The clothes themselves are very nice, and I like that they can customize the size and color. I'd like to give a higher rating, but the salespeople are way, way too aggressive. My friend brought be along because the first time she tried to go in, they scared her away by pressing things on her she didn't want. When she said she needed a second opinion, the saleslady said /she/ could give her a second opinion, which isn't really what that means. So I came along the second time to field the salespeople and keep them away while my friend tried on dresses, and they really are ridiculous. We came to look at dresses, and they tried to upsell shoes. My friend said she wasn't looking for shoes today. They insisted. They don't sell any flats, and she said she doesn't like to wear heels, as she's on the tall side already. While she was in the dressing room, a saleslady put a pair of shoes on the floor by her. I repeated that my friend doesn't like heels, but the lady left them there as if the proximity would magically make my friend want them. Apparently she snuck another pair in next to them when I was looking at something else, too. They wouldn't leave us alone to look for two minutes, even after we said we were just looking and promised we'd ask them if we had any questions. There were two of them, and they asked the same questions we'd already answered. It felt like an interrogation. It's not very respectful to ignore people when they say they don't want something, and it doesn't feel very welcoming. This place is way too intense. read more

In a previous post from 2010 I gave this place 5 stars. Unfortunately, after my most recent visit I feel that I need to give a lower rating. I will not be returning to Diva Dollz. The clothing is still adorable and I would love to own majority of the clothing in there though I agree with many posters that the dresses are unlined and can fit a little strangely. I am curvy and for the style I would expect a better fit. Most fit my hips and waist but not bust. I do know that they have a lot of turn over in the stock so I would have kept coming back. In the end the thing that will keep me away is the fact that I recently bought a pair of boots, very nice but cost just over $300 and I will have to stretch the tops to make them fit. I decided that the shoes didn't work and went to return them. This is when I found out (since they never told me) that they do not do returns and exchanges. When I said that they didn't work with the outfit I had been thinking of I was told that I should have told them I had a specific outfit in mind. Some how it became my fault that they did not tell me that I couldn't bring them back. You would think that since 3 different people helped me that someone would have mentioned it at some point. Also be warned that if you go in the suggestive sell like no place I have been before. Make sure that you are comfortable saying no and always keep in mind NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES. Because of these things I will not be returning to this store. I will stick to online stores with better service like Pinupgirlclothing.com. read more

The best window ever! This is the cutest store hands down in Seattle, Yes, even cuter than the pretty parlor. This shop carries a great selection of shoes including poetic licence which I love. Lots of stockings and frillies. You will find frocks here from Heartbreaker, Pin Up Girl clothing, and similar companies. My only complaint is that I can rarely find dresses in my size. I generally wear a large so it's not that I am a xxs or a XXL. She will offer to order things in for you though. At that point I just go through the brands website which is actually more often than not cheaper. It's nice to try things on before purchasing so sometimes I don't mind paying a bit more. The prices should come down a bit though at least to suggested retail price. read more

