Diva is one of the best coffee shops in Greenwood. They make delicious beverages and pastries. I've never had their coffees as I'm not that big of a fan of coffee but others have told me its really good. Some menu items I recommend: - any of their smoothies (mango is best ) - Chai Tea Latte - Italian soda (pretty cheap, too) - butterhorn (like a mini rolled-up elephant ear!) Sometimes it's very crowded, but it really just depends on the time of day. Another plus is the free wifi! Make sure to use that. Overall, great place that I have continued and will continue to go to. read more

Diva Espresso - Chai-sicle - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Good espresso, no nonsense, good vibes inside. Would be 4 stars but didn't see options for anything but take out paper cups. I'd enjoy a nice ceramic or glass mug when I'm drinking it in house. Businesses need to embrace an environmental ethic and produce less trash. Would happily upgrade this rating when this option is promoted for customers. Let's reduce the trash we make. read more

Great first impression here. The first thing I noticed was the large parking lot situated behind the building. The place has an older coffeehouse charm, with gold framed classical art, gaudy chandeliers, and old wooden tables. The large windows are perfect for staring out of. The service was really friendly. The cold brew was one of the best I've had. Tasted like some of the nitro cold brews I like. The seating is a bit limited, about six tables and 3 bar stools at a small table, but at 3pm on a weekday afternoon, it was not very busy. They tables are large and perfect for spreading some work out on, and there is free wifi to also aid in getting that work done (or distracting you terribly!). This is the kind of coffee shop that I wish was in walking distance from my place. read more

Today I went into diva espresso hoping they would have white coffee, after realizing they did not, I ordered my usual 3 shots iced with white chocolate. As a barista the shots tasted burnt & expired. I was not happy & threw my drink away. I do appreciate the service but the price and taste was not satisfactory. read more

Diva is an accurate description... B!tchy would be even better. Stopped here to kill some time before going to a friends house for dinner. Wanted a Cuban Espresso Machiatto. EHHH...thanks for playing. "We don't do that because when you put the sugar in with the coffee...we have to clean the strainer." Translation: "I am too F**king lazy to do my job correctly." Diva...out. read more

I've been a Diva customer for YEARS, but the Greenwood location is my new home base Diva and I think it's my favorite. I love the quirky staff in the early AM, which is mostly comprised of male Divas. They all memorized my drink within 2 or 3 visits and I get great conversation about music and the Sonics when I stop in. Also, the coffee is GOOD! I think that they serve the best coffee in the city other than a not to be named here lil Italian spot on Broadway I frequent when I'm in that neighborhood. read more

Seeing the name of the establishment, I knew what I had to do. I was ready to accept my coffee, take a sip, then fling it against the far wall and scream "This coffee is 2 degrees too cold! And I asked for only GREEN M & M's and these clearly have multiple colors." Then begin sobbing and continue "How can I do my world-class work when you serve me crap like THIS!" But I chickened out. I didn't think I had the acting chops to pull it off. Instead I ordered a vanilla latte and scoured their pastries at the counter. There was a stack of biscotti which looked divine. I tried the Grasshopper biscotti which was fantastic. Sadly, the poor barista admitted that she was allergic to them and had to gown up to get this delicacy for me. I ended up tipping her a bit extra to pay for the emergency room costs for her eventual allergic reaction. The layout of the place is fairly cozy and the chairs are comfortable. Note that this is the only Diva Espresso location that does not have Wifi. Also be warned that the parking lot is treacherous. read more

Yum... I ordered a grande mocha and a huge chocolate chip cookie which were both delicious and I didn't want it to end. Diva Espresso is super cute inside with plenty of seating and free wifi, but they also have a ton of seating in both the front and the back. Along with their basic, yet yummy, coffee/espresso menu, they also have some great bakery items for sale too. Service was a little slow, but only because there was 1 girl working the counter with 3 people in line. It was definitely worth the wait! read more

