Delicious Old Fashioned made by bartender Dominique. She's awesome

There's a room next door called The Other Room and it's very lovely with a vintage vibe. I dig it. Only think I'm not a big fan of is the sports tv. I mean it's a cute place that doesn't feel like a tv belongs here but whatever. I am here on St. Patrick's day and I know the tradition is green beer but I'm here for an Old Fashioned. I'm a whiskey girl!! I switched out the bourbon for Rye, Dominique (my bartender) suggested that I have some cherry juice in there and that sounded delicious. She was very pleasant and I enjoyed the service. I still need to get some food here but I usually want to spend my money on booze! :-) The place is very clean. Despite it being St. Patrick's it's not very busy but it's only 4:40 pm It can get loud in here so if noise bothers you a bit you might want to try using some sort of earplug. I have sensory issues so sometimes I like to know if the place is loud so I thought I would add that info. The last few times I've been here it's been really nice and not loud at all.

My first visit to this place was five years ago, when this brewery first started. There have been some improvements to the interior, and many more beers have been added. I buy the Pils and the Hunter coco-vanilla milk stout beer from the grocery store in Crown Point, so when I come here I want to try their seasonal beer. The wheat beers are very good. My dog and I completed the Miller Woods trail in the nearby Dunes. Now I was hungry and thirsty. I had ordered a deepdish pizza to go from the pizza place across the tracks and didn't even realize that this place now serves food. I sat at the bar and had Nate serve me. It was mid afternoon and the place wasn't too busy. The patio is dog-friendly so I brought my dog Zeke in and sat outside to enjoy my beer on a picnic table. Kendall, one of the employees, came to give me a waterbowl for Zeke. He was busy enough working the backroom, and his extra attention to detail was appreciated. I stayed long enough to enjoy two varied wheat beers, then left when my deepdish pizza was ready next door. I thanked both Kendall and Nate for their fine service and even complemented them, because the service I got at the Hammond location a few weeks earlier was nowhere near as attentive as the service I got at this place. The music that plays in the background at this location is also much more pleasant to the ears. "Yeah, we hear that a lot!" said Kendall. Ironically, Kendall's picture is not on the brewery's website under "team" [members]. His picture should be there! He may not be part of the brewing team, but he works at the brewery, engages with customers, and is by far the best-looking man working there! Kudos to Kendall. He rocks.

Outdoor patio! Walk up to the kitchen window and order.

Fantastic service. Our server and bartender Steve was quite lovely and really took care of us. The limited menu approaches food with quality and execution first. Really enjoyable bar food and a cool and clean place to hang. We even ran into some friends, it seems like the local spot. Next time we visit from Chicago I see us coming back absolutely. The house made hot sauce was so frickin good I wish I could take a bucket of it home. The best part was cooling off after a long day at the lake to hydrate with some tasty sours + sharing laughs with really nice staff

You are beautiful. That was the first sign I saw when I was looking for 18th Street Brewery. It is located across from the tracks from Miller Pizza Co. There's a gravel lot across the street from the brewery. There were a few people sitting by the bar when I walked in and the bartender greeted us. They had pints, willis, flutes, snifters on tap ranging from $5-$6. They also offer $15 beer flights and carry out. I ordered the big ass pretzel with beer cheese because I couldn't resist for $4. However, when the bill came, it cost $6 and I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned this to the bartender since he had no idea it was ringing up that way. The pretzel was ok (tasted more like a bread bowl than a pretzel) and the cheese was bland. The $6 bacon mac was pretty good. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . ( ` - ` - ' - ' ' - - - ' ' ( _ / . _ ) - ' ( _ \ _ )

Wow. The chips and salsa are so fresh and such nice heat from the salsa. The tacos so good and the bread pudding is to kill for. The menu changes but the quality of the food is outstanding.

Good beer, friendly service, a good amount of seating = a must stop in NW Indiana. I had (maybe 2 ) of the Rise of the Angels. My favorite double IPA I've had sooo good and so smooth.