Remember when shopping involved dressing up, wearing gloves and carrying a fabulous handbag and people waited on you and really listened to your needs? Me neither. But I have heard this is what the shopping experience was like in the 50's and this is why I love Diva Dollz so much. This isn't just a cute store. This is a shopping experience. The window displays are enough to put me over the edge on any given day. But the experience of browsing this lovely gem is one in a million. First, the music is charming vintage music. The decor looks like you've entered someone's personal boudoir. Feathers, rhinestones, parasols. Then there are the sales ladies who are dressed to the nines, are genuinely sweet and engaging, and who honestly want to help you find the very best frock, accessory, shoe possible. I come here for inspiration, for window shopping, and often come home with a tiny purchase if I feel like splurging. The jewelry selection is fabulous. And I do feel ok about spending a bit more on something I really like here that is truly unique. I recently bought a pair of white beaded gloves from the 40's here and the sales lady enchanted me with her stories of how her grandmother cared for her own gloves - the washing, stretching, etc. Loved it. This place is my dream come true! I've been beaming ever since I was there hours ago! I center my word robe around vintage inspired and vintage clothes and accessories. Before now I had to rely on antique stores and ebay. They where amazingly helpful and the selection is inspiring. Okay, so I love the clothes and jewelry at Diva Dollz but here's the thing. The girls there do not make it a pleasant shopping experience when it gets even the slightest busy in that small space. I don't need someone coming up to my dressing room every three seconds asking to take stuff away or up-sell me. I felt so rushed and I probably would have bought more clothing had I not been made to feel like I was taking up too much dressing room time or making me feel like a shoplifter or something. Let a girl shop for crying out loud. Asking if I need help once or twice is fine but there is a difference between good customer service and being overbearing. cute...but pricey. they got a bunch of super dooper cute things....like cardigans with leopard print(4 or 5 colors), vintage dresses, vintage umbrellas(locally made), ADORABLE shoes...all of which are kinda out of my spending range. maybe if it was love at first sight...and i had to have it, ok...then it would be worth it. now, don't get me wrong. not everything is like that. i got a taller pair of leg warmers(mid thigh)...with spat style copper buttons up the side....black ones...under $20 including tax....not bad. worth it, for sure. they also have those ruffly underoos for like $15...which is pretty standard( i bought some for the same price about a 6 months ago at a different boutique in a different city). The sales lady that i talked to was super helpful and did a pretty darn good job. she had suggestions and answers to my questions. i tried on a vintage hat...it was too small. she informed me that a lot of the time, vintage hats are super small and they could easily re-size it in back...also that i could bring in hats that needed to be reshaped or resized...awesome. she also turned me onto the leg warmers. she didn't have to talk me into those...they sold themselves to me. i know i will go back here...at least to browse and, if find that certain something, buy. read more

I was visiting from Chicago and stumbled across this cute little store! The awesome girl working really made my experience fun! We played dress up for about an hour. I would select a dress I loved and then she would find the shoes and super cute accessories. We would put the look together and then ohh and ahh in front of the mirror. She even taught me how to put my hair up in a french twist (which is now my new favorite hairstyle). I found the most perfect red dress and if I had more room in my suitcase- I would have walked out with more! Such great styles and looks. Diva Dollz has the best selection of stockings in Seattle. I come here so often the store clerks recognize me and ask me how I've been. I'd love to invest in some of their other treasures (boots! garter belts! corsets!) but, sadly, everything else seems to be out of my price range. To the owner of the shop: PLEASE consider opening a store somewhere on the Eastside. Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, etc. I love your shop, but not a fan of commuting to downtown Seattle. Lots of deep pockets over here and it could be quite profitable for you. I live in the Eastside 'burbs and only happened to be in this part of town because I was called to jury duty at the King County courthouse last week. While there, I ran into an old friend and we had lunch together one of the days. She told me about a really cool dress shop she had come across the day before so we went to check it out. Holy Moly! This place is wonderful. I wish I were about 50 pounds lighter and 30 years younger. 'cuz I saw a lot to love here. The staff (2 young women and a man, all styled in a vintage way) were super friendly and helpful, even to this 50-something frump from the suburbs. I actually did make a small accessory purchase, though I'd love to get some of the dresses someday too. I will tell my friends about this shop and recommend it. My only complaint is that they don't have one on the Eastside. I have not been in downtown Seattle in decades and other than jury duty would not have gone in last week either. I might reconsider going in though, now that I know of this shop. If I can lose the weight, I will be back! read more

I really wanted to love this store. But for someone who likes quality clothing, this is not the place. Cheap poly/cotton dresses made from what looks like quilting fabric and hardly worth the price tag are NOT vintage. Sorry! If they really sold more consignment goods, it would be worth a look every now and then but this store is really like an expensive Red Light Clothing. And by the way, corsets weren't worn in 1920-1950 (the eras the store attempts to represent). Not to mention that you can find much nicer corsets for the price if you really want one. It's too bad because my husband bought me a gift certificate 2 years ago, I've been in 3 times and I can't find a damn thing to buy that I can't get at much better quality (or make myself) elsewhere. read more

