Mariah was an AMAZING waitress that was really good to me, my family, and most importantly my 3 year old that usually ignored. The food was fast, great, and the management was amazing. Have been a fan of Docs for YEARS! we ordered curbside many times during the shutdown to support them. Today (a Friday night) we went and were completely taken back by the change in business model. Instead of being seated by a host(ess), speaking with a server, reading a menu, and enjoying the atmosphere, you enter, wait to order at a counter (while being ignored by an employee) and seat and serve yourself. We ordered a kids meal, 2 2-meat plates, a beer and a cocktail and the bill was nearly $70. And they left a place for a tip. A tip for what? Taking my order? I understand that prices went up because their cost for food went up. (We noticed the price change when ordering curbside.) But to have those prices AND to serve myself? No thanks. It felt more like a fast food experience than a restaurant. We asked for a refund and probably won't be back. No wonder the place was empty on a Friday night. Beyond disappointing. read more

This is a solid 4 star bbq joint. The pulled pork and brisket were good. It was not the best I've ever had but definitely good and worth the stop. The Brussel sprouts was an available side the afternoon I dined here and boy let me tell you THE VERY BEST Brussel sprouts I've EVER had. They were seasoned with a little bit of char. Totally scrumptious. I literally can't stop telling people I had the BEST Brussel sprouts ever. Service was good. My waitress was very nice and attentive. My drink was never empty and she had a great attitude. Unfortunately I was unable to sample from the huge selection of delicious craft beers available. It was still a work day after all. Just had dinner at DOC's. The craft beer selection was incredible. Selections from local breweries to remote ones, covering the spectrum of beer. The manager, David, came over and was discussing the different beers, as well as a beer festival not far away, that sells out of tickets within minutes. He is a very friendly and personable guy with a great beard. Can't miss him! For food I had the special, all-you-can-eat bbq rib tips and pig wings. What are pig wings? Take St. Louis style ribs, smoke them, grill them quickly, put their wing rub on them, flash fry them, and toss on some more rub. The result is delicious. Not too crowded for a Friday night (guess it was around 9 PM). Plenty of seating and table tops with a good amount of TVs lined up along the bar. 5 Wings: $7 Definitely on the crispier side as we had it, served with a few sides. We loved the dry rub sprinkled on top. It gave the wings amazing flavor. Though the wings itself were on the smaller side, not much meat on'em. 3 Meat Platter: $25 Chicken, Ribs, and Brisket. Wowweeee. The chicken was so tender, brisket right up there, and ribs were ok. My favorite was the chicken! Served with two sides, coleslaw & house cut fries. Sides were nothing special, but still good. They also include some dill pickles and one slice of white bread. We enjoyed drenching every bit of everything with their house sauce. The beers on tap are astounding in both number and variety. There are so many local choices available, and it is really hard to choose what you want to start out with first. Whatever your choice, do pair your selection with the Redneck Fries. Fries, cheddar cheese sauce, jalapeños, brisket, and barbecue sauce...that's their best appetizer. My go-to for the main meal is the 2 or 3 meat plate. I always go for the turkey...it's smoked, and oh so good! The sandwiches are so good, too! They really pile on the meat!! At the end of the day, solid BBQ overall, as one would hope. On the other hand, ribs are hit and miss. Regardless, I can no longer patronize solely on philosophical criteria alone. When you are paying $29 for a rib dinner, you really shouldn't be charged extra for a second roll. Not that I am engorging on dinner rolls, but that rare policy has always and will always be a show-stopper for me. Now, if the food were that great, maybe I would reconsider? I have only been here once and the only thing i got was a drink. Came back a second time because i heard so many praises about the food. So it probably wasn't the smartest idea to come here on the 4th of July because Doc's ended up running out of ribs and chicken. I decided to settle with a bbq pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese on the side. My bf got the redneck fries and we actually ended up splitting everything. Doc's has a really good bbq sauce and both our meals were very good. My bf and I ended up not finishing all the redneck fries because it was just so much food! It was delicious though. Doc's also has a pretty decent beer list but I wish they could get more 18th street beers on tap! The service here is impeccable. We started with the Redneck Fries, which were French Fries, cheddar cheese sauce mixed with beef brisket. That was Divine. The fries were seasoned with something tasty and the brisket was good. For the entree, I had the Notorious P.I.G. which is sausage, pulled pork and ribs. The sausage was very good, the ribs were delicious, the pulled pork I did not taste, but took home. Too much food to eat at once. For the sides I had the cole slaw and the potato salad. The slaw was terrible. It was basically chopped veggies in a cup, no flavor, no seasoning, nothing. The potato salad was just ok, it was not your traditional mustard based (which I love) but different. It had some individual potato pieces in it, but also some pasty, mashed pieces, which took away from the dish. My dinner mate had the chicken, which was bad. The skin was tough and the inside juicy. It was difficult to eat and seemed undercooked, so it didn't come off the bone at all. read more

