Came here because well this is the name of one of my sons. They have a really nice size dessert collection right before your eyes. I tried a few things and here are the results: pretzel (really good, ate it as is, would probably have been excellent if I would of waited until I got home and heat it up), cinnamon roll (also really really good, probably the best donut I had here), raspberry jelly filled (also really good), sour cream (good not great), and chocolate chip cookie (not very good at all). Overall good bakery, would come again mainly for the pretzel and cinnamon roll. Also prices are good in my opinion. read more

I just got back from a lunch time visit. I like to try the Cheese Danish at every bakery I encounter, and after passing DJ's for a few months on my morning commute I have been pretty excited to see what they have to offer. I was not disappointed! The cheese danish was awesome! One of the biggest I have encountered, super soft, and the filling was quite tasty. The highlight ended up being the Ham & Cheese stuffed pretzel. I picked it because I wanted something more savory since it was lunch. It was hot, gooey, and delicious! The pretzel wrapper was flavorful and you never lost the taste of it even against the ham and cheese. It was a perfect little pick-me-up. I've had doughnuts from DJ's Bakery a couple of times in the past when coworkers brought them into the office. You can't get much better than their glazed or jelly-filled doughnuts: light and airy with just the right amount of sweetness. Today was the first time I visited the bakery itself. The owner was welcoming and kind. She prepared a Vietnamese iced coffee as I surveyed the baked goods selection. I decided on a ham and cheese pretzel, a glazed doughnut, and a raspberry jelly-filled doughnut. The owner heated up the pretzel as I paid (credit cards accepted). She kept the display case spotless and was bringing out batches of fresh doughnuts. It's clear the staff works hard, and the proof is in the product. The owner said the Vietnamese iced coffee was strong, so she advised me to drink it slowly throughout the day. The coffee delivered--just a few sips gave me the jolt I needed on a Saturday morning. With condensed milk, it's an indulgence that might be too much for some people, but it satisfied my giant sweet tooth. The ham and cheese pretzel was tasty. Filling without being too heavy. And, of course, the doughnuts were as good as always. Can't wait to return. I saw Thai iced tea on the menu, which sounded tempting, but as a creature of habit, I'll probably stick with the iced coffee. As a Bavarian living in the US, I have grown very pessimistic of big pretzels after many disappointments. I had to give it a shot though when I noticed their trademark dark color, which most American bakers shy away from. Honestly the best donuts in Michigan. They may not have the fancy sprinkles, toppings like other more well known shops around Michigan but they taste magical. Growing up in California, local family owned Donut shops were plenty but as I moved to Michigan I couldn't find any that tasted like home until I went to DJ's. These donuts are light, airy, fluffy and so delicious! Thier pretzels are amazing too, so I'd suggest you buy a few when you buy your donuts also. I dont understand why all the rave reviews or maybe i caught the owner on a bad day but she was rude, rushed us and then argued with us when we asked why something was not made the way it is traditionally made and should state it. I cannot attest to how amazing this place is, but one thing that stands out for me personally are their Boston Crème donuts. They have two kinds: the more typical Boston crème with custard filling and another one with a crème that is more like a frosting texture (I think Bavarian crème is the term?) Regardless, both are delicious. I recommend coming here early as after noon many of their things are sold out. This is definitely a spot for a morning run. read more

OK - we've been to this place at least 10 times now. The police get their donuts here, just saying. I usually see a police car outside - not criminal incidents, but for belly filling goodness. I had seen reviews for DJ's Bakery some time ago when looking for a place nearby to get donuts and thought it might be worth a try. My husband, born and raised in A2, swore that I needed to try Dimo's first. Well, today was the day. I had been craving donuts for a while and off to Dimo's I went. From my parking space, I saw the line inside and being short on time, did not want to deal with that. Then, I remembered DJ's and off I went. Walking in there was one person in front of me. She was helped swiftly, and it was my turn. I chose a dozen donuts for my family (Apple fritters, chocolate raised, raised, long john's, a chocolate cake) and was out the door in no time. Service was perhaps not very warm, but business was steady and I appreciated how quickly she was helping people. Once home, I chose the long john. OMG! It was truly delicious! The custard was silky and perfect. I have never had a long john and immediately wished I could justify eating another... until now. DJ's has a variety of generously sized doughnuts that are always very fresh. Getting there early will give you the best selection. The glaze on the glazed doughnuts is the perfect thickness, and they are light and melt in your mouth.
