Unfortunately, the female that served us at the bar was not welcoming and essentially spent the entire time talking to the people on the other side of the bar. We spent the entire time looking at her back and not once did she turn around. So much so that we had to ask said couple to get her attention. Additionally, when she spoke to us it had an air of saltiness. I would think that a barbecue place would also have a variety of sauces but it appears as they only had two and a mustard. We were greeted as soon as we sat down and given menus. We really appreciated the hooks under the bar where you sit to hang your bags. Our waiter was kind and attentive the entire time. As a Texan, I'm always drawn to try BBQ in other regions to see what it's like. District Smokehouse is one of the open-air bars along the River Street area, which is great for people-watching, enjoying the weather and catching a game on their many TVs. The service is great and our waiter was very attentive. Sadly a few of the dishes we wanted to try weren't avaliable due to the storm but there were still plenty of options. We ordered the loaded potato with brisket, which the brisket didn't have the same texture or kick as TX BBQ but the potato was cooked perfectly (pretty evenly baked and didn't seem as rush-cooked as it is in several BBQ joints at home. ) We also ordered the burnt ends, which was sweeter than what we're used to but delicious with the Carolina mustard. Cole slaw was mayo-based, so not my favorite but my friends loved it. Cornbread was good but a bit dry. Unfortunately we ate separately because they put in our order wrong and my Dads food was out so far ahead of mine it was pretty absurd . Manager agreed and adjusted the bill which was nice . Food was mediocre at best, very franchised. Super disappointing as i was really looking forward to ending my trip with bbq. One star service. The bartender was atrocious. She was not welcoming at all, didn't even offer a menu (we had to ask for one). She looked like she didn't want to be there and never came back to check on us. She stood at the other end of the bar fiddling on her phone. Eventually another bartender came to check on us thankfully, the first bartender forgot part of our order so she was helpful in expediting the forgotten item. No apology offered though.