I live less than a block away and wanted this place to badly be my regular coffee shop. However, poor customer service (the employees are nice but not very focused & spend way more time chatting). I have been a barista in my past and know what to expect and Diva has not delivered it once. The coffee itself is only decent and I have had only one beverage order that turned out really good after over a dozen visits. I feel annoyed because other people rave about the place but after multiple visits I have become more and more disinterested in ever going in. Thankfully I live in a neighborhood that has a multitude of great independent coffee shops. I would expect Diva to try a little harder based on the nearby competition. It would have been convenient to be a regular at this shop, but it seems more convenient to my well-being to go somewhere else. Thank you Diva for showing me it doesn't pay to be lazy. read more

I got my Springtime Drink (wishful thinking) here yesterday--an iced latte. I could *almost* picture the sun shining while drinking it. And even though the clouds didn't part in real life, that little beverage was quite sufficient to perk me up anyway. What I like about this location is the little bar where you can perch and watch the world go by on Greenwood. The place on Stone Way doesn't offer nearly as entertaining people-watching. They have great Things To Look At on the walls, should there not be odd enough things going on outside the window to keep your attention. Employees are always friendly, and quality is always high! read more

Had a cup of coffee here and sat for a bit reading. Cozy little neighborhood place. Only issue I had - and I'll admit this is probably not specific to this place, but to all coffee shops- was that the barista did not try to do anything remotely resembling work to enhance the customer's experience when she did not have a customer. I get really annoyed when a place is not that busy and the employees are on their phones when not taking customers, yet the tables are full of crumbs. There was even a table the barista was sitting at between customers and when she removed her things to let a customer sit down, she still did not wipe off the table and the customer had to do it. I personally think, when it is not busy, they should wipe down each table after use, as quickly as they pick up their phone between customers. Yet, I rarely see it, and I'm constantly having to wipe down tables before I sit. With a $15 wage in Seattle, even if a barista is friendly and helpful (and she was!) when I'm ordering, i feel uncomfortable leaving a tip when when i don't think they did the minimum they could have to make my stay enjoyable - ie wiping crumbs off tables. I guess I'll add that the owners of places like this might want to make a carpet sweeper available to their employees (or I guess one of those small broom/dustpan combos fir hard floors). There were so many crumbs under the table too, and a quick swipe with a carpet cleaner could have made a $5 cup of coffee a good value if I was also able to sit in in a clean place. read more

Tastes good. Just wish they'd stop making my coffee so damn hot.

Chumleys. I'd leave my review at that, but I'd probably get in trouble. Seriously though... they are the absolute best reason to patron Divas. Unlike Starbucks' version (the frappucino in case you were wondering), it's not icy! It's blended smoothly and the caramel flavored one with whipped cream on top is heaven in a plastic cup (yes, yet another place where my stomach cringes at the thought). This location happens to be my favorite one (I'm a little biased, since I grew up in the neighborhood), but it's SO HARD to get in/out of their parking lot. Fortunately, whenever I go there I am usually walking. However, the times I have driven (someone else's car) I am always worried I'll hit another car or the steps leading into Diva. Now I'll end this review just how I started it: Chumleys. read more

They pour ristretto. Need I say more? If you don't know about it, look it up. Needless to say they do it, just like Vivace. They haven't mastered it, though, and the milk is heated too hot. Hence the 3 stars. They are nice enough, and very quick. Everyone seems to have had 4 shots of espresso who works there. Their pastry selection is awesome. Even the drip coffee is great. Probably not a place where I would sit with friends and drink, but good for on the go. read more

I'm going to have to agree with Shannon M. on this one. The coffee was fine and the little raspberry tart even moreso however the attitude on the employee working the evening I went I could have done without. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt as we all have our days but sometimes you have to fake it until you make it or at least duck behind the counter and punch a trash can if you have to. read more

