I went here with my family. The food was good but the environment ruined my meal. The manager yelled at one of the hostesses as we were being seated and appeared to be speaking unkindly to a server as we were eating. I found the service to be wonderful aside from that. We had the tempura veggie volcano sushi as an appetizer, which was really good, and the mashed potatoes that came with the pork chop were amazing (but when are mashed potatoes not??) Fabulous food! We visited on a Friday night (had a reservation) and after cruising around and landing a parking spot we were 5 minutes late. I called and let them know our parking challenge (we had left our house with plenty of extra time but the garage was full) and they were very nice about it. When we arrived we had to wait about 10 minutes for our booth. Hubby had an old fashioned and I had a glass of wine to start. I needed a gluten free drink, so that was it. They don't have any hard seltzers or GF beer, it's definitely a wine or cocktail spot. Hubby got the California Deviled Eggs to start and I had a Mike's salad. I was a little cautious about the salad dressing which is listed as a balsamic vinaigrette but it was white. Our server said that was due to the egg in it. Both were great! On to our meat adventure....I got the filet and fries. It normally comes with asparagus, but that's not my thing and I hadn't had fries in ages, so I made the switch. It was no biggie. Hubby had the Ditka cut and he subbed his side for the lobster risotto. There was a $10 upcharge, but he was the birthday boy and could do what he wanted. Our meat was delicious! I'm more of a poultry person and rarely eat red meat, but you don't go to a steakhouse for chicken. Our server asked us how we wanted it cooked and got very specific. I told her no blood at all and they did a good job with that. We were never offered a dessert menu. I had been saving room in the dessert compartment, but our server was hard to find later in the meal and we skipped asking about it. In the beginning of our visit we got lots of attention, but after our food was brought, not so much. Well - consistency is gone. Saturday night- nice weather. Place was half full so I figured good service. Wrong! Sushi appetizer had very thin sushi. Chicken sandwich was cold. The service was very slow. There were 5 girls at the hostess counter more concerned about their hair than customers. Hellen Keller could have given me faster visual verbal or hearing my order correctly. Been going there since it opened. Taking a long break now. Food was mediocre at best My husband got the pork chop, that was pretty tiny. It was alright. My chicken Parmesan was terrible. The pasta was microwaved and one inedible clump of noodles. The chicken parmesean tastes lukewarm a Tyson chicken patty that has been broiled with cheese on top. My friend got the sushi, which was nothing special. Had the fried perch last night it was listed as a special. The pieces of fish had more breading than fish meat on it. The fish was very dry. The general manager came and asked about the patio temperature but not about the food. The same was true for the waiter. Disappointing. My wife had the lobster roll. It looked appealing but the roll was stuffed with lettuce and the the lobster and shrimp filled in the top. It was good but not portioned correctly. We were immediately greeted and our waiter, Jason, was friendly and quite knowledgeable. It is clear he likes working with people. The food and drinks were excellent. My wife had the chicken piccata. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The balance between the lemon and the saltiness of the capers made for an enjoyable meal and a clean plate. I had the pork chop with a Michigan cherry demi-glace, which was done perfectly. We both enjoyed the rich, creamy potatoes. We will definitely return to Ditka's Grill. read more

Ditka's offers a variety of delicious entrees to choose from. Their salmon and steaks are both delicious.

We visited on 9/4 and didn't have a great experience. First, when I made the reservation I wrote that it was our 8 year wedding anniversary, but that wasn't acknowledged. The restaurant told us they were short staffed and busier than they had anticipated because every other restaurant was closed for Labor Day, Our server was very friendly and apologetic, but we waited a long time for drinks, water refills, appetizers, and entrees. Some other issues are noted below. 1- I ordered a $17 glass of Sancerre and they brought me a very light pour. Probably 3.5 ounces or so. The server agreed with me and spoke to the bar. They told her they were instructed to pour only 4 oz. Given the long wait and small portion, we decided to just order a bottle instead and take the rest home. 2- Appetizers- The deviled eggs are not eggs. They're served on avocado. We wish the menu clarified this because we wouldn't have ordered them. They were out of the grilled bread so they offered a different type of free bread and olives instead. It was pretty good. 3- The Cobb salad was good and I give our server extra credit for remembering to omit the bacon and put 2 different types of dressing on the side. However, there was practically no crab in the salad. I've had this salad at the Oak Brook location and the kitchen in Wheaton is definitely cheap with ingredients. It's worth noting that I heard the man at the table next to me also saying he couldn't find the tuna in his poke bowl. My husband thought the chicken piccata was just ok. 4- The server recommended the chocolate cake which was really good. 5- We were overcharged on the check for 2 things. They charged us for the "free" bread and for the 2nd glass of wine which I cancelled when we decided to get the bottle. Not sure we will be back to this location, despite recently having moved to Wheaton. read more

I'm a big fan of the Ditka's Restaurant in Oakbrook Terrace and was looking forward to Ditka's Grill in Wheaton opening. The interior is on a smaller scale than the restaurant but very tastefully decorated with an intimate atmosphere. Likewise, the menu is on a smaller scale but has some nice additions like sushi. I'm not a big fan of sushi but I tried the Tempura Veggie Volcano and it was excellent. I will definitely have it again. I had the Fresh Fish Tacos; they were good but I missed the black beans and rice that Ditka's Restaurant serves with their fish tacos. I enjoyed the Housemade Cinnamon Donuts with dipping sauces for dessert. The only available parking is street parking which wasn't a problem on a weekday but could be on a weekend when the Grill is more crowded. Some of the available parking on Front Street (in front of other businesses) had signs stating "Customer Parking Only" but I assume one could park there when the other businesses are closed. There is a nice outside area with a fire pit which will be nice in milder weather. All in all, Ditka's Grill is a nice addition to downtown Wheaton and the Wheaton dining scene. read more

My husband's parents were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary yesterday so we all went to Ditka's for dinner. My husband had made the reservations and had mentioned the occassion so when we arrived they had four glasses of champagne on the table along with a card signed by all the staff of the restaurant which was very sweet and thoughtful. Our server was excellent: Polite, friendly, and very attentive. The food was also very good. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, with great food and excellent service. I've only stopped at the bar for a cocktail and I've enjoyed some of the staff more than others, but attentive and consistent.

Online reservations using my iPad, I neglected to realize that I needed to scroll down to get a dining room reservation. Totally my mistake and I own it, but we were not wanting to sit in the sun and on a high chair. I would recommend that the restaurant reverse the order of the reservation locations (dining room fist), unless it is their desire to drive more customers outside. In this case, it drove this customer to find another more accommodating venue. Luckily many other great options in downtown Wheaton. The woman handling the front was intent on proving me wrong and argued her point in front of other customers by pointing to her screen- rather than trying to understand my point that the reservation site was confusing, and I hadn't realized my mistake. The gentleman who was seating us took us to the worst seat on the patio (directly in the sun (quite possibly not his call rather that of the ill tempered woman up front), but he was very kind when he saw our disappointment and tried to get us seated inside. But that only had us back dealing with the same woman who said it would be a half hour wait. So we walked. This was to be our anniversary dinner celebration and as it turned out it was our first and last visit to this restaurant. read more

Exceptional is an understatement! Ditka's provides the perfect ambiance for a date night, anniversary, or celebration. Our waitress was exceedingly kind and took great care of our large party. The price point is right on considering the quality and portion sizes. I got "The All Natural Turkey Burger" with fries and it was incredible! Also got to try "The Sunset" sushi roll, again very delicious, and the side of whipped mash potatoes were out of this world.
