test drive and see if it live up to the reviews. It did and although I didn't have time that day, Kyle did not pressure me at all trying to make a sale! I let him know my time frame and when I would be available. It was going to take me 2 weeks before I would be ready to come back and he said it wasn't a problem. He made sure to give me a follow up call a week later and see if I had any questions. Then I was actually able to go down a day before I thought I'd be able to and he made sure to squeeze me in on a very busy day (without making me feel like I was being ignore or forgotten about). I walked out happy with my new Grand Touring and could not be happier! If you go in, ask for Kyle! We originally purchased our 2012 Mazda 3 from Dolan. Every experience we've had with them since then has been absolutely terrible. Over the years we've gone back looking to purchase a new vehicle, but between their sales department and their service department, they're anything but competent. Today I went in to get work done on the rear window of our model 3 for a known issue, and the tech wouldn't do anything unless they did a diagnostics first. They wanted to charge us $150 to a diagnostic on a known issue with our car. I even tried giving him the official repair guide that Mazda produced to fix this known issue, but he wouldn't take it. He said he didn't have a way to write it down as he stood there with a service iPad. They wanted us to leave the vehicle with them overnight so they could "diagnose the issue" and charge us $150 before they would even start work on the problem. We live an hour away from this dealership, made an appointment, and took time off work to get there, just so they could jerk us around. I'm going to attempt the repair myself. We're done with Mazda, and we're especially done with this dealership. read more

My Mazda SUV needed an oil change and an inspection before my warranty ran out. So I scheduled an appointment for oil change and other typical inspections for my vehicle's mileage. They gave me wrong information when scheduling the appointment, tried to charge me for extra items (perform brake inspection, fuel system cleaner) that was almost $80 on top of the $120 oil change (which I denied), and then told me the oil change and visual inspections will take two hours. So I stay in the waiting area, but after about 1.5 hours the service agent shows up stating they are running totally behind and have not even started the service. At this point, I request my vehicle and leave with all the time wasted for nothing. I just hope others have a better service experience. Back in January 2020, I dealt with them before and had an overall positive experience. Not sure if this has changed since the pandemic or if I just had bad luck today. read more

I recently went to Check out a new Mazda CX-5. When we got to the dealership we walked the lot a couple of times but there was nobody outside. Went inside and there was only one person there and they were already busy with someone. We probably walked around for 30 minutes before someone came up to us and said that if we needed help we could go into KIA and ask. We bought at CPO CX 9...we were told it had sirius xm radio...all we had to do was subscribe...well we got it home and turns out while the car had the sirius software in the display it did not have the receiver....they also sold us the car with an open recall on it without making the repairs. Then after 2500 miles tried to tell us it was due for an oil change and tire rotation even though tires were brand new when we purchased the car. I argued it with them and brought car in for recall work, they rotated the tires and changed the oil anyway and charged my unsuspecting wife for it. read more

This review is for the sales department when we visited on 12/3/10. We went in this weekend to take a look at CX7s & CX9s. When we arrived there were a hoard of salespeople waiting to pounce. We were greeted by Marty and then the lying & high pressure began (I later found out he was a door to door salesperson for 15 years from San Diego-If that was the truth??!!) We wanted to compare the CX7 to CX9 but they had no CX7s on the lot. We agreed to take a look and drive in a CX9 but felt it was a bit too large for our needs. Here is what we were told by Marty: 1 - The 2011 CX7 is not available with All Wheel Drive or leather. 2 - The CX9s outsell the CX7 2 to 1 and would be worth more in resale due to their popularity. My wife and I were in the market for a late-model used Mazda CX-5; 2014 or 2015. Dolan Mazda had one listed, which, according to the listing, included both the "technology package" and "navigation;" features that we were interested in. The asking price for the car would have been a reasonable price on the base model; but this one purported to have extra features for the same price. So, naturally, I was interested; but I was also skeptical. Having read this place's Yelp reviews, I did the smart consumer thing: I called ahead to the dealership. I told them that I'd be driving up to Reno from Berkeley, CA, which is 173 miles away. I told them that I was interested in a specific car, and that I wanted to verify the equipment and price. At this point, you can see where the story is going. I was told to that the car was available, as advertised, and that we should come on down. We drove up, and test-drove the car. It was the base model; despite the ad, and despite my call, the advertised features were not included. We'd driven to Reno to see a car that I *knew* could be had much closer to home, for a comparable or better price. I was prepared for this possibility, having read other Yelp reviews. We'd booked accommodations, and planned a weekend. Nevertheless, I was upset. The dealer didn't know I'd planned ahead; only that we were driving up, from Berkeley, to see a car. So, I told them I'd consider making an offer; but that they'd need to make me a great deal to balance the equities. I sat down with the manager, I explained the situation, and I asked what he was prepared to do. His response? "I'll tell them to be more careful in the future when listing cars." I just blinked. He did ultimately agree to a 2.3% discount on the asking price; but when I tried to push further, he actually stated at one point, "That probably is a fair price, but I'm not going to do it." Wife and I left, and drove back to Berkeley the next day. On the way, we bought a newer CX-5, with less miles, for roughly the same price as the dealer's final offer -- a final offer which he reiterated when he called us the next day [while we were driving back!] to see if we'd changed our minds. We had not. If you're in the market for a car in Reno, check out Lithia Subaru, e.g., and stay away from these guys. P.S.: Oh, and that bit about being more careful going forward? B.S.; as of today, 5/13/15, the same car is still listed on their website. It still purports to have the Touring Technology Package [it doesn't] and navigation [it doesn't]. The only thing that is different about the listing is that the asking price has been jacked up $1200 dollars. I had givin them a great review in the past, if I would have known about all the loops and turns I went through with them, I would not have gotten my car from this dealer. Since I bought the car in NV, and I live in CA I needed to pay the registration in my state, I go to the DMV to find out that they never even gave me the right paper work to register the vehicle. So I had to call and call and call until I fonally got a hold of someone, who had to mail the DMV in CA all my papers, so I had to make another appt and do it all over again. Needless to say I had to pay late fees, that I feel they should pay me back for, but with the luck I have had with this dealership, that will never happen. Then a few weeks ago, after having the car for almost 2 months, I get more paperwork from the DMV saying that they never sent over the pink slip for my old car and that I needed to still pay the registration on my car I traded to them! So I had to call, again and explain what was going on and that apparently they still needed to send form over to the DMV. Get it together! I told them if I have to call back about another incident that I will just bring the damn thing back, its not worth the head ache nor the funds. Overall the initial experince was good, but if I would have known that this is what I was going to be dealing with from here on out, I would have NEVER have gotten a car from them! read more