Well, my first impression of Diva Dollz was great. The staff is nice and I happen to love vintage fashion... So, when I found this place, I was thrilled. Unfortunately for me, my first purchase in the store would also be my last. I tried on and purchased a moderately priced dress (aprox $150), thinking that it would be nice to support an interesting local shop. The dress wasn't an actual vintage dress, but a new one made by (or for) the store. When I brought it home, I was surprised to find a large streak of discoloration along the side of the dress--apparently a result of being displayed for too long in the front window, resulting in sun bleaching. Because of the dark lighting of the store, and the bright glare of the sun shining through the window, I wasn't able to spot this defect in the dress before purchasing it. When I noticed this, I checked my receipt and was dismayed to find that it said that all sales at Diva Dollz are final. The clerk certainly made no mention of this when I bought the item! Still, I called the store hoping that there would be some exception to this policy when the merchandise is damaged. The person who answered the phone told me to bring the dress back to the store. Because many of their dresses are apparently hand dyed, I was told that they would probably be able to re-dye the dress. I spent spent my next lunch break going down to Pioneer Square to bring back the dress to the store (with the receipt and the dress's tags still intact)... only to be called back a few days later. The man who called me back informed me that not only would I have to pay to have the dress corrected, but that I would also have to wait about three months for them to get around to doing it. I eventually decided to take my discolored dress back as it was (and still is), going out of my way, once again, to pick it up in Pioneer Square. While one star may seem somewhat harsh, I feel that the store's moderate-to-high price range definitely doesn't warrant the poor treatment of its customers that I received. I'm still fairly shocked that not a finger was lifted to try to make amends for the shop's faulty merchandise. I'll never shop there again, and I'd certainly never recommend it to anyone else. The clothing was great for me as I love vintage style. My problem is their customer service is terrible. The girl helping me was great - but another woman who seemed like the manager/owner kept on butting in and speaking very rudely to me. When I took a cardigan off a heavily stacked rack another cardigan at the end of the row fell to the floor (it happens when you overstack a rack!) I immediately went to pick it up and the woman barked "if you want something just ask and I'll get it for you" - so what? I can't take clothes of racks myself now?! I then saw a necklace I was interested in buying but the price was around the back of the display so I picked it up and turned it to check the price - again she ran over - "if you need to see jewellery just ask me" - I replied that I was just looking for a price and she retorted that I should ask her to handle them as she wouldn't want me pricking myself on a pin - which was a load of bull - clearly she thought I may shoplift - despite the fact I was wearing a 1940s frock when I walked in and had two dresses from her store behind the counter already awaiting me to purchase! I didn't suit the colour of the third dress but loved the style - I wanted to remember the label in case I ever saw it online (I live in New Zealand so wouldn't be back to store anyway) and instead of asking me nicely not to take the photo - she strode over, snatched the iphone out of my hand and barked - "NO PHOTOS ALLOWED!! we have exclusive contracts with the designer so you wont find it anywhere else!" - if that was true then what was the problem?... I informed her that I was very put out by the way she had spoken to me and left without purchasing the $400 worth of clothing I had put aside to buy. I was disappointed about not getting the clothing I had loved in the store - but I absolutely did not want to reward her incredible bitchiness with my money! A few months later I saw similar dresses and one exactly the same on pinupgirlclothing.com - and was please to buy from that website instead. read more

