    Chicken pasty

Tried Miners Pasty Kitchen to experience a true northern Michigan tradition. Pasties are savory pastries brought over by Cornish miners, typically filled with meat and vegetables. I'm glad I tried it. It was tasty and felt authentic, but don't expect a high protein meal. Mine had minimal meat and leaned more veggie heavy. At $9 each, they're on the pricier side for what you get, but it was a good cultural food stop, especially since several locals highly recommended it. Worth trying once, though not something I'd come back for. For more personal recommendations and travel tips, check out my adventures on Instagram: @OfficialTravelGuy

We had been mispronouncing these since day 1 of our trip, but eventually learned "pasty" rhymes with nasty. However, these were far from nasty! We had the breakfast pasty and it was stuffed with hearty potatoes, onions, eggs, sausage and cheese. The pastry dough was super light and flaky too! We actually went back later to get more but they had sold out! It's very small inside, but they do have ice cream as well.

Vacation in the UP isn't complete without a pasty! I tried my very first one today from Miner's Pasty Kitchen. They'd sold 270 pasties before I stopped by, so options were limited to whitefish and vegan. While whitefish isn't the most traditional pasty variety, I was craving fish and the other fillings were your traditional carrots, potatoes, etc. It was so delicious! The filling had great flavor and the dough was like a thin pot pie dough. I could taste the butter. The woman at the counter was sooo sweet and gave us extra tartar sauce since we were splitting. The shop was small and cute. They also sell ice cream. 10/10 would recommend and eat a whitefish pasty again!

Absolutely delicious breakfast pasty! Highly recommend a stop here! You will not be disappointed.

Couldn't leave Michigan without trying an authentic Pasty! This place was highly recommended by a kayak tour guide and it did not disappoint. I had the breakfast pasty (for lunch) and it was very filling and delicious. I also tried the Yooper and Chicken one (we all got different ones to try). The cashier was so sweet and she gave us the history of the Pasty which made the entire experience better.

    Yooper pasty

The yooper pasty was a great treat after a long day hiking! It was delicious on its own- but add some hot sauce and you got yourself a delicious treat!!

With this update, I'm only adding an advertising flyer that I found for the shop. Enjoy!

Classic Yooper (beef and pork) and Vegan Pasties. Yummy!

Would recommend over any pastie shop in Munising.. moist innards, flaky crust, and love their specialty pasties.

Limited supply. Menu online is not always available. When we went there was only vegan available .

Probably the best overall pasty we've had so far. Flavor was poppin and crust was on point!

Had the cheeseburger pastie and, while good, I should have opted for the traditional one. The chocolate chip cookies were good as well.

On our road trip around the Great Lakes from Philly, we made a stop at this incredible spot -- and…read moredon't ask me to pronounce the name! Located inside Palms Book State Park, this natural spring was one of the most unique and beautiful places we visited. The water is crystal clear all the way to the bottom, and you can easily see fish swimming below. You hop onto a self-operated raft that you pull across the water to the middle of the spring, where there's an opening in the center to look straight down. It gives you a perfect view of the vibrant underwater world -- it's honestly mesmerizing. It's a quick stop, but totally worth it. And the best part? It's dog-friendly! Definitely add this to your list if you're exploring the Upper Peninsula.

We were on a road trip from Mackinaw City to…read moreMilwaukee and wanted to break up the trip a bit so we saw this diversion and decided to check it out. Clear blue water, bubbling sand, never ending springs, a tow boat, and lots of trout are the wonders to see. Everyone gets on the boat and someone (well a few people over the course of the trip) step up to the wheel to tow the boat across the water. The water is mesmerizing. I couldn't take my eyes off the water. Many people can fit on the boat so the wait is not too long. A day pass is $11. Definitely make this stop if you are in the area.
