    I. Just stopped in for some carryout, but this looks like it would be a great place to dine in or just have some drinks. The place is huge so I can't imagine ever having to wait for a table or a spot at the bar. The BBQ was pretty good as was the mac & cheese (gotta have good sides if you want to call yourself a 'cue joint, right?).

Yummy brisket, sauces, mac & cheese, links, wings! Turkey was good but pork was kinda uneventful. Nice people!

These people have some of the best brisket in the area, and I am glad they come to pierogi Fest in Whiting! Yummy! My friends loved the wings and the mac and cheese. The sauces are pretty good. The wings were great but the turkey was better than the average with the pork below average. I would definitely come again!

This is always a great spot for us when we're craving barbecue and want to stay close to home! The food is always delicious. The biggest plate of fries you will ever see in your life resides here. Service is warm and welcoming. Veronica is typically our server, and she is absolutely awesome. There is plenty of table and bar height seating, or you can sit up at the bar. In the summer, enjoy the outdoor patio area.

Great spot for good bbq in NWI. I have been coming here for few years now whenever I crave bbq and never left disappointed. Their beer selection is decent but their bourbon selection is well above average for this area. Check out their weekend specials. Sunday all day burnt ends is my favorite. Plenty of free parking but in certain event days it does fill up.

Stopped here as we were in the area. Not sure how or why this is highly rated as we were highly disappointed. But I will start positive....The place has plenty of parking and note that the entrance is near the rear. It is a huge place with high and low seating and the bar area. Our waitress, Sierra, was very nice and answered questions we had on the menu. Place was clean in the eating area. Huge selection of beer if that is your thing. We ordered the smoked onion dip. Sierra let us know it was not traditional onion dip as they use red onion. Sounded interesting. It was not. There were huge chunks of onion and nothing was smoky about it. Lacked any flavor other than when you bit into the onion. It came with homemade chips that thankfully were not greasy. Next, our entrees came and we ordered the upcharge for 2 extra ribs. There are 5 bbq sauces on the table to choose from-I used the tangy and sweet to make something that I liked. I got the special which was the burnt ends with sides of collard greens and mac and cheese. The greens had too much vinegar so I could not even eat them. As for the mac and cheese-there was no amount of salt and pepper to help them. The cheese was a creamy tasteless offering. I keep garlic in my purse and I didn't even pull it out as it was beyond help. The burnt ends were a special that night and quality was mixed-some good and tender and some awful like biting into tofu. My friend had the ribs and the brisket baked beans. The ribs were actually tender, tasted okay and I believe they were steamed which gave them the fall off the bone help. However, those baked beans had seen better days. It was just mush and so dry. Overall, meat is okay and sides and apps need a lot of help.

I wanted to go to a place that I'd never been before so I decided on Doc's Smokehouse in Dyer, Indiana. My server's name was Aaliyah and she was very helpful; she explained the menu ( both food and drink ) in great detail. I asked what she would recommend for a 1st timer ; she was able to give me many endless options. I decided to start with a Hurricane drink; then I ordered the Buddy Guy Sandwich with baked beans. You all already know that I had to get French fries as well. The baked beans are called Bacardi Baked Beans and they were delicious. Doc's is very roomy, nice full bar , friendly staff and superb chefs in the kitchen. My sandwich was Amazing...the pulled pork was so tender that it literally melted in my mouth; hot link was tender as well. I couldn't imagine how I would eat the sandwich at first but Aaliyah explained it perfectly. Overall experience is Definitely 5 Stars. They have Happy Hour (twice daily) and also offer a Super Brunch.

Being a huge fan of BBQ I was excited to try out Doc's. Giant place with lots of seating. Came in around 6:45 for dinner and was sat on the inclosed patio area. They were busy in the 21plus area, inside. Ordered what's shown in the photos, overall I would give everything a 3 out of 5. Mac & cheese, Texas fries, pork rib, smoked wings, and the brisket sandwich. The watermelon margarita was a 10/10 though. Service was a bit slow as well. Wasn't great but wasn't bad. But I probably won't come back.

I've been here twice now in two years and forgot to do a review the first time. I don't come here often as it is an hour and a half drive for me and we'l worth it! Both times being here and over the course of two years service has been absolutely on point. While both visits were doing some pretty slow times of the business even though it was during lunchtime, I will say that the staff is definitely on their game. It is great that finding parking here is not a challenge and it is a huge parking lot even though the property shares the commercial space with other businesses The menus, pretty straightforward as far as barbecue options are concerned. And everything is delicious. We usually order a few items off the menu for two people so that it is sufficient and somehow we always end up with leftovers The alcohol and beer menu is just as expensive with great selection. The craft cocktails from the bar also delicious. Pricing here is fair and decent and considering that it's an Indiana you're not paying Illinois restaurant food tax of 11% Love coming back here and will continue to do so.

