Broccoli and feta omelette (substituted the Swiss cheese) with tomatoes, instead of potatoes.

My family and I have been here countless times. It's a classic, no fuss diner. The food is always great and affordable. Plus, they have tons of options to choose from. Our server was incredibly friendly, very attentive, and quick. Honestly, we've never had bad service. We went around 3pm, so it wasn't packed, but there were still a good amount of customers. Again, the diner isn't fancy, but it's always clean and the clientele and staff are always friendly

A simple family run diner. Clean. Decent prices. Large menu. I ordered once again takeout. My favorite entree: the breaded veal cutlet. It comes with mashed potatoes, a salad, choice of soup (I had the lemon rice) AND a dessert (I had the rice pudding). $16 total with tax. The salad is basic but fresh. I chose ranch dressing and it was fine. The soup is strong and hot. You can taste the lemon. It came with saltine crackers and two rolls. Very good. The breaded veal cutlet was HOT and covered in the best gravy. The potatoes were also great. Definitely recommend. Dessert was rice pudding. It came with a little whipped cream topping and cinnamon. Very good.

Visiting the area and my dad recommended this restaurant. It's a little country restaurant with comfort foods. It was very busy. It has about 30 tables I would estimate and there were plenty of servers. We were able to choose our own table and our server arrived quickly to offer coffee, Waters, whatever we would like to drink and menus were on the table when we were seated. The server was very nice and attentive the entire time. She quickly handled all of our requests and her assistant kept our cups full and plates removed when we were finished. The prices were the normal for these days - $10 to $20 per plate. I had the pork tenderloin which is different than I've had in other parts of the Midwest and it was tasty but it does not rate in the top of my experience. My dad had egg and potatoes which he said was very good. My sister had a Greek lemon chicken with rice which looked delicious. The portions were very large and we took half of our meals home. We started the meal with soup and my dad swears the navy bean soup is excellent but my sister insisted it was made with pinto beans. I had the lemon rice soup which was so sour I could not finish it. Overall a nice lunch. And would probably stop in again but it's not in the top restaurants in the area if you just passing through.

I have probably passed Top Notch Restaurant thousands of times because. Since I live close to two other restaurants within walking distance I go to the others. I am happy that I stopped in on Sunday. I was immediately greeted with a smile by the owners granddaughter Mia. When I entered it was like a blast from the past. There were so many people inside enjoying their meals. It is a Greek owned breakfast restaurant that has an amazing menu. The selections are great! While I sat at this retro counter, two longtime customers heard I had never been there and they offered their feedback and they spoke very highly about the restaurant. They provided me with some great recommendations. One of them also talked about the the excellent work ethics of the Owners. I had the pleasure of meeting one of the Owners Chris, as I was waiting for my meal and we had a nice chat. I learned about his background, and he brought me a cup of coffee, and I ordered a veggie omelette which came with potatoes & pancakes. I am very picky about my omelettes but this one was perfect! The ingredients were very fresh. I can't wait to go back again I have to take my dad there.

I got the two pork chops on the Boiler an the hash browns the food was Great pork chops moist and well seasoned I would return

    Burnt gyros

I went there and i placed an order to go. Ordered roughly about 6 things and not even half were edible. Our gyros was literally so dark and burnt you couldn't bite through it. The pork tenderloin was flavorless and tough I'm not sure how anyone would think serving this food would be acceptable. The only thing i would recommend out of the place is the soup. Every server in the place was coughing like crazy that i just stood by the door to wait for my order. They were nice but i didn't want to get sick along with my order. The manager or owner not sure who he was but didn't want to do a single thing. I asked him to show me something and he told me to ask someone else. On top of that for a " To go order" they have special prices and raise everything $2. Definitely will not be back.

Spinach and feta cheese omelette. Delish! Server: Dawn

Top Notch is a great restaurant! Everyday specials at reasonable prices with good food put to shame the local chain restaurants in the area. Top Notch is far better and leads a crowded competitive pack on the boulevard. Great split pea soup on Tuesdays! Great breakfasts and far less expensive than up the street! No other restaurant has Dawn, that unique, neat and fabulous waitress that works daily till midnight except Wednesdays, she's doing laundry! Friendly atmosphere and very welcoming to seniors who eat here daily!

Beware you may need reservations - especially on taco night Wednesdays..prime rib tacos are popular at around $3.50 each ala carte. Most of the food on the menu is NOT ala carte - you get a relish tray (beets, beans & cottage cheese) for the table, then a choice of soup or salad (not both), and your entree should come with a potato choice or veggies (pretty darn good veggies!). We had three different entrees: Walleye (special), Blue Gill + Frog Legs (Combo Platter) and the 20oz. Charred Prime Rib - Medium. We also had a few drinks: MGD, Cabernet, and an old-fashioned (I do not recommend the old-fashioned. Weak, too many ice cubes, not traditional). The frog legs were excellent. The blue gill had some bones (to be expected, but otherwise tasty), the Walleye was fresh and excellent. The Prime Rib was just okay. It was cooked well, and although a fairly fatty piece of meat, it lacked some flavor...but was slightly charred. The service was good...wait staff were overwhelmed with multiple tables in the back with one other person helping to clear tables, refill drinks, etc. It's a one and done for me. Not terrible, but also not excellent. BUT - if you are looking for an old school, darker, poorly decorated, cramped seating-style tables/booths - then this is for you!

But, the last three visits have been frustrating. The first time, the restaurant was not at all busy, but my order was given away to another guest by mistake, so I waited and waited. Two weeks ago, I ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger... and was served a California burger by mistake. I too a couple of bites before I realized the error. I just kept it but I did mention it to the manager. Today was the worst. Husband ordered a Barbeque Burger and I ordered a Chicken Wrap. Again, we waited... and waited. We were told our food would be out very soon. Twice. They brought my spouse's food out ...and brought me the wrong order. The server too the wrong order to the kitchen and several minutes later came out with my order. I tend to be very patient (retired middle school English teacher here), and I understand that the servers can't control the kitchen. But this was ridiculous. The manager didn't stop by, no offer of compensation, no apology. Won't be back for a while if ever.

I had a poor dining experience at this restaurant and will not be returning…read more I ordered a medium burger. When it arrived, I cut it in half to check the temperature and found it was overcooked and served cold. I sent it back expecting a fresh remake, but I was returned the same burger, already cut in half. It was clearly reheated rather than remade. The top bun was steamed and soggy, while the bottom was wet and hard in places. The lettuce was hot and wilted, which would not happen with a freshly prepared burger. Based on the condition of the food and other reviews mentioning similar issues, it strongly suggests the burger was microwaved rather than properly remade. My partner ordered a medium-rare steak for his NY skillet, but it came out tough and overcooked, showing a lack of attention to basic temperature instructions. There was also an order error: the French toast was missing from his order and only brought out later after we flagged it and checked the receipt. Our waitress did apologize and offered to have the burger remade, but given the quality of the first attempt, I did not feel confident the kitchen would prepare it correctly on a second try, so I declined. Management ultimately adjusted the ticket to resolve the issue. When we paid, the host/cashier did not ask whether we enjoyed our meal, which added to the impression that customer experience was not a priority. The only positives were the sweet potato fries and the lemon rice soup. Overall, this visit fell far below acceptable standards in both food preparation and service. I would not recommend this restaurant.
