The restaurant is very clean and has a small grocery area attached where you can buy authentic Thai food and spices etc, which adds a nice touch. We ordered edamame and stuffed angel wings along with our main dishes, expecting the appetizers to come out first, but everything arrived at the same time. The edamame was good, though a bit too salty. The stuffed angel wings were delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. The main dishes were okay, but unfortunately lacked flavor. Everything could have used more seasoning and spice. Everything went well! We went early evening on a Sunday. Their website said to call to reserve a table. We risked it and just went. The parking lot was empty, so we were skeptical. We went in and ordered. There was a very nice young lady all by herself self handling the register, taking orders and delivering food. She was awesome. I was the only carnivore in our party of four. Which can be tricky, going out to eat with vegans and vegetarians. But they lots to choose from for both me and the veg heads. The food was delicious. I had one of their noodle bowls. Perfectly seasoned and very comforting. My friends had their green curry, and two other dishes with tofu. They also raved about the vegan drumsticks. As we ate, the dining room filled up! And that single employee kept stride and no one waited long for their food. Needless to say, the parking lot was no longer empty when we left. read more

Food was disappointing. The calamari was tough and in a thick, hard batter; it was pretty much inedible. The curries were bland; with very little meat. They were drowned in sauce; maybe they should be called "curry soups" so one does not expect more. read more

This is my second luncheon dining experience at District Thai. This time I had crispy duck and my wife had drunken noodles with pork. My duck entrée was far from crispy and also many of the battered duck pieces were too "fatty" for me. The portion was quite large. My wife's raising drunken noodles with pork entrée, was a much better choice. Quite tasty, but not quite as spicy as she would've liked. The service was quite prompt in bringing the menus, taking our order and bringing our entrée choices to the table. however, even after the waitress asking if we would like the check when we were done after waiting five minutes I had to stand up at the cash register in order to receive the check. The bathrooms were clean and nice and I enjoyed the free parking next-door. The bill for the two entrées and one soft drink, was $42 plus gratuity, which is about what I have paid for this meal at other Thai restaurants. My lower than usual rating reflects the fact that my duck was not crispy and was fatty, and both dishes did not have the usual flavorful spicy taste that I love in Thai food. That being said... I wouldn't hesitate to dine here again and try some of the other menu items. read more

The service was great and I favored the look of the restaurant but the food was definitely the star here. Love love loved everything about this place. Delicious Thai food in the York area! This time we got the chicken pad Thai and chicken red curry - both were delicious and large servings. Enough to take home for another small meal! Service was also quick and attentive. However, my favorite part of this restaurant is probably the little grocery store in the back. Best basil fried rice we have had in over 20 years. And the place that used to be the best, sadly, shut down. So District Thai is now rated #1 in my book for basil fried rice. We ordered the spicy version because that's how we like it. The calamari, Thai coffee, and pho were also great. The green curry w/ chicken was ok. Service was outstanding and I loved how the sunshine lit up our table. The stenciled silhouettes on the walls were fun and added a modern touch to an authentic traditional kind of place. If you live near here - you're lucky. We were just passing through on our way back home to Maryland. But now we know where to stop next time we're passing through York. read more

Personally, my favorite Thai restaurant in York! Their portion sizes are HUGE - makes at least 2 meals. I love that they are on the delivery apps. I've been impressed by the authenticity of their Thai dishes thus far and think it beats out the other Thai places in York (though I still have many more to try). Pad Thai was pretty authentic, lots of veggies and proteins. The right noodles, flavoring was pretty on point. The Pad See Ew was also delicious with sweet soy sauce flavor. I got it with Pork and the Pork was well-cooked, tender and moist though a bit fatty but I prefer that over dried overcooked pork. I've also had their red curry once but didn't love that dish as much. All in all, not the best ever Thai restaurant but a very good one in York! read more

The photos looked good but we def weren't expecting this caliber for a mid size town. Service was a smidge slow, but we were patient since we kept seeing such gorgeous plates coming out of the kitchen. We ordered the fried oysters, crispy tofu (huge portion), bikini shrimp, Tom kai soup, and crispy duck as the entree. Everything was super fresh and all the fried stuff was light and airy. The crispy tofu didn't even look like it was fried. The crispy duck was spicy and phenomenal, plus everything was plated nicely. I was pleasantly surprised with this place! I'm going through pretty intense phase of ordering green curry every Thai place I go and this one definitely lived up to my standards. It was definitely more spicy than other places and not as thick or as much coconut milk, as I have notice other at other places. Also the Green Curry had egg plant which is the first time I had green curry with egg plant and it was amazing! My mom and sister made their own soup which also look delicious and was definitely spicy (by choice). This was my second trip to District Thai. My husband for the Pad Thai and even though he asked for it spicy, it was pretty bland. I got a Thai salad with shrimp, wings and calamari. I ended up not liking the dressing on the salad and they removed it from the bill without me asking. The wings were flavorful but I like them more crispy. The calamari was served with a mixture of ketchup and mayo. I was dipping them into the sauce from the wings. Despite not having a great meal experience dessert was amazing. District Thai is now doing rolled ice cream sundaes. I had the strawberry cheesecake one. My husband did a make your own. They were both amazing. read more

