Not many choices in this direct area. There was a wait as expected on a Saturday summer evening. Didn't receive drink order until 35 minutes after being seated. Bar was packed and seemed like one bartender. I had read other reviews and already had a bad feeling about coming here...so I ordered the cheeseburger to be safe and so did the entire table. This place sucks !! I don't care how long they have been open 1925 ! They hire bartenders who are either blind or just do not care ! Do yourself a favor go next door to the dive. The Dive was jam packed and for good reason. This place maybe had 10 people at the bar waiting for drinks. I stood with my wife and son waiting to be acknowledged for 25 mins at the bar. Three bartenders all passed me and never said can I help you. ? I stopped one of them and asked them Could we order some drinks? She then went on to say have you never been to a bar before ? lol I was three times her age , never going back here ! I I'll rather wait for good service at the Dive next door which apparently everyone is doing. Either hire help that knows something about the service industry or train your people better ! I came to Kismet for the day looking for a nice restaurant and i was going to go to the one behind it but i decided to go here. Bad idea. the atmosphere is a little dirty and the tables aren't really cleaned, the food tastes and looks like school cafeteria food and they don't really have good options and also some of the food is almost raw and dry. The only thing i would say is good about this place is the view and the live band. I would say just go to the place behind it instead. Very disappointed especially since the area is so beautiful. If I could give this place a zero stars, I would. I'm writing this review solely to call out the manager of this place. Me and my family came here after a long walk to get food. As we were leaving one of the hostesses, unfortunately, passed out and hit her head. The manager proceeded to NOT help at all and instead yell at another hostess for a simple work mistake as the young girl was laying on the floor passed out. My mom and another mom ended up having to be the ones to help the girl as the manager still did nothing. Worst service ever. Three weeks in a row waited hours no service. We left along with many others. How do you not know or be prepared. The dive closes for parties and could care less about their customers who waist their time going there and then get caught in your place. I love it here. I come here every time with my dad and his girlfriend. It's great when you come off the boat/ferry. There is a lot of tacky fish at the front of the bar but it's not overbearing. There are a few claw games jn the back, which is cool if you like them or you have kids. It's actually nice and spacious for a place in fire island. The food is amazing!! I can't get enough of it here. We always get the mussels, which comes in this 'soup', which isn't a soup but that's the only work I could think of. It does come with onions and garlic. It's not a bad combo but I could do without. The mussels are amazing though. We also got the clams as well. Which we get every time we go there. They are amazing as well. The service is great. From the bar to sitting in a seat. The bar backs and waitresses are amazing and very friendly. The owner is awesome as well. read more

Suffice to say, missed the mark on everything from service to food. Forgot appetizer, missing utensils, no olives, lemons, limes , straw on my Bloody Mary? not attentive in the least to get something. I questioned the waitress and she replied with an attitude, "you ordered an appetizer so you gotta give us a sec." Snarky as hell. A "sec"?? We've been sitting here 45 minutes, waiting for cheeseburgers with fries. I guess the owner and manager don't care how rude their staff is or how bad the food is: the baked clams were purely stuffing, not an ounce of clam in sight or in flavor), and only 3 on the plate (the waitress forgot the forks and napkins) because this place is the only food between Robert Moses Field five and Ocean Beach. They know they will make money no matter what kind of snarky teen slings their slop. The manager clearly didn't pay attention to the weather report for this weekend: there were only three people to seat, serve, and bus on a sparkling fall day, probably the last good beach day for 2023 visitors on Fire Island. food was not good. too much salad dressing on caesar salad $8.95 and add 3 shrimp for $14.75 and your cost for a lousy small salad is $23.70. Mussels were overcooked and shrimp bisque soup had small shrimp chopped up and tasted like they over added flour to the mix. Place is over priced for lousy food. read more

Came here for a break from our hike from Field 5 to Kismet and not too many choices for food as nothing was open and it was either This or pizza. There is a outdoor area for seating with a couple of tables with umbrellas and a couple of shaded tables along the wall. We opted for a table outside. Let me just say that the feed was extremely disappointing and very unfresh. We ordered the mussels which were sandy. The calamari was like rubber and I'm not sure what type of flour they used for the coating. I actually had a stomach from the food afterwards. The only good thing about the meal was the nice cold beer on tap. It's like they have a monopoly in the area since only the pizza place was open and everything else either didn't open til Friday or it was further down and you have to walk there. read more