My fiance and I just happened to wander in here on our way back to our hotel. I loved loved loved everything in the store. When I started looking into the jewelry display cases I fell even more in love. They had a vintage brooch from the 1940s that I bought and I can't wait to use on my wedding day. The ladies there were very nice and helpful. They talked with me about the dresses and the possibility of a custom dress although it's beyond what I'd be able to spend. Yes, everything here is very expensive, but it's because it's all worth it. If you want to drop some serious dough to get an awesome vintage-styled outfit (or costume--burlesque, anyone?) this is the place to be. It doesn't matter what your size is--there is a nice selection and if they don't have what you need, you can order it or get something customized. This is also the place to be if you want a corset--an INVESTMENT corset. They will fit you and you can get a corset made to your exact specifications. (The fitting is free, so if you want to get that done and then order a cheaper corset online, I'm not telling.) Even if you aren't willing to make a big purchase, just come in to look at all the beautiful items! The shoes and jewelry are exciting, even if you never would wear any of it. It is interesting reading the reviews for this store because they really reflect my experience. I stopped in on a trip to Seattle and loved the cute dress I bought. It was quite expensive for the quality but I bought it knowing that because it was very unique. They definitely upsell you quite assertively but again I made the choice to add a shrug to my purchase. When I went to wear the shrug I realized that he shoulder was faded - looked like a hanger mark - probably from hanging near a window. I emailed the store from their website and heard nothing. I finally responded to a survey I received from the credit card processing company and then got a response. What followed was a several months long process of slow responses to correspondence and having to email multiple times to get answers. They asked for pictures of the shrug and receipts. Then finally after several responses and repeat requests for answers they offered to give me an exchange for another color but asked me to mail the useless shrug back. By this time the summer was almost over and I had no more patience to deal with this. Nor did I want to go to the expense and time of mailing it back. I finally just asked for the partial refund they had originally offered to have it dyed and had to email several times to get a response. My last correspondence from them said they would process the refund finally and included a little dig that they had remained professional "even if some on the correspondence had not." which I assume meant me. LOL Considering that all of my emails had been very professional but expressed my dismay over not hearing back in a timely manner I found this quite an interesting response. Enter at your own risk and understand they they are not interested in repeat business or customer loyalty which may make sense for a shop in a touristy area where they are hoping for constant turnover. read more

Loved this store and it's staff. It is a jewel filled with awesome retro reproductions not limited to clothing. The staff all embodied the era and truly enjoy helping their customers to find the perfect look for them. I purchase several dresses for my Daughter in laws (age 30-35) and for myself(57) . they blocked the dress for me for a better fit and sent it to me in Florida. I went in to buy a dress to wear to my college graduation. The lady who helped me was super friendly and attentive. I tried on a fuck ton of dresses and she was great about getting me the sizes and fabrics I needed, as well as explaining how the shape of the dress might change over time depending on the fabric. She did try to push shoes on me, which was kind of fun initially. When I explained to her that I had had several foot surgeries and can't really wear heels she immediately backed off, which I appreciated. I had settled on a color and pattern I liked, but alas, they were out of my size. No problem! They had one custom done for me at no additional charge, and it was ready well before my graduation date. It is expensive, but all of their stuff comes from small independent designers, and it's worth the bucks (if you have them) to support artists. read more

Love this store. bought a great polka dot dress and fabulous heals for an event last year. i work nearby, but basically cannot allow myself to go in unless i have budgeted to by a new dress or shoes because i know i will find something i love with a really great fit. I am about a size 10 hourglass and their stuff seems to be tailored for the curves. everything is moderately priced, and dresses are a bargain, some great ones around $30-40. stop by if you are in the pioneer square area. read more

Love the dresses here, and bought a favorite at the New Orelans store. This location is much smaller and more cramped. The real problem is how pushy the saleswomen are. I was in this past Sunday, and they clearly weren't interested in trying find what looks good on my body. They kept throwing stuff at me, even if it didn't make sense for my body shape and proportions. They only wanted to make a sale--major backfire, since they drove me crazy and I left after trying on three dresses. On the flip side, at the NoLa store they were friendly and helpful withiut being manic, so I was happy to spend time and money there. read more

Went with little sis to find an outfit for an afternoon wedding she's going to in two weeks- EVERY single one of the 4 dresses she tried on looked amazing, and Shay had great suggestions for accessories and outfit ideas and was just an overall lovely person. We weren't looking specifically for vintage, if you are, just ask Shay and she will find you something in her stash - Seriously, this is the best customer service in a Seattle boutique I think I've every gotten.
