This is a long time establishment for Munising. We ate here in 2018. It's decorated like the cartoon from the newspapers. Decor hasn't been refreshed since it opened. We stopped in for lunch. We stopped at this place on our way to the Pictures Rocks boat tour, the food was great! I got the whitefish basket and my fiance got the burger! Both were so delicious! The white fish was so fresh and the batter was light and crispy not greasy at all! The waitress was very kind! Overall a great experience especially when you compare it to the horrible experience we had at the tahquamenon Falls Brewery yesterday! We went for a week long vacation in Munising and wound up eating at the Dog Patch at least one meal each day! I can't say enough about how friendly the staff was. We absolutely loved talking to the servers and they were quick, friendly, and attentive! We tried several things on the menu and they were all delicious. Our favorite was the cinnamon French toast. And don't be tempted by the salad bar from Hell. 360 degrees of poor quality. Bad, bad, bad. I know, I know, it's U.P. food, drop the expectations at the door. When we walked in the restaurant was very dark. Very poorly lit. Walked by the salad bar and it looked like it was half taken away and getting ready to close. The service was actually quite good and the servers behind the bar were polite, nice, talkative and seemingly well-informed. The food was average at best, the wine and beer selection were mediocre, the glasses were not what anyone would call clean on any scale, and for a Saturday night in the beginning of the summer they were quite slow right in the middle of dinner hour. It's hard to imagine trying to run a UP restaurant especially during Covid and the great staffing shortage of 21. With that said. I try to like this place. It's always staffed with very cool people so I had dogging on the patch. Food is always below average and overpriced. I've been here probably 3 times in the last 3 years and I always assume they had a bad week and that's why the food isn't great. It's been 3 years and I have never had a good meal. Now with other competitions around like Eh burger and the Breweries selling pretty decent food, I wouldn't be surprised if the patch is on the way out or hopefully gets a full menu and quality revamp. read more

I see tons of bad reviews for this place but who wouldn't stop for a restaurant that looks like a giant dog house. Odd, but unique. I won't talk about the food too much. It was average. Not a huge selection, no amazing tastes, but nothing really to complain a out. What I will talk about is Molly. Our waitress. She is AWESOME! Probably some of the best service I've ever received. Had the breakfast buffet with my girlfriend while visiting her grandma in munising. We both thought all of the buffet food was well prepared for buffet food. My only suggestion would have been for crisper corned beef hash. Some of the plates were dirty but I find that typical at buffet style places. The waitress was nice. Price was $30 for two buffets and an orange juice which to me was a fair price. I come from the Chicago suburbs so our average meal cost may be higher than other areas. Buffet options were muffins, donuts, strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, French toast sticks, biscuits and gravy, sausage, Canadian bacon, scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs with mushrooms and onion, corned beef hash, and chicken wings. Decor was dated, restaurant probably could have been a little cleaner but given the price for food I thought it was fine. It was the only option open for breakfast in munising so something was better than nothing. read more

The service was good and our waitress was attentive, offering refills and the like. You have to keep in mind it's a cute little restaurant in the UP with little access to much. The service was slow. For only two tables being occupied. The menus they hand out to the customers is almost a 50% increase of value compared to every menu on yelp nor their personal website. They also advertise many items online menus and then the menu they use is nearly half the size of the online menu. They had no response for why that is. The staff is so kind and helpful when you need substitutions. They were so courteous and helped me to work around some dietary issues I have had. I make it a point to eat here every time I drive to or through Munising, MI. Good home-cooked meals at awesome prices. Ate there for breakfast again this morning! The mushroom appetizer was yummy! I had the fish and chips basket. The fish was fresh and amazing, the batter could have used some seasonings. My husband had a burger, again it could have used some seasoning. The staff was very nice, we came in a half in here before they closed and they took us at no hesitation.
