I love Diva Dollz! One of my girlfriends and I were passing by after a baseball game a few years ago and she wanted to introduce me to her favorite dress shop. I got totally hooked. It's a little shop full of gorgeous dresses and loads of pretty accessories. The salesgirls who work there are incredibly attentive and great at picking styles that work with your figure. They also can help you accessorize shoes & jewelry and other little pretties, with the dress you're looking at so that even if you're not getting the accessories, you have an idea of what the dress will look like when you're all gussied up. The dresses are not cheap, but I think they're reasonably priced. The two I bought that first year have gotten a lot of wear for all kinds of different events and have held up beautifully. My biggest problem with this store was I had no idea what would look good on me and if I wasn't all decked out in the makeup and hair, I was sure I would look out of place. They had a huge variety of shoes, accessories, dresses, cartigans, umbrellas. All the staff was super nice too! They had two teeny fittings rooms and had most sizes tucked away in the back. The store was pretty small so customers get crammed in there a lot. I really wish I had tried something out but it was so chaotic and we were on a strict time schedule. Such a cute store with wonderful selection of sweet and sexy dresses, gorgeous corsets, and great handbags and other sexai accessories to boot! The staff is super nice and is really knowledgeable/excited about the merchandise. Although it's not so much my everyday style (I'm more functional than fancy), I love to window shop and daydream here. So if you love the glamour of ladies clothes circa 1920's-1950's you will spend your entire paycheck here or if you're more like me-a cute dress from time to time! read more

The second you walk into this store you know you have found a little slice of retro heaven. There is an amazing selection in this store.. Shoes, dresses, jewelery, underwear, stockings, corsets.. you name it they have it! Many of the dresses are made on site and I challenge anyone to fail to find something to suit them - especially with the help of the wonderful staff! The staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and very friendly. They were happy to hunt down a size, offer suggestions, and perfectly accessorize their beautiful outfits! (As a plus they also were very in touch with the local burlesque scene and had excellent suggestions for shows to see!) I first began shopping here almost 2 years ago so I have been in a number of times, and met many of the extremely knowledgeable and helpful sales staff. I have never loved a store so much. From the beautiful vintage-inspired dresses, shoes, corsets and hosiery, to the fantastic sales staff and romantic atmosphere, this place is a love affair I look forward to indulging for a long time to come. Lexy has been beyond helpful every single time I visit. I wish I could say that the cute things were enough to keep me coming back, but when I leave, it's the experience that I remember, and that's all because of Lexy, Kelsey, and Lauren. They treat me like a princess every single time, regardless of to what each sale amounts. I have worked in the customer service industry for a decade now, on the front lines (as a bartender, bank teller, travel agent, etc.) and I have seen all types of customer service. Unfortunately, the bulk of experiences I have are not pleasant ones. This place is an unexpected exception, and it is so refreshing. I had only met Lexy a couple times, but she remembered exactly who i was, and my name. She was a complete doll (sorry for the pun!) -- she not only gave me pointers, but she never ever passed judgment or tried to talk me into something I wasn't comfortable with. She even gave me pointers on how to properly do victory rolls, and gave me the web address of a victory roll "how-to" video! My experiences with Kelsey were extremely similar, and Lauren was extremely helpful as well. This place is fantastic, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and I pretty much live for the days I get to return here. Well done, ladies. Holy smokes! When I come back to Seattle, I'm gonna bring more walkin' 'round money simply so I can spend it at this store. GORGEOUS options in the pinup/rockabilly realm for shoes, dresses, stockings, corsets, etc - all offered in a female-oriented boutique style (as opposed to "sex shop," as I'm afraid it would be in Chicago) - a nice mix of vintage and modern pieces - and some downright outragiously cute modern reproductions. The shoes! Holy frijoles! The shoes! I got on their mailing list, and I really hope they send me updates on the shoes, cause I'll buy'm like crazy. The ambience is adorable - it's a small boutique with really classic vibes and I think it's situated in the perfect part of town, considering the vintage vibe. The gals here are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I went in and instantly found at least a dozen pieces I'm enamored with. I love the clothing and would love to say I'm wearing it but unfortunately for plus size gals it can be incredibly limiting. I did try on some of their plus size clothing to get an idea of the fit even if the actual piece isn't my print. They are pretty decent about plus size measurements. It's still running small but not like most pin up lines that offer plus size pieces. The selection for plus size is small and sells quickly here. They are truly boutique in the sense their production is small and their online selling presence is non-existent. If you love something, buy it asap! I'll be consistently going in hoping to catch a some of the rare plus size garments in my favorite prints. They are available to check their New Orleans store if there is something you love but not in your size which I'm grateful for. I'm hoping that in the future they will consider having more plus size pieces in stock because I'd happily give them my money and it'd be a great business strategy. There is a world of women with curves that have money to burn that often have to settle for some disappointing options. Which is honestly the only reason they aren't getting 5 stars. It is mildly frustrating to know that if I want to have one of their wonderful pieces I have to watch like a hawk for the plus size stock to be replenished. Their staff though is gracious to offer assistance in finding things in your size so I wouldn't say they don't try to work with what they've got but it'd be a benefit to have more to work with. read more