I think my expectations for 18th Street were too high. Their beer, pretty damn good. Emphasis on damn. Their brewery/tap room? Ehhh... Perhaps I shouldn't have started out my day at Greenbush, but I did. While their beer isn't always 100, their brewery is cozy and it's Michigan, so they're really earthy and friendly and for some reason I find that charming. Anyhow, we stopped here on the way back this time and I walked in and....Gary. Alright. Whatever. Beer is good so I'll be happy, right? Ehhh... The bartender kept talking about how busy it was, but I had to keep looking around to find whatever crowd she meant because I think at most 2 people would come up and wait. In fact the whole reason a whole 2 people waited was because the bartenders purposely wouldn't turn around. Whatever, I sat there enjoying my fresh ass beer in what felt like the local VFW, if the local VFW was sky blue. Or ocean blue. Or whatever blue that was. If "small town" was their intent, they succeeded. The bar stools were terrible, even with all my natural padding. I guess that's how they keep people rotating. I finally headed to the bathroom and when I left I noticed a whole additional room that resembled a cafeteria at my elementary school. It definitely had a different feel to it. I've seen some basic ass breweries, but even Tighthead pulled it together enough to have a decent looking tap room with bartenders who could handle an actual rush, and they don't even serve food, let alone overpriced food. I guess I can say their attention is clearly on the beer, and at least it pays off in that regard. Glad I finally got to check out 18th Street, but I doubt I'll be rushing back any time soon.

This place has become the Chuck E. Cheese of breweries. The entire front room is formally advertised as "kid friendly" and there's even a children's menu, including a $5.00 PB&J. Sharing a bar, tavern, tasting room, or saloon with children is one of my biggest pet-peeves and usually a deal breaker. Also, carry-ins from local restaurants like Miller Pizza Station or Miller Bakery Cafe are no longer allowed since 18th Street now offers a limited menu of overpriced sandwiches. Bummer...the food from the aforementioned restaurants is much more desirable. The beer at 18th is just OK and rotates constantly...if you find a favorite, don't expect to enjoy it the next time you're there. The ideology at 18th is more like a glorified homebrewer's playground rather than an established tap house or tasting room; just a bunch of expensive experimental beers without much consistency. The bartenders are super chill and very friendly but the owner has a temper. I don't usually get personal on Yelp, but as a business person, he probably shouldn't take comments about his establishment so personally nor should he whine so publicly. In my opinion, a place like Greenbush in Sawyer, MI has a much more positive, lucrative, and inviting business model. Although 18th Street is just over a mile from my house and one of the very few nightlife options in Miller, I'm taking a break from it. That's saying a lot considering a) I enjoy going out regularly b) most of my friends love to imbibe at 18th Street and c) I'm even a Local One-Eight (mug club) member. Instead, you can find me at the Bakery Cafe or the Flamingo, whom I will gladly continue to support.

Galaxy Slayer - Double IPA, delicious!

If I was hosting a beer awards ceremony and was handing out an award for "Beer of the Year" it would go to 18th Street - Deal with the Devil followed by a "Best in Show" for - Galaxy Slayer. Both of these beers I can't stop thinking about. Deal with the Devil is incredibly aromatic. Can this be made into a cologne? Very crisp, nice dry hop finish, lots of tropical fruit! I'm basically in love with this American Pale Ale. I only purchased two bombers when I stopped in and wished I would have purchased more. I also have a high appreciation for this breweries overall creativity, packaging design, and showcase of local art. At my recent visit they were highlighting Anthony Lewellen, simply gorgeous work that (to me) plays into the urban landscape of the city. His work really ties into the graffiti street theme that works perfectly with this breweries niche. You will find art all around this brewery including the outdoor patio. Lot's of eye candy to enjoy! When you visit be sure to check into what is available for carryout, details can also be found online. They sell by the can, bottle, and 32oz howler. Be sure to stock up! They also have excellent merchandise (love their caps), musical features on the weekend, and the outdoor patio is pet friendly, each pet will receive water and a dog treat. We're from Indianapolis and this is well worth the 2:30 hour drive! Cheers to 18th Street! Thank you for being awesome and making some of the most excellent beer in this state!

