Sand, water, tides -- you know, beach stuff. The staff was friendly and professional, also worked calm and cool with fast service despite how busy it was on this summer day. Knowing the menu, tap menu and drink specials, they were able to guide us into the perfect round of drinks. Sadly, we did not eat here so I cannot comment on the food. But from the looks of the people eating around me and the smells it was top-notch.

The staff is so sweet and accommodating. My friends and I were here a few years back and sat at the corner table outside. Our waitress didn't hesitate to prep the table for us when we requested to sit there again. When I was here a few years back, they had nachos and they were probably the best I've ever had. Been thinking about them ever since. Petition to bring the nachos back!

I found that odd but okay, we went with breakfast as some of our party didn't love the lunch menu. I got the avocado toast and the bread wasn't toasted? That was disappointing and honestly made the slice soggy. Nothing was seasoned except the potatoes, so the avocado and eggs were in desperate need of salt and pepper. I feel like when you order this kinda meal there's at least flavor to the mashed avocado. The potatoes were pretty good. Service was fast but almost felt like they weren't on the same page, but it's a beach town with kids working so you give a little leniency.

Yikes! This time, I ordered the Bayside Trio (I think that was the name). One Lump Crabcake over a bed of yellow rice, 3 grilled shrimp, and 2 baked clams served with charred broccoli. Can I just say that the broccoli was one of the best part of the meal? I think that speaks volumes. Where to begin? Lets just get the worst of it out of the way. The Lump Crabcake- (lump Crabcake generally implies that the crab is of good quality) -wasn't. No chunks of crab meat-just mush. Was it the same as the "Maryland Crabcake" listed in the appetizer section? The waitress said yes. Let me tell you, it was NOTHING like a Maryland Crabcake. I'm actually embarrassed for Bayside Clambar for trying to pass off this little crabby patty as a Maryland crab cake. If I was Maryland, I'd sue Bayside for defamation and slander, for them trying to pass their sad little clump of whatever-it-is as a Maryland Crabcake! To me, that was the worst offense, that sad little stepsister...nay, distant cousin ... to the mighty Maryland Crabcake. As if that wasn't bad enough, it was pretty god-awful to eat. I left half of the pathetic little thing on my plate. The shrimp? Undercooked and tough. I left 1 1/2 of the 3 of them on my plate. The rice? Meh, but not horrible. I still left most of it on my plate. Thank Gods the baked clams and the broccoli were delicious-not a crumb of either were left behind. The waitress's lack of care when I told her that this plate was less than mediocre didn't help much. It's official-Bayside Clambar is on my list of places to avoid. I might suggest you do the same and save yourself from disappointment.

Shout out to both Nicole and Dillion for their warm and friendly manner, attention to detail and overall service. The food as always was outstanding, well portioned and reasonably priced. The baked clams were meaty with very little bread stuffing, a welcome difference with most restaurant clam servings. Tried the fish and chips but subbed a salad for fries. The fish was moist, flaky and slightly seasoned. A dish I'd definitely recommend for those wishing to forgo a burger or sandwich for lunch. Topped off with cappuccinos which an eye catching presentation. Overall a gem overlooking a marina offering excellent food that is well portioned and reasonably priced served by a welcoming courteous staff.

Price - ~$220 (2 appetizers, 3 drinks, 2 entrees, side, tip) A nice spot on the water, not a definite return but won't be disappointed. Food: 3/5 - decent food. Not going to blow you out of the water nor disappoint you. Their Baked Clams were unusually good, aside from that nothing notable. They also don't know how to make an extra dry martini (asked extra dry first time around, was like drinking straight vodka. Asked for extra vermouth second time and was too much). Service: 3/5 - fine. Waitress was sweet and on top of things but nothing beyond that. No water refills but no mishaps. Solid service nothing beyond that. Ambiance: 4/5 - the selling point of the place. Right on the water, real nice spot. Won't be disappointed in this department. Overall: 3/5 - one of those spots where you feel like you are going to be blown away but is a bit lackluster across the board. If I had to pick this spot or Shands, I would go Shands. LakeHouse Restaurant in Bay Shore NY is an upscale place to have an event. Atmosphere is very nice…read morewith window views of the water and sun. Interior is nice with lovely arranged flowers on the Piano and the tables setup was fine for the special 30th business event that I went to. 2 workers/ I found very kind and supportive. Christopher was at my side checking to see that I had each thing I needed. The other young lady at the bar area in the front, lent me paper and pen to write up a draft before entering it into the event Guest Book. The setup of tables was sufficent and there were window sill spots to place various gifts that people brought. As for the food at this given event, it was a buffet style with a big range of different things to eat with small cups of butter on the table for bread. I supspect the chef and kitchen people like to add a lot of salt to their foods. As I myself do like salt, it was ok. The dessert, (my favorite part) was very fresh and tasty especially that chocolate cake. While I only had the one piece of it, I could easily have eatten more. Oddly; my coffee cup had what I want to say is, bubbles in it. Like when oil and water don't mix. It tasted ok so I guess it was not soap. The other thing I noticed is that the waiters were -TOO MUCH- "Johnny on the spot". They took my small plate as soon as I was done and when they came around with more appertizers, I used my napkin for the small lamp chops. I was also glad there were toothpicks at the front entrance as every stick was also quickly removed! Though I know that is their job to do so, and only because I had been there once before I had noticed them and was able to go and get one. So, todays review of the Lakehouse is 3 stars.

The servers are all well versed in the menu items, including the oyster selection, which is always a plus for me. Each time I've visited I ordered a few different oysters and have never been disappointed. You really cannot go wrong with what you order. The fritto misto appetizer is outstanding, perfect for 2-4 people. Also had to try the oysters Rockefeller which are always delicious. My first visit (NYE '26) they had octopus on their specials menu. I PRAY they bring it back because it was memorable, even 6 months later. My first visit I tried the barramundi which, at the time was a special menu item. It seems they added it to the Mains but with a different preparation. This time I tried the salmon which was excellent. If seafood's not your jam, they have plenty of menu items to choose from. In addition to the food, they also have great cocktails and a stellar looking happy hour menu I can't wait to try. I recommend making reservations, especially if you're visiting on a Friday or Saturday night. Both times I went here the restaurant was packed, particularly the bar area. My only real critique is that the restaurant gets a bit loud, making it a tad difficult to hear but it's also a sign that the place is doing consistently well.

However, the seating in my opinion is on a tight spaced sidewalk where people and cars pass you by. It was crowded and our waiter was fine. The food took way too long to come out. It was like they forgot our order. It was happy hour for clams so that could have played a part. However, others had received their food before us. When the food finally came, the oysters were sad. Such small oysters for a place that's on the coast and bases it menu off the ocean. Our tuna tartar tacos were great. Best I've ever had. The flavor is towards the bottom of the taco so take a big bite to get all that flavor. IMO this is a nice place. I would not make it a go to spot for their oysters. But I would return.