This is my favorite Diva ever! The crew is fabulous, the coffee is ALWAYS tasty and it's right on my way to work. I absolutely love, love, love this place! I am always greeted with a smile, they know my name even when I haven't been in for ages. They always remember my favorite drinks. Plus they make me Audrey Hepburn's even though those are seasonal winter lattes. YUM YUM! If you have not tried, you ought to! I have a full blown addiction to Diva Espresso in Greenwood! Five stars for FAB-U-LOUS!! =D read more

Love this lil coffee place, they are always so nice! First time I ever heard of and have ordered a "dirty chai latte" and am forever hooked- chai with shot of espresso. They also have good snackums including vegan and gluten free sweets, sandwiches in the cooler and the like. read more

I definitely do not come here as much as I would like to. Diva Espresso is a great place and the Greenwood location is my favorite one. Its so warm and inviting and very cute and cozy inside. The baristas are very friendly and helpful too. They make very good coffee here, nice and strong. The kind you sip and read a book and ponder while eating they're AMAZING butter horns. They make the best butterhorns here! During the holidays the have these amazing Pumpkin Butterhorns, they are absolutely divine! The apple ones are very good as well. I generally like my coffee as cold as possible but when I will come to Diva, I have a hot cup with a butterhorn and its just amazing. I am due for another visit very soon. read more

Diva is one of my favorite coffee spots and still one of the best bets for espresso in Seattle. They craft excellent drinks that are consistent regardless of which barista (or location for that matter) is serving you. ==== COFFEE REPORT Coffee bean brand: Contract a separate company to roast beans specifically for Diva; fair trade Ristretto: Yes, by default Best Bet Drinks: Good mochas Baristas: A- (generally pretty nice) Wireless internet access: Yes read more

My neighborhood Diva Espresso dwells in its own special place in my heart. I think the reason that every morning at 8:30 its awful parking lot is full and there is a line of 12 people extending out the door and into the rain is because of the employees. Although they have a bit of an aloofness to them, they are all funny, and generally warm once you crack their exterior. The coffee is unique, not the best I've had, but part of the experience is JUST the experience. I can pump my own drip coffee, fill it with as much coffee-snob-appalling creamer and Splenda as I like, and feel apart from the corporate caffeine craze. (Am I just kidding myself? Probably....) Despite the fact that dogs are no longer welcome, they no longer have wi-fi, and you will be met with harsh glares should you dare to receive a text message or other cell-phone related activity should occur while you order (OK - they're not really like that, but they DO demand your full attention and respect when ordering, which is great) this is still a place full of character - and CHARACTERS. Go Diva! read more

Diva Espresso seems like one of those places where the staff know people by name and drink order, and I really appreciate that about them! There's usually a line, which leads me to believe that lots of other people have also discovered how delicious their coffee really is. However, I can't say that their staff is all that friendly...maybe I've just had bad experiences? Not sure...but despite the sometimes slow, slightly grumpy baristas, it's still a great place to get coffee. ALSO, where else can you get an orange mocha? (The answer: I do not know. What I DO know is that they are most excellent.) I'm a coffee lover, and this place has definitely won me over. read more

Hand-crafted artisan coffee.. who knew? Leave it to a diva to serve up nothing but the best; coffee originating from fair and equitable relationships between grower, broker, roaster, and consumer. She demands human dignity at all costs. Do the baristas know about this? Probably not. The very antithesis of diva, they are all contagious smiles and giggles behind the counter, drizzling cute chocolate snails on top of their drinks, and sending me off with "don't have a sluggish day!" I loved it. A welcome departure from the typical foam art I'm used to. I also love their huge selection of gluten-free & vegan cookies, cakes, bars, etc... delivered fresh every Friday. I tried the dark chocolate macaroons and the vanilla nut macaroons. Sweet, slightly chewy and decadent. My breve mocha tasted a little watered down, no bitter aftertaste, but no distinct coffee flavor to speak of. Still, one shot did the trick. Early risers need some vices. read more

what can i say, i am biased. i love this place. the coffee is really good (i particularly dig their mochas... and americanos... and mezzos) -- better than anything else in the neighborhood, for my taste. they also have this "day old" case which usually has these delicious croissants that taste better when they are a day (or two?;) old. they also have some really good biscottis in a bunch of flavors. the parking lot is small-ish, but you can also park in front of the store for a quick coffee run, so i rarely had any parking problems. oh, they don't have wifi (anymore), if it's something you need, don't go there (or go there, and then walk to, say, the library next block). sometimes "diva" leaves snarky notes around the store, which I find somewhat obnoxious and patronizing, but not obnoxious enough to take any points off. the baristas are cheerfully [over]caffeinated, friendly, and fun. this is really good stuff. read more