WOW! This store is such much fun to play dress up in!! This store sells brand new dresses that are made to look like they are vintage pin-up dresses from the 40s and 50s - so think Betty Page. The ladies and gentleman who work there were all really nice and are really great at pairing different shoes and accessories with the dresses to take an outfit from great to outrageous. On my shopping spree, I got an amazingly gorgeous red&white poka-dot dress and awesomely sexy matching shoes (white with black poka-dots and a red bowtie on the front). The prices are high but when you find a dress that makes you feel gorgeous and flirty and fun all at the same time, that more than justifies the price. Beautifully made clothes but unfortunately the selection in sizes is low. I found a few different items I liked but I either needed to size up or down and they didn't have the sizes I needed available . I noticed in past yelp reviews others state the store carries other brands like pinup girl clothing, but all I saw was their own label. I recently purchased a BEAUTIFUL pair of 1940's style maroon suede heels here - what I call my "pin-up" shoes. Definitely can't dance in them (stilletto heels, maybe 3"?), but they are beautiful! Walking towards Downtown on 1st, my BF and I happened to pass this boutique store. I love the 50's look and wanted to try on some dresses. I really wanted a Red with White Polka dot dress (ILOVELUCY style) but they didn't have my size.. I was given another dress in the same style to try on and I loved the pattern on the "test" dress that I bought it! I even got a pair of shoes to match =) I'm very cheap and hate spending my money unless I really really like something and this was just the case! I got the dress and the shoes for a little more than $350 but if you think about vintage and good quality, that is exactly what I was paying for! The workers are really helpful by bringing you sizes, different styles and fabrics, AND shoes! I found a great pair to match my dress! I wish they had this store in SF.. Diva Dollz is right up the street from my office and I have wandered past countless times ogling their beautiful dresses, parasols, and lingerie. I have purchased a few dresses, high heels, and stockings. (I also have a parasol that my boyfriend purchased for me!) They have never been lacking in larger sizes when I have been there. The women that work there are so helpful and knowledgeable! One of the women guessed my bra size perfectly! I realy like this place. They have a great selection of vintage style dresses and lingerie and the SHOES! I am not a girly girly crazy about shoes ( I own 7 pairs total) but this place has some great ones to choose from. Some of the jewelry is a bit over the top, but again I'm not a girly girly crazy about jewelry either so judge for yourself on that. The sales people are really genuine and patient. The only problem is the website has been Under Construction for the past 2+ years. Why list a website if it's never available? I've always thought their window displays were so pretty and feminine. I mentioned this to my boyfriend once, and he took it upon himself to buy me an outfit as a surprise for an upcoming party. Lexie (sp?) was a great help to him, and the dress, shoes and accessories work incredibly well together. The combination fit nearly perfectly, and the outfit looks classic and beautiful and feminine and retro and fun all at the same time. I'm a girl with curves, and their clothes make those curves look really good. And they've got a great selection of vintage and vintage-looking jewelry and accessories that simply make me drool. The dresses are very pretty, about 3 or 4 stars. The prices are extremely high. But what bothers me, and merits the low rating, is something numerous other reviewers have mentioned: aggressively pushing/upselling other products when a customer is trying on dresses. After clearly stating I didn't want to buy add-ons, I had about six or seven items pushed on me, including heels, flats, a hideous necklace, I think bracelets, a few shirts, etc. This wasn't the first time; I've bought three dresses here over I think about ten years, and visited other times, and it's happened before. I've never had this happen in any other store, and it feels slimy, pushy, uncomfortable, and disrespectful of my "no." This last time, the level of "ick" really sunk in after I'd left. The most ridiculous example this time was when I noticed the bodice of an expensive dress didn't fit very well, the saleswoman went to find a shirt I could wear over the dress to hide the fit. Seriously? Also, I tried on a dress with sleeves that were comically tight around my upper arms (on a cold day). I was told that steaming it would loosen the sleeves up significantly. I knew that line, and know not to fall for it. Years ago, I bought a very pretty dress from them, and they even volunteered to do the magic steaming once I purchased it. If it made a difference, it was of a millimeter, if that. I ended up opening up and changing the sleeves. I think I'm finally done with Diva Dollz, unless I read something about changing this aggressive behavior. This is a clothing store, not a used car lot. read more