I came here a few weeks ago for lunch with 2 friends during a 1-day trip to Fire Island and they decided to have lunch here since it seemed to be one of few places to eat here. I ordered the portobello mushroom wrap and it took FOREVER to come. I got my order last and I know that it's not a complicated thing to make. My friend got the Manhattan Clam chowder and chicken wings. My other friend got the mussels appetizer (big portion and I would recommend that). It took about 30-45 minutes to get all of our orders. It seemed like there was only one waitress working during that time too. I'm not sure if there was a lack of cooking staff because there were other tables that waited a long time for their food. Overall, terrible experience. My other friend who was at the beach wondered why me and our friends were gone so long for lunch. I should have just packed a small sandwich from home and had a picnic on the beach like she did. I'm giving this place 2-stars since our waitress was nice and provided good service to us even though she was really busy with other customers too. This place really deserved 1-star for extremely slow food service and mediocre food. read more

The Kismet Inn is doing their part to make sure their seating allows for social distancing. To start we order a Cobb salad which we both enjoyed and was big enough for two to share. I ordered a lobster roll and was quite disappointed because it seemed to be imitation lobster which I would never expect from the Kismet Inn. The lobster roll came with a choice of fries or onion rings. We choose the onion rings. They were good but not great. We also got two appetizers; calamari and clams casino. The calamari was a nice size portion but the breading was heavy and nothing special. The clams casino were small clams that were greasy and not very flavorful. I'd assume it was me but no one at my table made it though their plate. The clam linguini was stale and fishy. The seared tuna was rubber with fake wasabi and stale/soggy ginger, and the scallops were so undercooked, my guest spent the majority of the dinner fighting back vomiting(no kidding). The muscles were cold. The bread was hard. The drinks (mai tai) were the lowest quality; rarely does a drink taste this bad and not be strong but yes; watered down cheapest well liquor money can buy. If this all weren't enough to make the point, the prices are insane. $22 for a burger, but the toppings cost extra? And so forth. Our bill was over $120 for 3 gusts and what a mistake this was.. Yes, unfortunately, we won't be back. The moment a better place hits Kismet, I suspect this place will be quickly and happily forgotten. Just awful. read more

I mean...you're not coming here expecting a 5-star meal. This isn't a fancy, white-gloved meal service. This is beachside, summertime and the living is easy sort of vibe. And one of like, two restaurants on this section of F.I. (Kismet, as the Inn's name suggests). If you park at field 5 at Robert Moses and walk to the light house...just keep going until you hit the cute, family section of Fire Island (approx. 45 min walk in total from leaving the parking lot). I've always wanted to be able to own a home here, or at least rent a house for a week. Alas, I do not have that sort of cheddar, and until I win the lotto my friends and I will stroll on up here and just pretend we're living that vacation life. The drinks here are good, can't go wrong with a Pina Colada. The food may be more on the forgettable side, but I'm alright with that. It's all about the view and the positive summer vibes, baby. Simple, inexpensive with a neighborhood feel. Kind and attentive wait staff. The kitchen seemed in the weeds when we visited on a sunny Sunday in late September. Good food, no AC but in a nice setting. The marina is $60 for the day, you get $40 back if you eat at Kismet which is a good deal. The marina has no services though - no electric or water hookup. The Inn is good sized - a lot of tables both inside and out but it was so hot when we were there that we went inside and at least had the benefit of the ceiling fans. The food is the usual bar stuff - wraps / burgers / poppers / calamari etc. The prices weren't all the bad considering it is a summer community and all. Great place for a day trip. read more

Fire Island... Does anybody live here? My boyfriend (NY native) and I went on a Friday afternoon and it was deserted. Walking through the town, there seemed like no one was on the island. There was hardly anyone walking around.. maybe three people throughout the neighborhoods. Coming from California and our beaches, this was weird for me. But anyway, we decided to eat at Kismet Inn because i had to try 'steamers'. We were two of maybe 8 people seated on the patio. We ordered a beer, a Bloody Mary, steamers and mussels. Steamers and beer were the best things we ordered, and i say best out of the four, but not great. The Bloody Mary was just okay. it was a little on the spicy side, but not an enjoyable spicy. I've tasted better mussels... It had a seafood stench to it which made it hard for me to eat. The beer was good and the steamers were okay. I wouldn't go back for them. I don't even know how to go about describing the place.. small town bar scene? Where locals meet up at? I don't know. I wasn't too crazy about it. read more