Let me preface this by saying that this place could have been 4-5 stars, and my review has little-to-nothing to do with the associate I worked with as he was very respectful and polite. So today I made my way down there to have a look at a car I saw on their website that looked good, if this drove well I'd be willing to make a deal this very day for the right price. As in my other review of a Dealership, I will lay out my experiences/observations for people to draw their conclusions from. First, service was very polite and very courteous. I liked that I could speak without being interrupted for a change and have the person I'm working with actually listen. The dealership does force you to go on a premeditated route for your test drive, but on the other hand you can at least test drive it for as long as you wish until you feel satisfied with the feel of the car. Their cars all look to be in good shape, it at least seems like a place you could buy a car from on faith that it would not have major mechanical problems. They aren't selling junkers. Now to get to the reason I left and why this review is 2 stars. I already had the Kelly Blue Book and True Market Values written down for this car, I know what it's worth considering the factors present at my viewing. They made me wait around for an excessively long period of time before negotiating price. Why? Because they wanted to run a credit check on me so they could attempt to snatch the loan from my bank, and have the audacity to offer me a higher APR at that. This done fully aware that I already had pre-approval and having made it clear they would receive the value of the car in full at the time of purchase. Let me reiterate that for clarity. I would have been buying the car from them straight up. There was no reason to waste over an hour of my time, refusing to speak on price until then. Very infuriating. Next up, "required" VIN etching for $200 as a dealer fee. Listen folks, Nevada law requires dealers to OFFER it, you are not required to buy it. This is a straight up scam and several dealers in town do it. Next up, the usual 2000+ dollar insurance package they "forgot" about added in to the price of the car. I caught them on this and questioned it, and you should look for this too. I assure you if it had been an option that LOWERED the price by $2000+ dollars they would not forget. Finally, the last nail in the coffin. All of the above can be forgiven to an extent, but this dealership did the one thing no customer should ever put up with and that is to refuse to negotiate on price. I would have been willing to pay Kelly Blue Book value to the penny, which is more than a fair deal considering KBB is listing prices (Not what it actually sells for) assuming good condition. To have the audacity to attempt to tell a customer you won't negotiate on the price of a used car is the number one thing you never do. I can only take that as management insulting my intelligence and I will not accept that nor should anyone else. In closing, buyer very much beware. read more

Purchased my car here a year ago. Called to see the service schedule for 24k miles. The girl in service quoted me $200 for a tire rotation and $283 for an oil change. I clarified multiple times because There's a coupon online for $80 for oil change and free tire rotation. When I tried to understand she was super short and rude(think arguing with a teenage girl) and clearly didn't want to see what I was looking at on their own website advertising. I'm going to Arrow Automotive for an oil change honestly based on her bitchy response to every validating question I had. How in the hell is there a $400 differential for an oil change and tire rotation when you're advertising $80 on your website!? Also, I know covid did a number on all service industry, but me asking qualifying questions is quite literally your job answering phones at the service department. Take the extra 15 seconds to check your website for your employer and see why people might be confused when you quote them $483 for an oil change that costs $80. Only giving 2 stars because last time I got my car serviced it was a much better experience. read more

