One of our favorite go to's!! Great food & great views & fast service! Really can't beat it!

My husband I were staying in Capistrano Beach for the week for my birthday . When we come we like to come here to eat and watch the ocean . My husband enjoyed a beer a little pricy like $ 12 bucks for a glass of beer, but it's the beach what do you expect . He ordered the 3 piece fish and chips which were ok but small pieces and were a little greasy . I had the fish tacos which were good . They didn't have a full menu available only a small list of items . We really enjoyed our lunch with a view of the view of the ocean and sunset are beautiful ! read more

Food was average but def not worth the 45min wait. Understaffed so long long long wait. Kind of disappointing how understaffed they were with the huge menu. Soft serve ice cream cones not worth the price. about a fourth of a cup of ice cream on a cone. Won't stand in line for that again read more

They somehow downgraded after closing for renovations for months. Got rid of my favorite item on the menu (California Burrito), limited their hours (used to be open well past sundown, now they close at 5:30pm), just an overall worse experience. The 3 items I've had since the reopening have been okay to mediocre (my ratings: chicken teriyaki bowl 2/5, chicken tenders 3/5, hamburger 3/5). Always smells like stale beer outside since they don't clean the spots where the kegs sit outside. Great location but it feels like they sacrificed food quality for profits. It went from restaurant quality to snack shack level items, which is fine enough for a beach day, but still disappointing to someone who visited frequently prior to the renovations. Not only that, after setting up catered tacos for my birthday party on the other side of the park, they called the rangers to report us for a violation. At no point would our party conflict with their sales in the same way that any person bbqing burgers in the park wouldn't conflict with their sales, yet they decided to try to ruin our party. Hugely selfish move by their management, and shows that their local clientele are not a priority. I will not be supporting this business any further. read more

Came back and got the brisket and fries. Not much has changed with the service. I heard someone say "another one!" When I said yes to wanting a receipt. Well of course I want a receipt, you don't give us the frozen margaritas we ordered when you give us our order. Both me and my friend had to ask for ours. The food is good but overpriced. $14 for my brisket sandwich w/no fries. Fries have to be ordered separately. At the register, you're asked to tip. For what exactly? Not giving us our complete order and making snarky remarks? read more

I've been to the cafe many times in 2025, went today January 17 th and ordered the chicken tacos. One bite and they were ice cold so I took them back. The server at the window apologized and went to have the order remade. She appeared 10 min later with two tortillas and shredded chicken but without the slaw and salsa. So I pushed them back into the window and called her out on the mistake. She added the slaw and salsa but something told me to check the chicken, which I did. Again, the chicken was stone cold. I called her back over and told her that the second order was no better than the first. Meanwhile other customers were complaining about items missing from their orders and general poor service. And my wife is sitting alone on what was supposed to be a fun lunch at the beach. This time I said forget it, I don't trust what's going on back there I want my money back. They refunded my money without any apology. The menu is obviously too big for the kitchen to handle. It's too bad because it ls a great beach. read more

Don't get the poke and chips. It was $18 for a box of chips with a side of poke! The poke looked like it was a complimentary side of salsa for my chips. There was probably 6 pieces of poke in the cup. The fish quality is good but way overpriced. Besides the food, the view was nice and they had a corn hole game where the tables were. This is a beach snack bar at Doheny State Beach. With that being said, the food is surprisingly good. I had a breakfast burrito which was served with salsa. It was hot and delicious. My wife had a turkey, pesto and avocado sandwich. The turkey was from a moist, tasty, roasted turkey. Very good, especially for a beach snack bar. If you are looking for a great spot to watch surfers and catch some rays, this is an excellent choice. read more

The food and ambience are great. The service is so painfully slow and inefficient. I would encourage you to walk across PCH and find something to eat. There seems to be a lack of initiative or any sense of urgency to move food out of the kitchen. It took me about 30 minutes to get a Poké bowl, something that is not cooked. Everyone there is nice, but obviously inexperienced and again no leadership whatsoever. If you plan to eat lunch at add an extra 30 to 45 minutes to your eating regimen. If it's busy, bless you and your family and your appetite. read more

Great location, food was terrible. I got an "Açaí" bowl that had full chunks of ice in it like it was a poorly mixed smoothie. Every other restaurant at this location went out of business, please make better food so the same doesn't happen to you. read more

A very special place to enjoy a beer, great food and listen to music. Definitely a beach vibe, which we love. We recently celebrated my wife's birthday at Doho with about 40 family members and friends...Wow, what a great job they did to dress up our reserved section with tables, tablecloths, flowers, shells etc. But the best part was the service...we were treated like royalty. Many kudos to Leslie and her crew for the great service. Also, all our guests all loved this location. Our family loves the Doho Cafe! We have a State Beach annual pass and one of our favorite things to do for lunch or happy hour on the weekends is to head to the Doho cafe and order food, drinks and get a table by the sand. The kids can play while my husband and I relax and enjoy the view. Our kids love the food! (*hint they are so kind and will make an off menu grilled cheese for our picky eater. Day after Christmas. Long line. Slowwww service 30+ minutes for food after order. Fish taco tortillas cold and crumbly. The quinoa grain bowl did not have any quinoa! Order was incorrect as well. Very glad this place is up and running again! Friendly staff makes one feel welcome. Excellent place to sit in the sun and enjoy a cold beer on a warm day. Fab-u-lous!! You definitely can't beat the location having a yummy lunch while watching the surfers and enjoying the ocean air. But the food...wow! I had their roasted califlower and Omgoodness it was to die for! I'm not sure what all was on it but it was a huge portion. There was Parmesan, lemon, tahini. It was honestly so delicious! We also had the sweet potato waffle fries. They were perfectly crispy and really hot the spot. My hubby had the Turkey sandwich. It was a big sandwich and he really liked it but you need a ton of napkins cuz it's a bit messy. And we rounded it all Off with a lemonade which was very tasty. We set up our umbrellas and chairs and expected to have a sun standard beach lunch but we were pleasantly surprised! Don't miss this spot! It's a keeper! read more

I was really surprised by the quality of the food at this place; my wife got me the the fries and impossible burger to go, since I was on the beach. If she hadn't told me, I would have assumed the food was from a fancier restaurant. Fries were really good, the burger bun and veggies were fresh! Even the lemonade was really refreshing (it didn't seem like it came out of can/box, wasn't too sweet or overpowering in its tartness). Very nicely done, really enjoyed the fare. read more
