Their food/brewery checks all the boxes; however, it's their service - going above and beyond - that sealed it for us. This is located right off the highway and amongst hotels making it a hotspot. It was ok I suppose. Beer was eh. The food looked good but we didn't get any as we weren't hungry. The clientele was mostly travelers which was a range of people. Staff acted like it was an issue to do their job. Not friendly, not attentive (I sat with an empty beer glass for 30 minutes). We ended up leaving soon after having a beer as we knew there were other places for locals like us to have a different experience. Give it a try. Maybe you will have a different experience. The brewery was right next to our hotel, so quite convenient. They also gave a 15% discount for those staying at the hotel. The food was pretty good. My salad was good, but there was a bit too much dressing and it took away from the flavor of everything else. My friend had the Italian beef and said it was excellent. Stopped in for a beer and some food. They were running a three course special for $25 that included salad, a roasted pork with veggies, and lastly a slice of pecan pie. The food was very good much better than I expected. I tried the hazy ipa which was also very good. The place was pretty crowded for a Tuesday evening but there is plenty of parking. The service was good. There are a couple of tvs to watch sports. Definitely a place to check out again. read more

We are South Carolinians on a road trip and stopped for the night in Hammond at the Holiday Inn. The desk clerk suggested Byway Brewing when we inquired about nearby places to eat supper. It was a lovely evening and we were able to walk on the sidewalk to the Brewery. We sat on the patio and were served by Genevieve who assisted us in choosing a delicious beer. The food was quite good and the service was wonderful. Genevieve was friendly, helpful, and went the extra mile, including giving us a suggestion for a local drive the following day. There are options for chain restaurants in the area, but if you are staying at one of the nearby hotels (or if you are local!), we encourage you to give them a try! read more

This place is across the street from my hotel, so I went for dinner once and beers another time. The food was pretty good. I had a roast beef sandwich (which ended up being somewhere between a Chicago-style Italian beef and a French dip). The fries were crispy and tasty, but cooked in beef tallow, so I can't do that too often. Their tropical IPA is good, and I haven't tried the others. Truly disappointed to leave this review BUT when 3 different weeks apart times happen well then there's an issue. FIRST called to place an order for pick up and was told no carry out containers they ran out... SECOND...called several around 530 pm and phone rang rang rang and no pick up...THIRD...called again for pick up order and was told sorry no more orders cause too busy. Hmmmm maybe this place needs more help and definitely better management. 3 times a charm and we are done with this place!! read more

The service is always great and friendly. They roll the menu around and switch things up but everything I have order has been fantastic.

I did a take out order of a howler of Stosh with a lonestar sandwich with the potato chips. The Stosh is an unfiltered polish Pilsner and the howler is a double pint. I drank about a pint waiting for my food, less than 15 minutes. I like this polish Pilsner, it's the first one I have ever had. It's a little hoppy but not overpowering. The lonestar sandwich was very good, I did have a slight craving for a hint of sweet when eating it. The home made chips are fantastic, cooked perfectly. I think the seasoning is Tajin based, it is amazing, like they should consider selling their seasoning blend. read more

It was very disappointing visiting Byway a few weeks ago. I loved their OG burger last time I came and unfortunately I did not get to try the Gamma 7 at the time since the menu has rotated. Instead of getting the delicious OG burger, I wanted to try the Incandescent Aporia. It was a bit of a pricier dish and sounded really good as I love udon noodles. Unfortunately, I ended up feeling extremely ill and throwing up after forcing it down. It was like if someone poured an entire bottle of store bought sauce all over it. I had others try it and they said it tasted like a Salisbury steak TV dinner. And they did not use udon noodles... when udon was the reason why I ordered it. I didn't want to waste money so I did what I could to eat it. I should have just not eaten it. My friend got the January sandwich of the month. We thought it looked good at first but he said it was so dry that he ate around 1/5th of it then didn't even want to take it home. And my boyfriend's flatbread barely had any flavor, which was actually shocking since it looked like it would with how colorful it was. It was a pretty disappointing experience which was very unfortunate. The only saving graces were the poutine and my other friend's OG burger. I was so grateful he let me take a bit of his burger to help me not be absolutely miserable. The only reason this is not a 1 star is because of the delicious OG burger and poutine. Steering away from the OG burger was the biggest mistake I made that night, and the few bites I had made sure I knew that. read more