Okay, so based on my first visit- I'd have given them 1 star but they made up for it. I realize my first mistake was taking one of our cars here in the first place. Everyone always says not to take vehicles to the dealer because of the prices. But, as I get older I find that I am less inclined to deal with b.s. and would prefer to pay more to avoid hassles. So I take in my boyfriends car- the automatic window was broken. As in, the window would not open/ close properly and we had to use TAPE to hold the window up while we waited for an appt to get it fixed properly (Oh, so ghetto) Needless to say, I wasn't very happy about having to have tape on the damn window. So we were told that it would be about $100 and what they would do is take apart the door and see if the window had just come off the track, or if it was the motor in the window that was out. (note: we told them it was the motor- but they 'needed to be sure') We were told that if it was the motor then they would put the window on a block in the door to secure it until they could get the part for the motor. Either way, we were expecting the window to be secured after that appointment- either with it being completely fixed, or just secured until they got the part. That, and the door handle needed a little screw because it was loose. Yadda yadda it ended up being the motor and we needed a part (like we told them). As my boyfriend is driving home in his car, he calls me- and tells me that they didn't secure the window! Boy was he pissed. Further pissing him off, he noticed that they put a Reno Mazda license plate holder on his car. So we gave them $100 and all they did was tell us what we already knew (that it was the motor) and put in a screw we could have gotten at Auto Zone, or even Walmart for $5 or so. Oh, and their shameless marketing attempt on the back of our car. I called and fussed at Brian (Service Manager) and explained why I was upset and wanted an explanation for the difference in what we were told over the phone- and what was actually done. Well apparently whoever told us they could secure the window, was wrong! Neat, eh? They got some Helpy Helperson over there promising this and that, only to piss people off when they find out it's not true. Apparently this happens when the service manager goes on vacation. Awesome. I tell Brian they basically robbed us. They lied to us, then robbed us. Bottom line. So frustrating when one person froma business does this or that and then other employees say they "don't do that'. How bout y'all get on the same page?! We had an appt to go back the following week to install the part and I informed him that we'd not be keeping that appointment unless he wanted to apply the money we gave them today towards the balance of the next visit. He agreed to give us the discount and we were pleasantly surprised when we picked the car up and discovered that he'd had his detail shop clean all the sticky stuff from the tape off of the window tint. So, all in all, a major miscommunication and it was probably more expensive than a smaller repair shop- but we'll be back because of Brian and his good customer service. A good attitude can fix just about any problem - so we left their license plate holder on. read more

Decided to take my Mazda here to get the left front tire repaired. I needed a new tire and control arm. I didn't realize what a mistake it would be to take it here opposed to another repair shop. It is now going on the fourth week without my car because the "part got lost in the shipment" for two weeks. Once a part finally arrives it is "the wrong one" for my car. They ordered one for the third time, for it to be "the wrong color". The amount of incompetence that radiates from the place is absolutely ridiculous. They refused to put the parts of the car to figure out of the tires would align correctly to make sure there wasn't anything else broken within the car. Because of this, I now have wait for who knows how long because there of course was something else wrong. There is barely any communication from them, I have to constantly call them in order to hear any updates on the car as they failed to inform me about anything for the first two weeks. There just seems to be constant scapegoating to everyone else in regards to the problems that keep happening. At this point I do not believe a word they have said, for all I know they are trying to scam to get more money from insurance. I just want my car back! My wife and I purchased a Mazda CX-5 from Reno Mazda this weekend. The salesman David was very knowledgeable about all the features in the car, as well as the differences between the trim levels and the various options. He's extremely congenial, and a very helpful salesman. Hubert, the sales manager, took a lot of time with us answering all of our questions, especially in helping us choose between financing a purchase versus a lease. I had never leased before and wanted to fully understand all the costs involved so I could compare it to a purchase. Ultimately the interest rate to finance the car was just so low that we chose to purchase instead. We had done our research shopping between dealerships in Northern California (we're from Redding, CA... about 4 hours away) and Reno Mazda gave us the best price, without any haggling. Whatever happened around here before, I want to say that I had a great experience with Jamie and Matt. They worked together with others behind the scenes to get me the financing package I wanted and a ton of extras I didn't even expect. Rather than haggle over price, I came in with a clear idea of the down payment and monthly payment I wanted to achieve. Jamie did the dog-and-pony show of going into the "back room" multiple times, but I've seen Fargo so I don't know haha :) Bottom line, I got the car I asked for with the terms I asked for, plus a bunch of extras like window tint, clear bra, 7 year warranty, and 4 years of free oil changes. All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I'm very pleased with my purchase. Do I feel like I got a good deal? I think I got a fair deal based on TrueCar and others like that, but more importantly, I feel like I am outfitted with a complete solution that will last me the next 5-7 years without headaches. Time will tell if everything is true, but for now I am very please with how they handled things. PS - I did inquire about the negative reviews even recently. They said that a month or two ago they cleaned house and reorganized. They attributed that to the change in service and told me that, yes, if I had come a few months ago, I would have had a terrible experience. So how's that for owning mistakes? read more

