Always try to go local when I'm in a new place. There are several stores in town offering a pasty, this was recommended by more than a few locals. It didn't disappoint in the least... The cashier was great, but opinionated on the local fare She does not suggest you use a plate, a fork, or condiments. They sell 6-8 different options, but she hasn't got past the yooper. So needless to say, i had that and didn't try anything else. One is enough, two was too much, and i couldn't finish it. Take out pasties so no ambiance. . I was there during the ashy smoke days of 2026 so we didn't use there picnic tables. The crust was sturdy enough and not abnormally greasy. Which is a key feature for a yooper like me. I am not a fan of carrots in my pasties but the pieces aren't very large. Wish this store well. read more

Thank you Yelpers for steering me to the best Yooper Pasty spot I've ever had! Extra bonus?! My vegan boyfriend was able to have his first taste of Pasty as well! This may have set the bar too high for pasties because many pasty spots are not nearly this well seasoned. The way they shred the potato into hash brown style pieces inside really helps the pasty hold its shape and heartiness until the last bite. One is all you need for a meal, but get extra to have for later! Do not skip trying this out when you're visiting Munising and the Pictured Rocks! read more

I'm glad I tried it. It was tasty and felt authentic, but don't expect a high protein meal. Mine had minimal meat and leaned more veggie heavy. At $9 each, they're on the pricier side for what you get, but it was a good cultural food stop, especially since several locals highly recommended it. I was told by everyone and their mom that if I went to the UP, I had to try pastys (pronounced pass-ty's and not paste-ty's HAHA) The locals recommended Miners. The person who took our order gave me such sweet grandma vibes. We got a Yooper and a Piggy. Yooper is apparently the classic pasty and it was really good! It had potatoes, onions, carrots, meats. The outside crust is thin and flakey and buttery. Pigger was great; I preferred it over the Yooper. I loved that it had pulled pork and corn. It also came with an orange-pop sauce which tasted kinda like BBQ sauce! Very filling! One was enough for me. read more

Vacation in the UP isn't complete without a pasty! I tried my very first one today from Miner's Pasty Kitchen. They'd sold 270 pasties before I stopped by, so options were limited to whitefish and vegan. While whitefish isn't the most traditional pasty variety, I was craving fish and the other fillings were your traditional carrots, potatoes, etc. It was so delicious! The filling had great flavor and the dough was like a thin pot pie dough. I could taste the butter. The woman at the counter was sooo sweet and gave us extra tartar sauce since we were splitting. The shop was small and cute. They also sell ice cream. 10/10 would recommend and eat a whitefish pasty again! read more

I have had a few pasties in my life, and always look forward to the opportunity to enjoy another one. When you are in the UP, it is mandatory that you get a pasty before you leave. Because I am a law abiding type, I had to stop by Miners Pasty Kitchen while I was in Munising. Miners had 4 different pasties (and one special( on the menu when I dropped in. My mom and I were not terribly hungry, so we split a "Yooper" pasty between the two of us. The "Yooper" contained potatoes, rutabaga, onions, carrots, beef, and pork. It came served on a paper plate and cost $8.50. I wanted to order the meal, which included coleslaw and a cookie, but they were out of cookies, so we just got the pasty. There was no room for inside seating, so it was either outside seating or eat in your car. There were plenty of picnic tables; however, they were all occupied, so we got cozy with some strangers and had a nice chat. We received our pasty within 2 minutes of ordering and with a smile from the owner. The pasty was the typical size and was very filling. As for flavor, it was well seasoned (a bit towards the peppery side), and very good overall. As for pasties, it ranked higher than average. My only complaint is that $8.50 was a bit expensive for a pasty. Even in today's world of high food and labor costs, pasties typically go for $6-7. However, this is a tourist town and the departure point for Pictured Rocks Cruises, so I can understand an extra $1 or so. Worth a stop! read more

This is the second pasty I've ever eaten and by far the best had the beef with the beef gravy. My wife had the chicken with the chicken gravy. My daughter got beef with nothing, and we also ordered two dessert, the apple pie and lemon. Both of them were amazing desserts, I can't complain. This was an awesome food experience. These were the worst that we have ever eaten. Too full of salt and pepper. Shaved potatoes instead of cut. The crust was terrible. Time to go to school to learn how to cook.