Thai food in York? While it hardly rivals LA's Thai Town, York has a number of Thai choices, and based on this one meal, it's possible that this is the best of them. The restaurant is fairly new (just over a year old), with comfortable, stylish seating. When I walked in, their big-screen TV was playing the Food Network--an episode of Chopped. More on the TV later. I began with grilled pork on skewers with a spicy dipping sauce. They didn't have the Thai name for it, but it seemed more or less to be moo ping. The pork was juicy and tender, the sauce spicy and tangy--excellent. If anything, the main course might have been even better. Curry duck with pineapple isn't terribly uncommon at Thai restaurants, but this version featured substantial chunks of tender duck (too often it's shredded too small) in a five-spice curry. Five-spice is more common in Chinese cooking, and it added great depth of flavor to this dish and elevated it above the standard curry. Service was friendly and efficient, with my only complaint being at some point, the TV switched to the Cowboys-Redskins Thursday night football game. Apparently some guy who was dining with his wife and son (shouldn't he be paying attention to them and not a game on TV?) requested it. I got them to switch it back for a few minutes so I could find out who got chopped in the next round (and then it went back to the game), but the larger issue is whether they need a TV in the first place. I'd rather have a more serene dining experience that matches the quality of the food and the upscale setting. But if you must have a television at dinner time, at least pick something that's about Thailand or Thai food or any kind of food or even something calming or nature-themed. Bottom line is I'm definitely a fan, and the food is delicious, but I think the restaurant needs to consider the complete experience surrounding that delicious food. If I'm back in town for this same conference next year, I'd definitely consider returning (and will hope that they've rethought the TV in the interim). read more

I go back in and the same girl that took my order then said " oh we dont do that." Okay then you should have said that over the phone??? After visiting the Appell Center for the Performing Arts (Capitol, Strand, Studio) which is only 1 mile down the road, it was a no brainer to pay this place a visit, given its stellar Yelp rating. The place's easy to find at the corner of N. George and N. 7th; it has a large electronic billboard just outside the restaurant. Free parking at the side of the restaurant. Inside, it's spacious and contemporary. I thought the Bangkok skyline wallpapers were nicely rendered. The seating choices were interesting as well. The staff was courteous and serviced us well. The menu was easy to navigate. However, they do spell Pad Thai differently as "Phad Thai". I haven't seen it spelled this way before. It's also plated differently than anywhere else, veiled with a thin sheet of pan-fried egg. The Chicken Phad Thai tasted decent; however, I am not a fan of raw mung bean sprouts. Normally the bean sprouts are either stir fried or gets half-cooked in hot noodle soup. I was in the adventurous mood to have the squid-ink spaghetti to go with my Green Curry Pork. Visually the noodle looked appalling but there really wasn't any material difference in terms of taste or texture. Not worth the extra $2 premium in my opinion. I wasn't exactly thrilled to see the green beans in my green curry either, especially when they were only lightly cooked. The last dish, the Chicken Drunken Noodle, was all good except that the wide noodle was a bit overcooked. Now, in addition to the raw mung bean sprouts and under-cooked green beans, the bill also had my eye brows raised. The sit-in menu showed that both the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle to be $9 (see photo), yet the bill rang them up as $12. Granted, the online menu and the takeout menu have both prices listed (I assume for small and large?) [UPDATE: $9 only for Mon-Thur Lunch], it put a little damper as I paid the bill. Inevitably, I have to take off 1 star for all these reasons. Overall, I think this restaurant has character and I would still recommend it. I hope to be back to try the spicy ginger noodle soup among others. read more

What a gem! My family and I are transplants from a large city where we had so many options for fabulous food. Since moving to Central PA we have struggled to find good food outside of pizza, subs and general bar food. We tried District Thai this weekend and it did not disappoint. We have FINALLY found good Thai food. The place is very clean, service was quick, staff was friendly but most of all the food was delicious. First time since moving to the area my husband hasn't been disappointed by Pad Thai since leaving the city. Pho was on point and the cream cheese wontons were delicious too.
