Crazy good man! Us three guys dropped in after a dunes day. Quite hungry though hesitant to try fish in the Midwest, when one has tasted any gulf restaurant catch of the day, shows what the stuff should taste like, becomes difficult to live so far from the Atlantic. But the high reviews lured us in. And boy! This place has it all albeit quite small portions. A great date spot I bet. Fun little tiki inspired bar surrounded by quaint tables, we perched up and soon had the great staff bringing us a bloody Mary, painkiller, and mojito. Again what a win, I now have the ideal Bloody Mary skewered with bacon and a burnt chicken wing to judge all other breakfast cocktails by. The others enjoyed theirs as well. We went basic with jerk chicken, salmon, and shrimp curry. Curry was quite a small plate, surprising compared to the large jerk chicken pile. Quickly forgot. Any complaints trying the rice, so good! Whatever magical chef skills go down here I want to learn. Even with our range of restaurants between us three the rice was something new and exciting, who knew rice could do that. Cheesecake for the end was tiny. Sad cup looked funny with three spoons round it. Small matter, come try the rice, we were excited to make up for the overpriced below average coffee in Hobart with this place, can easily recommend Montego! read more

My wife and I hosted our Children for their anniversary and Christmas celebration here. We had a GREAT time. The owner stopped by the table to say hello and congratulations. What a gentleman. Great dinner, I had the jerk salmon and I was able to add just the right amount of heat, the salmon was cooked to perfection. My wife had the jerk chicken and it was tender and moist with a crisp skin. The servers were very accommodating and mixed a cocktail not on their menu. For dessert we had the key lime cheesecake which was just the right size for two, creamy, and not too sweet. They were well seasoned and the sauce that was served with them was delicious! The jerk chicken was good and the sauce served with it brought the heat. First time. My Dad wanted Jerk Chicken, which was phenomenal. So much food. I had the Jerk pork. It comes with vegetables and rice and beans. And let me tell you about these rice and beans. Wow! So good. The pork was so juicy and tender. The jerk spice isn't crazy spicy but does pack some heat. The vegetables were equally tasty and delectable. They were tender and had such good flavor. We also had the Jerk Salmon. Hands down the best salmon I've had in a long time. It's a decent portion size and so tasty. We ate every last bite!!! It was super cozy inside. Great service. We were informed that there would be approximately a 30-minute wait, but considering that waiting is typical for places serving jerk cuisine, we didn't mind. The chef even came out to apologize for the delay, which we appreciated. Our waitress was exceptionally pleasant. I usually order strawberry daiquiris, but they weren't listed on the drink menu. However, she went the extra mile and made me a strawberry margarita instead, using a puree that gave it a daiquiri-like flavor. It was delicious, and I gave it two thumbs up. The ambiance of the place gave off a strong Jamaican vibe, which we found very appealing. We will definitely be returning for another visit. read more

The service was great even though I placed an order through Uber eats. I tried to place an order through door dash but it wouldn't let me. So I called and they informed me they were on Uber eats so I placed my order there. The meal I wanted wasn't on there so I called and they changed it and advised me there may be an up charge. So I was under the impression this was authentic Jamaican food. So when the food arrived it was still warm and it looked really good. However, it is missing Jamaican flavor, taste, seasoning and spices. I should've known when I didn't have oxtails on the menu and offered crab cakes. The food isn't nasty but it's not real Caribbean food. The cakes was pretty good but it was missing a cherry. read more

Delicious food, attentive wait staff, personable chef. My mom and I went to dinner here after seeing favorable reviews and we're not disappointed. We got the crab cake (so delish, especially with the spicy avocado sauce), the jerk salmon, and the lobster ravioli. In addition we ordered a few coconut and mango margaritas that we really enjoyed. This quaint little place had a perfect menu, especially if you are a sea food lover. Our waitress was pleasant & very knowledgeable. She was extremely respectful when she approached the table, waiting until we were done with our conversations before she spoke. I ordered the Mahi Mahi. It was a generous portion and so beautifully plated. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious. I also had 2 peach martinis & they were dynamite! My husband ordered the Coconut Shrimp Curry. He said it was the best rice & beans he has ever had and the shrimp were deliciously outstanding! Walking in downtown Hobart led us to this small but mighty Jamaican style restaurant. The menu was quite small, but we definitely found a few items that caught our eye. We tried their 3 appetizer options: the shrimp tacos, crab cakes, and the jerk wings. The wings had great flavor and were very meaty! The tacos were good, use the jerk sauce with it! And the crab cakes were probably our favorite of the three; full lump cakes with a nice crunch, that paired well with the spicy avocado sauce. The only thing we weren't a huge fan of was the interior of the restaurant itself. I believe there's a back patio, but it was raining so we didn't get a chance to try it out.. we will next time! read more

WHOA !!! This place is truly a gem in the heart of downtown Hobart. The star of the show is owner Tedian who has endless personality. His restaurant is small, clean, and nicely decorated with Jamaican flair. I ordered Fried Plantains and they were easily the best I've ever had. Tedian then mixed a fantastic drink which was one of his specialties, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. Montego Bay Grille is now my most anticipated stops whenever I'm in town. The chicken wrap and crab cake salad were delicious. Not to brag, but I have eating many in my lifetime and this wrap is now #1 on my eats list. The crab cake was a real CRAB cake (not like other places where the cake is more filling than crab). The service is also outstanding.