Ok, I'd really like to give the store more stars. The clothing is so cute, pseudo-vintage 40s/50s. Some of the dresses are made in store and others are by outside designers. The quality of the dresses made in store is really basic sewing 101. Dresses aren't lined and entirely too pricy for the quality. But that isn't why I am giving one star... I visited the store a few days before and didn't have time to try on more than a few things. We asked them to hold a few items and left. When I had more time before I flew home I stopped back by. My b'friend had called ahead and let the ladies know that I was coming and pretty much had carte blanche. I walked in and they were immediately not nice. First I came to find out that they don't hold items. They sold the items that I wanted. Ok...misunderstandings happen but they kept reminding me of it and saying it must have been one of their "new girls"...ok ok so your new girl messed up...train your new girls better or here's an idea, don't throw girls not there that day under the bus! I started trying on a few things and wanted to take a picture to send to my b'friend because well he was paying...that seemed fair since he was getting ready to spend a lot. I was told in the most obnoxious "S'sorry but we don't allow cell phones in the store." Ok, I said, I just want to send a snap to the guy that is paying for the dress. I was then told "S'sorry but we sign contracts with our designers that we won't allow photos of dresses that aren't purchased." Um...ok. So let me make sure I understand you....this alleged contract prevents photos of products from being taken...and now that is preventing me from purchasing...and preventing the store from selling. That is asinine. I was told the companies are afraid of pictures getting on the internet but that if she hung it in the window that was allowed. O K A Y...how is that different?? Also this would explain why this store has ZERO web presence. I'm thinking these designers should just quit making dresses at all: if they don't want pictures taken so that people can buy then why bother?! But seriously that isn't really at the heart of what bugged me. What bugged me was that nobody was nice or helpful. I was told no no no at every turn. No you can't put your bag there. No you can't put your cup there. No you can't take a picture... Not nice, not friendly, not interested in real dress shop sales! Hey it was your shop girl that was supposed to hold shoes...not my fault she wasn't trained. So it's also not my fault that I was then forced to find them online for 35% less? Maybe I showed them they're shoes from Denmark aren't exclusive to them? Because, guess what, they're not! Was it that my kind and generous b'friend wanted to pay? Was it that I was in yoga pants and not in the 40s/50s costumes like them...? I don't know, but I do know that I'll not go back and can't recommend anyone else go either. If you're going to have a store, be full service, do it right, be kind or just don't bother. I visited Diva Dollz recently and had the worst experience I've had while shopping, ever!! When I walked in the two young girls (with makeup reminiscent of a harlot) immediately began bombarding me with information about their store - I hadn't even stepped a few feet in the door when I felt as though I was in school all over again, only with obnoxious, unprofessional, and unintelligent girls as teachers. The attitude of the girls while shopping around the (extremely crowded) store was unfriendly and a bit condescending in terms of how they would explain the details and "stories" behind their merchandise. I have a knowledge and collection of vintage clothing, yet I felt as though the employees felt as though I had never even heard the word "vintage" before as they pranced around the store in a ditzy manner. The store was so crowded and had pieces in extremely close proximity to other pieces - this goes for their accessories and clothing. The jewelry in the cases was tacky and cheap looking up close so I didn't spend too much time in that area of the store. (Again, false advertising on the store's exterior). The dresses were quite darling, which is what brought me into the store in the first place, but after seeing their prices for cheaply made jersey, cotton and "vintage" dresses, I was less enticed by the store. The windows made the clothing look much more desirable on the body than when I saw the dresses up close. I ended up trying on a couple dresses, one with a simple color scheme and one with a cute pattern, both 40s styles. I didn't feel as though the dresses were cut very well once on the body, as stated before, despite me being a "small" in their clothing. I felt claustrophobic while in the tiny changing room as the sales girl insisted I try on these (hideous) shoes she brought me and thought throwing on necklaces, etc would help the appeal of the dress, which it didn't. I was sorely disappointed with my experience and would NOT recommend this store to anyone who is wishing for a well made dress that has a reasonable price attached to it. Do not expect any kind of helpful customer service either, as the sales girls are only interested in how they want you to look. Steer clear of 'Diva Dollz'!! read more

I shop in Seattle at least once a month and drive from Vancouver BC to do this. I have in the past always popped in to Diva Dollz because of the eclectic styles they have. I have purchased quite a few items in the past. Recently my husband purchased an anniversary necklace for me from that shop as a surprise. Regrettably it was not the right one that I had originally showed him. You know guys, they can't remember so they just pick something in the right shade. It was not a cheap necklace either or I wouldn't have considered exchanging it. I called Diva Dollz and they did tell me their no exchange/return policy which is clearly on the receipt. However for this situation I really wanted them to consider just exchanging it to the right one. The necklace my hubby bought doesn't even fit me properly so totally useless to me. The sales person gave me an email, I emailed no response. I called the store again and asked to speak to Shay the owner and she never called me back. This to me is extremely poor customer service and for that reason I would not recommend Diva Dollz. Based on the other reviews this place needs a complete rehaul of their customer service and given the owner doesn't respect their clients enough to even respond it certainly stems from the top. Shame on you Shay of Diva Dollz. Taking peoples money without any integrity to even return a phone call or email. read more

