I recently stopped by Sawasdee Thai Cuisine and had a great experience overall. To start, I ordered a Thai tea and their wonton soup. The soup came with Thai pork, vegetables, and scallions. It was very flavorful and came out nice and hot so good that I didn't feel the need to add anything extra to it. For my main dish, I ordered my go-to Thai meal: chicken and basil. It was super delicious. The chicken was well-seasoned, cooked perfectly, and the dish came out hot and fresh just like the soup. Parking was easy since they have their own dedicated parking lot. It's not huge, but I had no trouble finding a spot. The restaurant itself is family-friendly, and they had music playing in the background that added to the atmosphere without being too loud or distracting. Service was a little slower than usual today it took about 15 minutes for someone to come over and take my food and drink order, but once the order was placed, the food came out quickly. The staff was still very kind and welcoming, and things happen sometimes, so it wasn't enough for me to take away from the overall experience. They also have bathrooms available, which is always helpful for families stopping in. Seating options are tables, booths, and table and booth combination, If you enjoy Thai cuisine, this is definitely a spot worth checking out! read more

If you give this little place a chance then you'll be happy you did. Oh, boy! What can I say about the food that my photos can't? Please take a peek at them. My wife and I tried a bit of everything with the foreknowledge that we'd be taking a to go box for what we couldn't finish. We both eat vegan so it was the vegetable spring rolls to begin with. I'm not usually one to brag on spring rolls but they were really delicious. I personally enjoyed the vegan soup with clear broth, veggies and tofu. Next up was the Pad Thai without peanuts due to my nut allergies and fried tofu. Man it was flavorful. Powerful but not overwhelming. My wife and I shared a bit of vegetable fried rice without eggs or meat. Definitely better than most places I've had fried rice at. 11 out of 10. But wait; there's more. My wife had some kind of flat noodle with brown sauce and veggies. The texture was soft with a mild flavor. Not too strong or off putting. Just simple. There was only one server but the service was pleasant and kindly. If you enjoy less people around then this would be a great ambiance for you. Oh almost forgot! My iced Thai tea was fantastic. Got carry out today from Sawasdee Thai--we got the pad see ew (with chicken as the protein), tom kha soup (coconut lemongrass soup with chicken), tom yum soup (seafood), and larb salad (chicken). The food was ready on time and warm, but portion sizes small. The two soups we ordered came wrapped with foil over the lids to prevent spilling which I appreciated. The pad see ew was decent--nice texture with fat chewy noodles but not particularly flavorful. The tom kha was my favorite here (I always love tom kha); it was a bit salty and more on the sour side. I did not have the seafood tom yum, but my sister-in-law really enjoyed it. The larb salad which I've loved at other places was just average here and VERY small portion for being $15.95-only half the takeout container was full which was disappointing--maybe the portion sizes would be bigger dining in?? It honestly feels like I'm part of the family when I walk through the door. Food: 5/5 This is where Sawasdee truly shines. I've had the chance to try a wide range of dishes, but a few really stand out. The Panang curry is absolutely phenomenal. The spice levels range from mild to Thai hot--and they mean it when they say Thai hot. What's great is that the heat never overpowers the dish--it just deepens the flavor. This is easily one of the best curries I've ever had. The drunken noodles, pad woon sen, and pad thai are all consistently excellent. The fried rice is also worth calling out--flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. It's simple but done right, which is harder to find than you'd think. As for the wonton soup--my mom loves it and says it's one of her favorites. Just a really nice, comforting dish. Overall: 5/5 Sawasdee is a hidden gem in central Pennsylvania. We used to LOVE this place. However, over the years, I feel like the portions have significantly decreased and the prices have increased. What used to be my favorite dish (sweet and sour chicken) had only 4-5 pieces of chicken in the entire meal. My husband commented the same thing on his dish. I thought maybe it was a one time thing, but it happened to us the last 2 times we went. Unfortunately, I think we will be choosing to take our business elsewhere for that reason. What a true hidden gem. With not many options around hershey park late at night we decided to come here. We were blown away by how good the food was. We got the panang curry and the pad thai. The curry was rich and creamy just like Thailand and the pad thai was flavorful although a little on the sweeter side. I still thought it was delicious. The service was extremely fast considering the restaurant was full and had several phone orders ahead as we were notified by our waitress. The ambiance is nice. You'd think I'd be in real trouble since this place is 2 blocks from my house...it's so damn good. AND so so consistent! My staple favs are: Panang Curry (I add xtra chicken.) when you put this in your mouth, , you will be transported! The Tom Kha soup (also with chicken.) They have the perfect balance of the lime sour with the coconut milk and that lemongrass...mmm mmm good!!! I love it especially when it's rainy and icky outdoors. Drunken Noodles - you can never go wrong with this one! And dessert: The warm coconut tapioca pudding. Hello - where have you been all my life? lol! While we always get takeout, I have walked around the inside. The restaurant is super clean and lovely for a night out, or lunch in the afternoon! Huge fan of Sawasades! Food is always fast, hot, and very tasty. Portion sizes for entrees are enormous and can be multiple meals if you order alone, or can be easily shared family-style. I love the pineapple fried rice as well as tthe green papaya salad. they are always winners. The restaurant sometimes looks a little unkempt-- its great for casual dinners out, but the ambiance might miss the mark for a special meal. Service is always friendly, polite, and prompt. read more