I figured since 3 Floyd's Brewing is not really open to the public, per se. And the Dark Lord Day…read moreis its own entity I would specifically review it on its own merits. I must preface by saying I have wanted to do this event for a long, long time. But alas work has made it nearly impossible to do. Time becomes a commodity as you get older. It's do or die. The latter is inevitable. Not knowing how this festival works I studied Yelp reviews. I joined a DLD Facebook to find helpful tips. Both were extremely helpful. It is basically a musical festival, a giant bottle share and people dressed as warlocks all in one. There are three levels of admission: VIP Deluxe, GA and one with just for the concert. Depending on your budget each has it pros and cons. Me, my suggestion is to get the VIP Deluxe. It is crazy expensive and goes fast. However, I believe it is the best option. So I got the regular GA, which is $200 hundred bucks. You get 4 DLD variant stouts and admission to the concert. Maybe to the casual festival goer this will seem alot. Once you get here you will experience something unique. A week or two before the event happens they mail you wristbands. Do not put them on. There is a QR Code which you have to attach a credit card to. It is a cashless event. It's just like the Sail and Sign on a Cruise Ship in theory. As you buy drinks, merch or food you use the wristband to pay for them. A quick few pro-tips. Do not bring lawn chairs. Know that you are going to stand most of the time. Before I go on, let me rewind a bit. The parking situation is not dire but get there as early as you can. Local businesses offer parking for $20 bucks. We were able to find parking within walking distance to the festival. Here came the kicker for me, they had a guy doing a DLD tailgate party. It's like a normal tailgating party but with free to sample beers. He had things I have only heard of in tales of lore. My next pro-tip is to bring a small plastic sample glass. Once you arrive staff is there to put on your wristbands for you. And they check all ID'S. You are allowed to bring in some beer and an unopened bottle of water. Bring the water! I will say the logistics and mechanics of it run really smoothly. The staff are extremely super friendly and helpful. Having only seen 3 Floyd's in pictures it is more vast than I had imagined. Every nook and cranny was filled with something of interest. There were tap spaces everywhere. Vendors. Food trucks. In the center of it all was a Viking Court, with the largest bottle share I have ever seen. They had a thing called, "The Wheel of Death." For twenty-five bucks you spin a wheel similar to "Wheel of Fortune." You can win beer, merch or even your name etched onto a keg. I thought about doing it but the wait was already a couple of hours in. Most of your time here will be spent standing in line for something. For beer. Food. Restrooms. The merch lines were insane. Fortunately for you when this happen there are lots of people dying to share their brought in beer. I will say a great deal of the drinks I had were from beer sharers. For the most part festival goers were friendly. However, there is finite seating here. Which makes the VIP Deluxe option more enticing. After a while I wanted to sit somewhere. Since seating is sparce I saw groups monopolizing available benches. For example a bench that could fit ten people was instead filled with 3 harboring stuff. You would eye a bench and people would place a hat, a bag to prevent you from sitting with them. I get it. My biggest critique is that they need to let festival goers bring in folding chairs. For example I saw people in various stages of drunkenness: stumbling or even passed out. Letting people bring in folding chairs would allow them to cool down. It would also create a more laid back vibe. It certainly has the space to do so. Quickly before I write more volumes the musical entertainment is extreme metal. The dance floor is filled with moshers and headbangers. If you are expecting bossa nova jazz you will be disappointed. By and large I did enjoy this event. Will I recommend it to someone? Absolutely. Will I do it again? Probably not. It's a young person's world now. The Dark Lord Day is a very, very unique experience. And I believe we should fill our lives with them. Was that a dude dressed as a wizard at the festival or was it in fact Gandalf? After a few stouts you won't know the difference.

I returned here with the son on 5-18-2024 for 2024's Dark Lord Day.  It was actually the first time…read moreI've made it here for the annual and coveted event as the only other time I came for Dark Lord was with him for an atypical Covid era pickup only event. The event is pretty pricey and it's definitely a beer geek special as it costs $200 for admission plus rights to a tote bag containing one 2024 Dark Lord and three Dark Lord variant bombers (each 22 oz).  This year was the 20th anniversary Dark Lord Day and they've been doing it for a long time and it's very organized, at least as far as making sure you're credentialed for admittance.  It will still cost $15 - $30 to park nearby, but they do have some shuttle buses to remote parking locations.  We got there at 9am for our pre-purchased Group A designated time slot but later in the day, there will be more people, with more lines for everything, including the few foodstands on site.  I can't imagine any lines for port-o-potties though as there were millions of those and that's a good thing.  Heavy metal bands were scheduled to play from 1:30pm to 8pm, but we didn't stay for any of that.  I just had a nice 4 oz serving of the 2024 Dark Lord (for $10) while we were there and then we left with the goods.  We stood briefly in a line next to a couple that flew in from San Jose CA just for the event.  One staffer also told me a guy came in from Italy supposedly just for this event.  I really did enjoy the people-watching of these quite serious beer geeks, and that was probably the real highlight of visiting in person on this special day.  My only advice if you're going to a Dark Lord Day for any length of time on a sunny day is to bring a hat, sun screen, and a designated driver!