Where can I even start with Dolan Mazda? I'm writing this review after having my final bad encounter with Dolan and the service staff there. First off... the reviews saying wait times are ridiculous aren't embellishing the truth. Our family vehicle was purchased from Dolan Mazda back in 2014. We paid it all off in all cash after the "team" there promised a few things to earn our business. Well, when it came time for them to keep their word and honor the deal it was a clusterf**k to say the least. In short... it took Dolan Mazda over a month to get us the all-weather mats included on our contracts. Hmmm... shoulda known something was up then but tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Took our vehicle in for EVERY service to Dolan Mazda. Each time was a minimum 3 hour wait for a SCHEDULED SERVICE APPOINTMENT! 3 hours to change the oil?!? Whatever, we have the extended warranty and guess it's worth the wait to keep our warranty valid. Weren't we wrong! Check engine light started to come on around 30k miles. Code was for a bad sensor in the cooling system. Took the car in to have the problem fixed and serviced under warranty. After waiting around from roughly 9:30am until 4:00pm that day we received our vehicle back but the CEL was still on...? Why?!? You just had my car all day and for what? All they did was read the code and confirm that the code was for what I told them. A few weeks later we go ahead and pay out of pocket for them to fix the sensor and do the 30k mile service all in one go. Cool deal, right? WRONG! Again... 9-4 waiting around in Dolan's uncomfortable dealership. Finally we get our car back. This is in the middle of winter. Thank them reluctantly for the "hard work" and head home. Notice my CEL isn't on anymore so that's good. Wait... why won't my heater warm up? Maybe the engine is cold or something. Head home. Halfway home I'm freezing even though the heater is on full heat and recirculating the cabin air. What the actual f**k?!? Low and behold, Dolan and their "awesome" team of mechanics managed to somehow break the heating system in our vehicle during a common service. When we called to report the problem we were faced with a basic "not our fault and it's not covered" response from them. After arguing and threatening legal action they finally "Got approval from Mazda Corporate" to fix WHAT THEY BROKE on our vehicle. We had to drive back to Reno with no heater (over an hour drive for us) to drop off our vehicle and pick up the loaner car. After about a week we finally got word they found time to fix our car that they broke. Jump to this week. A few days ago we call to get an appointment for 4 new tires and an oil service. Gal on the phone as well as the parts department both get the tire information and inform we will be getting Mazda's "Buy 3 get the 4th for $1" promotional deal! Super awesome! This morning I make the hour drive up there for the service. Prepared to be there all day because that's how Dolan operates. Tell the service guy that I'm here and have an appointment for tires and an oil change. He apparently has no information of the call and appointment information we had given up a few days prior. Okay... at this point I knew it was gonna be bad. After he is the 3rd person to take down our tire size I confirm we're getting the 3 and 4th for $1 deal, right? WRONG!!! This guy tells me "We don't honor that promotion." Really? After every single person on the phone quotes me with this deal you're gonna wait til I drive an hour out here to tell me this?!? Then I inform him I'm tired of the bad service and that last time we came in they broke our vehicle. His response... "We wouldn't do that. I don't think that happened." Well Dolan, I hope you and your service manager and customers enjoyed hearing me cuss you out and call you all out for shady business and lying and breaking customers vehicles. You don't deserve the business of the great people of Nevada. Shady business and lies is just the tip of the iceberg with you. Bought my Mazda 3 here. That expericance was great. If I get my service done here for the first 100k miles I get 2 free sets of tires. So, since I am planning on servicing my car here anyway, I opted to prepay the service for the first 60k miles. I still think that was a good deal, as oil changes on new cars a pretty pricey. The people here are always very friendly, the showroom is clean. It is always fun looking at the other cars, and they have a driving video game in the lobby / showroom to play for free when you are there. Now for the bad news. The service there can be slow. I have had my car serviced here several times, the last took 2 hours for an oil change and tire rotation. In my oppinion that is WAY too long. I did have an appointment, so I think 1 hour MAX. Bottom line, I will continue to service my car there, as it is paid for for the next several visits, and then continue until I get my last set of "free" tires. After that we will see how they do on service times. read more

We ended up with a newer 2018 KIA Optima. From start to finish, we had a really great experience and would definitely recommend them to others.