Diva Espresso - greenwood diva espresso, 12/21/2008 - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Seattle, Washington

This Diva is up there with Whitney, Celine, and yes, even Mariah (Sweet Cherry Pie-uh). First of all, if you are going to hand pull espresso (btw - all proper, self-respecting cafes should), you better do it right, and I've never gotten a bad shot from Diva. Their espresso drinks have never disappointed me. Truthfully, I'm not a fan of the pan au chocolat that I got today (croissant with chocolate in the middle). It was not light and flaky and there was barely any chocolate in the middle. I guess I was just spoiled in Paris, or I should have asked them to warm it (will they do that). However, they make up for it with their chocolate no-bake cookies. They are the bomb.com. I should have gotten one of those for breakfast. I love this diva, and it is quite possibly "The Greatest Love of All." read more

I like Diva's variety. I've had their fruit concoctions... the peach is thus far my favorite. And their Vanilla Chumley is to die for when you dont necessarily want coffee. Other than that its just another option on the coffee circut that is Seattle. read more

Here's the scene: It's Sunday morning, 7:15am. I should still be in bed - sleeping off my Saturday night, but I've got to be at Green Lake for the Gobble Run and Mashed Potato Munch-off in 15 minutes. I was in desperate need of a rice chai (and drip coffee for the friend I was meeting - I promised to bring him coffee) I enter Diva Espresso... Guy behind the counter (Greg): "Good morning!!!!" Me: *grumble - grumble - grunt* I walk over to the pastry counter to have a gander... I needed something in my belly, stat! Greg: "Are you looking for anything in particular?" Me: "no!" Greg: "Well, take your time... I'm here until 8pm!" Both of us: burst out into laughter!!! Greg's witty comment was an instant mood changer for me! Cranky face Christine was gone, and I was ready to start my day! I chose banana bread (he even asked if I preferred the end piece or the middle piece of the loaf! I'm a total end lover!!! I was very glad that he asked) The rice chai was delish! I am now a big fan of Diva Espresso! Good drinks, yup! Yummy pastries, uh huh! Parking, check! And, killer service - AB-SO-FREAKIN-LUTELY! read more

Interesting spot, good flavor. Weird concoctions like lucky charm marshmallows in your coffee. Nothing utterly outstanding. Decent vibe.

I trudge and trudge, through rain and muck, to get to the top of the hill. Oh! Phinney Ridge! Oh! Greenwood Avenue! It's 8 a.m., and I am late, but Coffee, dear Coffee, I need you... So, I arrive at Diva Espresso, where the doors are always open. I am licked by cute dogs and received by a barista wearing a lamp shade on his head. It is the kindest welcome I have gotten in quite some time. I order my usual, an Americano. The coffee: I've had better. But it has its own unique flavor, which I give Diva credit for. It's just not my favorite. It tastes...like wood or something. Of course, Diva also serves these wonderful fancy frosted biscotti, tasty apple fritters and these chocolate-oat drop cookies to DIE for. Definitely worth the arduous climb of Herculean proportions to get from Aurora. I wouldn't call myself a regular. Since I live across the freeway, coming to Diva is a treat on the days I dog-sit. I have NEVER seen favoritism in the line, although, like any of the major espresso places, you've gotta be brave standing in that line. You've got to act like you want something, and tell them what you want. If they get confused (as a barista, I know that this can happen as people do not conform to straight lines), just let them know. The customers and staff alike are really accommodating. And, when I get off the 5 Express bus past twilight, I always love stopping in for a tasty chai on my way home. The lights are on and it is warm. A great little corner shop. The BEST DIVA in town. read more