Came here with a girlfriend to meet up for her belated birthday celebration. A couple things - I was really hoping the chicken would be pulled - but unless you order the sandwich - the chicken is on the bone. I'm not a huge chicken-on-the-bone fan. So instead I when with the brisket and pulled pork combo. Both were very good, and I really enjoyed the sauces. I ordered the beans and Carolina slaw. I wasn't familiar with a Carolina slaw, so I was a little taken back by the spiciness and it wasn't exactly my favorite. The beans were delicious, however. And the only other sad part - NO CORNBREAD. Cornbread to BBQ is like shoelaces are to gym shoes. You just get a sad slice of white bread. Then they tempted me with peanut butter pie. It was chilled (kind of reminded me of like a frozen mousse) and I had a hard time trying to get thru it with my fork without shooting it across the room, but it was very, very tasty. It was a pleasure to work with Carly during our planning- she was so helpful, quick to respond and accommodating. Brent was there while we were setting up and actually went to Menard's to pick up the lights when I (subtly) hinted how great it would look. We also met Dr. Doshi who was just as nice. 1/20/2018 We stopped in after shopping in the hopes of having a great meal and a few drinks. Well that isn't what happened, Stephanie ordered pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and I had the prime rib with fries and potato chips. Well I am on a now carb diet so all I was going to eat was the prime rib it was ok, luke warm at best the flavor was ok, but the temperature was what really set me off parts of it were just cold, I ate it all anyway. I also didn't realize that it was 22.00 for that small of a cut of steak. Stephanie just didn't care for anything that she ordered, the server was fantastic and asked if everything was ok and I think she could tell but we aren't people that are going to complain and through a stink in the restaurant. If I were to make changes I would want to know that my steaks are the correct temp going out the table!! Ordered a 3-meat plate through Doordash, assuming it would be enough food for two people considering it was $30. Turns out it isn't enough food for one person. Five small pieces of cut up sausage, five small pieces of brisket, and THREE ribs. The two sides came in containers you would put sauce in. The meat was okay, the sides were bland, and two out of the five sauces were good. It's baffling that this place thinks that food was worth $30. Doc's is back and the barbecue is better than ever. A lot of restaurants are great the first few months and then slowly decline, not Doc's. They just keep getting better as far as barbecue goes. The wings, ribs, and pulled pork are outstanding. Unfortunately I am not a fan of the new coleslaw (bring back the old) and while I don't often get the mac and cheese, my kids prefer the old mac and cheese recipe. Tried them out today. It is very clean and well run inside. Upon entering you do not get the usual smoky wood smell of a smokehouse. We ordered and sat, the food was up in less than 10 minutes which is very fast. The portion sizes were good for the price. The problem is the lack of flavor in all. The meats are all very most but no smoky flavors. The Mac and cheese tastes like a frozen stouffers Mac with no flavor. The potato salad was good but very small amount. The chicken sandwich with potato salad was 14.00 and for that price you would expect more. I guess the lack of aroma upon entering should've been an indicator of the need for more wood to be used. read more

Now that places are opening up, we are trying out new places. This one we should have skipped. The chicken sandwich was fine, the coleslaw was vinegar and mayo. Note vinegar listed 1st because that is what flavor you get 1st. The fries? BORING, unless you pay 14$ to have them loaded up. AND then you get cheese from a can AND still need to salt them. The mac and cheese has so little flavor you should just skip it. Go for the sandwich and not the platter better value. Also dont forget to ask for bar-b-que sauce or you will have an absolutely flavorless meal. Obviously we will not be going back to spend another $50 on a meal like this. read more

In town for business and came here yesterday for lunch on the recommendation of a friend and she hit the nail on the head! Owner was born in Texas and raised in Alabama...He had Alabama White Sauce! Wings were fantastic! Best fried pickles I've had in a looooooong time...Mac N Cheese was creamy and the Brunswick Stew rivaled some of the best I've had too.