First I want to say that my review has changed given my past 3 visits to Sawasdee. If I just rated them based on my first visit, I would've given them 2 stars...one of the harshest reviews I've ever given. I called in a 7pm reservation by phone and arrived with my family to find out they didn't even take my reservation into account, we ended up standing/waiting there until the next table cleared like any walk-in. Next once we sat down, it took them 30min just to get our order. Then once our food arrived, I realized they got one of our orders wrong which I confronted them about but they insisted I spoke wrong when they were the ones who miswrote the order. By that point, we lost our patience and gave up on having them send it back at all. I know that they were understaffed but that's severely poor operations/planning if this is how you manage your capacity. Also if you agree to take someone's reservation over the phone, you should abide by what you promised. The saving grace was the food was decent but not good enough to salvage the entire experience as my whole family and I still left in distaste and a ruined mood for the whole evening. Since then, I've been hesitant to go back at all but I have with other friends and I'm glad to say that their service was much better those times. The first impression still means a lot to me and my family will probably remember them by that only experience as well so I decided to give them 3 stars for slight redemption and their food. I went there last year since I tend to try a new area restaurant with my friend. The food was delicious and the portions were sizable. We were there after the lunch rush so that we could talk and relax. It was pretty good because with less other customers they have more time to focus on you. Sawasdee has quickly become one of my favorite places to get take out in the Hershey area! I stopped by the other day in person and it was even better dining in. I got the drunken noodles and my friend got the Thai smoked chili with cashew. Both were great, but my favorite was definitely the Thai smoked chili. Be careful with the spice levels. They only have mild medium and hot. I like to think I can handle my spice but the medium was more like a 6.5-7.5/10! Make sure you try Sawasdee if you're in the area or even if you're local and haven't stopped in yet! read more

This is a lovely restaurant, small yet comfortable and a kid-friendly environment. The staff appear rather soft-spoken, but they're attentive and courteous. They are BYOB but offer a decent variety of non-alcoholic drinks. Their desserts are very limited, but I've personally never tried them. What they lack in sweets, however, they make up for in amazingly savory food. Their meals are marked according to spice tolerance, but even the hotter dishes are full of flavor. Going here for lunch or dinner is always a treat and I'm never left unsatisfied. All in all, this is a great place to eat. If you're looking for something with fancy décor and a full bar, you won't find it here. What you will find, however, is good food and good service and that's nothing to complain about. read more

The special mango curry was amazing. Not too spicy and we ended up using the mango a few days later to marinate the chicken. We also got the chicken pad Thai and it was just the right seasoning.