We lived blocks from here. When my first was born I would strap her to the parachute trainer and walk down for my coffee. Eventually she would walk herself. It was my own little Cheers! The shots are good. The molasses cookies are my wife's favorite and the little ones love anything that comes out of the baked case. I was there en route to the Woodland Park Zoo a week ago and my daughter's favorite barrista was working. They were so excited to see each other. I miss my old 'hood. read more

Love this place...I typically order soy because of my dairy issues but I love rice milk - and this is my favorite place to get a latte made with Rice Milk. Meh. The coffee is ok but nothing special and the wi-fi (at least the times I've been there) is abysmal. I needed a place to sit and work for an hour and was disappointed I hadn't walked a few more blocks to Neptune or Herkimer. Atmosphere is a little chaotic and cramped, since they tried to stuff a coffee shop into a little house. It's cute but noncommittal - I think it would benefit from an interior designer or architect giving it a good once-over. I'm giving 3 stars for the Chumley, which is delicious. if you want a coffee milkshake, go here. Otherwise, though, there are much better options in walking distance. read more

I came in while babysitting two infants and got the clear impression (eyerolls, indignant looks) they were annoyed at me for having a stroller in the shop. I understand that strollers are a pain, particularly in small spaces but I am always particularly attentive to make sure I don't block people, get in the way more than necessary or stop traffic. Coffee and pastry were fine, but I haven't returned due to my first experience. read more

I have now chosen this as my home blend of choice when making my own lattes. And it's very enjoyable to stop here with my son on our way back from the library for a nice beverage- he'll either get hot chocolate or italian soda and sometimes a pastry. The baristas are very friendly and serve quickly. The lobby (as where customers would stand in line or wait for their drinks) is a bit tight, but it works. I like the community atmosphere and parking usually isn't a problem when we have the car- but it's a great place to hang out until the bus comes if we are using public transporation. Finding an over-all great coffee shop is hard to find, but this one is a jewel and it's nice that there are several around. read more

It was a typical Seattle day, chilly and wet but not raining. I had to go with a hot chocolate. The chocolate was perfectly mixed in so as not to be grainy or lumpy. There was something lacking but I couldn't quite put my finger on it... was it watery?? I couldn't tell. Regardless, it was still good enough to order again. The baristas were very nice, friendly. They served everyone very quickly but nothing seemed to be rushed. I noticed that other patrons were also friendly and made Diva feel like a spot for locals. There wasn't a ton of seating but what was there was fabulous. For those just reading the paper or who didn't a need for a lot of space, there were spots facing out toward the windows - perfect to watch passers-by. Six or seven square tables wrapped around the rest of the cafe - big enough to share for sure. The bathrooms were pretty clean. The temperature was up and down because they kept the door open (perhaps because at times the line went out the door). I will definitely return to see what else Diva Espresso has to offer. read more

Friendly staff and great Americanos and lattes! This place has character and I love the atmosphere it gives off! It's a bit awkward if you're coming in from the parking side door and want food, because you start your drink order but can't see the display case yet. So you do that awkward jig to get to the display case and sometimes the next person in line cuts in front and purchases their food and drink before you complete your order. I like that there's a wide selection of food, but wish there were more savory pastry options. I don't have the time in the morning to wait for a sandwich to be heated in the morning, which is my bad, but also 90% of their pastries are sweet. I can only think of the tomato pesto roll and the bagels as their savory non sandwich options. Also not sure if it's my luck, but every time I get a maple bar, it's been uniformly squished flat. Maybe I end up with the bar at the bottom of the box or something? Nothing to cry over, but it's always a let down to start the morning that way! And I know other places also charge for alternative milks, but I do think that charging $0.75 extra for soy milk is a bit much. I feel like I'm being punished for being lactose intolerant... read more