Will never go back this store or recommend it to my local Seattle friends: 1) its overpriced. 2) the store is quite tiny and there is no room to browse freely and try things on, especially when there are at least two other people in the store. very warm inside too. 3) no refunds. this point pisses me off the most, there is no refund policy. when i purchased the very expensive shoes, this wasnt told to me at all. yeah yeah, i know but when you're special ordering something, that point really should've been made. they should make this MUCH clearer - ie; have their sales associates detail this to customers, especially when, their products are so overpriced and many of their customers aren't even from Seattle (tourists). 4) bad customer service. young girls that work there are a bit ditzy and on the three occassions i've walked in the store, have never asked me if i needed assistance. read more

This is a great little shop full of clothes that (as a man) you wish more women wore. Some vintage items but on the main dresses and such patterned from designs spanning the '20's to '40's. The owners are FANTASTICALLY friendly and seem to really love what they do. I believe that they can also do custom clothing and corsets. The prices are of course higher than shopping at The Bon (yes, I refuse to call it 'Macy's) but you get a much better made garment that not every other girl will be wearing. This shop is for the girl that doesn't mind standing out in a crowd while still looking like a classy dame. I can't believe there are so few reviews for Diva Dollz! I only recently discovered this store, and fell in love with it. This is the kind of boutique you must visit when you want to feel very feminine, glamorous, old-fashionably so (but modern at the same time). Burlesque artists and sexy entertainers (I mean the classy ones!) must love this shop. Everything in it is meant to accentuate a woman's body, and to make her exude femininity. (Very un-Seattle-like!) They have a good selection of gorgeous dresses for affordable prices - and not just for the skinny girls! I'm a size 14 and I found 2 dresses that made me feel absolutely sexy and fabulous (one casual for under $60, and the perfect little black dress for formal occasions for under $80). The store guy, besides being eye-candy material, was super nice and helpful - he spent lots of time with me, helping me put stuff on the correct way (I can be so awkward at that, tying things on the back when it's meant to be tied in the front, and such... but he didn't make me feel awkward at all), showing me which shoes and accessories I can use with a certain dress (which other store does that???). It made me feel like a million bucks, I got the treatment I'd dream I would get at a super expensive boutique, without it being expensive. I didn't pay much attention to the jewelry (tons of it!) and accessories, so I don't know how affordable they were, but everything looked gorgeous. Now, rambling about the corsets: yes, for the first time in my life I tried one on. It had been a lifelong curiosity, watching movies like "... Gone With The Wind" and imagining how it would feel like to squeeze myself in a tight corset, and waltz around with a tiny waist in a long beautiful dress, a la Scarlett O'Hara. Ok, forget the dress - these corsets here, or at least the one I tried on, is meant to bee seen, not to be under clothes (so it's more of a burlesque garment than old-fashion shapewear). The store guy took my measures and helped me put on a gorgeous black with lilac chinese drawings corset. I thought I would never fit into that tiny thing, or maybe fit but not be able to breathe. I was surprised to learn how good it feels to have a corset on! You can breathe just fine, it doesn't hurt or squeeze you, it makes your body shapely like you wouldn't believe, and makes your posture perfect. You cannot bend your back or slouch in the slightest (which I love). Too bad it costs over $300. One of these days, I might go temporarily insane and buy one... I think it's worth it. read more

Diva Dollz sells very cute items, but from what I can tell, most of their clothing is re-branded with their own label from other designers (most notably Heart of Haute and Pin Up Couture). The markups are also pretty astonishing. I was looking at a blouse made by Heart of Haute (with a Dollz and Dames label in it, but unmistakably the same blouse) that was marked $98 - the same blouse is available on Heart of Haute's website for $56. Another HoH dress that's priced at $160 online was over $220. (For the record, the quality on many of the garments that they sell is excellent, so I have nothing disparaging to say about the clothes themselves - just the insane markups and the deceptive marketing). I'm willing to pay a little more to support a local business and for the fun and convenience of being able to try something on before I buy it, but not to that extent. I will also say that I find the customer service to be too aggressive here. I'm someone who prefers to browse alone and ask for help when I need it, and I had a salesperson latched onto me from the moment I walked through the door. I'm frankly a lot more likely to spend my money in your shop if you let me peruse things by myself, rather than constantly waving things under my nose. They have a ridiculous mark up on their clothing. I happily bought a dress from them and then searched on the internet for other colors of the dress. Diva Dollz price $135 ... Pinup Couture price $88. I understand a bit of a mark up but that is offensive. That turned an otherwise good experience into a bad taste in my mouth. Shop there with serious caution. read more