Great place and a super nice environment. It's located right off the highway. One thing I want to point out in my review is how hard ALL the staff were working. I saw staff supporting each other, and I don't know why, but that really meant a lot to me. They brew their own beer as well as have guest taps, cocktails, mocktails, and sodas. Really nice open seating area inside and outside! I was seated right away and explained the difference beverages and menu options. I vouched for the chicken wings and the Oat Street Porter. I'm giving 4 stars because the BEER was the star. For reference, I also ordered carryout, so I didn't dine-in. I think the dine-in experience would be a better option - it was a beautiful evening, there are tables outside under a canopy and some in the sun, if that's your thing. They had the cornhole game and live music. Inside the main room, it's a bit loud. There is a large bar with plenty of seating around it. I do believe they offer event space too - because where the brewry is located there is tons of open space and great lighting there. The menu is pretty extensive, I checked online and ordered over the phone. The person who took my order was super nice and informative. She gave me options as I was choosing items. Even talked me into the 4-pack of beer instead of the "Crowler" which is 32 oz., but a few dollars more. The parmesan fries could have been crispier. Maybe some larger shreds of parmesan, it appears it was just the wood pulp kind that comes in the shaker bottles. Plus it up Byway - use real stuff and shred it on top with big flakes. The wings were interesting because they were different sizes. There was nothing uniform about them. The taste was good. Not crispy enough. The slaw wasn't that great. But to be fair, I'm not a fan of slaw anyway. Let's talk Pork Loin Sandwich - the Ballbricker! I've had plenty of Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches - plenty - this ranks pretty HIGH on my list. It was definitely oversized, seasoned well, the pickles were fantastic they put on the sandwich - the weird thing is they advertise a Brioche bun, and I ended up with two bottoms - no top for me. Weird. It was pretty darn good! The service here appeared to be great...as I did carry out - I hate that you always have to "go to the bar" to pick up your food. It's another wait in my opinion, when some places just have your food near the door so you can "carry out" quickly. But - the bartender was cool. I tipped him. Now - the beer was EXCELLENT. I don't like mainstream beers - I love the micro breweries. I also like fruit beers. So I tried the "Orange is the new Wheat" and it is definitely a "wheat" beer, but very tasty and refreshing. I would get it again. They also served me the 4-pack chilled. It wasn't COLD, just chilled. So I put the others in my beverage fridge for later. I would go back - definitely. This time I will bring friends and we will try a flight along with some additional appetizers and entrees. The food at byway was so good, I had to go back another time! The pizza is great, an interesting choice of apricot drizzle really hits the bbq pizza out of the park! Each night, my table finished the meal with a pour of the fruited ports. A great dessert for a great meal. Service was a little slow the first night but it was busy so I understand! Brewery rushes always slow the food service down. Not to worry, our server was on top of our pints and they never ran empty while we waited for food! Byway brewing is very spacious. Great size parking lot and plenty of of indoor/outdoor seating. The day we tried it out there was a wedding happening. So unfortunately most of the outdoor seating was blocked for the private event. We were forced to sit inside, which was ok because it was a warm day. But shortly after sitting we realized they had two large garage screen doors open. Making the entire inside VERY warm. We were sweating the entire meal. The beers were good. I had the berry farm stand and my fiancé had the CHI.P.A. We ordered some appetizers to hold us over. The fries were simple but had a good taste, the biggest disappointment was the pretzel. It stated it would come with beer cheese, and by the looks of previous posts and the passed appetizers from the wedding I think our cheese may have missed the heating up stage. read more