This review is based on the food they served from a food truck at the Sacred Rose Music festival. We got an order of loaded fries to split, and it was a bargain for the amount of food we got. There was brisket, barbeque sauce, chilis, queso, and probably other delicious things that really hit the spot. I've not been to the restaurant but if these fries are any hint, I'd love to try it soon!

I've never heard of this place! Nice atmosphere, attentive staff. Loved the Mac and cheese and meats. The greens a little too vinegary for my taste but hubby loved them!

On the holidays you have to carry out only I did not know that when I ordered but after I had already ordered, they let me know. I live nearby, so I figured that was fine. The place has been there for a long time. It did have a greasy spoon look. The inside needs an update. They need an update on that but at the same time if their main focus is food and most people don't care I guess keep it the same. The ladies waiting on me were friendly, but also seemed a little confused on what they were to do. The one lady said she was new, so I get it. I got a pulled pork sandwich, french fries, and they were out of their potato salad, so I got coleslaw which cost $1.50. When my husband and I got to the car I looked in the bag and saw that the coleslaw was literally two bites. I went to the local grocery store and got $.75 worth of coleslaw, which gave me a lot more. I personally like to put the coleslaw on top of my pulled pork. I got home and was very impressed with the pulled pork sandwich. The sandwich was huge and piled full of meat. It was a very good price and they gave you a lot of french fries as well. The only thing that I was a little bummed about was that their $1.50 coleslaw that I ate and two bites was actually pretty terrible. It was very dry and bland. I'm glad I went to the grocery store to get creamy coleslaw because the stuff they sell really isn't worth that price. Anyway, I would still come back for a pulled pork sandwich or a big pork chop because their meat has a great taste to it and the barbecue sauce was good. Pulled pork was nice and tender and delicious.

The only thing that was good was the Dr Pepper, garlic toast and the smoked turkey was ok. Maybe it's my fault for ordering later in the night, because nothing tasted fresh. To be a little fair in this review, I did order from DoorDash for delivery. The delivery took an extremely long time so much. I had to complain about the DoorDash driver. However, the food quality was very poor. The brisket was tough. The chicken was a smaller portion than I thought. The okra was decent, but very salty. And the barbecue sauce was great so that was probably the best part, the spicy was extremely spicy though. I also ordered the side of mac & cheese. I've had better mac & cheese, many other places, but it was OK. It also came with a side of toast, but that wasn't anything to write home about. If you're looking for good barbecue, there's so many other places that have better barbecue than a place that has barbecue title such as dickies. I do have to say the dickies barbecue in Texas at most locations are 10 times better.

To get there from DeKalb by air, I had to dog-leg the flight over Cushing Field (to stay out of the Aurora and Lockport airspace) and then head east from there. Important note for pilots: If you are landing, try to make it to 9/27, or you'll have a long taxi up to the terminal where the restaurant is at. Once you are there (by AIR), you'll go to the far left end of the big building (you can see the beer signs in the window). Make sure you remember the CTAF (you'll need it to get back on the airport), and go through the gate, go up the elevator, and walk into the restaurant. Ambiance-wise, this place has large windows, a very large bar, a Namco Ms. Pac Man / Galaga game, bathrooms that are reasonably clean, some gambling machines, and decent food. I ordered their Pulled Pork Sandwich, which came with french fries. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Plate, which came with cole slaw, garlic toast (2 pieces) and a green bean caserole. I ordered the pulled Pork Sandwich, and I ordered it spicy. It was not spicy by any definition. The amount of barbeque sauce provided was around a 1/2 of a shot glass. It was not enough. With that said, the barbeque was dry and needed the barbeque sauce. The fries were nice and fresh. My wife had the Pulled Pork Dinner. I sampled her cole slaw (with paprika, very good) and the green bean casserole - which seemed to use canned green beans, ugh. Very soft, the mouth feel was b l a h. Service was solid. I should've taken a photo cause it was a little startling, and unfortunate that they expressed so openly their political position and hate for Wokeness. I've heard some stories how they are true MAGA and slightly racist, but you have to experience it for yourself. You have to give a place a chance. And it saddens me the way I was treated on my second time back. Folks everywhere are just so sad and upset these days, every life has been disrupted in someway the last 10 years for multiple reasons. It's stressful out here, but it's also stressful trying to get good quality food with all the regulation changes. I travel out of the country multiple times a year and American food is just the worst. So I'll keep searching for quality in both the product and in the customer service.
